Have you ever layered two (or more) lipsticks?
Have you ever layered two (or more) lipsticks? What did you layer? How did it turn on?
Oh, definitely! Most recently, I’d say Guerlain Altoum and Lou-Ling — very pretty!

Yes, right now my favorite color to wear is the Revlon Lip Butters in Sugar Frosting on top of Creme Brulee.
Yup! I’ve layered mac shy girl over Sephora rouge r7 which is a hot pink, so the result was a medium pink.
I do it more often than not, actually. Although I own well over 200 shades, and rarely wear it, I still get bored with what I have, LOL. I also frequently layer nail polish.
I do on occasion but mostly I layer a lipgloss over a lipstick. Or sometimes I even blend several lip glosses
Actually, just today I mixed two lipsticks together and loved the result! MAC Plum Dandy and MAC Creme de la Femme.
I do this a lot actually! I like glosses but I guess I really do prefer lipsticks. On the other hand, I’m okay with matte lipsticks but really prefer a slight shine. Ergo, layering lipsticks is the answer to all my problems. 😛
pls do the review on that. i am very curious. thanks, Christine
Yep!!! I love layering bright orange lipsticks or glosses over bright pink ones. It makes a really “juicy” colour. Lol. Probably not the best description, but I know what I mean. 🙂
I do know what you mean! I did this last night for a night out and layered YSL Rouge Volupte #14 over MAC Watch Me Simmer
MAC Up the Amp with Saint Germaine on top…makes the perfect pink
All the time! Usually to “tweak” a particularly dark or bright colour to match a look or an outfit. I especially love the combination of Shu Uemura RD198 under Utowa Rose 55.
yes. I will layer two lipsticks to try and create a unique shade. I often do it to tone down a color that is two bold.
wow really?
“two bold” It’s official, not temptalia before coffee.
LOL! 🙂
Yup! I do that with Dior Incognito because I think I’m just a tad too dark to pull it off as a pretty nude (I’m still gutted). I love it on top of Chanel Rouge Coco Mademoiselle though! The creamy texture compensates for the drier Chanel one as well.
I have! My favourite combination is Nars Heat Wave, with Dior Addict in Perfecto on top. It turns the most gorgeous shade of blood red.
I got MAC Impassioned and Morange from B2M at the same time. They’re both a little too much for me to wear to the office, but blended together they look more subdued.
Do it all the time! I love to mix my matte lipsticks with a lil gloss!
Mac High Tea is my go-to “top coat” when I use a matte finish or long-wearing lipstick. I hate the dry feel of them and also prefer a bit of shine, so its perfect. Unlike glosses, it can wear off without taking all the color with it.
Never. I use only one lipstick at a time. I don’t use a gloss over my makeup either. I am very finicky about it !
mac chatterbox + Mac freckletone
Mac creme in your coffee + mac touch
MAC Eden Rouge and Ruby Woo.
MAC Hot Tahiti and Cyndi Viva Glam lipgloss
Frequently. One of my current faves is MAC Violetta under Pink Popcorn. Pink Popcorn mellows out the purpleness of Violetta to make the perfect (for me) pinkish violet.
MAC Creme Cup and Snob
Yes! Many times. I have layered Mac Creme Cup + any bright pink or coral shade to tone it down, like Impassioned, Bobbi’s Neon Pink, Crosswires, On Hold, etc.
Occasionally. Last time I did was Mac ravishing over Crosswires.
Yes! I think most recently it was MAC Creme de Nude and Impassioned. I also tried it with Creme de Nude and Vegas Volt, I liked both!
Pretty regularly.
Today: MAC Capricious + Venus
I also like MAC Ravishing + Cut a Caper, or Vegas Volt + Ravishing.
I layer lipsticks and/or glosses to get just the right texture and color I’m going for.
I like popping Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick on top of other shades to give them a more berry tone.
