Has a pet ever destroyed a beauty item?
I don’t recall Mellan doing so, and he, in general, was not a destroyer of things (even as a wee pup!) unless it was wood in nature, then he did destroy a couple of things over his lifetime. We have a gate blocking off access to the makeup room for Winston, so thus far, he hasn’t gotten into anything!
Nope, but my daughter did. She was about 3 and got into a bright pink Estee Lauder cream blush and smeared it thickly all over her face, including very close to her eyes. It was pretty difficult getting it off her face, especially around her eye area.
Indirectly. I once dropped an expensive makeup brush; it took a weird bounce and fell in the litter box.
yes, my first lab Sunny as a pup destroyed a limited edition Dior lipstick.
I never have. Now, kids destroying stuff is another matter.
Yes a bunch of makeup sponges, and if my cat got the opportunity he would try to eat all of my brushes
Haha. Yes. I have 2 cats and one is a wild boy. I use to keep my brushes in a cup and a sponge on the top of my beauty box exposed. One day i found the sponge on the floor chewed up and another time a brush handle with bite marks. Now the sponge gets housed in the travel case and the brushes have a little acrylic box cover for protection LOL.
I guess I have been lucky but none of my cats has ever shown an interest. Before I had a vanity, I applied makeup in the bathroom and one of my guys liked to keep me company. He would sit on the edge of the sink and would push things aside to make himself comfortable but nothing ever was damaged.
My cat destroyed a couple of makeup sponges in the past. They make such fun squishy toys. 😅 But she rarely shred them to pieces; some just had teeth marks and I’ll be honest, worked perfectly after a good wash and disinfecting.
She also made some damage in the natural brush hair department. But that was during the learning phase, after that I kept out of reach anything natural hair and leather (she loves also natural leather boots).
Nowadays I just make sure I close the door to the area I store my makeup in when I leave home.
Hi Ana Maria. I once bought a package of makeup sponges at TJX and I didn’t like them so I gave them to my cats for toys. They loved them. Worst thing they did was put them in their water dishes. Lili puts everything like that in her water dish.
No but they probably would if I didn’t keep it all shut away. One of my cats would “groom” the makeup brushes, and once my other cat managed to steal an eyeliner, take the cap off and then draw all over the wall with it. It wasn’t destroyed though. Now I keep the bathroom closed.
No, Stubbs (the standard schnauzer) destroyed a cell phone, almost destroyed a remote for the TV, Chewed on some hand cream tubes, shelves, walls, tables, chairs but never on any makeup stuff.
He still steals paper if he can and with a content expression lies in the sofa chewing on whatever paper I have forgotten to remove from the coffee table.
Maserati shredded newspapers but never touched anything else.
Sounds like makeup may have been cheaper 🤔
True! 😀
Very narrowly! I had just purchased UD Vice 2 and decided to use it for the first time. Put the palette next to me on the bathroom vanity. Open. My then much younger, huge and very pouncey Maine Coon Cat, Scunci jumped up with the speed of light landing on 3-4 shades! Even though I partially caught him, he left paw and claw marks in those shades. Oh well, I just sanitized those and went back to using it. Yes, I scolded him. He couldn’t have cared less. After that, I closed the door when applying makeup.
Even though he could be a bit wild, I still miss him more than I may have ever missed a fur-baby.
《《Hugs》》Nancy. Gotta love those Maine Coons. We just got a new kitten Lili 3 months ago. She’s a holy terror and attacks our 2 yr old Maine Coon who’s quite a bit larger. Fortunately, Gracie is afraid of her own shadow and retreats.
Main Coon is the cat of my dreams. If I ever decided on getting a cat, that would be it.
My heart goes out to you, Nancy, losing a fur baby is so hard.
No, none of my cats have damaged anything makeup related. Gracie watches me get ready and has never tried to do ore than bat playfully at the eyeshadow brush handles. Lili doesn’t spend as much time in my spare room where I get ready. And sadly, Cali passed away.
Gracie, on the other hand, did have to be broken from chewing on the corners of one of my manuals for work (I work from home even before the pandemic). Now she just lays across the manual so I can’t see it. She’s a big girl at 25 lbs…she’s a Maine Coon…she covers the whole book when its opened flat.
Nope – we don’t have any pets, but I can recall my eldest son as a toddler getting into my makeup bag and smearing lipstick all over his legs just before we were due to go out. The lipstick was ruined and it took me a long time to get the lipstick marks off his legs.
Oh yes, having a dog who loves lip gloss more than I do and has managed to eat a few, some with metal cases that she chewed right through to eat the lip gloss. I always zip my purse shut now. She just loves lip gloss. I think it may have scents she likes, finds appetizing. She ate a Clinique Almost Lip Balm in Black Honey, one in the metal case and one in the plastic case. That has no scent at all.
Oh yes. My chocolate lab Wilson chewed the ferrule of an OG MAC 217 brush. It was bent at a 90 degree angle. I managed to straighten it, and of course wash it well, but I can see the dent in the ferrule so I know which is “Wilson’s brush”. My yellow lab puppy, Lily, has not gotten her teeth on anything makeup related, yet.
