Happy Thanksgiving & My Makeup Look

Happy Thanksgiving!  For those who celebrate it, I hope you’ve been having a lovely day with your loved ones.  For those who don’t, I hope your Thursday is every bit as lovely (or perhaps Friday, depending on where you may reside!).  I’d like to take this moment to share a few things that I’m thankful for:  the love and support of my family, the loyalty and trust of my readers, and of the beauty community at large for creating a vibrant, knowledgeable, and vast universe for those who are passionate about beauty.

Here is my totally indulgent look for today (meaning:  products I just wanted to wear, not because I needed to test them!) — thanks for visiting as always! 🙂

EYES

I used MAC 242 Brush for the cream eyeshadows, Makeup Geek Small Crease Brush for the crease, and IT Cosmetics #112 Airbrush Precision Shadow Brush for the brow bone highlighter. I started by patting ColourPop Fringe Super Shock Shadow on the very inner fourth of the lid, near the tearduct, and then lighting pulling the sparkle/shimmer upward past the innermost crease area. Next, I applied ColourPop KathleenLights Super Shock Shadow on the middle of the lid, overlapping with Fringe. To get a better gradient between the two shades, I then patted ColourPop Cheap Date Super Shock Shadow between the two, just gently. To add more contrast, I applied ColourPop Drift Super Shock Shadow to the outer third of the lid and lightly buffing just into the crease but not above it. For the crease, I applied ColourPop Central Perk Super Shock Shadow with a small crease brush and buffed it quite a bit above the crease itself. To merge the outer lid and crease shades together, I applied ColourPop Moonshine Super Shock Shadow to the crease. To diffuse the crease color, I applied ColourPop Truth Super Shock Shadow to the brow bone with a fluffy brush. I used Sephora Love Affair Eyeliner on the lower lash line, and then patted ColourPop Fringe Super Shock Shadow over the inner third and ColourPop Dance Party Super Shock Shadow on the outer two-thirds. I used IT Cosmetics Tightline mascara with Dior DiorShow layered on top.

FACE

I applied Marc Jacobs Beauty Coconut Primer prior to doing anything else, so that it had time to absorb into the skin. After I finished applying my eye makeup, I applied a mix of Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation in 02 and 03 (about 2/3 and 1/3). I applied Tom Ford Love Lust Blush on cheeks and highlighted with Laura Geller Ballerina Baked Gelato Illuminator. To set and buff everything in (I also toned down the cheek color I had on) with Guerlain Les Voilettes Loose Powder in 03. I used Clarins Fix’ Makeup Spray as a final setting step.

LIPS

I mixed Tom Ford Malik Lip Color and Tom Ford Derek Lip Color together, and then layered the mixed lipstick hue with Sephora Good Fairy Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gel. I highlighted the cupid’s bow and just below the center of the bottom lip with Laura Mercier 001 Matte Radiance Powder using a fluffy brow brush.

Now this is how it’s done! A perfect warm, autumnal look for a chilly evening. Probably one of your absolute BEST FOTD looks I have ever seen on you! You GLOW Gurl!!!

Today, I’m actually giving my face a break, just wearing Erborian Korean Skincare Bamboo Waterlock masque. It strangely says one can do it as a leave-on.
But tomorrow will be another story! Hahaha ?

I love it you look amazing Christine but what stood out to me even more was how thoughtful you were for acknowledging that not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving or the holidays but what we do have in common is our love or addiction lol for beauty. Thank you that meant a lot to me. I’ve been a faithful reader of yours for many years and I love your page. Keep up the great work.

Thank you for all your hard work! You are the only reviewer/blogger i follow on daily basis. I can always depend on your unbiased and genuine reviews. I don’t know how you do it. The amount of items you test and then write up is astonishing! You look absolutely amazing as always! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Happy Thanksgiving Christine , to you , your love and your family dear !
Thank you for such lovely look , it is very inspirational 🙂
Thanks for making our life beautiful with all the hard work you do and for the patience you show here in your replies 🙂
Keep smiling my sunshine 🙂

Thank you, Rashmi! I don’t imagine you’re celebrating Thanksgiving, but did your family celebrate it when you were in the states? One of my uncles and his family never celebrated – they always went out for Chinese food on Thanksgiving, but my parents are super into it.

You guessed it right 🙂 We dont and even when I was in US ( for 3 years ) we never did … but I love reading the posts on blogs and sales which are being promoted …
These days on FB everyone keeps talking about Thanksgiving deals and even some Indian sites do that …
just that and nothing else 🙂

I really wish you take some time out and visit India and see our heritage …and allow me to cook some Indian Punjabi food for you 🙂 and take you for some Forest Essentials shopping 😀 😀

I know how you feel! I love mattes, but lately 90% of the eye shadow I use is shimmery.

Thank you! I do, only because it makes my family happy, lol. I’m not convinced it’s worth the chaos!

Nicole Avatar

Also, I forgot earlier, but I wanted to say thank you for how thorough your list of coupon codes and sales are. I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to buy today and your list has been indispensable!

Happy Thanksgiving!! Thanks for that beautiful message, and love your eye look! Yep, with the holidays in full swing, I will be busting out my shimmery shadows and highlighters all season, will be sparkles galore 🙂

How nice that you get to wear what you like for a change, Christine! And I really like seeing your look breakdown – I really miss the looks you used to do on a fairly regular basis. It’s not Thanksgiving here (ours is in October) but I want to wish you a happy one and also say “thank you” for your wonderful site and for all the information you make available for the rest of us.

Christine Avatar

For the last couple of years (yes, years, sadly), I’ve wanted to do maybe a “look” once a week – sort of an end-of-the-week thing where I pick and choose products I want to a degree but also incorporate some of the “best of” products that I have out on my vanity from recent testing.

Belated, but thank you so much!

So funny, I also used Fringe and Drift! I had Fringe on the inner 2/3, Drift in the outer corner, and used Mac Kid to blend the crease. I had UD Crave liner with Whiskey shadow blended over it on the lower lash line.

Lovely! I used all ColourPop on my eyes, as well! I didn’t want to worry about makeup mishaps throughout the evening. Also used their lippie in Silk on the lips, and I luuuuurve. A lot of the younger girls at my fam dinner seemed to go for a colored lip last night, which was fun and different from the norm for all of us! Hope you had a relaxing and yummy Thanksgiving! xo

Super glowy! How are you liking the coconut primer? I have tried it and I didn’t care for it that much. I like that it’s moisturizing but I didn’t see any extended length to my foundation or pore/line filling. I’m not oily per se but I think it actually increased my oiliness in the T-zone! I’ve only used it with Remarcable and Tarte foundations though. I might try it with the samples of the UD Skin I have. It looks hella chalky on me even though the color match is good.

Happy Thanksgiving, Christine! I stayed in my PJs all day, sans makeup. You look sooooooo much better than I did. I took my niece to Nieman Marcus today, where we sampled and purchased many Lips & Boys. After seeing your look, I have added Malik and Derek to my list! My niece got Giacomo and Michael, I got Tony, Stavros and Joacquin. Ordered Drake and Theo online.

What a fun post! Happy belated Thanksgiving to you! Thank you for all your hard work researching and testing makeup products for us so we can make informed choices. You do a sterling job! I love the look you’ve created here just because you chose it, you look happy and relaxed ?.

Lovely look.
I hope you and everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I had the opportunity a long time ago to celebrate Thankgiving with my BF’s father and his wife, who came from the US. I loved the food, I’m a vegetarian, but all the veggie side dishes were so good.
I am thankful for having found this corner of the cyberworld, where everyone is kind and supportive and where no one hates just because you can. And for having the opportunity to make informed decisions when it comes to my makeup splurges.
Thank you Christine and all of the beautiful community here.
Better stop before I get sentimental 😉

You look like a modern, glamorous version of Pocahontas, if I may say so! (I’m part Native American myself, so I say this with love!) A beautiful, inspired look for Thanksgiving–hope you had a great one!

Christine Avatar

Thanks, Kate! 🙂 I’d love to make them a regular thing (like not every day, but every week or so) – I always go, “I’ll do one once a week,” and then I’ll just get this barrage of stuff I need to test and walk around with totally mismatched everything for weeks, lol.
