A Stunning Berry That Wears All Day

Guerlain Orgueil Rouge G L’Extrait ($48.00 for 0.20 oz.) is described as a “plum.” What a pedestrian description! This shade is so much more complex. It’s a rich, deepened scarlet red with ruby red micro-shimmer. There’s just a hint of berry in the overall color, especially from afar. While it is not a dupe, it’s a cooler-toned, more berry-hued version of Chanel Dragon. MAC Good to Be Bad is browner and has no shimmer. MAC What a Joy! is more berry-hued. Guerlain Gigolo is deeper, darker, but it is rather close.

The way Rouge G L’Extrait feels on the lips is hard to describe; it’s not quite a full-on second-skin feel, which I always think of as a lip color that clings, almost like cling wrap. This has more movement in a way; you can press your lips together and you don’t feel them sticking together. Orgueil wore for eight hours and was still wearable for another hour or so. It can be reapplied, because it doesn’t flake off or wear away unevenly like some other long-wearing formulas can. This formula has more transfer than those, so there are trade-offs. I can wear it for eight hours, and my lips aren’t dry at all. The color is very pigmented, and a little goes a long way.

I’m glad you also thought it was similar to Guerlain Gigolo. I actually like that fact because it gives the consumer a liquid or stick option to achieve approximately the same look. I do find that it looks slightly vampier in real life versus studio lighting though.

This is a nice shade. I bought a bright orange/coral shade awhile ago, but it’s not for me. I found the formula really drying on my lips. I kept it, though and I plan to wear it only when I don’t need to have it on for a long time.

Dammit, it looks amazing. I am SO glad it is not limited edition, because I won’t have to cave in right now, but this is so going to be mine at one point or an another in the future.

This colour is GORGEOUS! Holy cow is that ever pretty. So complex too. No way I can afford it though. *sigh*

You look stunning in it, Christine. And your full-face makeup is amazing too!

OH MY GOODNESS! (oops! I was on caps lock! My bad!) This is gorgeous! Christine! You already tempted me to buy another shade (Gourmandise) this stuff is gonna break my poor college freshman wallet! But there’s just so much awesome I can’t stay away!

I just can’t decide on this one. I think with my coloring I could pull it off, but I’m not sure I have the confidence to wear it out! But it is gorgeous…

Oh my god! I want this so much, even if I’d never have the courage to wear it. Small mouth + big face + dark lipstick = weird 18th century opera face.

This is so pretty, but I absolutely hate lip products that I have to dip back in like this and lip gloss. I can’t get past the germ factor.

Will you be reviewing any more of these? I’d love to see some more swatches and pics of them on your lips. The photos of this product absolutely have blown me away, but I know this isn’t a shade for me. I would LOVE to see more reviews!

I have this shade and I must tell I love, love, love it!!!! It just looks wonderful.

I’m considering getting another one, but I’d love a lighter shade… either Paresse or Avarice, but I can’t decide which one :s
