Guerlain Meteorites Perles Impériales Review, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Meteorites Perles Impériales ($53.00 for 1.2 oz.) is the latest limited edition shade of Guerlain’s famous Meteorites from their holiday collection, slated for release this October.
Perles Imperiales is a soft, icy cool-toned pink highlighter with silvery-pink shimmer. I’m not sure if it’s possible to use this as a blush, as it’s really quite sheer and soft on me, so I do think the best way to use these is as a highlighter/luminizer. The pearls themselves are a mix of medium pink, pale lilac, peach, and burnt peach. What separates Guerlain’s Meteorites from other highlighters is how subtle and fine the shimmer is. It’s just a very silky, smooth highlighter that works well on a variety of skin types. It doesn’t make you look like a disco ball, but it still gives you noticeable “glow.” This is something you can subtly apply all over the face or just strategically to highlight certain areas (e.g. cheeks), which I like.
Guerlain describes Perles Imperiales as, “Easy to apply and almost magical, these famous multiple-effect pearls are as luminous as imperial silk and come in three formats – mini, medium and maxi – in order to optimize their evening-out and corrective action. They are also reinvented in three new shades intended to create a fresh, sublime complexion. Mauve and white illuminators, with pink for freshness and gold for light, brighten and smooth the skin to a sleek satin perfection. The famous Météorites compact features an opulent pouch in shiny black fabric, decorated with light-infused silver and rhinestones.”
The packaging for this limited edition shade is gorgeous. It’s in the same traditional cardboard packaging as the rest of the Meteorites, but the outside is solid black with black rhinestones/sparkles all around the side and then a smattering of silver rhinestones/sparkles on the top. I love how this packaging looks, because I do find the Meteorites packaging, in general, to be a little cheap for Guerlain (since it’s out of cardboard), but they really classed it up with the sequin-like look of Perles Imperiales. I do prefer using a brush like the 165 or 187 by MAC with the Meteorites for best application.
I know some feel Meteorites are pricey, but you always have to look at the volume you get for your buck, too. This is one of the least expensive high-end highlighters, believe it or not! This is priced at just $44.17/oz. compared to my all-time favorite Dior Skin Shimmers, which are $122.86/oz. — nearly three times the price per ounce. I imagine one box of Meteorites will last you quite awhile. There is also something to be said about the design itself–beautiful, colored pearls of powder.

Wow, i’m impressed! Usually those balls give you a chunky, glittery, and uneven finish, .. but this stuff even makes your hand look irresistable :p Definatly something to put on my holiday wishlist 🙂
I completely disagree. I have 15 different Meteorites and not one of them gives my skin “a chunky, glittery, and uneven finish”. They are just so soft and shimmery, but not glittery or chunky at all.
Ha! They’re lovely 🙂
Those Meteorites make me smile! They are like little balls of pretty.
Haha!
Packaging is SO gorgeous! O_o
They’re killin’ me! 😀
I would really like to try this, it’s looks really nice
That’s Guerlain’s speciality, LOL!
Ugh! I’ve been lemming Meterorites for ages — they look so gorgeous! Could you use them in a FOTD sometime, Christine? *pleads* =D
I’ll try!
I love you even more Christine! 🙂 Almost as much as I love Meteorites. 😉 I collect them, and I’m really looking forward to this year’s collection. They are so pretty and smell so lovely too.
Just a small correction: You are not supposed to use the puff for applying them, it’s just there for protection, you’re supposed to use a brush (there’s a special Meteorites brush which is gorgeously soft).
Looking forward to more reviews on this colection.
Thank you for the note, Anitacska!! I didn’t even know, OMG.
They leave the skin glowing, so perfect! I use them everyday but I think they’ll still last a decade =)
For one reader, they have lasted a decade!
Pretty!
I really wish when people talked about the cost of makeup in terms of how long it lasts and not just the dollar amount. I’ve had the same container of meteorites for an embarrassingly long time…10 years? It’s actually cheap when you think it terms of cost per use. I wonder why no one ever talks about makeup costs in those terms.
Whoa, ten years! That’s crazy! It is always important to look at how many usages you’ll get out of a product in relation to the price!
gorgeous! but mos definitely be on the WISH list, litttttle pricey.
Hopefully someone will get it for you off your wish list, Sarah!
Pretty. When I was little I love the look of the shiny shimmery balls and when my mom made rounds around the makeup counter I always have to look at the Gurelain Meterorites balls to play and touch them.
Same here 🙂
I’m so glad I saw this review because I was thinking about trying one of the meteorites at the sephora f&f coming up. Hmmm…I wonder if this will be in by that time or if not I might try one of the regular ones. I’m just glad to see a swatch of one of them.
All of the shades I’ve tried have been lovely so I don’t think you could go wrong either way!
great value!!! I’m dying to try this
Yayy!
I need this! When me and my sister were little kids we stole these from my mom and tried using them as sidewalk chalk she was livid! I’ll have to keep these out of my sons reach for sure!!!!
Aww, so cute!!
is the pink fresh or beige chic?
Lovely. I want, but I’ll put it on my Christmas wish list this year & hope someone gets it for me.
I hope someone gets it for you, too!!
I definitely love the box! Is it make of paper again? I have one, and box is broken finally.
It seems sturdier than cardboard, but I’m pretty sure it’s still paper!
I read your review again, and I just feel I must have one when it release! Although it is still cardboard thing. I hope it will come to Australia not that late!
I hope you’ll see it soon in Australia!
I think I would only buy this because of the packaging – very unique.
The packaging is stunning for sure!
subtle and beautiful! I love them!
Yayyy!
