Guerlain Majestic Rose Ombres G Quad Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Majestic Rose (530)
Guerlain Majestic Rose (530) Ombres G Quad Eyeshadow Palette ($85.00 for 0.2 oz.) includes four shimmery eyeshadows that ranged from softer, satin to brighter, more sparkly and metallic finishes. The color story was warmer and pinker. Three of the four shades were very pigmented, while one was sheerer, but they were all blendable, sat well on bare skin, and lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of wear.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "intense pigments for long-lasting color" across four finishes: "intense satin," "deep matte," luminous metallic," and "radiant pearl." The majority of the shades were quite pigmented applied dry, but it seemed, by texture and look of the pan, to be a wet/dry formula to me, so I tried them damp as well. I didn't feel like using them dampened was necessary except for a few of the "radiant pearl" finish shades, which had more shimmer/sparkle.
The "deep matte" finish tended to have a firmer and more cream-like feel, so using a denser brush to pick up to apply and diffuse color was best, while the other finishes were more moderately-dense--firm but not stiff--and blended out well as they "melted" on my skin. The eyeshadows lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of fading with a few getting closer to nine hours of wear.

Not bad in the performance and pigmentation departments! As for the color scheme, I’m not as sold on needing it. Not with my having enough similar shades in ND Retro Midi and several other rosy palettes. However; I really do love it!
I’m certainly enjoying watching Guerlain slaughter Tom Ford in the great Quad Wars.
The turn in the battle. TF had a long run, but a distaff army, all but forgotten, lays a siege. Who knows who will win the crown? It’s almost like the succession of English kings. Total non-history person here, so the parallel must be pretty obvious. And it IS interesting.
What is it with all the orange tones? Yesterday Dior, today Guerlain. The orangey shade does not work really well with all of those pink hues. Maybe a lavendar shade, or an antique gold, or soft silver would have worked really well. At least the quad rated well.
Outrageous price for something I wouldn’t buy at even half the price because of the colours. Oddly, Sephora in Canada no longer seems to carry any Guerlain eyeshadows or quads (except for some eyeshadow pencils) and I think even The Bay doesn’t have their shadow quads any longer (at least not online….I was curious to see what the price for this thing would be in Canada).
I was tempted by this quad, found it on saks (through borderfree)… price tag over $100 cad.. took a pass!!
All the more reason I’m glad that I’m not even remotely tempted! I imagine you’ll be able to dupe the 4 shades in this and save yourself a bundle.
I like it, but I def do not need this colour story.
Call me crazy, but would this make a great full face palette? #4 as a blush, #3 to highlight, #1 just might work as a bronzer or contour for some, plus a golden-plum eye look. This color story isn’t new, but it might actually make a great travel palette.
Beautiful quad. I’m def intrigued by these Guerlain quads!
