Guerlain Holiday 2011 Collection: Belle de Nuit
Guerlain Holiday 2011 Collection: Belle de Nuit
During the 1920’s and 1930’s, pioneers in aviation accomplished unimaginable feats and these brave pilots became instant, worldwide heroes. It was during this revolutionary period, in 1933, that Jacques Guerlain composed the legendary perfume Vol de Nuit, meaning “Night Flight,” as a tribute to the most famous women aviators of his time. Named for the second book written by his close friend Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Guerlain’s creation was a bold oriental fragrance that served as ode to all fearless women. Comprised of woody, vanilla and powdery iris notes, Vol de Nuit was for the woman who laughs in the face of fear, for whom nothing is impossible. For Guerlain’s Holiday 2011 make-up collection Belle de Nuit, Creative Director Oliver Échaudemaison takes his inspiration from this legendary fragrance. Evoking the changing shades of the night sky, he created daring tones that are both dark and dramatic with mesmerizing iridescent accents. With lacquered and blue-green details, the products are incased within boxes that reveal the blue and black zebra motif found on the original Vol de Nuit box design. Belle de Nuit is a sophisticated and enchanting limited edition collection that is as fleeting as nightfall.
Vol de Nuit Perfumed Shimmer Powder for Face & Body ($87.00) (Limited Edition)
Make-up and fragrance merge in this ultimate holiday accessory! The light and luminous powder wraps the skin with a veil of iridescent shimmer while being deliciously fragranced by the notes that comprise Vol de Nuit: a green and woody composition, softened by vanilla and iris. The universal pale pink shade is accentuated with blue-green and silvery hues to leave the face, body and hair sparkling. The bottle reinterprets that of the original Vol de Nuit, which was revolutionary at the time by being the first to combine glass and metal. The green-blue lacquered glass is adorned with graphics reminiscent of a propeller, conjuring up the image of a plane travelling across the starry depths.
Parure de Nuit Pressed Powder & Blush ($67.00) (Limited Edition)
More than a mere powder compact, Parure de Nuit is a lightly, violet scented skin-enhancer that is a perfect partner for night birds. As light as a feather on the skin, the pale pink, white, deep pink and blue green colors are topped with an iridescent and translucent sheen forming a universal harmony which gives the face an instant glow. Its black lacquer case conceals an extremely soft goat-hair brush.
Meteorites Perles de Nuit ($56.00) (Limited Edition)
The cult favorite is back and reinvented this holiday season. Although the formula remains untouched, Météorites Perles de Nuit leaves the face glowing and radiant with a new tailor-made harmony. Five perfectly smooth pearls correct, illuminate and even out the skin. It is composed of pink pearls to capture light, white to illuminate the complexion, gold to reflect light, orange to boost radiance and silver to add shimmer without whitening the skin.
Les Ombres de Nuit 4-Colour Palette ($59.00) (Limited Edition)
Guerlain has developed a new color harmony made especially for night owls. The two textures create smoky, seductive and spellbinding eyes that will last from twilight to the deepest night hours. An iridescent texture of green, blue and grey pearlescent particles release luminous color with an extremely metallic finish and combine with an extra-matte black shadow that offers an incredibly comfortable finish for a precise, intense liner effect.
Rouge Automatique ($35.00)
- Flirt d’un Jour Soft and luminous pink
- Nuit d’Amour Black red that reveals an intense plum color

The shimmer powder is SO beautiful I would never want to use it. But ouch! The price!
The price makes me cry because the Meteorites Perles de Nuit are calling my name being so fair skinned. But I can forsee and $12 mark up by the time I would get that is if Sephora gets it. It’s priced the same at The Bay as well.
I’m also in love with the Vol de Nuit Perfumed Shimmer Powder for Face & Body bottle… Here’s hoping someone sells there’s down the road.
Actually Christine do you have plans to review this collection or is this too steep for the blog budget?
I have everything except for the lighter lipstick, so I will be reviewing over the next few days. Guerlain gave me permission to post today 🙂
Aww, I was hoping to see swatches etc. of the lighter one too since the darker one swatched so different from how it looks! I can’t wait until Nordstrom gets it so I can see it in person 🙂
YEh!!!!!!!! LOL
There are no words to describe how exciting this looks to me 🙂
ooooh its so beautiful!! maybe too beautiful to use…
This is why I love Guerlain so much <3 Can hardly wait!
wow! one of my favorite collections *ever*. I’m not into packaging usually, but those meteorites!!!!
I’m a sucker for teals myself… $200 on Guerlain collection or $400 during IMATS. T-T
Funny, the original collection info I saw said there were going to be green/blue balls in the Meteorites instead of orange ones, wonder why they changed it? By the way I will be buying the entire collection, except maybe the black red lipstick. 🙂 Oh and wonder what happened to the Voyage Powder? They always release a new one at Christmas. I’m confused.
Probably didn’t look to good on the skin like a Ice Queen finish. lol
Green neutralizes red and Blue neutralizes orange … you would pretty gaunt regardless of your skin tone. It would be cool to see it on my olive fair skin though….
These are not that pigmented, it wouldn’t have looked ashy I don’t think. The original Mythic meteorites had blue balls as well, and Teint Rose has blue and green balls too.
The sole consequence of frequently reading Temptalia is that I have gained a strong interest in the higher end brands like Guerlain and Chanel. Oh Christine, what have you done to me? LOL 😛
They have one form or another of spray shimmer powder and Meteorites in a different case. Always buy a couple of each, love them!!
Christine, not sure if you are aware that you have the same description for the Meteorites under the eye palette as well. 🙂
Love the art deco look of the Vol de Nuit Perfumed Shimmer Powder.
I’m going to get the Parure de Nuit pressed powder/blush, the Meteorites, and the eyeshadow quad. Can’t wait!
Is that a perfume at the bottom? Didn’t see it mentioned in the post, unless I missed it!
It’s Vol de Nuit!
I wonder if anyone’s like me, and looking at those Meteorites, feels afraid that she may forget and eat them someday? lol
Christine are you going to review any of these products before the collection comes out?
Jaw dropping gorgeous!
This is a dream! Thank goodness they wont’t have them in (Greek) stores till early December so I can save some money! I want everything, and I mean it!
YESSS! More Rouge Automatiques! Will be hauling both.
Gorgeous collection. I do find it funny though, when even the most luxurious of brands have those horrible, cheap sponge applicators. That one even has “Guerlain” carved on it!
I don’t know if it’s too tricky to make a decent teeny brush, although I do have a very nice one I got from a Shiseido concealer compact — with actual soft bristles and everything!
WOW!! I hope that this collection will still be at the counters by the time I get to the US in November!
I’m a lowly college student and can’t afford Guerlain, but in a perfect world I would get the perfumed shimmer powder just for my vanity. That bottle is stunning.
Can’t wait for this gorgeous holiday collection to come out. The
blush, sparkling powder, eyeshadow, and lip colors are to die for!!!
I am a big fan of Guerlain and they never fail to bring out a beautiful
collection for the holidays!!. Love It!!
I love Guerlain, and Natalia, and will probably buy some things from this collection. Am I the only one who’s a little disappointed with the picture, though? The copy is great, and I think it would be so cool to see Natalia dresses as a female aviator from the period — instead of looking like a femme de nuit.
Maybe I’m just being over-sensitive.
Lovely!
