Guerlain Gold Pearl Meteorites Pearls Review, Photos, Swatches
Gold Pearl
Guerlain Gold Pearl Meteorites Pearls ($65.00 for 0.88 oz.) is a translucent, light beige powder with warmer undertones and flecks of larger, light gold sparkle. The effect was slightly smoothing with stray, visible sparkles on my skin. The latter effect is not something evreyone is going to appreciate, so keep the sparkle factor in mind if noticeable shimmer or glitter on the skin is a deal-breaker!
Per Guerlain, the limited edition holiday version of Meteorites is supposed to “warm up the complexion and fight dullness” with “reflect[ing] light.” I actually felt like this year’s powder did a lot less to smooth and blur my skin’s natural texture and pores than past releases, and it did not seem to do much in the way of brightening or warming up my skin tone, though I am warmer in tone and light-medium in color, so the latter wasn’t a surprise (it’s lighter than my skin tone). Over the years, I’ve often found that the subtle effect is something I can tell in person but is less noticeable in photos, but this version definitely doesn’t do as much as past Meteorites Pearls (of which I am normally a fan). There was a slight effect, but we’re taking what was already subtle to a very subtle level. If Meteorites were on your radar, the permanent iteration does a better job.
This year’s version is also a bit smaller than past iterations at 0.70 oz.

That’s a shame, the packaging looks amazing. Sad that the product isn’t up to par – also there is less product that the usual Meteorites (which are 1oz/30g)?
Yep, smaller than past iterations! I imagine Guerlain designs packaging and then is like, “Oh, that’s all that fits!” and I know not that many people have ever finished one… lol.
Oh, it definitely photographs visibly. Had to laugh at ‘ever finished’ AND had to google when they came out. Certainly don’t use it daily, but my only/original has been going strong since 1987. And it’s still scented. Idk whether to say lol or wtf? 30 years? That’s lasting. Must be well preserved….they aren’t even crumbling! I have Meteorites that are older than many readers!
Wow, that is impressive and must have some good preservatives, LOL!
I had high hopes for this one. What a letdown from Guerlain! Oh well, money saved. Really kicking myself for not getting that truly fantastic one from 2 years ago, the one with the gold stars!
Your complexion looks fantastic on both sides.. I can marginally see the difference.. a bit brighter, I do like the tone with this iteration, but the price is too steep for such negligible difference.
Thank you, Wendy! I am glad to hear you can discern a little difference 😉
Christine, you look stunning!!!!!
The earrings matching the eye look, the neutral lipstick… everything is just SO perfect!!! :O
Btw, I love Guerlain’s meteorites, but large sparkles are a huge no for me… 🙁
Thank you for the review!
Thank you, Gisele <3
Eeek! I almost bought this one! So glad I didn’t!!!
I’m so happy I don’t order without your rating! I had certain things I saved for, tucking away here and there all year and one was the holiday meteorites. It’s funny just about everything I saved for has either gotten bad reviews or this years version doesn’t appeal. I’m sure there will be plenty more to tempt me!
Oh wow!! I’m totally going to try and recreate your look here tomorrow!! Fantastic!! I think I need to purchase the lipstick to go with the look too!! ?
Aw, thanks Karen!
They’ve done SO much better in past. What a shame!
That’s worrying when a brand reduces not only the content but also the quality of a much loved product.
These products have always seemed like just an indulgence to me, but you look beautiful.
I think that they are. They have a place in a routine, but by no means not a product I’d deem necessary, you know? Like I’d give up Meteorites over mascara!
I just ordered these! What did you think about the quality of the packaging? It looks pretty but is it metal like last year?
Hey Lulle,
It seems like plastic to me – there’s some heft but not ultra heavy or luxe-feeling!
Well, shoot. Money saved, I guess.
I just love the packaging but still have an unopened package of meteorites from quite a while ago.
I bought two and wasn’t able to finish the first.
Money saved. Thank you so much Christine, I was on the fence with this one.
This is the product that I am most disappointed in this holiday season release. Every year I purchase the Guerlain Meteorites Holiday release and this year I just am not feeling it. I am super pale so these will definitely not work on me for an all over finishing powder and I don’t want the glitter either. The packaging is okay to look at but plastic?? And less product!! What were they thinking. I am just bummed. I am really wishing I had purchased a back up of the 2015 release.
Thank you for saving me $65!!
Dunno about the meteorites, but the rest of your make up is on point! ?
Thank you, Anna!
Christine, do these products typically produce flashback? I’m guessing no, or we would be able to see it.
Not that I’ve experienced!
A top contender off the list. Too bad as I look forward to the Meterorites release. I also heard the packaging was cheap feeling. Appreciate your advice to look at the regular range and your hard work arming us with good information as we go into the holiday season.
You look amazing, Christine!
Does Guerlain make a concoction of these balls to accommodate dark skin tones? They look lovely, but I’m sure they would look quite chalky on my NC45 skintone.
Dore will be your best bet, but I’m not 100% sure if it will be too light on NC45 skin!
An easy skip for me it seems! I wonder if it would do anything for pale people with redness though.
