I’m a pretty ordinary, laid-back gal, so there’s not a lot of things that make me feel like a queen- until I get on stage! I’m training to be an opera singer and when I get on that stage, with all eyes on me, singing something I’ve worked hard on and poured my soul into, I am the diva of the world. That feeling is what I live for, and it’s why I do what I do seven days a week. I honestly couldn’t live without my music and my performance. Some people take spa days or makeovers to make them feel like royalty- just stick me on stage with a song to give to the world and that’s where /I/ am queen!

I feel like a queen when I pamper myself for 5 hours prior to a huge gathering. In January I went to a bat mitzvah party at the Grand Bohemian and I took an hour in the bathroom to shower, deep condition, shave, moisturize and perfect my facial skin! Then I manied and pedied myself up for an hour complete with ruby red nail polish, did my hair for an hour (that went horribly wrong – the hairstyle was so awful that I just wet my hair and let it stay curly which actually looked pretty nice) and then an hour and a half with my makeup – I did smokey brown eyes and glossy red lips with MAC Dare You lipstick and Crystal Rose lipglass. I took the last half hour for putting on my dress and shoes, making sure everything looked nice and fit right, hair and makeup touch-ups, and putting lipstick and a 20 dollar bill in case I needed money in my little handbag. I felt so glamourous!

What makes me feel like a queen is a nice retail therapy fix after exams/finals. There’s just a thrill when you’ve been working so hard for the past couple of weeks and just splurging on yourself and getting that lipstick or top you’ve been wanting for a really long time. 🙂

With having a 4 month old baby, it is sad that the smallest thing makes me feel like a queen. Some of them are, getting 20 uniterupted minuted to take a hot shower, being able to style my hair rather than just toss it in a pony tail, or even having a few minutes to be me and not mommy. But seeing my baby girl smile at me when I pick her up from day care makes me feel like the queen of all queens.

I feel like a queen on my birthday when I get to make all the decisions about what we do for the day and I get presents. These presents were especially chosen for me with thought and care, which I love.
