Giorgio Armani Scarabeo Face & Eye Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Giorgio Armani Scarabeo Face & Eye Palette
Giorgio Armani Scarabeo Face & Eye Palette ($88.00 for 0.44 oz.) is a new and limited edition palette for fall. Overall, I found the pigmentation of this palette to vary from decent to good, but the texture was on the dry side (except for the blush, which had a very lovely consistency) and somewhat powdery. The colors didn’t blend as easily on the lid as other Giorgio Armani eyeshadows have for me (many of them blend effortlessly). If you have drier eyelids, I would definitely stay away from this palette. When I wore the three eyeshadows, they looked noticeably faded after seven hours, and they had almost disappeared by ten hours (no primer); with a primer, they lasted slightly longer until eight and a half hours before starting to fade. The blush lasted well for eight hours and showed slight signs of fading after nine hours. It’s not a terrible palette–it’s decent, but at $88, it should be much better than that.
Light Pink Blush is a rosy plum with a frosted finish. It had fantastic color payoff and a soft, finely-milled texture that applied evenly and was easy to blend out on the skin. The finish is rather shimmery, so it does emphasize pores ever-so-slightly. NARS Oasis is pinker. NARS Lovejoy is darker. Chanel Plum Attraction is darker, less warm. bareMinerals The Indecent Proposal is darker, less shimmery. See comparison swatches.
Copper Wood is a cool-toned, dark brown with green and bronze flecks of shimmer. It had fairly good color payoff, but the texture was somewhat dry and powdery–and I felt like this translated on the lid, too. Chanel Mystere #4 is more matte, lighter. theBalm Sophisticated is similar. Dior Golden Savannah 5 is warmer. See comparison swatches.
Iridescent Jade is a cool-toned, medium-dark green with a pale gold shimmer-sheen. This shade has an overlay, so it appears like a springy green in the pan, but it is much darker underneath. It had good pigmentation, but the texture was a little dry. Sephora Walk on the Wild Side is warmer, greener. Tom Ford Emerald Lust #2 is lighter, more metallic. Chanel Metamorphose #1 is lighter. MAC Shimmermoss is lighter, bluer. MAC Aquadisiac is lighter, less shimmery. MAC Spruced is bluer. Make Up For Ever #302 is lighter. See comparison swatches.
Sea Green is a muted, smoky green with cool undertones and a bluish tint. It had a soft, frosted finish. The color payoff was decent, but the texture was a little dry here, too. Giorgio Armani Black Pearl #3 is bluer. Dior Garden Pastels #5 is slightly greener. Make Up For Ever #302 is brighter. See comparison swatches.

The iridescent jade shadow is stunning! I also really like the blush. It looks simple and natural. The eye look..wow! Too bad about lack of durability on the shadows because otherwise, I would be all over this palette.
I love jade green, too, and so I was sad this wasn’t better!
I don’t understand using over spray to completely change the color of an eyeshadow. I can’t see any possible good coming from that so why do they do it?
Noooo idea!
This is so interesting. I am beyond happy with the eye shadows, most pigmented formula I purchased for this fall (including Dior Bonne Etoile) but I can’t get the blush show on my light to medium complexion even with a dense brush. I started wondering if the compact is produced somewhere else and another formula for US…
The blush looks really pretty, both in the pan and on you 🙂
I’m rather confused by the overspray, because you really have to know there’s one (and even then, it’s hard to get past the first colour you see!) to avoid being disappointed and feeling duped, which is never a good thing when you try to sell a product.
I love the blush!
Nooooooooooo… I am so disappointed right now…I’ve been waiting for your review of this palette and as I’ve been reading really good comments everywhere else I had already started saving up for this…and now….frustration….will you be reviewing the other palette for fall as well? I hope it will be better….
Sorry, I don’t have the other palette!
The difference between the overlay and the actual color is soooo dramatic! I don’t understand why they would be that misleading…
On top of the irritating -what-you-see-isn’t-what-you-get factor, I think the color of the overspray actually would work much better than the jade green in combination with the other two shades–the combo of that pale greeny-gold with the bluish sea foam had me really intrigued, and then I saw the swatch. Fail.
Christine, really wana ask, I, every time, fall in love with the blushes of these face palettes, since the spring collection, I think the eyeshadows are amazing, too, but the palette as a whole comes to more than a hundred dollars in here. Do you know if Armani’s individual blushes are as amazing as the ones that come in palettes? Cause if that’s the case, I’ll check out the only Armani counter in my town, that is like two hours away from where I live! I think the face part is always amazing, but if I can, I’d choose not to get the eyeshadows.
I haven’t tried their individual blushes – at least not to my recollection! 🙁 I would expect that they are… as their blushes are quite good in the palettes.
I just got mine two days ago… I too was very surprised by the middle shade’s overspray and the deepened color that was underneath…. I was hoping for the lighter green initially for the highlight aspect of the trio but the green underneath is pretty too. I ended up using the blush, which also has a deeper colored overspray, as a highlight. I was disappointed that the blush looked so dark but then when I got the overspray off the color underneath was what I wanted 🙂 I also loved the shadows, they blended over a creamy concealer on my dry lids and lasted all day on me 🙂 Contemplating buying the other fall palette…. oooo what to do what to do :/
I was really lemming this palette & am so grateful for your review. I haven’t had much success with Armani eyeshadows, & it appears this is no exception. I will purchase one of the ETK Intense eyeshadows instead, as those never let me down.
If you don’t like other GA eyeshadows… yeah, stay away. I have had better luck with other palettes, so in general I have liked them, but if you didn’t, then it would worry me even more about this one!
I like the concept of these face-eye palettes, and the face powder is gorgeous, but the shadow colors just aren’t my thing
What is that on your lower eye rim? Is it the iridescent jade? It is so pretty.

the jade is beautiful! but not enough to make me want the whole palette =/
