Giorgio Armani #505 Lip Maestro Review, Photos, Swatches

Giorgio Armani #505 Lip Maestro
Giorgio Armani #505 Lip Maestro

Giorgio Armani #505 Lip Maestro ($32.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a vibrant, medium pink with subtle, cool undertones and an almost neon brightness. MAC Pleasurefruit (LE, $16.00) is darker. Urban Decay Turn On (P, $22.00) is similar. MAC Speak Louder (P, $15.00) is darker. Chanel Belgravia (LE, $34.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches.

I really love the Lip Maestro formula for something that’s very comfortable to wear, long-wearing, and really, really pigmented. #505 is fully opaque in a single pass of the doe-foot wand, which is slightly slanted and maneuvers around the lip easily. The consistency is not too thick or too thin, but it smooths over the lip evenly. It feels velvety, creamy, and the formula is unscented. This shade wore well for almost seven hours and left a light stain behind.  It’s an interesting shade to see in a holiday collection–definitely reads and feels like summer galore.

Now, the one thing I’m very confused about is why Giorgio Armani has so much inconsistency with product naming.  Nordstrom lists this as “Pink Poodle,” whereas on Giorgio Armani’s website, it’s listed as “#502 Eccentrico,” yet the press release lists it as “#505 Eccentrico,” and the bottom of the tube corresponds with #505.  “#502 Art Deco” is part of the permanent range and is listed as such on Giorgio Armani’s website.

Holy pigment! Gorgeous color! Seems more summer than winter to me, but I guess this is a trend because Guerlain has some fun colours out this holiday season as well. 🙂

man i love it. i think i m gonna have to pick it up. i think i’ll start buying more liquid lipstick in stead of actual lipstick cos i have been having a few lipsticks break off in this heat.

that bothers me a lot bcos to me a lipstick in a palette practically means i will not really use it, i don’t like using lip brushes, and if it is in a palette then it means that i won’t be able to carry it around.

Pretty shade!

Not like you have anything else to do or anything… I’m still dying to hear if you try these as a cream blusher. It’s the only thing I use them for 🙂 LOL

GA Lip Maestro products are divine! I currently own Laque De Chine and Blush and I love them both! The long-wearing formula of these lip products are totally worth the money. Looking at the swatches, there’s no need for me to justify buying this. GA can take my money now 😉

How does this compare to MAC’s candy yum yum? I know they’re different formulas, but how close is the color?By the way, you’re looking beautiful as always Christine!

Christine,

First of all let me start by telling how much your reviews influence my purchasing make-up choices. For a few years now, I have come to your site as a reassurance to any prospective obsession, especially lipsticks and even when you have not reviewed them, I hesitate, cross my fingers and hope for the best.
I also should tell you that I have really never posted any comments on your site before but like I said I have followed your site and expertise for years. So, thank you for all your hard work and I look forward to more of you unbiased and thorough reviews!

Regarding the Lip Maestro’s have you ever encountered any feathering? I have an issue with the 400 red color in particular and other people in the world wide web seem to have encountered the same issue. Any thoughts?

Thanks again! Oh, and Melan is adorable!

Hey Vanessa!

Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words and also taking the time to comment today!

I haven’t had any feathering issues, BUT it is very, very rare that I get feathering with lip products – only a few formulas/colors do it for me (so few that I can’t remember the ones that do).

This shade looks beautiful on you Christine. I’ve been on a pink lippie buying spree and I know this one would look great against my NC45 skintone. Thanks for the post.

Looks garish swatched but amazing on!!! I absolutely love GA’s Lip Maestro – I just wish they would get into more nude and beige hues as well as their signature vavavoom colours!!! That being said I adore their brights and this is no different!!! Darn … another trip back to the department store for this one now! So … what name or number am I looking for? I wish they would just give them names and not numbers!!! This colour suits you Christine ;oD

Hey christine.. I never buy any makeup without any reviews from you! :
Thanks for being so helpful.. And i always end up buy everything with grade A+ without thinking twice hahah..
Anyway, i’m sooo interested looking at this vibrant colour!! You look so pretty also 🙂
Anw, how does it compare to tom ford flamingo?
And i also had UD Turn On, it’s quite warm rosy pink.. But you said it’s similar, i think it’s not as bright as GA #505?
