Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: LOL, those Tom Ford quads I mentioned last Friday never ended up being delivered, so Sephora reshipped them… maybe next week. Sigh!
Weekend plans: Surprisingly busy for me! It actually is a quiet time in beauty, especially with ColourPop not having anything new for two weeks (!!). Hubby told me I should just enjoy it and take it as a sign that it’s more time for puppies 🙂 I am doing a shadow shift so I can volunteer on the quarantine side of the rescue (this is where all new intakes go, not necessarily anyone who is sick) as well as possibly taking Winnie to the rescue’s mother’s day event (more as a training opportunity for him). My MIL will be over for Sunday brunch, and we’ll see my family for Sunday dinner.
What was your favorite board game as a kid? As an adult? I never loved board games, but if I had to say one, maybe Monopoly as a kid and Scrabble as an adult.
Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:
- Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
- Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
- Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
- Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)
This week's doggo photo/video...

I love brindle coloring (the tan and white) so I think I’d take one of those! Puppies get adopted very quickly around here, so I’d have to prep my house and literally be on high alert for a few weeks if any became available.
Recent purchases/Rediscoveries: I haven’t bought anything new, but might consider it later this weekend. I’m eyeballing the new MAC palettes: I saw them in Ulta this week and had a craving, but I might do a deep dive on dupes/swatching to make sure they’re not just a repeat of what I already own.
Weekend Plans: None, other than having my MIL over for dinner on Sunday. We still need to decide what to serve, eek. Might ask my DH to do takeout.
Favorite Board Game as a kid: I have no idea what it was called, but it was a shopping mall game that had a credit card reader that SCANNED. It was fabulous, and I’ve long since lost it but there are fond memories. This would have been in the mid to late 80s? As an adult, I much prefer card games like Cards Against Humanity, Exploding Kittens and Superfight.
The game you described sounds like Mall Madness. My daughters loved it too!
Happy Mother’s Day Brandi and takeout sounds like a good idea to me!
Recent purchases/rediscoveries: No new purchases but I found, safely stowed away, an old tube of UDPP in the Eden shade and in the older squeeze tube packaging. I’ve been using it all week and it just reminded me of how good UDPP used to be and I really like the Eden colour. I also rediscovered a few products from TheBalm – the very first Balmbini palette and using the pink blush and the eyeshadow in Insane Jane, and also the single of All About Alex.
Weekend Plans: it’s Mothers Day and I and my daughter and her mother in law and sister in law are all being treated to a Mothers Day High Tea at the Bell Museum in Brantford. Tomorrow, though, I’m going to the gym and doing a few errands and do my nails.
Board games – as a child, I loved Monopoly. As an adult, probably Trivial Pursuit (I love trivia).
What a lovely day that has been planned for all the mothers in your family Mariella. I’m sure the gym work will cancel out all the treats and goodies that you’ll eat at the Museum. Is the museum in honour of Alexander Bell, the inventor of the telephone?
It’s actually the first North American home of Alexander Melville Bell (father of Alexander Graham Bell) and it’s where Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. It’s basically a hop, skip and jump from my daughter’s house (well, a BIG hop and skip) and is a national historic site. I’ve actually never been before – I’ve been by it and it’s beautifully restored – so it’s going to be really exciting.
I love those kinds of museums and it’s lovely that the house has been restored and a cafe has been added. Have a really great day!
Poor Filet! If I could, I would take her in a heartbeat, but not here. Between the “rules” and the fact that this apartment is quite small, especially compared to the other one that I lived in over there at 68th St. and Cheery Lynn. I’m praying that someone steps up to adopt her and shower little Filet with all the love and attention that she deserves! 🐕
And these little Yogis are so FLUFFY!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Placed an order with ColourPop for several items: Angelic SSS, Lavender Dreams highlighter, Purple Aura lip gloss and Calabasas eye pencil. Currently these are at the post office across the street.
Weekend plans: Same old same old. Zoom meeting tomorrow morning, might hit the pool at least once, desperately need to pop in at least one load of laundry. If I can find the energy, I’ll do a deep cleaning of my bedroom, including shampooing the carpet, etc.
Board games you enjoyed as a kid? As an adult? As a kid, I loved Scrabble, Othello (teens into twenties) and several others who’s names I no longer remember. As an adult, though, there’s no one around to play one with, so just online games and puzzles.
Have a restful day tomorrow Nancy and just laze in the pool!
Recent Purchases: Just some singles from ShineBySD and Clionadh.
Rediscoveries: I used my Odens Eye original Solmane palette for the first time today and it’s still going strong. It’s such a cute spicy spring palette.
Weekend plans: We are heading to an amusement park close by on Saturday and celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday.
What was your favorite board game as a kid? As an adult? As a kid… I don’t think I had a favorite board game. My family did do a lot of card games though, and I loved playing Rummy with my grandma. As an adult, it’s been such a long time since I’ve played a board game with adults, but my son and I have fun playing Candy Land and Sorry and Chutes and Ladders together.
SORRY is such a great game for all ages and for all ages to play together. One of my dearest friends, who has no partner and no children, always delighted in playing SORRY with my young children and still, to this day, if any or all of them are home (they’re all adults now), she will come over just to play a game or 2 or 3 (4 is her UNLUCKY number so they often have to keep playing if she comes in 4th) and it’s always, always such fun.
Have a lovely Mother’s Day Celesta with your family. Is your mum and/or MIL joining you?
The puppies are growing up every single week you post the videos and they are definitely more curious and wanting to explore their home. Much like a crawling baby. Just gorgeous!
Recent Purchases: Nada for beauty and just negoitating the purchase of a new car (for me). For the first time in a very long while, I haven’t requested a beauty product (i.e. an eyeshadow palette) for a Mother’s Day present. A sign of the times, I guess.
Rediscoveries: CT’s The Rebel, Maybelline’s Burgundy Bar and Fenty’s Freckled Fiesta lipstick
Weekend Plans Just the usual food shopping and cleaning on Saturday. My younger son and his family are heading into the city for a long weekend as he is changing jobs and needs a break before he starts his new position. He booked it months ago and we will celebrate Mother’s Day with them next weekend.
For Sunday, I plan to have a relaxing day and my eldest son, husband and myself are going out for dinner at a lovely restaurant.
I am in the process of negotiating my new, second hand, but later model of my car that was involved in a collision Inot my fault) – so that will be happening on Monday. For the moment my husband has been chauffering me around, but I just can’t wait to have my own car. Men don’t do browsing like women do and I do miss that.
My twin sister is out of hospital, but still in isolation due to covid. She is getting better, but is now feeling lonely and bored.
Thank you to everyone who has sent lots of kind thoughts, good wishes and prayers for her. She has really appreciated hearing that those on this blog, from around the world have wished her well.
Favourite board games as a child, an adult: I didn’t really play board games as a child, but with my own children I played a lot of card games like Uno. As an adult, I do enjoy a good Trivia Night.
Wishing your mum and Shaun’s a lovely Mother’s Day Christine. And you too – for being such a wonderful mother to your puppies!
Your sister is improving, which is good news. Just the other day, I got my 5th COVID booster and a casual friend (she’s a retired teacher who is now working as a real estate agent and we referred her to a very good friend of mine who was moving to my city last year) who is very, VERY casual about the whole issue of COVID and vaccines said she’s had 2 shots and as far as she’s concerned, that’s enough unless she has to have them to travel to other places. I was annoyed (though not surprised) at her self-serving attitude, especially as she’s in contact with the public a lot. This idea that COVID is finished and nothing to worry about….your sister’s situation shows that this is absolutely NOT the case.
As for her boredom, do you think Audiobooks might help her. I absolutely adore listening to books, either downloadable ones from the public library, or from Audible.
I’ve worn The Rebel 3 times this week and ever time, I think of you. It might be one of the few eyeshadow products I might need to repurchase because I actually use it up (NARS Kalahari is the other one though I don’t think it’s still available)
I’ve had my fifth shot as well and covid is still alive and thriving around here too. You just can’t be too complacent about it. My best friend’s son, who is a nurse, has just had his third bout of it and was still sick as a dog (even though he is fully vacinated) and it was worse than his previous two encounters with the virus.
Allison loves her audiobooks and listens to them a lot. I think it’s more that she can’t have visitors to her home. She should be OK next week and I am taking over some of my Minestrone soup that she loves, plus my Beef Stroganoff.
Hopefully I will have my new car by then to show off.
Yep, The Rebel is a perfect olive shaded little quad and it works so well with other neutral shades. I will probably repurchase it too when my favourite shade (the top right hand one) hits pan.
The person I spoke of is very smug that she’s not had Covid but all these other fully vaccinated people have had it. It’s that attitude….rather than feeling grateful, she’s just smug (and for all anyone know, she may well have had a mild case or may have had it but been asymptomatic (and perhaps spread it to others!)
Your visit to your sister and the delicious soup and STROGANOFF (am I jealous or am jealous?) will do so much to help her feel better and to get strength back. What a caring sister you are!
As for Rebel, it’s the top left, closely followed by the top right that I’ll hit pan on first as well. I love that even though it looks like a cool weather palette (and it is), it still works perfectly all year ’round.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Haus Labs Dragon Fruit Daze Blush!
Weekend plans: Mother’s Day and seeing a friend!
What was your favorite board game as a kid? As an adult? I went through a big Shoots and Ladders phase! As an adult, my favorite game recently has been the party game Wavelength!
Discovery: mixing Rare Beauty Joy and Worth liquid blush. Apply with a flat topped brush. Natural, lasts for hours, can layer other products on top.
Weekend: working lol, is there anything else?
Games: Monopoly, Scrabble, Cards, Backgammon, Trivial Pursuit, yep they’re all fun.
Those pups are all sweet and lovable!
The pups are so adorable!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: An eye cream from Biotherm. I needed a good one, I had a de lux sample of this one and liked it a lot.
I suspect I’ll be saying nothing to this question for some time now, as my money will go to Stubbs’ vet costs. He had to remove a claw five days ago, he has something on that same toe that needs removing and he is going to fix his teeth later this month. One of the meds he has to take for his hepatitis makes the gum grow so it now covers some of his front teeth. He had this procedure about a year ago. He is fully insured, but I still have to pay quite a lot, and I’m not sure what the insurance company thinks about the teeth thing. I have still to send in last years bill. I keep forgetting.
Weekend plans: Gardening and watching Stubbs so he doesn’t try to lick his paw.
What was your favorite board game as a kid? As an adult? I liked Ludo, Monopoly and card games as a kid. As an adult I liked Trivial Pursuit, but people didn’t want to play with me, as I was quite good at it. Trivia is fun!
Now I have no one to play with so I play Ludo online, and some other silly on line games, and of course World of Warcraft and Diablo.
OMG Helene, what an issue with your little doggie! It sounds like our medical insurance here – you pay a lot per month, but still you can be out of pocket. Let’s hope that they give you a refund on his dental work.
Thanks Genevieve!
The teeth, or gum work will be postponed as he had to remove a claw last Monday and it’s not healing as it should so they will probably have to remove the toe, something I don’t mind, as keeping this as it is, hoping there will grow out a new claw seems silly. He is very bothered by it, trying to lick the paw, even though he has one of these fun cone thingies over his head, so in theory he shouldn’t be able to reach his paw, in reality he now knows exactly how to. Smart dog! At least the insurance will take most of these costs. 🙂
RECENT PURCHASES: None
WEEKEND PLANS: Try to stay cool! We’re on heat advisory through Monday night.
Today we’re helping my older son buy and set up shelves for his collectibles. I’m also hoping to dye my hair. I’m still not sure what color I want to do. We also need to do a big grocery shopping trip.
We’ll probably barbecue and have the kids over for a bit tomorrow.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE BOARD GAME AS A KID?
Battleship and Life
AS AN ADULT? Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit
Are you in the midst of a heat wave Rachel? I loathe heatwaves! I hope your air con is working well, especially when there is high humidity.
Best wishes on the setting up of the shelves, sometimes those flatpoacks never have enough screws or something or are missing a piece.
Because I am without my car, my husband has been taking me into the local shopping centre for our weekly grocery trip and it’s been a big eye opener for him to see how much the average price of everything has increased from 4-5 years ago, especially fruit and veg.
Have a great Mother’s Day Rachel.
Favorite board game as a child was probably “Battleship,” if that qualifies. I had the original blue and red plastic one. Also, “Risk,” “Monopoly,” “Stratego,” and “Scrabble.” As an adult, I don’t really spend time on board games, but I have played Monopoly and Scrabble on Playstation.
