Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate duos x8 (expensive, ouch!).
Weekend plans: Catch up on some reviews, hopefully!
How are you doing? I’m okay; hanging in there mostly, but better than I have been in the last couple of months.
Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:
- Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
- Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
- Flipplant (figure out the plant using a mix of text- and image-based clues)
- Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
- Unswatched (figure out the makeup item using a mix of text- and image-based clues)
- Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)
We just launched Word Frenzy, which is really for me, because I love this style of game and the countdown/timer twist definitely adds to the challenge.
This week's doggo photo/video...

That gray brindle baby is so ADORABLE!!! And I have to agree with you that Winnie is a very gentle, patient foster brother to these little ones!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Oops I did it again! Rouge now, but didn’t actually want to be or try to be. Just ordered a bunch of essentials from Sephora: The Ordinary Multi-peptide & HA Serum and also Rose Hip Oil, Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream, Laneige Lip Mask in Gummi Bears, Fenty’s Gloss Bomb Ice, and Sephora Hemp Masks. Might order PML’s Mothership X today because I love it for icier, wintry feeling looks and 20% off makes it even better. We’ll see…stay tuned!
Also placed an order with Sydney Grace for the In Mel’s Memory bundle that she put together after ND Retro Midi got released. It was her vision of what she was expecting from the former. In comparison swatches done by Caseybellebeauty on IG, one can instantly see that Mel Thompson did it far, far better than even the brand new ND Retro Glam palette to be released on the 11th of November!
Rediscovered the exquisite BEAUTY of my Nomad Bosque Nuboso de Monteverde palette the other day after hitting my ABH Rose Metals palette nearly nonstop since I got it (I mean, hey, it is just a perfect “everyday” color story that really lights up my eyes). This time, it looked even better than the other couple of times I used it back in September when I first got it. There’s a green with a pink to gold shift in there called Hanging Bridges that is literally to die for, it’s so pretty!
Weekend plans: Zoom meeting tomorrow, and I really need to chill out and rest up today and tomorrow. Getting ready for my Pre-Inspection by property management wore me out. Beyond that, I’m going to make homemade gluten free macaroni & cheese and gf brownies! It’s that time of year again.🍲
How are you doing? On the struggle bus lately. Between the anniversaries of both my first grandchild Skyler’s death (he would have been 14 now) and Scunci’s death 2 years ago, November is a very difficult month. And yet, I used to love and live for autumn when I was still in NJ! But not anymore. I know what I need to do. Just going to be hard to get it done.
Some months are like that – full of sad anniversaries that bring joyful and also painful memories. Saying some prayers for you.
Thanks for mentioning that Sydney Grace bundle. It looks great: like Mel Thompson put together several quad’s that I wanted in a whole bundle. I do already have 2 of the shadows in that bundle.
Those puppies are adorable and Winnie is so sweet with them!
Recent purchases: I loved last week’s purchase of the Dior Galactic Eyeshadow Palette so much, I took advantage of the 20% off sale at Sephora and bought two more Dior palettes: Nude Dress and Soft Cashmere. These three beautiful Dior palettes have succeeded in moving me out of my mattes-only phase and now I’m loving the shimmer and pearly shades. Nude Dress is a great everyday palette for work, while Soft Cashmere and Galactic are perfect for evenings.
Weekend plans: My husband is sick with a bad cold, so we’re staying in this weekend. I think I’ll start weeding out my closet of clothes and shoes I no longer wear. I lost a lot of weight over the past year and need to get rid of my “fat clothes.”
How are you doing? Not that great. Job is giving me so much stress. I used to love my job, but lately I can’t wait to retire. Unfortunately, I have to.
Those two extra Dior quints are really beautiful Seraphine and all the shimmer shades are very subtle, quite muted. I know Mariella is a fan of these quints.
Before you get rid of all of your fat clothes, have a look and see if they can be taken in Seraphine. When I lost a lot of weight a few years ago now, I got rid of a lot my fat clothes, but the rest I had them taken in by a dressmaker, because I still loved the colours and fabrics.
So sorry to read that your job continues to be awful and that you feel retiring is your only option – you wouldn’t be able to work part time? Or is that not an option either?
I’m hoping to retire in the next 12 months and then doing some freelancing. But right now I need the full-time paycheck and benefits. As far as the fat clothes are concerned, I gained most of the weight during the pandemic, so now I have a collection of leggings that have become baggy on me…not a good look! And Old Navy and Target jeans that aren’t worth altering because my higher end jeans finally fit me again. 🙂
Recent Purchases: DamDam Mochi Mochi Luminous Plumping Moisturizer, Kora Organics Noni Eye Oil; Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter; Fenty Slip Shine Cookies & Cocoa; Clinique Rose Pop lipstick
Weekend Plans: Recovering from my covid vaccine
How I Am Doing: anxious
Did you have an adverse reaction to the vaccine Sarah? My eldest son was sick as a dog when he first got his. I hope your new purchases are cheering you up as they are lovely ones.
I keep trying to play Concludle but every time it’s an athlete and I don’t know ANY haha.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My friend gifted me the Blueberry Muffin palette and I’m so excited to play with it!
Weekend plans: Hopefully a quiet weekend.
How are you doing? I’m okay, loving the colder weather and all my summer rashes are finally clearing up!
Have fun playing with your new eye palette Zia and the cooler weather is such a joy after a long hot summer.
OMG the puppies! I love how sweet Winnie is with them. We’re not in a place for more pets right now, but maybe next year? I wouldn’t turn away a puppy if one suddenly showed up on my doorstep, just saying….
I caved to the Sephora sale and picked up the new Hourglass foundation and the Rare Beauty tinted moisturizer. I also got a small size of the JVN air dry hair cream; if it doesn’t work for me, I’m almost positive it’ll work for my curly hair teen. We’re just allergic to hair dryers as a family, I swear. I’m also not sure how, but I’m less than $40 from Rouge so will hit it during Black Friday. Swatched a bunch of things in store and have a shopping list for the holiday season, but I will definitely be looking for the best deal. I also picked up my birthday gift from MAC this year which was amazingly generous – Glow Play Blush and Glow Play Gloss in your color choices. I got So Natural and That Tickles respectively and am already a big fan of That Tickles. So Natural is a cream version of other colors I’ve liked (it’s close to NARS Luster) so I have high hopes for it, but haven’t tried it out yet.
Weekend plans: heading to a concert on Sunday with the bestie! It’s outside and there’s a rain forecast within a few hours looming, so I’m anticipating it will be chilly and I’m just going in my Docs, black jeans and giant hoodie.
How am I doing? It’s been a very up and down few weeks for everyone, but I keep reminding myself that I have a lot to be grateful for.
Glow Play Blush is such a nice formula, isn’t it? And So Natural looks very pretty. The one I have is called Blush Please and I love it.
Enjoy the concert Brnadi and I hope it doesn’t rain and spoil the fun.
Winnie is so sweet! Those puppies are adorable.
I’m glad to hear you are doing better. Big hugs to you.

WEEKEND PLANS:
Voting, as we only have mail-in ballots in Oregon.
Other than that, trying not to be miserable. We have a nasty rain and wind storm system going. I had such a bad migraine from it, I had to reschedule my doctor’s appointment today, which was about my migraines. Ugh! My husband is out of town, so I’m just going to hunker down and pray our power stays on.
HOW ARE YOU DOING?:
OK. Not going to lie, October was a pretty crappy month. But I’ve had worse! November isn’t off to the greatest start, but we think we have a nice three-level townhouse rental for my sons, my younger son’s GF, and my older son’s friend. It’s close, so we can be there for them. 🤞
I hope your migraine clears up Rachel — last week we had a severe rain and wind system as well, which spoilt many people’s opportunity to enjoy The Melbourne Cup – a big horse racing event here in our city. But this week the weather is going to be warm and sunny.
I hope your power stays on – and the weather system doesn’t bring floods.
Congratulations on finding a rental property for your sons and youngest son’s girf friend. It will be wonderful for them to have their independence and for your husband and you to have the home to yourselves.
It’s good to read that you are feeling much better lately Christine. I was getting quite worried about you across our respective continents and could feel your exhaustion and stress, dealing with your hands and everything. I hope that by allowing yourself some more free time and working with the rescue puppies would help.
Those puppies are just gorgeous and I love the way that Winnie plays with them – so tolerant. He is the best big brother!
Recent Purchases: My PMG Bronze Allure palette has arrived and it is my birthday present from my son, so I haven’t opened it yet.
Rediscoveries: Using ABH’s Sultry palette – so gorgeous and my Shiseido Visionary Gel lipsticks in Sleeping Dragon and Lantern Red.
Weekend Plans: We have been The Plague household this week, with my husband, myself and our eldest son who works from home catching Covid. I woke up last Tuesday with a shocking headache and feeling really chilled to the bone. My husband had a runny nose and a cough. We decided to take a RATS test and found out we were positive to Covid. I was quite surprised as I hadn’t lost my sense of taste and smell, but apparently this is one of the new variations that is swirling around the globe.
We caught it from the kids, who had been unwell the previous week with the same thing – in fact it went throught their whole family and was so unlike their previous contact with covid that they didn’t think it was that.
Anyway, the good news is that I am much better now and am testing negative (yay – I can go to the library) and my husband – who promptly got some antivirals (because of his age and asthma), is also better. Our eldest son is recovering well too.
Our weekend plans are pretty chill – nothing too strenuous, just the usual.
How are you doing? Well, much better now that I got my negative result. I am generally a buoyant kind of person and I am feeling pretty much OK. I am desperately trying to book a hard rubbish collection to get rid of the crap that is around our place – but every single time I go to do so, something crops up – illness, the weather etc. So I will feel much better when I have a decluttered place.
Happy to hear you’re feeling better, Genevieve!
I’m so sorry your household went through COVID. I’m glad to you are testing negative now.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new
Weekend plans: Catching up with family, the local opera, visiting my eyebrow lady, lots of chores, a special book I’ve been eager to read, making plans for a little escapade.
How are you doing? One of these days someone will ask me `How are you?` and I’m actually going to tell them. 😆 I’m… fine… This year hasn’t been the greatest but I guess I’m going to survive it?!? I just keep going, I’ve learned enough times that life is made of bad things just as much as good things. Scarlet O’Hara said it well… `After all, tomorrow is another day.`
Have a lovely weekend Ana Maria and enjoy your plans. Where are you thinking of heading off to?
Just something within 4-5 hour of driving.
Recent Purchases: I got in on the Clionadh restock for a couple shadows that I missed out on last time. I also purchased the Glamlite Scooby Doo collection. It was too cute to pass up!
Rediscoveries: I’ve been wearing different combos of my BH palettes this week with Clionadh singles and it has been lovely.
Weekend plans: Meeting up with my son’s good friend from daycare today (they haven’t seen each other for months!) and then tomorrow heading to the Apple Store to fix my son’s iPad.
How are you doing?
Also, I’m doing okay. It’s weird that it’s November. I look forward to October so much and we did so much last month! I have to go into the office a couple days a week starting this week, which I’m not looking forward to for a lot of reasons. The thought of Christmas seems daunting to me this year too.
Going back to the office is quite daunting – over here in Melbourne Aus – some companies are still working remotely from home, others are full time in the office, but most are doing 2-3 days at work and the rest at home. It can be quite scary.
Christmas has completely crept up on us – I can’t believe it’s November already.
I hope your week turns out to be better than you thought it would.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: There’s been a lot since it’s my birthday weekend!
Gifts from my parents: Fenty Cherry Punk and Lady Lagoon Flypencils, UD 24/7 Goldmine and Smog eyeliners, sage green faux snakeskin Sonia Kashuk large makeup bag from Target, clear makeup pouches from Sephora.
Gifts from my mom’s side of the family: NARS Ocean Drive eyeliner, NARS Jolie Mome lipstick, UD x She-Hulk large eyeshadow palette, $10 Sephora gift card.
Sephora VIB sale order 1 (shipped this week): PMG Celestial Nirvana palette, backup Fenty Amber Match Stix, new tube of UDPP (the eye primer is ground shipping only and has delayed the entire shipment by a week).
Sephora VIB sale order 2 (just placed): NARS Powermatte lipsticks-Killer Queen, American Woman, Notorious, and Too Hot to Hold.
Weekend plans: Weekly grocery run Friday night, worked all day Saturday, my birthday and joint birthday party with my uncle Sunday.
How are you doing? I’m okay, but I think I’m already tired of Christmas and it hasn’t even happened yet!
