Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: About Face Cheek Balms, Chanel Rouge Allure Lipsticks (x8) and YSL Bold Pigment Lipsticks (x12) – hoping to swatch both of the lipstick ranges today or tomorrow.

Weekend plans: We had been contemplating a new car purchase for the last two years, and we went down to the dealership to get a deposit in because we expected to have to order and then wait 3-6 months, but they actually had almost the exact vehicle and options that we would have ordered… so we ended up purchasing a new car yesterday instead of ordering and waiting until April/May next year. It’s a pretty big deal for us since we have had our last car for over 10 years, but one of our goals in the next five years is to take more road trips with Winnie, so we wanted something that would be significantly more comfortable to road trip in. Hubby is very excited since it’s kind of his 40th birthday gif (and also all forthcoming gift-giving occasions, as my birthday is in September, and our 10th wedding anniversary is in October).

Hoping to pick up and learn all the new-fangled tech in the car today, and then naturally, we’ll spend the weekend finding excuses to drive, LOL. But I’m hoping to snag a car cover from Orvis today first!

Are you an adrenaline seeker? I’m totally the opposite! I’m naturally risk-adverse and don’t seek out things that are thrilling/exciting/anxiety-inducing, haha.

P.P.S. — Check our hubby’s site for video gaming guides — good if you (or someone you know or your kids!) is into gaming, including crosswords and Wordle. Plus, I worked with hubby to develop our own games! You can check out the games we have at Awordy, which include Concludle (trivia) and Adoptle (figure out the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses), and Mislettered (figure out the quote by guessing letters).

RECENT PURCHASES:
*Unearthly Cosmetics In the Dark Palette (sale).
*Lethal Cosmetics 1UP Palette.

WEEKEND PLANS; Later today we’re returning home from our camping trip. My older son and his friend will arrive from their trip from Georgia today, too. So… unpacking, helping son:s friend settle in, etc.

Also, we’re behind on our MCU viewing, so the “kids” and I are going to watch/rewatch the three Spider-Man movies and then the latest Dr. Strange.

ARE YOU AN ADRENALINE SEEKER?
Big “NO” from me. Adventure, great. Heights, going fast, high potential for danger, big financial or bodily risk;. I get anxious rather than thrilled.

Congratulations on the new car!

Recent purchases: Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink in Seductress (hate it) and Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Hibiscus (love it).

Weekend plans: Visiting family, working on music.

Are you an adrenaline seeker? Only when it comes to Disney rides. Otherwise, I like calm.

Celesta Avatar

Recent Purchases: Unearthly Cosmetics was having a flash sale, so I purchased the Not Normal and After Dark palettes since I was eyeing them for a while. I also got some of the Clionadh expansion shades and a new magnetic palette as an early birthday gift to myself.

Rediscoveries: I used my Fantasy Cosmetica Druid palette for the first time in a while today! I love this palette, it’s so beautiful.

Weekend plans: I think we’re celebrating my birthday this weekend? My son is getting a new set of tubes in his ears and his adenoids removed on my birthday so this weekend I’ll be taking care of him and making sure he’s drinking a lot of fluids.

Are you an adrenaline seeker? In everyday life, no. I play it pretty safe. Once in a while I’ll take minor risks, but that’s rare. If it’s something like going on vacation or to a theme park I will ride all the rollercoasters or zipline, things like that. I have a weird urge to go sky diving sometimes, but don’t know that I would actually do it.

Happy Birthday Celesta and I also hope that your son’s surgery goes well – not exactly the birthday celebration that you want, but you don’t really get a choice with surgeries these days. I think you will find that he will have less ear infections and breathing issues when sick once his new tubes are in and his adenoids out (we had to do this for our youngest son too). You’re a really good mum!

Recent purchases: I scored big time at Winners….a tube of MAC Captive (discontinued) for under $10 and a jar of Origins A Perfect World Moisturizer SPF 40 that doesn’t expire until October of 2021 for $26 (it retails here at Sephora for $73 so a major score!). At Shoppers yesterday (20% off), I purchased another spray can of Avene thermal water to keep in my gym bag, Avene eye cream (I wanted to replace the one I used to buy which I think is discontinued so I bought one that sounded nice) and Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in the shade Stylist.

Weekend plans: we’re just seeing our older son off to Frankfurt to start a long postponed Europe trip with his best friend from his highschool days and I’m, as always, a bit blue (he was only home for 4 days and will be stopping off here on his way back after his trip). So, except for going to the gym and maybe going to visit new grand daughter, I’m not really planning much of anything.

Adrenaline seeker? Heck no! Just driving in traffic is enough of a shot of adrenaline for me! That and being a substitute teacher with teenagers – enough excitement, danger, uncertainty so in the rest of my life, I crave calm and serenity.

Genevieve Avatar

Oh Mariella, you make me laugh about your thrillseeker side – when I was teaching preps (5year olds), quite a few teachers thought about them like you would teenages – unpredictable and liable to say and do anything. And yes, the traffic is bad enough here too to give you an adrenaline rush (especially on the freeways).
I am sure you are feeling a bit down after your older son off on a trip, but I am sure he will have a lovely time with his friend in Frankfurt. And a visit to see bubba (who would be growing and changing every single week) will cheer you up. I can just see you in the sewing shop picking out all kinds of beautiful materials/patterns to make her some winter overalls, pinafores and outfits too.

Weekend plans- I am going to visit my mom (she lives 2 hours away).

Recent purchase- the new Make Up Forever Ginger palette. I could hardly find any reviews on it, but I was really drawn to it and it was fairly inexpensive. I haven’t received it yet.

I am pretty risk averse, which I am totally ok with when it comes to things like roller coasters. But I’m trying to become more brave about trying new experiences and traveling more.

Ana Maria Avatar

Recent Purchases: Nothing new, postponing all purchases until September when all the birthday deals come in. 😅

Weekend plans: I have to drop by the laboratory for the “annual” blood tests (annual has been a big stretch during this pandemic). I am still contemplating getting a last minute ticket to The Lion King musical. Otherwise the regular stuff.

Are you an adrenaline seeker? Since I like being outdoors a lot, hiking, climbing, and I did a lot of mud races and Spartan like races in the past, one would say yes. But I do those more because I like being active and push my body to the limits, rather than the adrenaline rush.
I’m not the person to seek dangerous situations just for the rush. I never enjoyed thrill rides, wished to do bungee jumping and jumping off from a plane, and I’m the kind of person who only invests in low risk assets. 😅

Teaching them how to “dog” is truly precious 💕 Also, congrats on your getting a new car!

Purchases/rediscoveries: Nothing purchased…yet. Might place a much needed order with Ulta today, though.
Last night, I rediscovered my tube of PML Executive Realness and Nyx Slim Lip Pencil in Plum. Made me feel extra pretty for a change! Also, the pale mint from my lost, then finally found, Buxom palette that I put together years ago. It looks so good with any green or blue-brown duochrome eyeshadow look and makes the green in my eyes come to life!

Weekend plans: Probably just laundry, meeting tomorrow morning, and I might go to The Neighborhood Market for chopped green peppers and onions to make Cuban black bean soup with rice, since we’re supposed to have a MUCH cooler than normal and very soggy weekend!

Are you an adrenaline seeker? Heck NO!!! I’ll gladly leave ziplining, skiing, giant roller coasters to braver souls than myself. However, I would absolutely LOVE to visit Oak Creek Sliding Rock park and slide down the creek!

Genevieve Avatar

Is that the Buxom shade of Jaded Nancy? One of the most stellar mint shades that I have ever seen. Needless to say we couldn’t get it here in Aus (or any of Buxom great eyeshadows from back in the day).
I hope that the weather does the right thing and cool down so you can get to The Neighbourhood Market, which would be lovely to visit to get some fresh produce.

Genevieve Avatar

Aw – isn’t Winnie so gorgeous with the puppies? They must adore him – a big brother to play with. And it’s nice to see that your living room looks a lot like ours when Harry is over too – toys everywhere.
And how exciting for you both – a new car! There will be a lot of new tech stuff to get your head around too and I hope you have an enjoyable time going for a drive in it. Winnie will love it. Happy birthday to Shaun too.

Recent Purchases: nada. Still waiting for my SG purchases to arrive.
Rediscoveries: PMG Sublime Mini, ND Glam and rotating my lipsticks.

Weekend Plans: Nothing much on the horizon. My youngest son (father of our grandchildren) caught covid a week or so ago and has been plagued with a racing heart, chest pains and fatigue. He went to a post covid respiratory clinic that has been set up in our local area to get it all checked out. They did all kinds of tests, but found that his heart was in good shade and it was just a post covid response. He is much better now – no chest pains or racing heart, but still left with the fatigue.
So I did a LOT of cooking for them last week. Harry, who is very nearly two, is cutting his molars and they are giving him a lot of trouble. Red cheeks, sore gums and pain. We took care of him for a couple of days whilst his mum was at work and he was definitely not his usual bubbly self.
So our weekend is just going to be very low key. Our weather is still quite cold and wet.

Are you an adrenaline seeker? Nope, not one little tiny bit!

Genevieve Avatar

Thanks Rachel, it was a bit scary for a time there, especially when it took him a couple of days to seek medical help (I could have strangled him!). You just can’t ignore chest pains like that and think you are OK…honestly Rachel I could have jumped down the phone when I heard this.
Anyway, he is better now and that’s what matters. We are just hoping that Harry’s molar comes through too.

Nancy T Avatar

Oh Genevieve, I am so sorry that your son took a particularly rough and scary sounding hit of the Covid virus! But, I’m also relieved to read that this was no lasting issue or anything that could potentially cause cardiac issues, though. As someone who inadvertently found out that I do indeed have A-Fib, though on the milder end, I do know how TERRIFYING it feels when your heart is racing! Poor guy! But, at least he has you to get good homemade food to him and family. Hopefully, neither you nor your husband catch it.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I just got a Sephora package delivered: Sephora #Lipstories Offshore lipstick and 4 shades of YSL The Slim Velvet Radical lipstick-Rouge Paradoxe, True Chili, Brown No Way Back, and Radical Chili. Also, while running errands Wednesday in a nearby city northeast of my hometown, I found an older celebrity fragrance-Katy Perry Killer Queen Royal Revolution-clearanced out for $15 at a Walgreens near my errands.

Weekend plans: Worked all day today, weekly grocery run sometime tomorrow (exactly when depends on when the thunderstorms hit), not sure about Sunday.

Are you an adrenaline seeker? Not generally, but I do love roller coasters!

Zia Avatar

Recent Purchases: Reza Beauty / Reza Lashes had a 50% off sale so I picked up a few fun things!
Rediscoveries: I used some drugstore makeup by City Colors, Milani and Loreal!
Weekend plans: Going to run some errands tomorrow and then Sunday we’re having a nice family dinner with duck!
Are you an adrenaline seeker? NOT AT ALL.
