Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I’m waiting on a Sephora order that should arrive today, which includes the new Makeup by Mario SoftSculpt products and NARS’ cream bronzers.

Weekend plans: Write reviews, maybe take photos/swatches. It’s been an overwhelming week, as I ended up taking Winnie to the ER in the middle of the night as he vomited a few times (enough to make me wary), though they did not find anything that suggested a foreign object/blockage via xray. I think it might be acid reflux, but we continue to monitor him. He acts totally fine, though, so at least there’s that!

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Not a one! Survive the heat, I guess 😉

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Thank goodness that your precious boy Winnie is alright! That must’ve been frightening, though. Probably does have something to do with his esophagus, it seems. 💙🐶💙

Purchases/rediscoveries: Well, several of my fingertips have something going on. Weird thick callouses that lift up and crack into a more rough, painful type of peeling and are driving me crazy! And so I caved and bought Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel as a last resort before getting a referral to a dermatologist. But, no makeup in either category.

Weekend plans: Zoom meeting and getting out to the food store. Other than those two things, nothing really. It’s only late May and already the AZ desert heat has gotten to me.

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Other than getting the all clear from my gynecologic oncologist to do physical therapy and go swimming way near the end end of June, a big old “NOTHING”. Wishing like crazy that I could get to go to the beach! I don’t care if it’s Cali or NJ, either!

Genevieve Avatar

That fingertip peeling is sounding fairly serious Nancy – have you touched something with bleach in it? That’s the only thing I can think of that may have caused this reaction. Going to the doctors would be a start – what did they think it is due to?
Yes, you are a long way from a beach Nancy and I hope you can, at least, visit a pool – although I guess that the oncologist is worried about infections getting into your scar tissue. Hope everything heals soon.

Mariella Avatar

Oooh, Nancy – I don’t know if a peeling gel is the best thing to apply to your fingertips when they’re already peeling and callused. Sounds painful, and I think it’s probably wisest to see an expert rather than trying to self-doctor in this situation.

Recent Purchases: Nothing! There are a few palettes I looked at and decided against at the last minute. I’m doing well on my low buy so far.

Rediscoveries: I used the CT Lightwand in Pinkgasm a few times in the last week and am reminded of how much I like it. I do set it with a powder blush so it doesn’t move all over the place, and it’s lovely.

Weekend plans: My husband has Covid and my son is getting over strep (and possibly Covid) so I will be isolating and taking care of two sickies. I might also be sick, but home tests are coming up negative and my symptoms are very mild, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Nothing at the moment!

So sorry to hear about Winnie and hope he’s feeling better!!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I’m loving focusing on blushes with Pat McGrath’s blush trios. Today I used the bright pink Cherish with PMG Life on Mars on the inner part of my upper lid, with some Astral shades from PMG Subliminal.

Weekend plans: Watch the Champions League final with some soccer friends on Saturday, then on Sunday head to NYC to do a double bleach process. Very excited to go blond, and also to get to spend time with my hair stylist and best friend from law school.

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Heading to LA for a wedding of some very special granola/science-loving/naturalist friends. It’s going to be an amazing time.

Recent purchases: a larger bottle of e11ement hypochlorous acid spray (thanks to poster Z), Ouai Detangling and Frizz Fighting Leave in Conditioner, also Ouai’s St. Bart’s Scrub (I would never use it on my scalp but I’m loving it for my body), Sephora/Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector in the lightest shade. I also got a tube of Eveline Revitalum foot cream because I read a good review for it and with sandal weather, the more I can do for my feet, the better.

Weekend plans: my daughter and son in law are planning to visit so we can see their new car. I was hoping they could come for Sunday brunch to the golf club but they have friends coming for lunch so they’ll come by later. Tomorrow, the gym and then a trip to Chapters. That’s pretty much it except for maybe cutting off the dead flower heads from my spring bulbs.

What I’m looking forward to in June: a second baby shower for my daughter and her baby; hitting my goal of dead lifting 200 pounds (I’m at 185 X 3 sets of 3 so far); school finishing so I can sleep in late!

Genevieve Avatar

A new car and soon to be new baby – I guess your daughter and son in law are getting ready for their little bundle soon. They’ll be adding the baby carseat next. Over here, we get the baby car capsule from the local council for 6 months and all you have to do is clip it into the carseat (facing backwards – apparently that is the safest position). After 6 months you then have to add your own carseat and get it fitted.
That is amazing how you can already lift 185 pounds – you must be quite fit.
Have a lovely weekend.

Son in law’s car was written off after an accident. It wasn’t all that old (we and the in laws give our cars to our kids when we replace and this was his mom’s “old” car but not that old, as I say). Daughter’s car is older (my old Mazda Sport Wagon, which was probably my favourite car of all the ones I’ve owned) but it’s really on its last wheels! As to car seats, it’s so long since we were in the market for those but the one they want is the one that goes with the Uppababy pram/stroller we got them and it’s a pricey gizmo! I think they may be on the hook for it themselves, though… I don’t think anyone’s got it for them yet. But they did test out this car (and the others they were looking at) to make sure the car seat would fit (son in law is tall so has to have the driver’s seat quite far back). The system you have in Australia sounds like a good one and a perfect way to ensure that all babies are safe when they go home from hospital. I imagine we have programs here to ensure that those who can’t afford a safe car seat for their newborn are provided with one (I sure hope so).

As for the weightlifting thing, I’ve actually amazed myself! I remember wanting to be able to deadlift 100 pounds by my birthday last October and when my trainer said “Hey, we can do this long before that….” I thought she was out of her mind! I don’t know that I’m all that fit (even walking has become a struggle, especially on grass or uneven ground) but I do want to go into my knee surgery in the best shape I can so I am more likely to have a successful recovery.

If Winston does have GERD, he can take both H2 antihistamines and PPIs like omeprazole. Ask your vet for recs and doses. My vets prefer Pepcid. They work well. Funny how our pets get great care, even when we don’t.

Winnie is so adorable!

Recent Purchases: MAC lipsticks in Yash and Viva Glam II, plus I did a Back-to-MAC and got a new tube of Velvet Teddy because I wore mine out. Also bought UD Naked 2 Basics eye palette, Fresh Sugar Lip Polish, and two fragrances: Tiffany & Love and Nest Indigo.

Rediscoveries: UD Naked 2 Basics palette. (If you’re wondering how this palette appears in both my purchases and rediscoveries, I found this very old palette of mine in a drawer the other day. The two most important shades were panned, so I went out and bought a new one.)

Weekend Plans: Our sweet old dog passed away last weekend, so we are still dealing with that. It’s very difficult. We’re going to start working on putting together a big scrapbook of him.

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Big get-together with out-of-town friends later in the month.

Helene Avatar

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so very hard to lose a pet, I know. Scrapbooking and talking about all the memories can perhaps help, I do hope it does.
I still try to recover from losing my young dog last year and fear the day I’ll not have my 10 year old to keep me sane and safe.
Take good care of yourselves and allow time to grieve.

Cat Avatar

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Just the LA Girl green concealer! Hoping I like it because my old green concealer stick was old on me!

Weekend plans: My brother will be making us BBQ outside again! Going to try a new glazed honey recipe for the meat!

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Not at all! Just stay by air conditioning.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I got one of the Kaja Whipped Dreams blushes when I went to Sephora earlier this week, and I really like it. It blends really nicely over foundation. It says you can use it on eyes too but I have not tried it there yet.

Weekend plans: Catching up on some housework/organizing over the long weekend and making a belated birthday cake for me and hubs tomorrow.

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Nothing super solid yet, but my best friend who lives in Oregon will probably come down for a few days.

Genevieve Avatar

How scary for you that Winnie had to go to the ER in the middle of the night – I am glad to read that he is much better now, but you are probably still a bit shaken and tired. Hopefully you can have a rest this weekend.

Recent Purchases: On one of my favourite online retailers, Ozsale, Weleda has been added to the site and I purchased quite a few of their products (half price): the Skin food, almond cleansing milk and a sensitive daytime moisturiser.
Rediscoveries: Just doing my usual rotation of lipsticks and eye palettes. I have started using Lorac’s Fairytale Forest, as the shades are more autumn toned and it is beautiful.

Weekend Plans: We are still on our kitchen appliances quest. We have found an oven that is better than the one that I was originally looking at (a double oven), so that is good. But the cooktop I really liked is a glass one and I have read online that they can crack or chip easily if anything is dropped on it. Hmmm. So I need to go back to the store and revisit the stainless steel cooktops. As for the exhaust fan/rangehood – that is going to be more tricky. We currently have a pull out rangehood that is pretty useless and we will probably need to remove the cupboard over the top of it to get in a better, more efficient model. That cupboard is useless too as I cannot reach it and we have never really stored anything in it either.
So that’s the state of play at the moment…

Interesting plans in June: Apart from my youngest son’s birthday in late June – nothing is really on the horizon. I can understand and relate to your comment Christine about surviving the heat as our summer was brutal.

Recent Purchases: I wanted to get the a small but nice small gift for a specific young lady, so I made a Sephora order for the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Jet Set (I personally hate that smell, but others love it). I also got for me the mini Bumble and bumble Prêt-à-Powder dry shampoo, so I could meet the money value to get for free the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair!™ Hair Challenge Sample Set (again, I don’t like Briogeo, it will be a gift; but the sample shampoo and conditioner are incredibly generous for a free gift with $35 order).

Weekend plans: Since I won’t be able probably to go hiking until the end of June, I’m going to hike all weekend long. Hopefully I will also wake-up early enough to go to a place ~2 hours away… otherwise I’ll keep close to home.
Besides that it’s regular stuff, chores, cooking, reading, phone calls with me family, and a little bit of gift shopping in between.

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Well… yes… but so many changes, delays and cancelations already happened… that I’m afraid to speak about my plans and jinx it. 😆

Thinking about a CP order, which I hardly need and will have to pack eventually. So sorry about Win and Seraphine’s dog. There’s nothing like the love of an old dog. I hope Patticake, my puppy mill mother, lasts at least to 14. She deserves 1/2 of a great life. Funny dog ER stories to counteract the sadness: 6# long haired dachshund. She was pooping purple., so ER. Turns out she had eaten some poke weed berries Native Americans used for purple dye and it was nothing. Once I was sitting on the bottom deck in my underwear at 5A. Same dog was attacking something that I knew would be a snake. Being barefoot, I had to run up two flights to get shoes. Nothing seen. Either it got away or… 2 days, no poops. She had an X-ray which revealed these fat eyelashy looking things throughout her digestive system. Snake ribs! 17”! She had ‘given herself’ a partial ileus. When that precious but fierce girl crossed the rainbow bridge, I was holding her upright and syringe feeding her. If only they could live forever.

Helene Avatar

Poor Winnie having to go to the ER in the middle of the night. You must have been so worried. I hope it was just a one time thing. Can he have eaten something that did agree with him?
No purchases no rediscoveries either.
Weekend plans, nothing unless you count watching Gotham on Netflix.
And no plans for June.
I make my life sound so boring today. 🙂 It’s not that bad at all, just feeling a bit, just a little bit down I guess. It’ll pass, I’m sure.

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I’m waiting on a Sephora order that should arrive today, which includes the new Makeup by Mario SoftSculpt products and NARS’ cream bronzers.

Weekend plans: Worked all day and picked up artificial cemetery flowers Friday, weekly grocery run Saturday, decorate family graves Sunday. My dad might go to the Apple Store over the long weekend-possibly Monday?-but I don’t know yet when he’ll go or if he’ll need me to come along.

Do you have any interesting plans for June? Same as Christine’s-survive the heat.

Copy-paste fail the first time around-oops! Check to make sure you actually edited all the answers to yours, Nikki! *smacks forehead* Sorry, Christine! If you want to, feel free to remove my original comment and leave this one up.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My Half Magic Beauty order came today. I’m sure I’ll use the Wing Magician stencil often, and my mom said she can’t wait to see the neon purple Spiritually Complex highlighter on me!
