Recent Purchases: Waiting on my Menagerie Indigo Ink palette to ship! I also repurchased the Milani Luminoso Blush (I havenβt tried it since it was reformulated) and it is absolutely stunning. I am so impressed with the formula of Milaniβs baked products; they make my cheeks look airbrushed, itβs unreal.
Rediscoveries: Milani Luminoso Blush.
Weekend plans: Weβre going to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch! We went to the same one last year and it was so fun.
What are you looking forward to this month?: So many things! October is my favorite month: changing leaves, crisp air, sweaters, we have fall festivals, a trip to an amusement park, anniversaries and Zoo Boo (Halloween at the zoo)β¦ all of our weekends in October are full of fall fun already! Iβm so excited!
Recent Purchases: Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks in Caramel (new to me) and Amethyst (replacement), and Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in Cool Grey (replacement).
Weekend plans: Working on my music, relaxing, reading, grocery shopping.
What are you looking forward to this month? Putting up our Halloween decorations.
Recent Purchases: Debated until the very first minute if you make a purchase during my birthday month (September), but I went through with my Sephora order.
I purchased the FORVR Mood Mini Candle Gift Set in Send Moods, because I was very curious from the launch of what Jackie Aina’s candles are all about. I haven’t burned candles in a long while, let’s see how that’s coming.
As my birthday gift I choose the NARS set, just because I’m completely not interested in the Laneige one; but even so, I’ll just give it to someone else. The Sephora birthday gifts are getting worse each year.
I got the IGK Good Behavior Blowout Balm trial size as an offer, redeemed points for a mini of the Drunk Elephant Protini Powerpeptides Resurfacing Serum.
Rediscoveries: That I don’t like Lancome Monsieur Big mascara (and similar). I had a mini received for free, opened it since my current one “expired”… I just hate how heavy it makes my lashes (but I guess others love this mascara exactly for the volume effect).
Weekend plans: Enjoying the surprising warm weather for October. Nothing special except the regular, I might do some clear out and maybe find where to recycle old clothes. I usually wear pieces until they look bad, so donations are off charts. π But I don’t like to use green washing companies like H&M for textile recycling.
What are you looking forward to this month?: I still somewhat hope that this month I’ll be able to make travel plans for November; it would be two years already since going back to visit my family in Europe. But my home country already went back in the red scenario, my sister is back to school from home… I don’t know things are getting better or worse.
Either way, I look forward to pumpkin season, baking more, maybe be able to wear sweaters without boiling hot.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I replenished some skincareβ-a fresh bottle of Iunik Complete Calendula Cleansing Oil and Melano CC Vitamin C serum from a local Asian skincare shop. I am really trying to buy things from local shops instead of Sephulta and Amazon.
Weekend plans: Attending a march and rally Saturday afternoon and a birthday brunch on Sunday.
What are you looking forward to this month?: I have tickets for Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams, a show at the Brooklyn Museum. Their past shows on fashion have been wonderful. As a general matter, though, I prefer spring and summer, so I donβt exactly love October.
RECENT PURCHASES; I came home from my trip to some orders.
“Alien Cosmetics Not Normal Palette. This will be a great one for fall.
*A bunch of Looxi Beauty shimmery, sparkly eyeshadow singles from the last big sale.
*NARS Climax Palette. It’s stunning, but bittersweet because Mel Thompson’s video on it convinced me to buy it. R.I.P. Mel β€οΈ
*Huda Beauty Jaguar Wild Obsessions Palette. Another stunner.
RECENT REDISCOVERIES: Tarte. I took mostly Tarte products with me on our Hawaii trip:. The palettes traveled well, were compact, and gave me adequate options for 10 days. I took the original ROTS Palette, ROTS Sizzle Palette, Make Believe in Yourself Palette, and the Blush Bazaar Palette. Lights, Camera, Splashes Mascara — it held up to humidity, rain, and a shark cage dive without budging or irritating my eyes. Their liquid lipstick didn’t smear under my mask.
WEEKEND PLANS: Packing to fly to New Orleans for a few days. Our family is going to meet my younger son’s long distance bestie of the last 10 years and her family in person for the first time. Exciting and a little nerve-wracking. His friend is a sweetheart, and her grandmother was really nice the few times I’ve talked on the phone.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS MONTH?:
Several things! Visiting New Orleans and meeting my son’s friend in person. I’m hoping to visit a few spooky sights while there. My birthday is this month. Halloween is two weeks after that. Wearing sweaters, my favorite clothing item.
Have a wonderful time in New Orleans Rachel and I hope that the meeting with your younger son’s friend and family is a joy for you all.
Thank you! We met his friend, her mom, her grandmother, her uncle, and a couple of her aunts. They were super nice, and we got along like family instantly.
Recent purchases: a new bottle of the Clarins Total Eye Lift that I use (it’s the replacement for their Super Restorative eye cream…I’m sure it’s the same stuff with a new name, new bottle and jacked up price) but it came in a set with a mini mascara and a toner (I think – I need to take a closer look), a bottle of Soap & Glory Clean on Me body wash and some eye drops! I went into Sephora to pick up my birthday gift and while there, I picked up the Sephora Microsmooth Multi Tasking Baked Face Powder. They were out of Nude, which is probably the best shade for me but I really wanted to try it so I got Beige which is a bit dark and yellow toned but it’s a very forgiving powder so I’m okay. I also bought myself a new pair of Blundstone boots (I have a black pair and wear them so often but I really wanted to add the Rustic Brown ones to my shoe collection), a great bright yellow rain slicker (I’ve wanted one for so long; what better way to brighten up a rainy day?) and a new down winter coat.
Weekend Plans: training at the gym tomorrow with my trainer and then probably taking it easy for the rest of the weekend – maybe do some baking in preparation for Thanksgiving next weekend.
What I’m looking forward to this month: seeing 2 of my 3 kids (and their partners) on Thanksgiving weekend, my upcoming birthday, the fall weather (fall is my favourite time of year). Maybe a trip to Ottawa for a few days.
Seeing your family for Thanksgiving would truly be wonderful. And a holiday away, even to Ottawa would be lovely.
The Blundstone boots would be perfect for your autumn/winter and I do like the Rustic brown shade myself. Expensive, but then they last a long time.
Well, if you think that’s not getting through, just try to imagine a CAT not knowing how to jump up on a bed! Penelope just won’t. And that is so bizarre to me since cats freely jump up on literally everything, LOL.
Purchases/rediscoveries: At Sephora, I placed an order for all skincare. Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream and Retinol Serum, The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetra-something 20% & Vitamin F Serum, FAB Pure Skin Facial Cleanser, and Laneige Gummi Bears Lip Mask.
Weekend Plans: This has been a very difficult week. Between the shocking and untimely death of my favorite YT’er, Mel Thompson, and my own serious Crohn’s flare the past two days, I’m thoroughly drained. Yet, I still need to get out and do my monthly grocery shopping, plus a literal mountain of laundry. On top of that, my phone no longer lets me connect to Zoom meetings. So yeah, this week sucked, and the weekend doesn’t look so great either.
What are you looking forward to in October? Hopefully, more rain and cooler temps. Also, peace of mind and rest. Might buy a new outfit over the next week. Something I saw on Old Navy’s site. Cropped jeans and a cute top.
Poor Winston! Why does furniture have to be so far off the ground?
Purchases: Nothing. I was thinking of making a ColourPop order since I liked one of the orchid lipsticks, but honestly, how often am I wearing lipsticks these days? Almost never.
Rediscoveries: I haven’t technically rediscovered it yet, but one of the color combo inspo posts that Christine shared on IG reminded me of SG Green Mango, and I think I’ll have to figure out where I’ve got that stashed and play with it this weekend.
Weekend plans: Not really sure, TBH. My spouse is out of town so I’m flying solo. I’ll probably take myself out for dinner tomorrow night. Thinking of also spending some time going through my closet (daywear and costuming) and weeding out a bunch of stuff that I never wear.
What am I looking forward to this month: I’m going to be taking a lot of online dance classes, including starting an 8-week course on creating dance films on Tuesday, and a 3 hour workshop on Arabic music next weekend.
How cute is Winston!
Recent Purchases: I bought Weeleda’s Skin Food some time ago and recently have given it a go. It’s quite a thick cream that I use at night time and it has been excellent for my dry facial skin. So much so, that I have bought another tube of it.
Rediscoveries: None really – just using a lot of my Pixi Beauty Reflex Light palette and CT’s The Rebel 2020.
Weekend Plans: Still in deepest, darkest lockdown and it is not going to be easing anytime soon, given our covid delta numbers – which are sky high. The push is to get everyone vaccinated, including teenagers, as quickly as possible.
The weather is humid and rainy here – so not much fun there either. The kids are finding it difficult to be cooped up (and so are we). We can travel 15km from home, which does help a bit. But no visiting.
Our weekend is going to be basic – cleaning, laundry, cleaning and laundry. Maybe a drive.
Looking forward to October: October can be quite a hottish month here and as I hate the heat, it reminds me of the impending summer and all that that brings. I hope it will be a reasonable summer, not like what you have experienced in the Northern Hemisphere with all of your terrible bushfires and heat waves.
Daylight saving starts soon too.
Sorry to read that Pandemic news is still bad for you, G. It’s not exactly peachy here either but things are starting to look a bit better with mask mandates and vaccine passports being required almost everywhere, thank goodness. For the life of me, I don’t understand the refusal of some people to accept the efficacy of the vaccine (with the realization that every medical treatment or medication – even asprin or vitamins – can cause a reaction in a small # of people). Dr. Fauci spoke at McGill University in Montreal the other day and addressed so eloquently the whole issue of “individual freedom” vs responsibilities as members of society….
I guess you answered my meandering question in the review about the new CT shadow palette when I asked about that Rebel quad. Clearly you love it so I really should get it! I pity you the hot and humid weather that’s approaching for you; we’re just starting to leave it behind and moving into fall (though in S. Ontario, fall, as I’m always lamenting, is depressingly short; we slide from heatwave to blizzard in the blink of an eye).
The pandemic news just gets worse and worse here and we have zero hope of opening up anytime soon. There have even been exposure sites close to us, which never happened last year.
We’ve also experienced some quite violent anti vax protest marches in our city and they have gone to all different parks and place to try and thwart the police.
They have also been quite menacing to members of the public who have been lawfully out getting supplies or exercising in public. It has really spoilt the tone of our city and I find their behaviour reprehensible on all levels.
We’ve had similar “protest gatherings” here, including outside of hospitals, making it almost impossible for people who are arriving for cancer treatments, etc., to gain access to the buildings without being (a) harrassed and (b) possibly exposed to the virus by these unvaccinated protesters (since some medical treatments prevent people from getting the vaccine). Police and security people have had to be brought in so that patients and staff can get into hospitals, clinics, etc. unmolested. What the hell is WRONG with people???
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Purchased–small Colourpop haul with the libra quad, Just a Glitch palette, and a blush stick. Rediscovered–Jouer Rose Gold blush duo.
Weekend plans: Bleach and dye my roots, make a cake for work, read. My husband and I might go to the new First Americans Museum that just opened here. It is supposed to be amazing.
What are you looking forward to this month?: Watching spooky (and probably silly) movies with my husband, doing a friend read of Frankenstein with my good friend, my new glasses coming in the mail.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing of note this week.
Weekend plans: Special activities at work today, weekly grocery run tomorrow, Sunday is open.
What are you looking forward to this month?: I’m loving seeing people’s Halloween decorations! Although I’m not sure what possessed someone who lives near our local Longhorn to put a giant inflatable Billy (the creepy puppet from the Saw franchise) on top of their porch roof.
Edit: things I’ve been looking for are all clumping together this week! I just had to place 2 orders today: PMG Celestial Odyssey Mothership Mega palette and Charlotte Tilbury Hot Emily and Love Liberty lipsticks from Sephora and a bunch of stuff from the Revolution x DC collab: Forever Flawless This City Needs Me 18-pan palette, 9-pan palettes in Harley Quinn Daddy’s Little Monster and Catwoman Jewel Thief, Batman Bat Light highlighter, Joker Smile lipgloss (which YouTuber Clare Walsh says is actually more like a liquid lipstick), Batman handheld mirror (shaped like the Batsignal icon!), Joker Put On a Happy Face brush set, and Harley Quinn Puddin’ makeup bag.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No purchases.
I’m waiting for my ND order, it ought to have been here by now, but when I checked it said it could be delayed. I’ve had such bad luck with my last two orders, both getting lost in transition. One from the US (BECCA) the other from the EU (CT). If I don’t get my palettes by the end of next week I’ll have to contact ND.
Rediscovery, Illamasqua blushes, I have three and they are actually lovely, both the colours and the result.
Weekend plans: Nothing, just same old. Walking the dog, I like that a lot, no I love it. He’s just so preoccupied right now with the scents of the lovely, willing bitches who leaves their calling cards all over the place. π
Cleaning both outside and in. Oh, what fun! π
What are you looking forward to this month?: October isn’t a favourite month. Halloween isn’t a thing here, but I can have pumpkin latte, and that is a very nice thing! So that’s that, I guess.
I just read in two other posts about Mel Thompson. So sad learning about her passing. I always liked her You Tube films.
Recent Rediscoveries: Lorac Noir which I havenβt pulled out in forever but I love it (again).
Plans for the weekend: Nursing my allergies. Maybe taking some photos.
Looking forward to: My birthday month!!!
Recent Purchases: Touch of Glam Lucid Lavender and Twisted Vivids 2!
Rediscoveries: Makeup Geek Voltage!
Weekend plans: Maybe cut my hair
What are you looking forward to this month?: My birthday and just general October/fall awesomeness!!! Cooler temps too!
