This week's doggo photo/video...
Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group!
I haven’t been here in a very, very long time, but now that I’m back to the office, I’m starting to wear makeup on a daily basis, so here I am.
First off, the puppy is over-the-top adorable! I could watch that video over and over. 🙂
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No new purchases, but I’m rediscovering makeup in general after a 16-month hiatus. Due to vision problems in one eye, I don’t do elaborate eye makeup anymore, so I’m loving my Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks. One swipe in the crease, some blending, another swipe on lower lash line, add mascara, and I’m done.
Weekend plans: Zoom happy hour with friends, relaxing, reading the book I’m currently obsessed with, and working on my music in GarageBand.
What is your creative outlet? Writing and recording music.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I am on a low-buy right now, so nothing new. I have been playing more with the PMG luxe Venus in Fleurs quad, which is still pretty new in my collection. I love it so much!
Weekend plans: My husband and I are going on an overnight trip to Tulsa. We will have some nice diners, go to a museum or two, and get some dranks. It should be pretty chill!
What is your creative outlet?: Writing, makeup, painting. I doodle a lot too, and at work I have been letting my coworkers adopt my little doodles. Some people have quite a gallery going.
I’ve recently bought the Terra Moon shadows they have on Urban Outfitters! I’m excited to get them because I’ve been wanting to try their mattes for a year. (I’ve got my eye on a few other things I’d like to get but I’ve got to be an adult for a little bit and not spend the money…
My weekend consists of cuddling up on the couch with my partner and being with my puppy on Saturday. Sunday is our, “We’ve been meaning to clean this week but have been too tired…”
Doodling and drawing have been my creative outlet as of late. Makeup is fun but it’s nice to take a break and enjoy other things creatively!
Recent Purchases:
I’m waiting for my The Ordinary ‘Buffet’ to arrive today, which I’m out of.
I’m going for a no-buy July in all other things.
Weekend Plans:
This morning I have to take my 16mo old to get two of her shots needed: rabies, distemper and a nose squirt for kennel cough. She doesn’t mind the walk over to the vet but once there getting her in the door (we still can’t go in with our dogs–no idea why!!) with a stranger is a bit of a tussle. She’s strong that one.
I always take a small bag of tiny cut up cheese or all beef hotdogs to hand over with her. I try to make the experience as positive as possible for my two.
The rest of the weekend is pretty much dog focused as well 🙂
Creative Outlet:
I’m a writer by trade, but these days it’s a lot of instagram stuff, my own but more so the dogs’ accounts. 🙂
Purchases/rediscoveries: Nothing this week. The call to finalize my NEW JOB (wooo!) ended up not being a video call so I didn’t do my makeup, lol.
Weekend plans: Tonight we’re going on a Rum Cruise on Lake Washington. Turns out it’s going to cost an arm and a leg to take a Lyft down there, and public transportation between our small town and that part of the city takes 1.5 hours. So I probably won’t sign up for this sort of event again. The joys of suburb life. Sunday, we’re going to a member appreciation party at the local cider brewery I have a membership at. This makes me sound like a major lush! In between those two events, probably housework and yardwork.
My creative outlets: I dance, I write, I do beadwork, and I do embroidery. Plus makeup! In the past I’ve also expressed my creativity through tabletop roleplaying games, but that’s been a little harder during the pandemic. I consider myself a very creative person and I love to have a lot of creative hobbies, with differing levels of engagement and complexity (since my work also requires creativity, sometimes I want the low-effort creativity of an embroidery kit where someone else has already come up with the idea and I just bring it to life).
Congrats on the new job!
Congratulations on your new job, AJ!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: The only thing I’ve purchased this week was a new Tatcha water cream. It’s my holy grail moisturizer, so when I get to about half-empty, I buy a new one. I’ll never run out, boy howdee.
Weekend plans: I’ll probably go on a walk with the husband and do a little yardwork. We’ve been trying to get out of the house a little more because our state lifted all restrictions, and despite the both of us being fully vaccinated (and still wearing our masks, thank you), it’s been…hard getting back out there for me. It’s been extremely hard. I’m not ready yet.
So weekends become quiet times to recharge. And do housework, haha.
What is your creative outlet?: I’ve mentioned before I write. Last year, as an escape mechanism, I wrote a 60,000 word novel for NaNoWriMo. It’s still being worked on, but the draft is solid. Writing is cathartic for me; I’ll write emotionally heavy stuff and I find it gets me through my own emotions.
Eyeshadow is another creative outlet for me – nowhere else on my face gets the whole rainbow treatment, not even my lips – and so are nails. I still haven’t quite mastered polygels, but at least I can apply tips and wear gel polish, haha!
That’s awesome! Another friend of mine finished a book that began with NaNoWriMo. I really need to try it one day.
Recent Purchases: A Paula’s Choice order full of items I needed to replenish: Lipscreen SPF 50, CLEAR Extra Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 5% Benzoyl Peroxide (always a mini since it’s an active that goes bad fast), CLEAR Purifying Clay Mask, RESIST Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser, Smooth Finish Conditioner (I somehow regret not ordering the shampoo as well, just in case it goes again out of stock), Daily Replenishing Body Cream (unfortunately the body retinol was out of stock), Smoothing Primer Serum SPF 30, DEFENSE Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30 (a mini which I take on the go to re-apply sunscreen when only my hands are exposed). I also got a free (gift with purchase) 10% Niacinamide Booster which I tried before and did nothing for me.
Weekend plans: Surviving the heatwave, finding a cold forest to hike in, the usual stuff. And getting more sleep, but somehow that plan never goes through. I also need to throw away some clothes and rags, trying to find out a textile recycling program except that thing H&M does.
What is your creative outlet?: Since I work in a kind or research based field, a would say most times my creative outlet is work, although it’s an engineering position.
When I was younger I used to write stories; not with any intent to publish (I hope no one gets to ever read them), but just to exercise my imagination. Nowadays I just run the stories through my head, although I don’t do it often.
I wish that slowly I can make cooking my creative outlet. I cook a lot and I really enjoy it, but usually it’s just getting inspiration from a recipe, but using my preferred ingredients and technique substitutions. I would wish to create my own recipes, and also be more creative with plating.
The creativity in engineering is so inspiring to me! So different from how I think!
Recent Purchases: The BH Cosmetics Passion in Paris palette. It’s a good one!
Rediscoveries: Still doing my Kaliedos Makeup 6 pan focus palettes; this week it was VR Neon. Such a good one!
Weekend plans: Shopping for my son’s birthday and hopefully painting my front door.
What is your creative outlet?: Definitely makeup. I am also a graphic designer, so I have to be creative every day for my job and can suffer from creative burnout.
I ❤️ Winnie vids! He’s growing up so fast!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Nothing in either department, but I haven’t worn makeup all week. This past week has been incredibly busy and stressful with a “situation” here at this apartment complex, so there’s been literally no time for self-care beyond the basics. 😔
Weekend Plans: Nothing set in stone, but if my phone cooperates, then my Zoom meeting tomorrow morning plus part of my yearly Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Really, I need to just get out, take the buses and buy myself a new phone. It’s just been so hot, and now, very humid, too. Perhaps a friend will give me a ride. Idk. Hopefully. This past week has been rough on so many levels, but it has also been a motivating wakeup call. So I am now making the phone calls to NJ for a place to relocate to as soon as possible. There is no longer anything keeping me here.
What is your creative outlet? Definitely eye makeup looks! Plus, I used to do a ton of creative writing, especially song lyrics. I really do miss those moments when all the words just came to me out of the blue! I do so hope that they will again once more.
What a cuddly little puppy he is!
Recent Purchases: Nada – still waiting for my On the Horizon Light to arrive.
Recent Discoveries: I have used my Dior Jardin quint a few times this week and I am loving the teal shade.
Weekend Plans: On Saturday I am having my stent out (Yay!) finally and hopefully that will be the end of all of my kidney troubles.
On Sunday, my twin sister is coming out to visit and will be bringing her famous sandwiches for lunch and a container of home made cookies that are the recipe from our late Aunty’s family. So it will be lovely to see her.
The baby is unwell at the moment with a bad cold, so there has been not a lot of sleep for his parents due to his blocked nose.
Creative outlet: It is definitely my makeup too and sometimes it is cooking.
Oh Genevieve ..you have a twin !? It makes me happy to think there are two of you cuties running around …💕
I hope the baby gets well soon.
IHave a great visit with your sister!
Genevieve, I’m so glad that you are getting your stent out! I’ll be hoping and praying for smooth sailing for your kidneys to be problem free here on in.
Hopefully, your family’s young one will be feeling better soon, too.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My collection is a little bit OOC – there’s hardly ever anything that comes out that I need/want these days. I did buy your palettes, which are great! And, Sephora re-stocked the Melt – She’s in Parties palette, which I kicked myself for not buying when it was originally released. One of the few items of theirs that I actually regret not buying (whereas others, I somewhat regret buying). Also, I grabbed some Danessa Myricks contouring balm and the Viseart Brights palette when it was on sale.
Weekend plans: We just received the official word that my brother will be returning from his overseas deployment, so, we are packing and closing up our house and buttoning-up our work schedules so we can make our way over to his house (10+ hours from us) to meet his wife so we can be at the army base for when his plane arrives. It’s been a long year with him gone in the middle east, on top of covid and everything else.
What is your creative outlet?: Well – makeup. But, besides makeup, I work on cars. I had a stay-at-home dad. He was handicapped and we restored our first vehicle together when I was 5. Currently, I am working on a 1974 F-250 Highboy, though I have others that I tool around with for fun, too.
Winston is just a little cuddle cutie,,
Recent purchases ? I think I mentioned this before but I purchase on a whim Covergirls new Clean and Fresh talc free powder foundation and I really love it .
I also tan quite easily and in the Summer and always seem to struggle with foundations that work for me. and I have an allergy to talc.
This one in Medium works quite well.
Weekend plans ? Outdoor cooking and a hike along a shady creek ..
Creative outlet? Art .. and Photography ..Just finished a portrait and ready to start a new one .

WEEKEND PLANS: Tomorrow we might go to an air and car museum fundraiser in Hood River. Sunday, our sons’ friend is visiting and we always do a pizza night when he visits.
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE OUTLET?: Makeup and fashion, coloring, arts/crafts, decorating, and writing. I used to knit and crochet a lot, and I need to start doing those again. I just haven’t been able to concentrate the last couple years.
New/Rediscovered…my Temptalia palettes are the last buy for a while. I need to use up what I own I think, lol.
Weekend Plans….after 16 months I finally get to see my mom. She’s in a nursing home with end stage dementia and my state locked down tight and the nursing homes can finally have visitors. The only blessing is she’s unaware.
Outlet….quilting. I made my first quilt when I was 10….I’m 56 now. My mom taught my Girl Scout troop to quilt among many other things. I still have the quilt too.
Happy weekend everyone.
Oh, I am so glad you will get to see your mom, Shari!!
That’s wonderful you can see your mom again!
Oh my – that is difficult, I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with that, but hopefully you’ll be able to spend the time with her more that you desire to. I am in Michigan, and we’ve had a similar experience with an aunt.
How wonderful that you’re able to pick quilting back up again, however. My mother (and also her now deceased mother) also quilts and that was a topic of discussion for us over the fourth (and how time consuming and tedious of a task it is). We’ve turned old family quilts into heirlooms dating back to the early 1900s (those ones are in frames though and not used for practical purposes).
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: My best friend’s birthday is coming up, and so I got her the ABH Norvina palette, the original one. I’ve actually wanted to get her that palette for a few years now, but she’s always turned it down because it was too pricey a gift. But now that I have my Sephora employee discount, hopefully she’ll be a little more comfortable accepting it. And if not, I did include a gift receipt. For myself, I’m finally trying the NARS Orgasm blush, as well the Fenty Cream Blush in “Strawberry Drip”, two items that have long been on my wishlist
Weekend plans: Nothing fun. I’m attending my great uncle’s funeral tomorrow, and I work on Sunday
What is your creative outlet?: Other than makeup, making YouTube videos and writing. Also some very simple bullet-journaling to improve my skills with visual art
I’m sorry for your loss. Also, it sounds like you’re a good friend to gift such a nice palette. Hopefully your friend accepts – sometimes the simple act of giving the gift (and not the price), and seeing the joy in the other person from receiving the gift is the actual present. I know I sometimes receive more joy from actually giving someone a present they really love (and often times can’t afford), than the recipient dies from actually getting the gift (even if they absolutely love it).
Ahhh he is so cute!!!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Gosh. It’s been a fun week in terms of makeup! My Glam Shop package FINALLY arrived, another Shiny by SD package came with more of the Dynasty shadows and my JD Glow shadows from their recent sale are supposed to arrive today!
Weekend plans: Watching the final soccer games for Eurocup and Copa America with my family and eating tons of snacks!
What is your creative outlet?: Makeup, nail stamping, reading and writing poetry!
Recent purchases: Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom lipstick in Radiant; Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in Enchanting Kiss and Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial (courtesy of a generous discount on Cult Beauty.)
Weekend Plans: Dropping off clothing and household donations, replenishing vegetables at a local farmers market, weeding the front lawn, and continued organization of the remaining bits and pieces in one room that was a catchall for things when we moved into our house.
Creative outlet: Listening to music, watching natural makeup application, understanding colour schemes in my makeup collection or in the design of a landscape or garden is about the extent of my creativity.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Yesterday my mom had her phone replaced at the Apple Store at a local outdoor mall. While she was waiting, I went to the Sephora there and bought the Too Faced Diamond Fire Diamond Light highlighter and a backup Marc Jacobs Enamored Not Sorry gloss-one of the only 2 shades my store had left.
Today I’ve ordered Too Faced Fancy Pink and Canary Diamond Light highlighters and Sephora #Lipstories Leo and Libra lipsticks from Sephora and a bunch of backup Enamored glosses-Rebel Rebel, Allow Me, Hey You!, Sugar High, and Love Drunk-and a Je T’aime Le Marc lipsticks from the MJB site, since their continued existence is still so up in the air.
Sephora estimates an arrival date of Thursday and MJB will send another email when they ship my order.
Weekend plans: Worked all day Friday, went to the grocery store and to the outdoor mall yesterday, relaxing at home today.
What is your creative outlet?: Besides makeup, I customize dolls and post photos of them to Instagram, and I also write fanfiction.
