He’s as curious as a cat! I love it!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Nothing on either front. I haven’t done a full face of makeup since last Friday when I had to go to the food store.
Weekend Plans: Picking up my beloved Scunci’s ashes today and a quick dip into Fry’s supermarket for a few little feel good items. Zoom meeting tomorrow morning. My home doesn’t feel like home anymore without my Scunci. The other kitty is constantly screaming and looking for him at night. My nerves are a mess, and so is my sleep. I now have some serious dark circles and bags under my eyes that weren’t there a week ago.
Favorite sweet treat: See’s Candy! Like a 1 lb. box of chocolates. Caramels, truffles and crunchy ones.
If not that, then I savor a nice sized slice of legit New York cheesecake, either cherry or chocolate mousse types. I cannot recall the last time I had either one.
My condolences for Scunci. Sounds like he was well-loved.
Purchase/Rediscoveries: I bought the Dior Black Night palette from the Bay’s President’s sale (10% discount) and it arrived this week, my Sephora sale order also came in – Dior Capture Totale moisturizer and YSL Libre perfume/mini lipstick set. No rediscoveries.
Weekend Plans: Usual errands and groceries, I usually put up the holiday wreath and outdoor arrangement around the US Thanksgiving. Will check around to see what this year’s are like.
Favourite Sweet Treat: Anything chocolate. Or lemon dessert.
Very sorry about Scunci. He had the best, most loving kitty mum ever.
KJH, I loved him so, so very much. Just got his ashes home. Had to go it all alone. Can’t stop this ugly crying.
I am so sorry about Scunci. My Fuzzy, a Maine Coon and Marley a Coon mix are, too.
Aren’t they just the most special, intelligent, almost human of cats, Jeannine? Their love is so deep and real!
I love my Maine Coon Gracie. This is our second Maine Coon. Our first, Cali lived to be 23 years old. They both have distinct personalities and are highly intelligent. I would recommend the breed to anyone wanting a cat.
I agree, ShariP. I definitely want another one once I recover somewhat. He was the best cat I ever had. Very intelligent and dog-like in loyalty.
I am late replying, I had Rottweiler’s before these perfect cats. They are very loving and the best. I am very happy to have rescued them. Fuzzy had me at purr.
My grandparents love See’s Candy! Each year I go visit them in Europe I make them selection boxes I spend too much time curating to surprise me. I’m still debating if to send some presents via mail, but I’m iffy with sending food internationally.
Did you get a ceramic paw print with the ashes? We got that package for our beloved cat Blaow who died a year ago of cancer. That’s so sad about your grieving cat, I’m sure she’s missing him a lot too. I pray you get caught up on your rest.
Yes, Denise, they did do two paw prints, plus one of his bent up tail tip. Seeing these makes me feel that huge floofy spiraled tail in my hand.
Nancy, how horrible this week has been for you and your other kitty must be so lonely. My twin sister, who lost her cat Katie several years ago, sends you her love and sympathy. She knows what you are going through and how difficult this time will be for you.
Take care.
Thank you and your twin sister so much. This week, this month has been very rocky and painful. I’m just trying to take everything day by day as they come.
I’m sorry about Scunci. I hope you’re able to get a good night’s rest soon, and, once you’re up to it, treat yourself to one of those desserts you’re fond of.
Thank you, Sarah. I really do hope that my sleep goes back to normal ASAP. The insomnia and early waking are driving me insane. As is my surviving kitty’s caterwauling even though she’s spayed. I am losing my mind around here!
I’m so sorry to hear about Scunci! I know he was well loved by you.
Celesta, he was truly and deeply loved and cherished. I miss him so much that there are no words to fully describe it.
Nancy, I am so sorry to hear that Scunci passed away. What a heartbreaking time it has been. Hoping Scunci and Pookie have reunited. Keeping you close in thought.
Thanks so much, Tracey. Those two, I’m telling you. They both made such deep inroads within my heart that I honestly feel broken inside.
Recent Purchases: Just some Christmas gifts!
Rediscoveries: Charlotte Tilbury Cheek-to-Chic Blush in Ecstasy. It’s just the perfect warm pink blush and seems to go with every single look I do. It’s beautiful.
Weekend plans: It’s been a really long, stressful week and my family could use some cheer. So, we’re going to put up our Christmas tree and watch Christmas movies.
What’s your favorite sweet treat?: Ice Cream. Always.
Yes, it is stressful working from home with a family in tow – especially a three year old. I hope you get to see your family for Thanksgiving this year.
Your little boy will love the Christmas tree, but will probably think that Christmas is tomorrow….
I love a good icecream too – but in coffee flavours, honeycomb and a rich chocolate. Sara Lee makes the best chocolate ice cream ever.
Best boy! Where does he place the traffic cones? Was very pleased to find a replacement for the Sephora mascara fan on Beautylish. The fold up metal thing seems like a potential torture device. Also replaced a FAB product that is d/c’d and unavailable at brand, S, or U on Skinstore (plus sale…) People should check that site for things they cannot find. Plans: just to get through today with snafus everywhere. I used to have a great vocabulary, and now all I say is WTF? Treat: anything from desserts to ice cream to cereal….as long as it has peanut butter and chocolate.
Love Mellon and his adventures! Please share your thoughts on the Huda foundation stick Christine! I have been so curious!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I am going through my stash to prep for next years Project Pan…So far I have decided to pan 1 palette and then continue rotating 5 shadows from other palettes (as I did this year).
I ordered Thanksgiving Dinner from a local restaurant (first time in my life!) to support local businesses; feels very strange not to cook turkey dinner.
Weekend plans: Putter at home. We had in tended to make a regular monthly Costco Run, but lockdowns are back in our state and everyone started power-buying bread, milk, toilet paper etc. So we are going to stay home and make our grocery run after Thanksgiving 😏
What’s your favorite sweet treat?: Gluten-free cookies
Find of the week: Locally roasted coffee subscriptions
https://bluesail.coffee/collections/whole-bean-coffee-non-subscription?page=1
I have to do some grocery shopping tomorrow and I hope the lines aren’t long and the shelves empty… 😅 I just need regular stuff, hope people just raided the Thanksgiving items.
Good luck!$
Wow on the coffee, though another round of LEs and sellouts? Yikes.
I know! I keep reminding myself 2020 isn’t over….😳
Good luck on your Project Pan! So funny with everyone panic buying toilet paper again. Some people probably stocked up on enough to last a year the last time.
Thank you! I believe the world might have enough TP to last through the apocalypse 😜
I have never been more happy for having a toilet paper subscription box, until the pandemic come. 😅 I choose whogivesacrap to be more sustainable and eco-friendly, but it March it ended up a bum savior.
Also using Who Gives A Crap and renewed my subscription early. Their tissues are fine too but I was not happy with the paper towels.
Lol! I need to check them out. I am on my last roll but my corner shop didn’t have any 😂
In my area, just outside of Los Angeles, most stores have been limiting purchases of toilet paper & paper towels pretty much the entire time, so I think we’ll be okay… Just in case, I just picked up a 12-pack today, LOL!
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new this week beauty wise.
Weekend plans: Just the usual, nothing special. I’ll keep probably myself engaged with some long hikes, even if the weather is chilly. I’m still postponing my car service, maybe I’ll find a spot next week. Maybe push myself to find interesting ideas for the incoming long weekend, even if I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving.
What’s your favorite sweet treat?: I don’t have a big sweet tooth, I’m more into savory treats (especially when cheese is involved). For me a bowl full of berries or cantaloupe, along with Greek yogurt and a splash of vanilla is the ultimate treat. Especially if the fruit and yogurt spent some time in the freezer.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No makeup. I ordered two bottles of Kate Somerville KX Active Concentrates Omegas + Ceramides Barrier Defense Serum, which I fear is about to be discontinued.
Weekend plans: A Zoom party on Sunday to celebrate a friend’s retirement and the usual chores.
What’s your favorite sweet treat?: The current favorite would be ice cream in some variation of salted caramel. I love sweets in all forms except licorice and things with jelly-like texture, and while I adore cookies, I don’t like chocolate chip cookies much.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Rediscovery – using the Pat McGrath La Vie en Rose palette colors as eyeliners, using an eyebrow brush. I also recently bought a box set of the Ursula Le Guin Hainish cycle from a local bookstore. Sounded like cozy reading for winter 🙂
Weekend plans: Work, but hope to also finish an online seminar on drawing anatomy. I also desperately need to set time aside to stretch and exercise, as I’ve been particularly scrunched up in front of a computer lately.
What’s your favorite sweet treat?: fresh strawberry pie! Since my birthday is in the summer, I used to have it instead of a birthday cake every year (which is traditional where I live).
Thank you for the reminder to stretch and exercise…….I agree I need to do the same!! 😊
Haul: I have to replace the PMGL lipstick I bought during the Sephora sale as it arrived with the bullet broken off. I imagine there is a way to repair it but for the money, I don’t want to have to do that. It might have been due to the cold temperatures here? It sat on my porch for a couple of hours before I got the notice it had been delivered. Anyway, I love the packaging with the rhinestone encrusted lips. I got the shade Elson, which I had been wanting for awhile and just hadn’t gotten around to ordering it. Maybe it wasn’t meant to be, LOL. Anyway, I haven’t purchased anything new this week.
Weekend plans: More of the same. I am going to Kalispell to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter, although it has been a difficult decision. I feel like Eeyore and there is a rain cloud hanging over my head. Yesterday, my daughter’s “boss”, an orthodontist, tested positive for COVID. He hadn’t been feeling well but of course, continued to come to work so he could expose the whole office. He got a rapid test since he is a Doctor, even if “just” an orthodontist. He had his results two hours later, meanwhile, we can’t get a test. So, the office manager has been off because her son was exposed so she has been isolating. They are keeping the office open. My daughter called the COVID number for Montana to question them and they said she didn’t need to quarantine and as long as they follow the guidelines, they shouldn’t be in any danger. So, what to do about Thanksgiving? I have decided to take the chance and go up. We bought a pre-cooked dinner so that we didn’t need to do major grocery shopping and I will pick it up on my way. Anyway, I think we will just try and stay 6 feet apart and pray.
Favorite sweet: It is hard to nail it down. Since I have developed diabetes, nothing sounds good except carbs. So, any carb food is a treat for me. In particular I love the Sees dark chocolate marzipan. I also have a to-die-for recipe for pralines and make them every year at Christmas time. I love anything lemon and the list goes on, LOL!
Sounds pretty awful for your daughter Deborah and the authorities should close the office. My goodness, if it were here in Victoria, you would have the Hazard team at the place pretty darn quick.
I hope that your daughter is OK and if you take precautions it should be OK for Thanksgiving.
Mellan’s just doing his due diligence 🙂
Purchases: Had to kill 15 mins at the drugstore yesterday waiting for the pharmacists to get back from their lunch break, so I bought some Essie nail polish in “Peppermint Condition.”
Weekend plans: Tomorrow I have an online dance class and I’m performing in an online show (pre-recorded, but I’ll join the live debut to hang out with everyone). A friend of mine will come over to drop off my half of the bottle of green chartreuse we decided to split (we both like making cocktails and both have wanted to try recipes using chartreuse, but neither of us could justify the cost of a bottle). At some point I have to head out and pick up a cider tasting kit. Oh, and tonight I am taking an embroidery workshop that I signed up for at the last minute. Online, of course.
My favorite sweet treat: I can’t narrow it down to just one! I love desserts, especially anything with chocolate. I love a good creme brulee or panna cotta, a delicious cake, cookies, brownies, good ice cream, a high-quality chocolate bar, truffles, etc etc etc. Above all I love to try something new that sounds delicious.
Enjoy your online embroidery class AJ – it sounds like a perfect winter hobby to have.
I forgot to add to my sweet treats creme brulee – I am pretty fond of those as well.
Thank you Genevieve! Embroidery is a very cozy hobby to enjoy on the couch with a blanket in my lap, the dog next to me, and a hot drink at hand.
The workshop was fun and I am making good progress on my sampler. I learned several new-to-me stitches!
Recent Purchase: Melt X Beetlejuice PR Box; it was a bit pricey, but I felt I could justify the cost since I’m not interested in any other Holiday offerings…
Plans: HOPEFULLY cleaning & decluttering my bedroom & closet… I’ve indulged in quite a few new outfits, so I HAVE to get rid of some things…
Sweet Treat: Chocolate. Anything chocolate, except if it’s been contaminated with coconut…
Dear Mellon – always on the lookout for something new or a treat to find!
Recent Purchases: I finally received my ND Glam palette and Naked 3 and I love, love and love both of them!
Rediscoveries: Dior’s Bonne Etoile this week.
Weekend Plans: It was my birthday yesterday (in Aus. time) and today in US time. So I received my makeup goodies above, plus a bottle of Lancome’s Tresor and a CD of Agnes Obel (a Canadian artist) from my youngest son and his family.
I went out to lunch with a group of friends I use to work with, which was lovely getting back into contact again after our long lockdown.
For dinner – the family came over and I decided it would be easier with the baby, to have a birthday celebration at home. We got some lovely Indian and Sri Lankan takeaway from a newish local restaurant (supporting the local community) and cakes to celebrate. The meal was deliciious, Olivia and Lachlan enjoyed it all and baby was mesmerised by the birthday cake.
Saturday – cleaning up, lots of laundry and food shopping.
Sunday – probably some Christmas shopping too.
I am catching up with my twin sister on Tuesday.
Favourite sweet treat: I am a big Tiramisu fan as well, but my absolute fav sweet treat is cheesecake!
Happy Birthday 🍾🎂 Beautiful Genevieve !
Wishing you a magical year!
Thank you Mary – it has to be a better one than this year! Surrounded by my gorgeous grandchildren, I feel so blessed.
Happy Birthday!
Thank you Kimberly and I hope you are treavelling well.
Happy Birthday Genevieve. It sounds like you had a wonderful day, and I’m glad you were able to celebrate with loved ones, especially after that lockdown.
It was an eleven week lockdown that seemed to go on forever. But at least our covid numbers are still down to zero – which is fabulous news.
The birthday celebrations with my family worked out so well and it was a lovely day.
Happy birthday, Genevieve!! Fabulous that your eyeshadow palettes arrived, too!
Thank you Tracey – I find I have to ‘nominate’ my makeup wishes to my family otherwise they would have no idea and I could end up with anything! I was so looking forward to trying them out too.
Happy belated birthday Genevieve! So glad you got to spend it with family. The takeaway sounds delicious, too 🙂
Thank you AJ – it’s a fabulous restaurant that has opened up in our little village shopping strip. It has the best dishes from Sri Lanka, India and Vietnam. Really authentic flavours and the rice dishes are varied and yummy too.
Good boy ..Mellon checking out all the interesting smells on the Traffic cones 😻New discoveries ..? Tom Ford Lost Cherry lipstick .. and Charlotte Tilbury
“Magic Vanish” color corrector .
Rediscoveries? From my stash…Marc Jacobs Eye Conic “Scandalust “ eyeshadow palette.
and Hourglass “Incandescent Electra.”….. Blush..
Weekend plans ? Starting a portrait from a Zoom workshop ….. and watching “The Queens Gambit “
Favorite sweet? Anything dark Chocolate…
You must be quite a talented artist to do a portrait from a Zoom workshop Mary!
Purchases: Charlotte Tilbury Fire Rose Quad (wearing it today, just as beautiful as I hoped!) and the new Lunar Beauty Eternal Eclipse palette
Weekend Plans: Prepare for my daughter’s third birthday! It’s on Monday, but we’re having a small celebration with cake on Sunday.
Favorite Sweet Treat: Tiramisu or Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie! Though, really, anything with chocolate in it (deep and dark chocolate) is for me.
Happy Birthday to your daughter Larissa – three is such a gorgeous age. You can never be lonely with a three year old around you, they talk nonstop. Will any of your family be able to attend the celebration?
Purchases/Rediscoveries: I bought a Lancome mascara, lash primer, and remover for my sister-in-law as a thank you for taking care of me after a procedure.
Weekend/plans: Rest and recover. Was readmitted to the hospital on Sunday and got out yesterday. Severe colonic infection. I have never been so sick. They were trying to release as many of us as they could as the Covid cases were arriving. My Covid test was negative, thank God.
Favorite sweet treat: Homemade old fashioned peanut butter fudge or lemon bars.
Oh Shari – that sounds absolutely painful and horrible! As my twin sister will attest, there is nothing more humiliating and gut wrenching than something wrong with your tummy area. I hope they didn’t push you out of hospital too soon (although with covid cases coming in, you are better off at home). You would have been on an antibiotic drip and painkillers, I guess. Thank goodness you are covid negative – that would have been the last straw.
Best wishes for your recovery and it’s a lovely gift you have got your sister in law too.
My son and DIL got me a big bunch of flowers for cleaning their house last weekend, and that was lovely too.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I replaced a L’Oreal True Match Spiced Plum blush that broke beyond my ability to press it back down. My Sephora (Marc Jacobs Cherrific and Pat McGrath Celestial Divinity palettes, travel-size YSL Black Opium Neon cologne, Charlotte Tilbury moisturizer/lip gloss VIB/Rouge birthday gift) and Ulta (UD Stoned Vibes palette/Power High gloss/Raw Energy and Tiger’s Eye liners) packages arrived. My SV palette had an issue, though-5 of the 8 marbleized shimmers were broken when I opened it. I pressed the shadows down into the pans-they still look broken and messy, but they should be usable.
Weekend plans: Did some laundry tonight, work all day tomorrow, maybe some errands Sunday.
What’s your favorite sweet treat?: Tiramisu, brownies, or chocolate chip cookies.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: No purchases, but I did rediscover my Colourpop All I See is Magic palette. I find it’s a great palette for my current goal of perfecting my neutral glam makeup
Weekend plans: I got my eye exam today and then my sister and I picked up takeout from the Cheesecake Factory. I basically skipped dinner because of how heavy that meal was. Other than that nothing
What’s your favorite sweet treat?: Pie! The holidays are usually a great time for me because this is the only time of year I get to eat pie
Recent purchases:
– Charlotte Tilbury: Fire Rose luxury palette and Eyes to Mesmerise in Sunset Rose; free Collagen Lip Bath in Peachy Plump;
– Bobbi Brown (20% off): Vitamin Enriched Eye Base;
– Sephora (20% off): Drunk Elephant B-Hydra and A-Passioni Retinol Cream, Farmacy See It All Eye Cream, and Tweezerman Brow Shaping Scissors and Brush Kit.
Weekend Plans: Finish filing project, declutter and organize makeup and clothing stashed in one of the bedrooms, and make decisions about items that are unpacked but still lingering around the house. Unpack winter clothing.
Favourite Sweet Treat: Carrot cake, and anything chocolatey.
