Free for Haul Friday, Volume #275

Welcome to Free For Haul Friday!

  • Haul: Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipsticks
  • Weekend plans: I think we’re going to try to get our grocery shopping for the week done today to avoid the madness of last-minute Valentine’s Day shopping on Saturday. We always celebrate Valentine’s Day the week before, so we’ll have a regular evening at home instead for tomorrow.
  • Flowers or candy?: Flowers!

Haul: Tarte Today’s Special Value, NARS dual intensity eye shadow palette, Pixi Palette 2nd edition & brow palette
Weekend plans: Nothing at the moment. Maybe brunch at Cheesecake Factory
Flowers or candy?: Neither. I’d rather get something useful as a gift.

I ordered the Estee lauder double wear light on neiman Marcus wensday and i will receive it today and i will also recibe my chikuhodo z8 brush that i ordered on jan. 28th and im soo exited i cant wait!!!

Cleaning, watch some movies, play with my kids

Haul: Clinique SuperDefense SPF 25 in the dry skin formula, two wonderful items from Quo (Shoppers Drug Mart’s “house brand”) – a konjac sponge that’s every bit as good as the ones I have from Boscia but at 1/4 the price and a beautyblender knockoff – ditto on price and quality! My haul from last week never got added so I’ll tack on what I got then – a mini MAC Cleansing Oil (for travel) and a Sephora TSA approve makeup bag (the small, clear one for my carry on), AG BB cream for hair and – the high point – the Nars Dual Intensity eyeshadow palette.

Weekend plans: it is so incredibly freezing here that I don’t even want to leave the house and the forecast doesn’t offer anything encouraging! But my former neighbour has come back home for the better part of 2 weeks so I do want to get out this weekend and go to lunch or dinner with her. And I want to shove myself out the door to the gym too, but that might be a losing battle given the temps and also the fact that I’m fighting off a cold (sure hoping I win!)

Flowers or candy: – flower for sure and not just for Valentine’s Day! I usually treat myself (and my family, really) to a bunch of tulips or other pretty spring flowers during the winter. Winters are so hard here that some tulips in vases around the house really bring a cheery note.

Haul: (from the last few weeks)
Tom Ford: Spring 2015 cream shadow, Luciano lipstick.
Wayne Goss: the holiday brush (black)
Burberry: Earthy Blush & Antique Gold polish (I was the lucky winner of a giveaway)
Dior: Cherie rouge Dior; Dior Kiss addict; Star concealer; Petit Bonheur, Spring (a gift), Lady and Glory nail polishes; rouge baume Lys Rouge & Cotillon.
NARS: Narsissist dual intensity palette (LOVE!) & audacious lipstick Kelly
Chanel: Camelia Rose & Angelique blushes; Tutti Frutti (a gift) & Vamp polishes; Extreme shine top coat; Insaisissable rouge allure; La romanesque rouge velvet; Loose powder (translucent 1).
Guerlain: Meteorites compact (Light); Meteorites blush.
Revlon: Fire & Ice lipstick
MAC: Viva Glam Miley
First Aid Beauty: radiance pads, face cleanser (I stocked up on two of each, they had a good sale recently).
Anastasia: brow wiz Ebony (my third one, I love this stuff)
Deborah Lippmann: The Stripper polish remover, Bitches Brew polish.
Nails Inc: Kensington caviar & Nailkale superfood base coats; Nailkale Victoria.
Rescue Beauty Lounge: Cerise Noir
A-England: Tristam polish
Formula X: nail hydrator
OPI: Romantically Involved, Embrace the Gray, Cement the Deal.
Ciate: ice cream gift set (a gift for a friend).

Weekend plans: we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day, so we’ll just do whatever it is we do on weekends, go for a hike, or go to the movies, but I do plan to cook Andrew’s favorite lasagna :).

Flowers or candy?: Flowers

I’m thrilled with the Nars palette and I’ve been using the Guerlain meteorites compact every time I put makeup on. The Tom Ford eyeshadow is fantastic, and so is the new Viva Glam, a perfect hot pink.

Mac Bellgreens eye shadow, UD sheer lipstick in Liar.
Sat relax at home with a movie some champagne and Sunday date night out for Valentine’s day.

A big hug for the handsome Mellan from me and the boys. Have a great weekend Christine and Happy Valentine’s day!

Is that Mellan’s regular leash? I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before!

Haul: Nothing! I’ve been way too busy all week, but I can’t promise anything for the weekend.

Weekend plans: Kicking back and hopefully work on the blog! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks for me, so dolling up for Valentine’s Day is about at the bottom of my priority list.

Flowers or candy?: Oh you can’t make me choose! OK fine maybe flowers, because I swallow candy way too fast.

Does Mellan like his gentle leader? Our lab hates putting it on, but he does settle quickly once it’s in place. He’s just so fast and strong without it!

He doesn’t like it if he just sits around with it! Then he tries to paw it off his face, but he’s usually quite excited when it comes out, since it means, “WE ARE LEAVING AND GOING SOMEWHERE THAT MAY HAVE PEOPLE/FOOD/POOL.”

Oh, no! Does he bite?
***MAC Toledo Lip Glass in Opera (love! And my first MAC Lip Glass ever, can you believe it??), redeemed 100 Sephora pts for sample of Marc Jacobs Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Lipstick (love! And also my first lippie from them)
***Relax, Valentine day with hubby & baby, dinner get-together with family, and some work
***No flowers or candy, only want Sephora Gift Cards πŸ™‚

He doesn’t! It’s not a muzzle. It’s a gentle leader, which makes it easier when we go on walks and he gets distracted. He’s pretty good, but you never know if another, more aggressive dog will start lunging and barking at your dog, so being able to easily catch Mellan’s attention makes it safer for everyone involved (the gentle leader is very gentle on him, too – no pulling at a collar and choking).

We used a head collar/gentle leader for our last boxer, who liked to drag me on our walks despite all our efforts to train him otherwise (“honey, it’s not a race, the park will still be there whenever we get there”)…there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the question, but if I had a dime for each time I explained that it wasn’t a muzzle to a slightly alarmed-looking person, I’d have enough money to justify purchasing the Tom Ford shadow duo. ;]

Haha! This is very true. It’s SO much easier than anything else we’ve tried, and Mellan’s not even a puller, but if another dog comes up to him, it’s so much easier to get his attention this way.

I’m intrigued by all the folks who’ve gotten the KKBB sample lippie at Sephora! It’s not on their site and I didn’t see it at their counter when I went this week — have I missed out completely??

They only had it for a short time (maybe a few days) before the word got out, and then they ran out. Sorry you missed it, but there’s always a next time

Different stores also get things at different times! If you have a few stores within a practical distance, it may be worth calling around! Sephora/JCPenney is also an option. HTH

Haul: Nada for week six. Though I am lemming one of those new lip cremes from Marc Jacobs Beauty — I tried one this week and they really do wear like iron! Luckily they’re permanent so they’ll still be available when I’m able to shop again.
Weekend plans: Getting ready for the next snowstorm! Supposed to be blizzard conditions Sunday, so I think a lot of reading and beauty blogs are in my immediate future. May try to grab a lunch out before the snow starts tomorrow…
Flowers or candy?: Flowers — I’ll buy my own candy! πŸ™‚

Haul: Nars Narsissist Dual Intensity palette,UD Moondust eyeshadow in Zodiac,Ren Invisible Pores detox mask,Bobbi Brown Monday to Sunday matte lip in Valencia Orange
Weekend plan?: hang out with my friends
flowers or candy?: flower!

Mellan looks very introspective here. “What is the meaning of life? Who am I? What is…SQUIRREL!”

Haul: Marc Jacobs Contour Powder Duo
BareMinerals Tinted Gel Cream
NYX HD Foundation
NYX HD blush in Nude
Estee Lauder Baked Eyeshadow (from Marshall’s)

Weekend plans: Haircut. I’m kind of meh about Valentine’s Day, so I don’t know if we’ll do much. I like the idea of celebrating it a week early – avoid all the V-Day craziness.

Flowers or candy?: I like flowers, but my cat eats all plants. I like chocolates, but I prefer baked goods. Just take me out to dinner and then buy me a cupcake – I’ll be happy!

Which contouring duo did you get?

Funny enough, Mellan doesn’t seem to understand anything about cats/squirrels. He doesn’t really react to them, lol!

The lightest one – Dream Filter 20 – soft pink/ medium bronze. The highlighting powder is really nice – all soft and blendable and really pretty and brightening. I wasn’t as keen on the contour, so I guess I paid $50 for a highlighter! But man!

Haul: Just some clothing! Picked up some more shirts from Everlane.

Weekend plans: Reading, writing and a little Valentine’s at home. We’re also planning on shopping tonight to skip any frenzy. I predict my kids trying to stockpile heart-shaped candy.

Flowers or candy?: Flowers! I always love having fresh flowers around the house. To be fair, I’ve never had a strong sweet tooth.

Very nice basics! I love the Women’s shirt, the Ryan tank and I own a Silk Round Collar that sold me quickly on buying more silk button downs from them. They’ve become my go-to for basic tees/tanks but I’m still trying out the rest they have to offer. I hope you enjoy the brand if you decide to purchase anything!

Haul: MAC eyeshadow in “Mystery” (for contouring!), MAC lipstick in Fast Play and lip liner in Half Red. Gorgeous!
Weekend plans: Spending time with family!
Flowers or candy?: Candy, all the way! I love food.

Such gorgeous scenery with a sweetie dog!
Haul: I ordered the Tom Ford spring cream shadow and pre-ordered the Raw Jade and Ripe Plum duos, Cle de Peau luminizer(14) delicate pink ( I didn’t get the fancy compact though-so now I REALLY need to get those Z-palettes I keep putting off!), & Nars Anita!
Weekend plans: Nothing too special as of now; basic errands and cleaning. hopefully some relaxing too.
Flowers or candy? Flowers!

Anita is quickly becoming one of my faves as well! I got it with my Bday gift $. I went looking for “Barbara” which Sephora did not have in. The SA suggested Anita and I quickly checked the ratings and saw it was good to go! It is my best MLBB shade so far for sure! And not drying and wears well without a liner…yes please!

HAUL: Lorac Unzipped Cheek and Lip Set, Real Techniques Bold Metals Arched Powder and Flat Contour brushes, and Dr. Bronner’s lavender soap!
WEEKEND PLANS: I have a dinner date with my best friend tonight and tomorrow hopefully enjoy an all you can eat sushi meal with my boyfriend lol Nothing too fancy for us, we’re a really laid back couple.
FLOWERS OR CANDY: Flowers! I love how gorgeous they look on my vanity!
Happy Valentine’s Day! β™₯

Haul: nothing! I’m trying out a no-buy this week, but next I might not make it! Colourpop released blushes that I REALLY want to buy lol

Weekend plans: Dinner with some friends tomorrow. A 10k and brunch on Sunday

Flowers or candy: flowers all the way!

Haul: Sephora Perfume Sampler, Fresh Rose Face Mask which was a gift
Weekend plans: Homework, Doctors Appt. for a checkup
Flowers or candy?: Candy

Gentle is a great concept. Less pressure on the neck or back/pits. Does it work well?
haul: nada. when you can’t get to work, either day or night job, you have a no-buy by default. They haven’t been able to deliver my Paula’s order. I’m terrified big S will run out of NARS DI palette before i dare pull the plug.
Plans: same as the past 3 weeks. By Monday, I will have missed 4 weeks in a row of Mon night job. Got the car out the first time on Fri AM since last Sat night + with the hill, IDK if i can even get home. This has been brutal. I’m dreaming of esquimos teaching me 50 of their 200+ words for snow, bec. WE GOT ‘EM! Plans are shovel, snug w/ Jussi (dachshund,) shovel, chop ice, shovel, scrape car, swear, shovel, strand in the street + yell that i am 66 years old + ought not have to shovel the &^&^ing street! Then shovel. There is literally no place to put the snow, so i have to walk > 20′ before i can even get the snow off the shovel. It has to go in the backyard. MY BFFs’ mother died + it does not look as if i can get to the funeral. I’ve known this woman for 59 years. “Exigent circumstances,” my patootie. And everyone in this general area has a similar story. It’s horrible, not to mention treacherous. BTW, another foot is expected south of boston. my road is only 1 1/2 lanes on a good day, with cars parked onstreet on the uphill side. and the bookends for that short road are a 45 degree hill. i get runnuing amok now. they call this the beach….i think the beee…ach sums it up. I am window shopping the regular sites a fair amount, bec. the elec + cable are holding up. Got >50 # of dog food + lots of human food as well. It could be worse. Not sure how, but no one is in a shelter + i think there have been no fatalities/collapses due to the snow. Maybe we’re holding up rather well.
When I make up the day job hours, THEN i can haul a bit. Meantime, you can’t hold a brush, when there’s a shovel frozen to your hand.

Oh, yes! It works really well for us. I feel like I can redirect and get his attention with little effort, which works well for me, given that he’s all muscle, and is better for him, since there’s no pulling at his neck, no choking or hacking or wheezing because they keep pulling.

Hope that snow goes away soon… or at least becomes more manageable. Stay safe!!

HAUL: Nothing

Weekend Plans: V-day date tonight, Saturday is appliance and shoe shopping ( Our dryer melted quite literally and my husband has to get new shoes for work as his were issued a verbal warning for not being business enough), and Sunday is with friends at home.

Haul, so small it can hardly be called a haul, but as I am on a low-no buy, it counts, I think. I had to buy more nailpolish remover and happened to find the Dior Couter where I fell for, and bought a Doirshow Mono eyeshadow in 045 Fairy Grey. It’s a sheer shimmery grey, quite pretty. I also got backups for MAC Viva Glam Rihanna 1, but lipstick and gloss
No weekendplans, except for a bit of dog grooming and WoW playing.

Haul: 2 mini perfumes from Bath Sabbath, Soap Box and 4 bath bombs from Fortune Cookie Soap.

Weekend Plans: hockey (playing, I’m a goalie and husband is a defenseman in a coed outdoor league). Going out to dinner and to see Jupiter Ascending with some friends.

Flowers or Candy: CANDY. I’m eating Haribo fizzy cola gummies right now πŸ™‚

Haul: OPI Hawaii mini set and NYX Be Gone makeup remover wipes
Weekend Plans: hanging out with friends and relaxing πŸ™‚
Flowers or candy? definitely flowers!

Haul: The predictable Sephora haul, NARS Narsissist Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette, Becca Mineral Blush in Wild Honey, Givenchy Le Prisme Blush in Vogue Orange, and The Bite Beauty Lip Lab Limited Release Crème Deluxe Lipstick in shade 002.
Weekend plans: Relax all weekend! It’s been a busy week so I’d like to catch up on sleep. My boyfriend and I will have a nice dinner at home tomorrow. Maybe I’ll go for a run with my brother too!
Flowers or candy?: Flowers!

Also thanks for retweeting my tweet yesterday about using the Bite Beauty packaging sticker to distinguish between Limited Release lipsticks! Too bad I didn’t think about it last month πŸ˜€

Wild Honey is a warm, orange-y mid-tone nude with a satin finish (a bit of a sheen even?… Not quite shimmery though). I’m obsessed with any orange or peachy blushes! πŸ™‚

Haul: Floss Gloss nail polish!
Weekend plans: Essay writing… Disneyland was in the cards but I doubt that’s happening.
Flowers or Candy: Flowers! But the potted kind. I hate watching bouquets die. If someone got me a succulent plant for Valentine’s Day I’d probably love them forever.

Haul: A sale kit from Bare Minerals. It has a lipstick, lip liner, eyeliner, brush, illuminating finishing powder & more … just under $30 with shipping!

Plans: Yet another blizzard on the way and I have relatives who are moving to London next week staying with us! Fun πŸ™‚

Haul last couple of weeks: Guerlain Meteorites pressed (light), Wayne Goss holiday brush and brush no 2, Sephora Flirting Game & Starry Sky eyeliners, Jack Black lip balms, BB Agave lip mask (original & Smashed), mini MJ Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (gift), Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Etourdie (LE) and Dior Addict gloss Mylord (LE).
Weekend plans: nothing much, just relaxing, catching up on multiple episodes of TV series, reading, some cooking:)
We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day, but if I had to choose definitely candy! I prefer scent or makeup though;)
Mellan is such a beautiful dog Christine! Have a nice weekend!

I love the Meteorites, so subtle but beautiful! These were my first Sephora eyeliners, and I’m particularly loving Flirting Game! Thanks for all your reviews Christine, these days I rarely buy anything you haven’t recommended, lol! LOVE your blog!

Had a few things arrive this week! ColourPop eyeshadows in Fringe, Bill, Drift, and lippie stick and pencil in Raw πŸ™‚ I also got Holika Holika Heartful Moisture lipsticks in Candy Red and Sweet Coral, because I’m a total sucker for their heart-shaped bullet πŸ˜€ Not sure the coral suits me, but I’ll figure out a way to wear it.

I get to spend the whole weekend looking for a new flat. Hooray…

I’ll go for candy over flowers any day, unless the flowers are still attached to their plant. Or go for the best of both worlds — candied flowers!

I always thought halter-style dog leashes look really cute. The one time I tried one on my dog he tossed his head and pranced around like a little show pony. It was really cute, but he doesn’t pull on a regular leash anyway, so that’s what he’s stayed with.

Oooh, ColourPop! How are you liking them so far?

Mellan is pretty good on a walk, but we seem to have bad luck when it comes to other dog owners – a lot of off leash dogs in our area!

Haul: Nothing this week. Technically at least–my Sephora order will fall under next week’s haul.

Weekend plans: Nothing special. My wife’s birthday is a week before Valentine’s Day and we’re both kind of meh about Valentine’s Day, so we don’t usually do anything. And we really wouldn’t this year since we went in to SF last weekend.

Flowers or candy: Candy!

Haul: Too Faced Melted Lipstick in the new, very bright Candy shade, and the rather more moderate Perfect Pink lipliner, which may actually be an accurate description for once. It isn’t too bright, too warm, too cool, or too brown!
Weekend plans: calling my dad, who has always been my Valentine πŸ™‚
Flowers or candy: candy, seeing as I’m allergic to most flowers.

That is the face of a dog who knows he’s crossed on the wrong side of the law.

Haul: MAC Cherry lip liner (of course I’d lose the one I use almost every day!), NARS matte lip pencil in Dragon Girl. I blame Tay-Tay. I’ve spent the past two months listening to 1989 on repeat, and the girl wore me down. I also swatched the new Armani eye tints, and they were gorgeous. Photos do not do them justice. I had to talk myself out of buying one because is have to wear it every day for a month to justify a $38 single.

Weekend Plans: Relax for once. I finished up a few major exams this week, and I have a weekend to take a breath before plunging into midterm papers.

Haha! Is that the actual red she wears? It certainly is a good dupe for it, even if it isn’t the exact one!

Good luck on exams!

It is, actually. I think she mentioned in a fairly recent interview that it’s her go-to shade. I suspect that’s part of why it was sold out for awhile at our local mall, haha.

Haul: Target in Canada is closing and all cosmetics were 30$ off so I figured it would be a good time to get some of the things I’d been eyeing for ages. I ended up getting rimmel’s scandal eyes shadow stick in bad girl bronze (love that name) l’oreal silkissme liner in highlighter(glad you recommended this it feels like a high end item and just is such a hidden gem) a revlon cream blush in flushed, a cover girl quad in coffee shop(been into warm bronzes golds, burgundies lately) sonia kashuk eye brush that looks like a way denser and bigger version of mac 239, a maybelline creamy matte lipstick in ravishing rose, a physician’s formula pearl blush that is pink(got as I wanted a pink highlighter) I got the nars dual intensity palette last week( like but don’t love it)

Weekend Plans: running, gonna check out the new chanel collection, babysitting

Flowers or candy: Ima cheat, a bouquet of chocolate flowers

Haul: ABH Liquid Lipstick in Party Pink, and the NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette I ordered when I fell off the low-buy wagon arrived.

Weekend plans: Hubby has been working so much, and such late and erratic hours, we haven’t made any plans for Valentine’s Day. It turns out he will get the whole 3-day weekend off (knock on wood). We’ll probably try to grab a nice lunch or dinner somewhere. Beyond that I don’t know. Grocery shopping and housework is almost always on the weekend agenda.

Flowers or candy?: I’ll take either, but my hubby is more likely to buy candy. He’s allergic to roses and anything else with a strong scent. Sometimes I get carnations, though.

Haul: Nothing… However, I finally got around to actually using my tarte Holiday palette-which I purchased in October, LOL! I had to chaperone my daughter’s field trip Thursday at an outdoor aquarium, and it actually lasted all day without a primer/base, in 90Β°F! I overslept, and had to grab the firt palette that was a “no-brainer”, and in my haste, I forgot to prime…

Plans: It’s a 3-day weekend, so I plan to sleep in at least one day… This was a busy week; my daughter received an achievement award at school Wednesday, field trip Thursday, and today she was a finalist in the district Spelling Bee. Tomorrow, we’re going to the Japanese Museum, so that should be fun! My daughter has a strong interest in Asian cultures, so we’re fostering that.

Candy or flowers? Unless they’re roses, chocolate!

Haul: oh jeez where do I start?!? We got our tax money back so I’ve been going a little crazy. Let’s see: Anastasia Contour Kit & 3 of their new liquid lipsticks, 10 of the new NYX high voltage lipsticks, 2 of the intense butter glosses (l love them! Ordering more right now!) , Urban Decay foundation & new powder foundation and concealer, 2 of the new Physicians Formula blushes, UD moonstone shadow in Solstice, Hourglass Primer. There’s more I can’t think of!

Weekend Plans: Not much! It’s snowing!

Flowers or Candy: 100% candy! I’ve never been a big fan of flowers! I hate how they just die.

Hahah, Mellan – such a noble adventurer! Is he your familiar, Christine – or are you his? πŸ˜€

Haul: the same one item haul is still on its way to me, LOL!

Weekend Plans: returned and recovered from extreme conference-going…went out for a drink with the Wizard too! (not mead, no quaffing, no dwarven barfights though!)

Flowers or candy? Probably candy πŸ˜‰
