Haul: My Silk Naturals Order arrived so I have new lipsticks! About equally excited for the Oatmeal Face Serum since it calms down my super-ruddy skin.
Weekend Plans: I have a big box of cleaning supplies in the mailroom so I’m gonna clean EVERYTHING, wipe down my cabinets and mop the floors and stuff. I am actually pretty excite.
Winter: Winter is baller! I’m a knitter, I prepare for winter all year and then I’m like “Behold my beautiful and diverse layers!” The rest of the year I just don’t know how to dress myself.
Yay for new lipsticks! Which shade are you most excited to wear?
All of them! But probably Mayhem. It’s a deep plum pigmented lip balm that I’m going to layer over my other vampy tones throughout the day for moisture touch ups. I layered it over Cardshark, the deep red I got and it was magic!

Do you enjoy winter?: Yes, although I hate that it’s dark when I get up in the morning and when I leave work it’s dark. I do love winter weather in general. Last year’s ice storm, it knocked out power and trees, But it was beautiful in my eyes.
When I was going to school and had night classes, winter was the WORST! So dark.

Weekend Plans: I work, but I want to go out with a friend for dinner and a movie, at the very least.
Do you like winter? Yes! It’s my favorite, besides spring. Our summers here in Texas get ridiculously hot, so I prefer to snuggle up with some mac n cheese and Netflix my day away!

Do you enjoy winter? usually I do, I enjoy the colder weather as long as there’s no ice storms but I think what I mostly like is the changing of the seasons
What books are you looking to read?
Haul: I found MAC Harmony blush & Post Haste eyeshadow on eBay at near-retail prices (the blush was actually much cheaper!), and I also grabbed some magnets so I can finally put my MAC eyeshadows in real palettes.
Plans: I don’t know, yet…
Winter: I looove Winter! I prefer cooler weather, especially since I can wear more of my favorite clothes, plus I don’t have to worry about my makeup melting off.
How fun! Enjoy putting your shadows into palettes!
At least they’ve all been depotted, LOL! I’ve had them in old, empty water color palettes, but since MAC seems to be dropping prices on alot of things (the 15-pan neutral palettes are actually now $85-so I’m glad I waited!), and the empty palettes are now a fair/reasonable price, I may as well go for ot.
Haul: A pair of bird shaped gold stud earrings from RaelWear (Etsy shop) and a slouchy off-the-shoulder black shirt.
Weekend plans: Finish one paper (just need to complete an incomplete and I can graduate!) and clean up my desk area. I need to vacuum. I also want to swatch and photograph as much as I can. When I was in the previous semester, I had no time for blogging.
Do you enjoy winter?: I like the December part of winter: holiday cheer, fun times, eggnog, Yule celebrations. I dislike slushy streets, slippery sidewalks, icy cold winds and the lack of sunshine. It puts a cramp in my blogging activities when I can’t take photos because there’s no sunlight.

The MUFE Artist shadows are awesome, just like you said! I can see myself buying other shades to put in that compact. I also got the Kevin Aucoin Creamy Glow Sculpting and Candlelight Duo that you recommended, and I like it- you’re right, it’s SO much easier to apply contour that’s a cream rather than powder. Thanks so much for the product recs! And Mellan looks so adorable, he’s just begging for a belly rub..
Haul: I’m still waiting for the the Spring collections to come out here, so I’ve been a bit restrained. I did pick up one of the new Dior Rouge Baumes, because anything balm-related sounds good at this time of year.
Weekend plans: I’m up against a writing deadline, but once I’ve got that out of the way, I’ll move on to some clean-up around here. And watching soccer, which is a weekly ritual.
Do you enjoy winter?: More and more the older I get. It’s pretty much impossible to love when the temperature gets down to -20 for weeks, but I find I’m able to deal with most of it a lot better than I used to. It helps that I don’t have to go into an office any more, since that gives me a lot more flexibility in determining when I venture out.
I’ve been in California so long, I can’t imagine functioning normally in -20. It hits 30 on rare occasions, and it might as well be a snow day, lol.
Seriously, a few weeks ago, it was in the low 60s and rainy here, and everyone was so cold and complaining. Then I felt bad when I thought of my family back east, happy when it got up to 30 degrees! It didn’t make me feel less cold though.
Aww..look at cutie Mellan! Christine, you gotta let me know what you think about the differences between the shades of the meteorites..I’m going bananas! I am actually heading to the mall this evening. I called and they said they did not have the pressed in at Nordstrom yet. The SA said she thinks the loose are “better”..You prefer the pressed,correct? I have the ligtest color loose. But a compact would be nice. If I am getting a medium, I really don’t want to buy both loose and pressed unless necessary. ..totally off the topic..sorry. I have been obsessing over that ,hourglass palettes, and MUFE shadows all week! ugh..it keeps my mind off other stressful things though.

winter-I hate winter. I live in Ohio and winters are brutal here. I grew up in Houston Tx and moved here at the age of 12 .My heating bill is absurd along with my online cosmetics shopping bill. 🙂

I know! And the Sephora phased it out and has Cover FX there now! Whaat?I am moving,lol! (I wish). Winter and now this! .I am totally drooling over the entire Guerlain spring line.The baby glow and kinda the blush too. But, with the baby glow knowing me,I’ll be between shades and have to mix. I hate not being able to try out a base type product first. I just mentally chopped my allotment of MUFE shadows to kick off my goal in half because of spring lines!Probably going to have to start with 6 🙁
Oh well!gotta start somewhere. Plus it makes the decision making easier.

I get that. The SA tried to tell me the pressed didn’t work as well because you couldn’t get the full diversity that the “balls” have,lol..I just said I would look online. it’s that whole thing where they try to get people to buy both versions and I really don’t know if that is truly necessary with the quality of pressed powders we have these days.Typically,I only “touch-up my nose with a blot powder unless it’s been a really long day and I am trying to extend it into a night which is not much. Yes. starlight is a beauty. I love it because it’s got just the right amount of sheen. Not over the top. Very pretty. I an glad I caught that review!Thank you again!

Winter: Winter = cuddly sweaters, skiing and more excuses for cinnamon, Therefore, Winter – awesome. Having said that, I don't really like it more than other seasons – I don't think I have a favourite!

Haul: This week I got some books I ordered from Amazon which include Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes, Everything is Perfect When You’re A Liar by (fellow Canadian) Kelly Oxford, This Changes Everything by Naomi Klein, and The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker. I’m currently trying to finish up reading Blink by Malcolm Gladwell so I can dig into my new books! I also received my order of Partylite jar candles that were on sale!
Weekend plans: My boyfriend & I are going to a friend’s birthday dinner tonight & will likely relax & catch up on some DVR’d shows on the weekend!
Do you enjoy winter?: I don’t mind winter because I live in it for 8 months of the year haha! I can’t say I’m avid about outdoor winter activities. But I don’t mind it because I don’t engage with it, haha. I do love the sun, longer days and the warmth, and summers are fantastic here 🙂

I was when I was a kid I was definitely more of an avid reader, then in university I didn’t have much time or drive to read for pleasure because of all the required readings! I’ve been trying to get back into reading for fun for a while (I graduated from university almost 3 years ago & I don’t know if I’ve finished an actual book since), and my boyfriend bought my Amy Poehler’s book Yes Please for Christmas. It’s a funny memoir, I enjoyed it so much & finished it quickly! So I’ve been on a bit of a book kick since 🙂

Do you enjoy winter?: Not really. It’s dark, rainy, windy and cold. I enjoy the holidays, and those rare occasions when we get snow. The snow is always so pretty and peaceful, and doesn’t usually last long.
How are you liking the Stained Glosses?
I’m really loving them. I got the AfterDark set. So there’s a bubblegum pink, an ultra-bright crimson, and a bright fuchsia (the print is too small for me to read the names, even with my glasses). I love how pigmented, bright and opaque they are. There is also the sheer black one (Little Black Dress, I think) which is wonderful for mixing or shining up matte black lipstick. They’re not messy at all, which I thought they would be.

Do you enjoy winter?: Yes. I love winter. I like it because it gives me the excuse to use my fireplace to make the house warm and cozy and nestle up in the couch with sweets and a good book. The only thing missing from that scenario is a handsome, muscular, not-so-talkative man. LOL!

Haul: Nothing this week. I’ve been sick and my cat’s been sick. I did do some online retail therapy so I have stuff coming.

It’s been the week of the deals. Amazon had all six of the Spring 2014 Maybelline Color Tattoo LEs–the “Dare to Go Nude” collection–for $18 and I couldn’t resist the deal. Also I picked up some of the NYX lipstick sets off HauteLook today.

I finally got my hands on the new Physician’s Formula sparkly nude eyeshadow powder pallet which is quite glittery and also the new eye booster Instant Lash Extension mascara, both of which I plan to try out tomorrow.
I’m not a fan of winter AT.ALL, I like fall the best when I can wear cute stuff and not have to bury it under layers of coats, sweaters, scarves, mittens, hats, gloves and STILL be cold. Plus warm boots are so clunky and not cute like fashion boots are! Scraping my car windows in the cold is a big drag, too and the dogs can’t stay outside long because I don’t want them to get too chilled. My favorite has always been fall when it’s crisp and not so cold I have to dress like Michelin Man just to go outside.

Do you enjoy winter: It’s not my favorite season. I like to bundle up in a cute warm coat with cute winter accessories. I hate when there is a heavy snow storm because I have to shovel or clean the snow off my car. I prefer spring and summer any day or at least not a lot of snow.

Haul: I bought the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation in Shell Beige 102 to mix with the Classic Ivory 101 I already have. That almost makes the perfect color. I’m really loving this foundation! Mostly I have been “shopping in my closet” – by going through and organizing my stuff, I’ve found things I forgot I had or haven’t used in awhile, so that’s actually been kind of exciting.
Weekend plans: Having said all that, Tuesday is my birthday, so I probably will do a bit of shopping! 🙂 And eating out, a lot! My husband and I both took Monday and Tuesday off. So happy to have a four day weekend!
Do you enjoy winter? I live in Southern California, so we don’t really have winter here, although it does get a little cooler. I don’t miss snow (I grew up in Pennsylvania), but I do prefer the cooler weather. I love boots and sweaters!

I’m so frustrated with my skin! Omg, and I haven’t tried that line fully, so I don’t know what else, lol! 😉 I noticed in searches of skincare products in all brands, that I seem most interested and fascinated by cleansers! 😛 That’s just odd. I did order Tatcha items!!! We will see from there!
Weekend Plans: Small organizing of recent purchases and purchasing a 3rd palette for my mother, the Laura Mercier Watercolor… whatever. I’m excited for her to have one! 🙂 I must also reorder supplements! :p

Sephora order: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer (two repurchases), Jack Black lip balm (my lips are dry in the winter, so I need to find out what everyone’s raving about), five Make Up For Ever eye brushes (small, medium, and angled shaders, small smudger, large blender — I tried the travel set first and love these cruelty-free brushes), Bare Minerals Ready 2.0 eyeshadow duo in Showstopper (periwinkle/dark lavender), the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics 6 pencils set and their Lip Tar Trio in Vivid (Nylon/Harlot/Trollop) and the After Dark Stained Gloss Test Tube set (all OCC products on sale — I got a lip tar in my Beautylish Lucky bag and that got me started on working with them again — I love mixing the colors, but they still won’t last through a meal on me, leaving a ring around the edge of my lips, but I’ve learned that if I swipe a Fresh Sugar or Silk Naturals lippie in the same color family over that they’ll mix together well and I’ll look fine until I can get to a mirror and a good light). A separate Sephora order of Jack Black Beard Lube and lip balm for my son’s birthday also arrived.
ULTA haul: the Bare Minerals Ready 8.0 eyeshadow palette in Posh Neutrals — I feel like this one and the Sexy Neutrals palette are flying under the radar under distractions from Hourglass and Urban Decay, but they swatched really nicely, so here’s hoping for better quality from Bare Minerals — I was almost ready to give up on eyeshadow palettes and just stick to single and duos and make my own palettes.
Weekend plans — I work every Sunday morning, unfortunately. Saturday night is one of my nights to cook, but I’ve got a ton of good leftovers to start with, so all I have to do is scoot over to the market for some fresh salad fixings, giving me an excuse to try my new products before taking them off because this afternoon will be a home spa day, deep conditioning my hair, getting rid of rough skin on my feet, and getting my nails ready for polish.
After work on Sunday I’ll probably just come home and relax because the weather forecast is for some cold rain — part of winter I really don’t like! When it’s in the 20s or 30s but sunny, I can actually enjoy going for my long walks — even if it’s snowing — but I hate a cold rain! Then my son will cook dinner and we’ll watch Downton Abbey (my choice, but he puts up with it) while we play with our pets (Natasha the dwarf hamster is mine, Rocky and Pepper the guinea pigs are his) and I knit and he plays computer games.
Haul: I did a lot of running around this week so I didn’t really get a chance to shop too much. I grabbed a Maybelline lipstick, 2 Wet n Wild lipsticks, a Black Radiance powder, Covergirl mascara and Cerave moisturizer.
Weekend Plans: Hopefully getting some rest. I’ve running around a ton these days
