What was your last splurge?: Some Tom Ford brushes! Although to be honest, they’re great but not exactly mind-blowing considering the price tags. I hope I won’t get pelted with stones for saying this!
Do you like other brushes better than your Tom Ford brushes? Which ones did you get?
I have the Eye Shadow Brush, Cheek Brush, and Cream Foundation Brush. I just feel like I’ve tried hair that’s much softer from Le Metier de Beaute and Wayne Goss! Those brands make brushes that feel SILKY, while TF is more or less just soft. I do like how dense the face brushes are though!
Interesting! I definitely think TF is softer than Wayne Goss (not by a lot, though), and I wasn’t in love the one Le Metier de Beaute brush I tried (the buffer one). What Le Metier de Beaute brushes do you recommend? Sometimes I forget the brand still exists since their distribution seems so limited these days!
Oh wait, I have only tried WG eye brushes. Have you tried those?
I really like my LMdB eye shadow brush, blush brush, and powder brush. You’re right about the distribution though. All that VIP vault business has pretty much put me off the brand for good.
One last thought: I do think TF brushes have the best handles out of the three and feel well-made. I just thought for the price tag I’d get something as soft as an Angora rabbit!
I’ve only tried some of the face brushes from Wayne Goss but none of the eye ones!
It’s a real shame about LMdB and its distribution shrinking (and I feel like they release so few new products, though I know they just released a couple this past week).

Haul, not a lot, I got Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in dark brown. I like it, I think my brows look a lot more natural with this product, and if I want to, it’s easy to really draw them on with it. I bought a lipstick from Maybelline Midnight Plum, 338 and an eyeshadow from Makeu up Store, Volcano, a marbel eyeshadow in pinks, black, blue, gold, it’s quite lilac when all mixed together.
I went by Bodyshop because I wanted to try their new nail polishes, so I got one in grey, Big Smoke. Without any basecoat it lasted some 15-20 hours, I’ll try it with a good base, my nails are like that, so it’s probably not the polish. I also got a lipstick in a shimmery plummy colour, I can’t find what they call it, if anything, but the number is 120. They had an offer if one bought nailpolish, lipstick and an eyeshadow, so I had to get an eyeshadow as well, I bought a shimmery pink305, Berry Cute nuance Rosé Timide.
I made quite a long story of that little haul 🙂
Almost forgot, I got two skincare products from Elisabeth Arden PRO, a serum and a moisturizer.
Weekend, I’m going with Stubbs the schnauzer to learn how to fix his fur on Sunday. On Saturday I might go shopping for new winter boots, and I must help my son with a school assignment.
Last splurge, other than some expensive makeup, I think it’s my car, and it’s a used one, but cars still cost quite a lot
Does The Body Shop’s polish wear about as long as most polishes do for you or was it shorter/longer? (even at 15-20 hours!)
I’d say it’s about the same. My nails are quite weak, the tips on some of them peel.
I’m goint to try the Bodyshop polish with Formula X base and top coat as that helps my Essie polishes last for a week, it’s a bit like magic. formula X makes OPI last some four or five days, so I guess it’s down to how the formulas work together.
I really like the colour of the Bodyshop polish, it’s my first true grey
Haul: I picked up the Vice 3 palette, UD’s lip gloss in Red Light, and UD’s polish in Zodiac from the 20% off sale!
Weekend plans: The rough draft for my capstone research project is due by Sunday night, so that’s going to take up most of my weekend.

I went a little crazy this week lol. I ordered 2 lipsticks from the MAC Matte Lip collection, a skincare box, the Too Faced Melted Lipstick set and a bag and Barbie sweater from Forever 21. I also picked up a few lippies from CVS and Ulta. I’m going to quietly sit in the corner and cry with my wallet now lol

■Haul: Laura Mercier Mini Caviar Sticks set (the six piece version from Macy’s) and her Face Book in Nude, Anastasia Tamanna Palette, Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in Lolita (the Sephora location I went to was out of Bauhau5, so I’ll get it online with a few other goodies), Dior Star Fluid Foundation in 020 (Light Beige). I think I might return it though, it doesn’t last very long on my oily skin.
■Weekend plans: Dinner and a movie/girl’s night out with my coworkers tonight, might go to Salem, MA for the Haunted Happenings on Sat night (it’s a series of activities the city hosts during the entire month of Oct), and finally Microbiology class on Sunday (yay and such).

Haul: This week I received the Real Techniques LE duo fiber brush set & Nic’s picks! I also got 2 pairs of booties from Hautelook & a large pink Z palette since my MakeUp Geek collection is growing substantially! 😀
Weekend plans: My in-laws, sister-in-law & nephew are coming to town and staying with my bf & I for 3 weeks & ten days, respectively! So I’m happy his family gets to visit, since they’re from far eastern Canada! It’s the first time his sister & nephew have been ‘out west’!

Haul: I was pretty good this week and didn’t buy anything. I’ve been cleaning my bathroom and going through my stash and seeing all what I have. So I guess when I go browsing, I just keep thinking to myself, I already have something like that… I did receive the Guerlain Holiday Meteorites that I ordered last week.
Weekend plans: Volunteering at the Humane Society with my husband…same ol’ same ol’ here, too. But it’s the weekend, so it’s intrinsically good no matter what. 🙂

Weekend plans: Today is my birthday, so I’m hoping to squeeze in cake and presents, probably Sunday night. Hubby is working major overtime today and Sat. Sunday, we have to go pick up my older son from grandma’s, which will take about 5-6 hours unless hubby stays and visits a bit, then longer.
What was your last splurge (of any variety)?: Our wedding anniversary was in August. We stayed a few days in a nice hotel right on the beach, with a hot tub on the deck. Fancy expensive dinner to celebrate. It all was worth every penny.

Haul: I went a little nuts this week. Wet n Wild has a sister brand they release products from only around Halloween. It’s called Fantasy Makers, I bought a loose glitter and back ups of glosses I already tried. The glosses are so sparkly and unique, I bought two more of each since they were so cheap. 🙂 I also got a GORGEOUS Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow in Frosted Apple and one of the NYX Simply Vamp Lip Creams in Bewitching. Best of all, I splurged a bit on the Chocolate Bar Palette! I’m a bit late to the party, haha. 🙂
Weekend plans: Probably gonna try to see some friends and visit my grandfather. Nothing big.

I mean, they’re not great quality but they’re so pretty. One is a clear gloss PACKED with rainbow glitter. The other is black with some sort of multi-color glitter. So sparkly, reminds me of a cheap version of the Dazzleglasses! 🙂
The palettes that aren’t eye safe, I’ve seen people use them as eye shadow bases- I’m not brave enough to put that near my eyes, haha. But I wish they were eye safe! :c

Haul: I went a bit mad this week! Bare Minerals Designer Label quad, UD Vice3 (I caved – I couldn’t help it); Maybelline Colour Tattoo Leather in Creamy Beige and a set from Jouviance (Canadian company) with my new favourite serum/moisturizer and a free Purifying Exfoliator. Oh, and I got a tube of the Purity Made Simple foaming cleanser, which I think I prefer over the original.
Weekend plans: not much. Planning to take it easy this weekend.
Last Splurge: not counting the Vice3 palette (which I really didn’t need) probably my most recent pair of shoes.
What is the serum/moisturizer you get from Jouviance?
It’s called Restructive SRD and it’s fairly new. At first, I wasn’t sure what it was and assumed it was a serum. The instructions are VERY vague (also, because it’s high in Retinol, I figured it was mean to be used UNDER a sunscreen-containing moisturizer in the daytime). I emailed the company and heard nothing back but the cosmetician at SDM, when I was buying my 2nd bottle (the one in the special offer) said that, no, it was a moisturizer/treatment all on its own, though she did concede that when used in the daytime, a sunscreen would be necessary. It’s a great product and it’s also about half the price of their original 3-in-1 moisturizer, which is also an amazing product (every time I start using it again, especially in combination with their cleanser, I wonder why I get lured away by other routines and products!)

Haul: CoverGirl lip gloss in Melted Toffee (similar in color to MAC Obviously Bare), e.l.f. Cool Matte Bronzer (I ended up loving the color so much, I went back for another, but it’s on the powdery side, so I’ll likely be dipping into the second fairly soon, LOL!), e.l.f. Baked Blush in Pinktastic, e.l.f. small crease brush, Rimmel Scandal’Eyes in Nude (sooo long-lasting on the waterline!), and 3 MAC shadows from eBay-Night Maneouvers, Nanogold, and Moth Brown-which averaged out to around retail for each, if you include sales tax.
Plans: Cleaning Saturday, then going to a local Pumpkin Patch to pick out a Jack-o-Lantern, plus it has a bouncy house, a petting zoo, and several other things for kids. If time permits, we’ll carve the pumpkin, but it’ll likely wait until Monday.
Splurge: Probably the MAC Gravitas palette… Although it’s a great deal, andni’ve hauled more in one go, this is the most I’ve probably paid for one, single item…
How long does Nude last on your waterline, Amy?
I put it on around 2pm, forgot about it, then happened to look in a mirror when I was out around 4 hours later, and it was still solid-which is a long time for such a pale shade. I have a nude from MUFE, as well as MAC Chroma pencil, and both require a touch up after about 3 hours. I’m going to give the Rimmel a full test-drive today, though!
Sephora: actually last week, lash stash + BE Dolly set as presents. More Lip, Nars Jeanne + Bite Brandy Matte for me. There’s no such thing as too many browny reds for me. The nudies + pinks may go to my young makeup friend, though I’m trying to increase the comfort zone with shades like naked dolly (Too Faced.) + Sephora birthday..the pic indicated that the color would be a red, but it’s not, it’s a sheer pinky nude. Liking the Moody, Fresh plum, Sephora Rouge Infusion, LM? Red Armour, etc. The KVD is the same color that i gave away last year in full size, second to old lady shrink wrapped lips. But i big time loved the color and Jack Black prep saves the day! Thanks, Jack!
This week, I did UD F+F for Vice 3 (Grade B for Better, like i said elsewhere) and 2 presents: double ended naked pencils and Habitual set. Could have been much worse…did they sell out Gash? Don’t tell me I missed it on the second go round!! The revolution set is not my thing, with the pink overload, and you can’t gift something minus 1.
Plans: walking Jussi with his Dachsie friend + another walk with my landlord’s Cav. What a sweet breed that is! (My landlord suffers from MS + is doing poorly, needs a visit with amusing anecdotes. Too bad there aren’t any this week. Just another funeral.) Cleaning. TV (I just got it back after ~2 years). Leaf peeping with Jussi in the local state park. Changing over to fall/winter clothes. Playing with Lorac ProMega, that came. (Oops, another grade B for better.) The peaches/oranges play nicely with the deep teal as liner; the plums are nice. It’s no Monarch, but it’s decent. (BTW, I always have been a color fan + i thought i was saturated w/ neutrals, but that palette (Monarch) is damn fine, + the most suited to me of any of the myriad neutrals. Thanks so much for the rec.
Splurge: It’s probably going to be Petrouchka. ‘Sit, stay, my beautiful malamute.’ Petrouchka was one gorgeous alpha bitch, and NEVER say bitch, like it’s a bad thing. Large and in charge. I had her in the 80s + 90s + miss her every day. Her urn is under a malamute treetop angel.
They might have sold out on Gash, if you didn’t spy it there during the sale! Monarch was a really lovely palette, so I’m glad you were able to grab that and it’s nice to hear it’s working so well for you 🙂 I’m hoping spring will be a fresh start and brands will put out more interesting items.

What was your last splurge (of any variety)?: New Macbook Air – my old Pro was slow and running a serious OS error.

Haul: blush from the Shu Uemura x Shupette collection, skincare from Dermstore (first time I order from them, they had a 30% sale): Lab Series moisturizer with SPF for my husband, REN micellar water, Ole Henriksen Herbal moisturizer and Fresh Start eye cream.
Plans: nothing as of yet.
Last splurge: hmm if travel counts, a trip to Sri Lanka.
What was your favorite part about your trip to Sri Lanka?
Haul: The Body Shop’s camomile cleansing butter and green nail polish; Revlop lip butters in Fig Jam and Red Velvet. Wanting to pick up some Wet n Wild fall lip shades. NYX’s Wicked Lipsticks haven’t arrived to my Ulta yet. 🙁
Weekend plans: spruce up the yard, a friend’s bday dinner, wine festival and Buster’s vet appt!
Last splurge: probably my Kate Spade bag…and that was over a year ago. :-/

It is so adorable that Mellan’s toys are almost as big as he is! My Siberian Husky thinks she is too grown up to play anymore (she is four). Breaks my heart. It looks like Lamb Chop in the background!

Weekend Plans: Ballet, uni work, the usual. Enhanced by the fact that my ballet teacher asked me if I would fill in for her and teach a class when she has to be away! I nearly flipped out, LOL. OK, I might actually have flipped out. Squee-ing may have happened.
Last splurge:my last real splurge was probably supporting the Kickstarter for Rebecca Guay’s art book (I got the special boxed edition)! 😀 If we’re talking imaginary splurges, I have the most epic list of makeup I would love to be able to get from the US, LOL! I don’t even know what the total would be!

Haul: Still playing with all my new makeup of last week, haven’t even tested half of the eyeshadows yet, I don’t know how you manage Christine! I did get some new deodorant that actually warrants mention, I am so in love with it, strange I know. It is Dove Advanced Care Deodorant, and it is like amazing moisturizer for your underarms, I can’t even tell enough people how amazing this stuff is.
Weekend plans: Work, trying to get motivated to do something other than sleep on my days off this week. 🙂
What was your last splurge (of any variety)?: I bought myself a new purse and wallet last week, I hadn’t splurged on a great purse in ages, and I have been so in love with it! I just want to polish it every time I walk by. LOOL

Haul: I replaced a few staples this week: Face of Australia Face Base Primer, Trilogy Rosehip Oil, Essano Rosehip Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser, plus I also picked up Face of Australia Translucent Loose Powder, and Fudge Hair Chalk in Pumped Up Purple. Most excitingly, I got my Revlon Colorburst Lipglosses that I bought on eBay! Papaya, Gold Dust, Rosegold, and Sienna Sparkle.
Weekend plans: Almost finished now, but I worked and attended an engagement party, was good fun.
