- Haul/Rediscoveries: Chanel No. 5 hand cream, lotion, and a bath soap for my grandmother’s birthday, Pat McGrath Divine Rose Palette, Fresh Unmask Gift Set, Dr. Jart+ 7 Day Mask Experiment Kit
- Weekend plans: Planning to take some photos/swatches this morning (hopefully not too many things!), write reviews, go grocery shopping, enjoy the cooler (but still warm!) weather in Arizona.
- What are you looking forward to in November?: Making a dent into the holiday reasons… usually by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, it actually feels “quiet” for me, though I think it might take me at least until then, LOL!

Haul: I nabbed the Ambient Lighting Ghost Edit Unlocked palette and a couple of gifts with the Sephora sale (hoping the Unlocked palette is okay for my skin tone; I guess I’ll see when I open it up!)
Rediscoveries: Starting to rediscover my powder blushes a little bit… I just don’t like the way powders set on my cheeks, but I find if I use a liquid blush and “set” it with a little bit of powder blush, it works. Blush has always faded very quickly on me, so this little trick seems to be helping with that.
Weekend plans: Family is coming to town! I’m excited to see them!
What are you looking forward to in November?: Shopping for the holidays, Thanksgiving and family time, and just the all-around cozy feeling that this time of year has for me. It will be fun to see how my son reacts to everything this year.
I use powder blushes and then set it with my setting powder (translucent) and that seems to keep the colour in place longer. Blushes generally, I think, fade more quickly than say foundations.
How lovely to see your family Celesta and your little boy would love a visit from them too. He will be of an age to really enjoy and understand more of Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. Enjoy your weekend.
Haul: As promised, I hit the Sephora VIB sale while I was down in Portland. I picked up:
-Natasha Denona Gold mini palette.
-The Bite Beauty mini tin.
-Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Electric Empire.
-FAB KP Eraser Scrub (restock, I’m almost out).
-Kiehl’s Oil-to-Foam body cleanser… thought we were buying a face cleanser, whoops. But I’m almost out of bodywash anyway so this just saves me a trip to Lush.
I also got charged for a Supergoop sunscreen that I neither put in my basket nor received in my bag, which is not cool. I have to go to my local store and see if they will make it right for me. I didn’t realize it until yesterday, otherwise I would have taken care of it while I was still in Portland.
Weekend plans: Y’all ready to be jealous? We’re going to the Northwest Chocolate Festival on Sunday 😀
Other than that, the usual errands and chores, including the above-mentioned Sephora trip to take care of the sunscreen charge.
What I’m looking forward to in November: Steaksgiving. When my partner and I moved to WA, we had to start establishing our own holiday traditions. We realized that neither one of us was that excited about turkey, so we decided to do steaks instead, with our favorite sides. There will be some manner of potato (mashed or roasted probably), homemade cranberry sauce, whatever sort of veg looks good in the store, and some manner of dessert, probably home-baked. Cider and/or cocktails to drink. Lots of relaxation. It’s going to be great!
Yes, I am jealous AJ – what a wonderful festival to have in Autumn. I hope you get some very yummy goodies there.
I am not a turkey fan either, we usually have Roast Pork and Beef for our celebrations. I wished we had Thanksgiving here in Aus. as a tradition because I think it is lovely to reflect on all that you are thankful for.
Roast potatoes are so, so yummy too.
We do something similar at Christmas. Usually we make from-scratch Chinese food, but we’ve done other things other years when we weren’t up to that. As long as you’re eating what makes you happy, right? Two turkey holidays in a row is just too much for us.

I tried twice to get Pat McGrath Ritualistic Rose… is sold out in the wee hours of the morning on the Candian site at the start of each phase.
Weekend plans: GAH had a nice existential crisis this week and weeded out a tone of makeup I was holding onto to review… There was NO POINT for me to do that. So I’m going through my KEEPER draws as well. I’m also returning the MAC Cosmetics Hyper Real Glow Palette-Get Lit again, only bought it to review but realistically I was NEVER going to use it… I need to spot just buying things to review and get things I actually want.
What are you looking forward to in November?: hmmm… helping to clean out my family’s house….. lol
I really want that Nocturnal Nirvana quad! Have you tried it out yet?
Sorry I missed this comment, it’s REALLY pretty! It’s her shimmery and VR formals and the purple reminded me of a newer version of MAC old purple mineralize eyeshadow that I forget that name of from 2008’s.
Such a good, cooperative pupper! Yesterday, I bought a new collar for Clarissa, and she REFUSED to let me get near her to put it on, I gave up after roughly 7-8 minutes, LOL!
Haul: YSL x Zoe Kravitz Scout’s Red lipstick, Smashbox Fishnet Always On Eye Pencil from Sephora’s sale. Ordered a bunch of things from Decium: Buffet, Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane, Hyaluronic Acid, and an intensive hand cream from their Chemistry line.
Weekend plans: Just finishing up the food shopping I was trying to do yesterday. Walmart @ Northsight was a hot mess. Almost ALL the cases of cat food was gone! Same thing at the Thomas & 38th St. location, too. This is redick. Anyway…also baking homemade banana bread cake (gf) today, doing hair and nails tomorrow, meeting on Sunday, then grabbing the cat food cartons (I hope!)
What are you looking forward to in November? HOPEFULLY getting sweater weather! And hot cocoa, pumpkin everything, boots, getting to use my leather jacket at night. I just want it to really cool off beyond the 80-88°F plus range. Dying for fall to get here!
I’m having fun with my new Bye Bye Birdie palette from CP that arrived this week. I did 3 different looks this week using it, two of them with the addition of shadows from other palettes. I’m really happy with the palette and glad I bought it!
For the weekend I have so many art/ crafty events! I’m even taking Monday off to attend a workshop. This should be a good one! : )
In November, I am looking forward to seeing the holiday collection from Starbucks – hoping to add to my travel mug collection. And the MOST exciting thing – I get my braces off (I’m 41 and this is my 2nd round in this lifetime). I look forward to smiling with teeth in photos again! ha ha. And I hope to eat a caramel apple!
Congratulations on the upcoming braces removal! Hurray for eating caramel apples and corn on the cob and all manner of previously forbidden foods. I got my braces off in 2016 and I’m still enjoying the sensation of just biting into an apple!
Mellan looks so dapper!
Haul: Huda Light Nude Obsessions with my Sephora Rouge discount, plus YSL Libre perfume for 100 points. I may have to buy a bottle of it!
Weekend plans: Visiting family, chores, rest.
What are you looking forward to in November? Eating yummy food on Thanksgiving without worrying about calories (you do know that calories don’t count on Thanksgiving Day, right? 😉 ). Another great thing in November is that I get four days off from work for the Thanksgiving holiday. November is also the month when I get an extra paycheck (next one is in May). And finally, the end of November (specifically Thanksgiving) signals the beginning of Christmas season … at least in my mind, because I grew up watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and it always concludes with Santa Claus.
Calories certainly don’t count on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day – like your thinking Seraphine. It echoes with mine…..
Birthdays, too!
Haul/Rediscoveries: My Shane mini palette and gloss came in the mail as did the Tati palette. Both are amazing. I also bought the Viseart Dark Edit in the sale and some Sheseido cotton squares as well as my eyelash primer.
Weekend plans: My son and I are getting haircuts on Saturday and we have my MIL’s 80th birthday party on Sunday.
What are you looking forward to in November?: Cool weather! :o)
Haul: I went to Sephora all ready to splurge on Tom Ford Oud Wood and, after spritzing myself with it, realized I really didn’t like it enough to drop that much cash for it (I remember it smelling lots nicer when I tried it in Ottawa). So it was an easy “walk away” but I also wanted to buy RMS Beauty’s Luminizer in Champagne Rose and even though the site said they carried it at my local, all the RMS stuff has been pulled from both my near-by Sephora stores, so I just ordered it online
Weekend plans: hubs went south to golf with his brothers so I have FIVE whole days of “me time” – eating what I like (he has some food allergies and also won’t eat pork since we visited a pig farm, won’t eat lamb – just drives me crazy) and spoiling myself. I have a training session tomorrow at the gym and then I’m taking my trainer to a nice little cafe in my neighbourhood which she’s never been to. I’m also taking in a batch of lemon mini-cheesecakes to the gym just as a treat to all the great young folks (and not so young folks) who work there and make it such a fun place to be.
What I’m looking forward to in November: I don’t have to host Christmas this year so I’m looking forward to a calm November! I want to do a bit of sewing – a few skirts, a very cool dress from a Finnish pattern company and also finishing the jacket I started weeks ago (I just need to set in the sleeves and hem them; everything else is DONE but I can’t seem to get going on it).
FIVE whole days to yourself Mariella – how heavenly that sounds! And the golfing time will be good for your husband too – to get away from the stresses of work and spend time with his brothers.
As we have discussed before – the, dare I say annoying?, eating habits of our respective partners (my husband doesn’t eat chicken (courtesy of visiting a chicken farm as a child); pork or lamb either), I always eat those foods when he is away camping with friends during March. Your lemon mini cheesecakes sound delicious and will be much appreciated, I am sure.
How lucky not to host Christmas this year – you can chill out at someone else’s place for a change. I remember that last year you had the drama of your linen closet leaking and it was quite a difficult time for you.
Enjoy your weekend Mariella.
Enjoy the five days of “you time,” and eat all the yummy foods you can. 🙂
Enjoy the five days to yourself! Sounds like you’re off to a good start! My spouse is going away overnight next week and I already have my dinner planned!
Haul/Rediscoveries:
Sephora 20% off:
Natasha Denona Mini Gold Palette – I honestly wish it was all shimmers or had a deep aubergine matte to compliment the regular Gold palette.
ABH Melt Proof Brow Kit – this is going back, I forgot it was in my cart and I had already checked out. I only need the Best Brows kit.
ABH Best Brows Ever Kit
The InKey List BHA
The InKey List Brighten-i Eye Cream
The InKey List Oil & Water Double Cleanser – this is going back. It’s not a bad product, but it doesn’t work for the way I like to cleanse my face.
Fenty Beauty Glossy Posse Mini Gloss Bomb Set
I still have another order I want to place, but I need to determine how much retinol I still have and if I want to splurge on the Laneige Kiss Me All Day kit.
Weekend Plans: I am working tonight. On Saturday, I’m actually going to splurge and get my hair done. Typically, I only pay for hair cuts b/c everything else I can do on my own so I don’t see the point in paying someone else to do what I can do for free, but last night I tried to wash it but I was just too tired from work. After that, a friend and I will be going to a play in the evening. Sunday, I’ll be heading to visit my grandparents.
What are you looking forward to in November: Thanksgiving and the Thanksgiving weekend. I’m off and I could really use the rest. Plus, my sweet nephew will be having his 3rd birthday party, so that will be fun and lots of family time.
You must be exhausted Jessica from working so hard and having someone to do your hair will feel like a well deserved luxury.
You are such a devoted family person, visiting your grand parents and getting so involved with your beloved nephew – he would be at such a cute age and stage at the moment.
Enjoy your weekend and have a little break.
Thank you Genevieve. I truly appreciate your kind words.
I just think Mellan is so cute when he wears clothing! I know, some people really hate it but he is such a handsome boy with his suit and tie.
Haul: I went to the Sephora in JC Penny’s and picked up a few things in person but mostly purchased on-line. In person, I picked up the Marc Jacobs Steel-etto palette, Drunk Elephant travel size Peekee/Juju soaps x 2, Buxom mascara and Sunday Riley Good Genes. On-line I picked up Algenist Genius Ultimate Bi-Phase Peeling Gel, Algenist Collagen Lip Treatment, Huda Nude Obsessions palette’s in both Light and Medium. I looked at the Mercury Retrograde palette and is has my name all over it so may purchase that before the sale ends.
Weekend plans: Nothing too strenuous as I have come down with a head/chest cold and am coughing non-stop. I am a little susceptible to bronchitis and am hoping that this doesn’t progress to that. I am mostly reading and resting.
Looking forward to November: Prior to the above cold I have been trying to get a few Christmas decorations and ornaments made. I do a traditional tree in my living room and a more personalized tree in my den/craft room. This year the non-traditional tree is going to be teal, pink, cream and silver. I am currently making origami ornaments for the tree but my actual output has fallen dramatically with not feeling well. I should be back on track early next week and will make up my quota!! I also love pumpkin bagels, pumpkin shmear and pretty much everything pumpkin themed so I am happy that these are all available here in Montana, for the month of November. My second vice is the apple/caramel suckers that most places have year around but near me, they are seasonal so I stock up on a couple of bags. I love the changing of the season’s here in Montana and November is generally a really nice month to see those changes. This year has been weird, though. For a couple of weeks now, it feels like we may skip much more of fall and go directly to winter. This means I need to do some early preparing for winter. I can get my snow tires on now and that becomes legal on November 1st so that is another thing I associate with November.
I hope you are feeling better soon Deborah, a cold is always on the cards when the weather changes. Our weather has been really changeable lately – with hot temperatures last week and this week it has been freezing. It was so cold last night that there was snow on the local hills.
Autumn must look beautiful out where you are. I have been completing my Christmas shopping and today I purchased some Christmas summer outfits for my grandchildren. It was hard to choose because they were all so gorgeous, but I restrained myself.
I think the Huda Nude Obsessions palettes in Light and Medium would look lovely on you and much better quality than those from Colour Pop and Norvina (shudder).
Have a restful weekend Deborah — lots of honey and lemon too.
I love the sounds of your Christmas tree color scheme! When I was very little, my mom had did a small white tree in hot pink and turquoise, and it was my favorite tree our family ever had.
I’ve been wanting to change up our color scheme the last couple years, and that we have a green tree again (the last one was metallic red), I might just do that. I’m considering either hot pink, chartreuse, purple, and teal, or else blurple, cobalt, and violet. I know my brother will hate both ideas, but my husband may go along with the blurple and cobalt. I don’t think my son’s care as long as there are gifts under it. lol
I think the blurple and cobalt would be stunning! I will have to remember that for next year. I played with the idea of doing a totally white tree because I just love all things white and sparkly and when you are making your own ornaments you can always find a lot of white paper. In the end, I decided on the turquoise/pink/cream and silver. I haven’t decided yet whether I am using the silver tree, a traditional green tree or a flocked tree. I actually have all three from previous years so just a matter of deciding. When I was married and Aislinn was little, we had a whole decorating tradition where friends would come over the day after Thanksgiving and we would all decorate the tree. I would make a dessert buffet and we would have wassail, hot chocolate for the kids, etc. I have found since I moved back to Montana, that people just don’t do that around here. Very few even decorate or put up lights outside. Sometimes I think the whole state needs an anti-depressant. Every year when my family come for Christmas dinner, they barely look at the decorating and my brother always asks why I went to all the trouble! I don’t know, it is apathy or depression or maybe even laziness. I love decorating for Christmas. I think you should go for it!!
I hope you feel better soon, Deborah! It’s no fun to be coughing nonstop! Your Christmas tree themes and ornaments sound wonderful. Our favourite Christmas tree ornaments are handmade.
Thank you, Tracey. I was feeling better earlier today but as evening has rolled around I am feeling worse again. That always seems the way with a cold. I love making ornaments and have literally boxes of them from previous years. Some I reuse but a lot of the time I just make new ones. It is the process more than anything. I may be postponing our Christmas into January though as both my daughter and my sister are in retail and cannot take any time off around the holidays. They want to come for my birthday in January so we may just wait and celebrate when they can both be here so that actually helps me out as I have another 2 weeks to get it together. Hope you had a good weekend.
Haul:
Sephora (VIB Sale): Shiseido cotton pads (compulsory sale purchase) + VERB Ghost Prep (I love everything I tied from VERB, so I decided to purchase this since I just finished the PHD 7-in-1 treatment) + mini Stellar Brilliant Primer (I’m finishing my current primer, redeemed 100 perk points) + mini Coco Cabana Body Cream (to put in a goodie bag to gift, I personally hate the smell, redeemed 100 perk points) + MakeUp Eraser (can’t wait to try, best 250 point perks spent ever) + 2 hair care samples (great as I am traveling end-of-month)
Weekend plans: It was such a crazy week at work, I didn’t even had time to think about the weekend. I have to make arrangements for my future travel, I was hoping to get tickets for a Harry Potter in concert event…
What are you looking forward to in November?: My travel back to Europe to visit my family.
That is something to really look forward to Ana Maria. Where do your family live in Europe?
I’m Romanian. 🙂
Rediscoveries: Urban Decay’s Urban Spectrum palette. It’s one of my favorite palettes and I just rediscovered it after pulling it out right before Halloween. I’ve been using it almost daily since.
Weekend plans: Writing! I’m doing nano so I’ve been writing daily. I’ll also be cross stitching. I’m working on my Halloween stitch along project and I’m almost done.
What are you looking forward to in November?: Hopefully more cool weather!
Urban Spectrum is my all time favorite palette. UD at their best.
Haul/Rediscoveries: In the past few weeks, I have hauled PMG Mothership I palette, Glossier Gen G in Leo, and that ELF primer that everyone has been raving about. I can’t think of any rediscoveries. I need to shop my stash!!

What are you looking forward to in November?: Cooking for Thanksgiving, the semester winding down, putting up holiday decor in the house soon
Haul:
*Sephora Rouge Sale: Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Palette and Clinique Chubby Lash Mascara in Bodacious Black Honey (I’m looking for a permanent-line burgundy mascara). I know I said I wasn’t going to get the Pat McGrath Nocturnal Nirvana, but Rakuten (form. eBates) finally gave me the option of a Sephora giftcard w/10% rebate boost, so I did that and combined it with the discount to get it dirt cheap. It’s beautiful, dupes be damned, and no regrets now that I’ve seen it in person.
*MAC: Starring You Lipglass in Starring You and Counting Stars.
Weekend plans: Catch up on all my email from this week. I was sick, and it’s seriously backlogged. I’m still not feeling 100% better, so I’ll probably take it relatively easy. My husband is coming down with the bug, though, so I may end up playing nursemaid to him.
What are you looking forward to in November?: It finally getting cool enough to wear sweaters. It’s been a rather warm autumn, so I hope November will bring some cooler days. Sweaters are my favorite clothing item ever.
I hope you feel better soon, Rachel. I love wearing sweaters, too!
Thank you, Tracy! I’m still fatigued and coughing a little, but I’m doing much better than this past week.
OMG – Mellon looks so so cute in his little outfit and what a gorgeous ‘smile’ he has! This is what a loved doggie looks like.
Haul: No makeup items, just the Derveen no soap cleansing wash in a big pump container.
Rediscoveries: Still using a different palette every other day: this week it has been the original Wet n Wild Comfort Zone, Vice 2, Flower Beauty Golden palette, Guerlain Les Verts….and a wide selection of lipsticks.
Weekend Plans
A pretty quiet weekend is on the cards – Saturday, just grocery shopping and tidying up the house.
Olivia and Lachlan were over yesterday – he with the train set, duplo and cars and Olivia is into all kinds of craft – mostly involving creating masks, headbands etc and cutting out and lots and lots of sticky tape…
Sunday – going down to an outlet of a shop that I often purchase from. I have a voucher that I have to use up before the end of November.
Looking forward to in Novemeber: My birthday. This year my twin sister and I are meeting up at a favourite restaurant for lunch and will be going out for dinner with the rest of the family. No cooking!
That sounds like a great birthday!
Thanks Rachel – now that our grandchildren are a bit older, we can celebrate at a restaurant that has a playroom – that makes it easier on everyone.
Happy birthday to you and your twin sister, Genevieve!! How nice that you can celebrate together. I also have a twin sister but she lives on the west coast, so we have our birthday celebration when we get together.
Haul/Rediscoveries: I placed an order with Sephora for skin care supplies to be delivered to my home in Calgary, I didn’t want to miss the 20% off discount.
Weekend plans: I’m flying home tomorrow, I’ve been living in Vancouver for the last two months taking care of my Mother through her cancer treatment. We thought she would make it to Christmas but it didn’t work out that way.
What are you looking forward to in November?: Helping my family heal and work through our grief.
I’m so sorry about your mother, Brenda. My condolences to your and your family.
Thank you Rachel.
Brenda, I’m so sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. Such sad times. Condolences to you and your family.
Thank you Tracey it is a difficult time and we are trying to focus on the happy times.
So sad to read about your mum Brenda – and it was good that you got to spend time with her and take care of her whilst she was so ill. November and Christmas this year will feel quite different for you and your family this year, missing your mother. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Thank you Genevieve, we all pulled together and made sure she was as comfortable as could be and supported each other as well. Now we have to make sure we keep her strong spirit alive within our family.

Weekend Plans:My husband works a lot so I’m happy to spend some quality time with him and our 3 dogs. Right around this time I like to do a test run of all the recipes I want to prepare for the holidays (so I don’t mess them up!!!) so this weekend I plan on making Biscotti and homemade Cheesecake.

Lisa Eldridge: Pre-ordered the Blue Velvet and Soft Velvet lipstick collections and a backup of Velvet Jazz, the perfect red for me.
