- Haul/Rediscoveries: Natasha Denona Face Glow in 30LMW, Kiehl’s Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-dermabrasion, Dr. Jart+ Summer Self-Care Set
- Weekend plans: I’m super behind this week, so I’m hoping to get up earlier so I can get more time in each day.
- What’s your interior design style like?: I don’t know that I have one. We have a fair amount of Ikea furniture, so it tends to be more streamlined with straight edges and lots of black-brown colors, while the house we live in is more like a contemporary farmhouse. I think my style tends to be more modern, but I like some coziness to my space, too — I can admire full-on modern from afar, but I can’t see myself living in it!

Haul: Last weekend I received another $10 reward from Macy’s, so I picked up the gorgeous MAC shade Show Orchid, which is unique in my collection. (The sales associate told me it was being discontinued, but it’s still on their website, so I’m not sure if that’s true.)
Rediscovery: ABH Modern Renaissance. I tend to dismiss it as being too red and orange, but I dusted it off this week and realized it has a lot more look options than I remember.
Weekend plans: Visiting family, exchanging a pair of shoes I bought last weekend for a better size, relaxing, laundry, grocery shopping, reading, walking my dog, etc.
What’s your interior design style like? Ideally, I like sort of a modern rustic country kind of thing (for lack of a better description), but my home looks nothing like that. It’s just a mish-mash.
Haul/rediscoveries:
Haul: I caved and bought the Colourpop Strawberry Shake palette, Easy Bake Ultra Glossy Lipgloss Shortcake Pressed Blush. Plus a pan of Tiki and Glass Bull eyeshadows.
Urban Decay Ex Girlfriend lipstick, Kylie Cosmetics Low Key Liquid Lip and Koko K Lipgloss and Colourpop Frog Super Shock Eyeshadow
And I made my first purchase of JD Glow Galaxy Eyeshadows in Secrets, Good Gawd, Opal and Fairy Acid
Old: ABH Modern Renaissance and Too Faced Sweet Peach are STILL my most perfect for me eyeshadow palettes. Love them so much!
Weekend Plans: I have to take a re-certification test for work but I hope to visit the Farmers Market Saturday morning before my daughter goes to work.
Interior Design Style: Shabby Chic? I love vintage stores and I have a lot of unique refurbished pieces in my place
Two things:
You look SO FREAKING YOUNG in your profile pic, how does your 2 year old daughter have a job???
Also, you are gonna love Glass Bull, so nice hauls!
Haha, good skincare skincare I guess and genetics . I wish my daughter was 2 bc that age was a blast. She’s 17. Lol. Maybe one day I’ll grow into my age but so far I’m usually assumed to be much younger?
I’m super excited about Glass Bull. It looks so dreamy in pics!
Haul: Bite Beauty Gazpacho (I have a mini that I’ve been loving lately so went to buy the full sized tube yesterday), 2 points perks of Tatcha Water Cream, a new tube of the Neutrogena 110 SPF cream I like for my body and I really lucked out at Marshalls – finally the Too Faced Peach Blur powder I’ve been looking for for ages and for a mere $12.99, and from the UD Beached collection, the Sun Kissed bronzer for a similarly fabulous price.
Weekend plans: my friend who often comes to stay is coming again tomorrow. I’m in the midst of making dessert now (a recipe I’ve never tried) and we’ll have a bbq here tomorrow night and then brunch at the golf course on Sunday. A bit of fabric shopping and general browsing around and I want to get to the gym before she arrives.
Decorating style: It’s an eclectic mix. I’ve got a lot of old pieces, including the desk at which I’m typing now, a cedar lined chest that was my mother’s, a cherry wood coffee table with cabriolet legs that is probably my favourite piece of furniture in the whole house and then a mix of newer things and Ikea stuff (does anyone with kids NOT have stuff from Ikea?). We need to replace our kitchen table, which has seen much wear and abuse and I’d really love to get a “living edge” table but hubby isn’t crazy about them and also feels they’ll date very quickly.
Haul: Waiting for it to get here – it’s going to be Christmas on Saturday, ha!
Rediscoveries: MAC Amorous Adventure quad – I love that Sex & The Oyster shade
Weekend plans: Unpacking and organizing my goodies and probably doing a purge as a result. Cooking/cleaning/laundry to get ready for the week. Pedicure on Saturday and a facial and mani on Sunday. The house will be quiet this weekend and I’m glad for it.
What’s your interior design style like?: Apparently it’s cozy spa oasis or something. I hired an interior decorator a few years back because my cacophonous hodge podge was not cutting it. With work picking up, I wanted to be able to relax in a sanctuary when I came home. I am very pleased with the results.
Love how Mellan is so curious about thall the newish plants! ?
Haul: Nothing this week. But I will be hitting Sephora either this afternoon or tomorrow for a few things. I did have a decent sized clothing haul last Saturday at JCP, though, when they did their Black Friday in July.
Weekend plans: Touching up my roots so that my hair looks good for next weekend’s Convention. Going food shopping late today. Will try to get to Sephora, too. Just embarrassing to bring my old lady shopping cart in there with me! Meeting on Sunday.
What’s your interior design style like? Like nothing I presently have going on, I can confidently say! I keep waiting for when I move to buy a new couch and stuff, but I may just go for it now. I’ve been wanting a faux leather sectional in a cordovan red type shade, dark wood for tables and other such stuff, wrought iron with glass round table set with stool height would also be nice for my dining area. Bedroom and bathroom will stay with all the purple, gray and lavender plus dark wood.
Haul: I just bought the Smashbox x Vlada highlighter with Ulta points because I wanted to get it before it is gone. I talked myself out of it months ago, thinking I just wanted it for the packaging and the embossing, but I cannot get the lemming to go away. So I got it for free with points. I used the $10 off coupon and also got one of the Kiko Milano lip and cheek pencils. I already got an eyeliner and a regular lipstick from them when they first got to Ulta and I am in love, so I expect to be thrilled with this haul.
Rediscovery: Bite Amuse Bouche Liquified, especially Chutney. I am gonna wear these so much this fall because they are phenomenal for work.
Weekend plans: My library needs my attention, because it is a hot mess. I have about seven-ish hundred books (literature major & future literature teacher here, so I can own that many books), and it is in a massive state of disarray. I also need to organize my vanity for the same exact reasons. But it is fun to go back and refine the collection in times like this, so I am looking forward to it.
You are so blessed Stephanie! The idea of a vast library like that sounds divine. I love my Smashbox XX Vlada Rosemantic Petal highlighter/blush! It was a good buy.
Haul: nothing yet. I got an email from Sephora a few weeks ago letting me know that if I bought $75 in merchandise July 10-15, I would receive a 15% discount code to use between Aug 1-5. One use only. Did get some stuff from the Holt Renfrew beauty week promo the other week – Dior Capture Totale Night cream refill, Charlotte Tilbury Glowingly Jen lipstick and a makeup bush.
Rediscovery: nothing. Been off for the past two weeks. Only wore makeup twice.
Weekend Plans: back to work Tuesday. May go to West Edmonton Mall. Still need to touch up my deck and front door railing. Seems to rain every day. Making th first of the season for me baby potatoes with cream and dill, and other young veggies. Watch the new 90 Day Fiancé.
Decorating style: I inherited some furniture so as it wears out I replace it. Modern but comfortable. Not a lot of knick knacks. Glass top tables, some fakeplants. Some prints from Homesense, along with vases, dried flower arrangements. Some family photos.
Interesting about the Sephora discount code, I received an e-mail with a code for 20% before July 30th out of the blue.
Haul:
*Target (25% off lipsticks sale) — NYX Pin-up Pout Lipstick in Flashy and Smoke Me; NYX Suede Matte Lipstick in Lavender & Lace, Violet Smoke, Cyberpop, Shake That Money, and Smudge Me; MIlani Color Statement Lipstick in Dulce Caramelo; CoverGirl Colorlicious Lipstick in Verve Violet; CoverGirl Exhibitionist Lipstick Demi-Matte in Bestie Boo. Also, Sonia Kashuk Essential Collection Complete Eye Makeup Brush Set and Sonia Kashuk Blush Makeup Brush.
*Macy’s ($50 gift certificate) — Tarte Tarteist PRO REMIX Amazonian Clay Palette.
*Overstock — Elizaberth & James 3.4 oz Nirvana Black and French Gray, and .5 oz NIrvana Black Perfume Oil. (Backups, because I’m hearing they’ve been DC’d).
Weekend plans: Nothing exciting. Cleaning and shopping.
What’s your interior design style like?: Eclectic and whimsical, and somewhat dark and weird. My husband isn’t into my weird/goth tastes so much, so we have to compromise. Our living room has red walls, dark woods, and artwork from Asia and India. Our bedroom is dusty teal with willow and leopard prints (sounds weird, but works). Our main bathroom is made to look like a science lab. My makeup room is Alice in Wonderland themed, and my son’s bedroom is Dr. Who themed. The kitchen is undergoing a makeover to make it a more quirky, because I got bored with the half-assed Mediterranean theme we kind of had going on. Hubby built me shelves for my Pop Figures and other little tchotchkes around the kitchen ceiling border, and we’re going to hang up my Willy Wonka poster and repaint the cupboards.
Haul:
-> Sephora order (I received a 20% coupon, but I didn’t need tons of stuff): VERB Dry Shampoo Mini (I don’t often use dry shampoo, I keep a mini one for emergencies), Peter Thomas Roth Jet, Set, Facial (wanted to try the PTR scrub without spending so much on the full size, the mini moisturizer and cleanser I’ll use for travel, the mask I’ll gift), Shiseido Facial Cotton (always snatching a pack when I have a code), Sephora Blotting Papers, Tarte Micellar Magic Makeup Remover & Cleanser
-> Paula’s Choice order: a set with the BHA 2% and the BHA body lotion (with a good discount), conditioner, RESIST Advanced Replenishing Toner, 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant (mini), RESIST Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 (mini, you can tell I’m preparing for some travel 😆 ), RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum (mini, gift with purchase), 10% Azelaic Acid Booster (full size, gift with purchase)
Rediscoveries: Same old, same old.
Weekend plans: Nothing special, just the regular long hike on Saturday, city or museum visit on Sunday, grocery shopping, meal prep, cleaning, etc.
What’s your interior design style like?: Minimal and neutral. Since moving from Europe to US 3 years ago with just a backpack, a carry on, a checked-in luggage and my cat, I’ve just embraced a minimalist style in my life and design. I just have the minimum furniture I need for my rental (bed, bedside table, drawer dresser with mirror, couch, desk with chair, diner table with chairs), almost no decor; all the wood in my furniture is dark brown with an antiqued/used finish, and all the textiles are dark cream). And you know what? I absolutely love it! I like viewing amazing interior designs… but in other people houses.
Haul: I wasn’t going to get anything, but Lipstick Day sales got me. Urban Decay Heroine at Ulta ($9.50, plus they sent me a $5 off of $10 coupon!), And then Maybelline Superstay crayons in Treat Yourself and Stay Exceptional.
Weekend Plans: Leaving on a big cross country road trip. Taking the kids to see the Rockies!
My decorating style: I like clean lines, but also very classical art styles. I’d like to think of it as eclectic, but it probably comes off as more of a mishmash.
Haul: Y’all I found my Holy Grail liquid lipstick this week (Too Faced Melted Matte). I got a sample of Queen B, then got Sell Out, Lady Balls, Gingerbread Man, Gingerbread Girl, and Clover II. I may have overdone it for National Lipstick Day, because those uh… were not my only lipstick purchases. :]
Weekend plans: I just want to be over this cold, because it is NOT fun. Hopefully I’ll be up for another run, I just started Couch to 5K and I’m ready for week 2!
Interior Design: Steampunk. We just redid our half bath and now the shelves/rods are made of black oil pipe (sealed and finished so they’re smooth).
Steampunk is so cool. I’ll bet your bath looks great!
Haul/Rediscoveries: I'[m not sure if this counts as a rediscovery-maybe more of a new discovery?-but as far as lipstick combos, L’Oreal Collection Exclusive Blake’s Pink mixes really well with UD x GoT Cersei!
Weekend plans: Worked all day today and am about to go grocery shopping, family reunion tomorrow, laundry and hopefully relaxation Sunday.
What’s your interior design style like?: I’m limited in how I can execute it, but I’d say it’s eclectic, colorful, and whimsical, with feminine touches and lots of pop culture pieces.
CCO: National Lipstick Day – Buy a lipstick, get a free Tom Ford lipstick (one of four shades). Purchased TF Lip Color Shine in Nubile (60% off) and chose Lip Color Shine in Willful for my free lipstick. They even threw in a free mini Estee Lauder lipstick bag.
Net-A-Porter (15% off): Charlotte Tilbury – Hot Lips 2 Patsy Red lipstick (adoring this red-raspberry shade!), Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, Magic Away Concealer, and Lip Cheat in Supersize Me.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Bobbi Brown Instant Glow Lip and Highlighter Set – includes mini highlighter in Pink Gold Glow (new shade), mini face blender brush, and mini high shimmer lip gloss in Bare Sparkle.
Lisa Eldridge: True Velvet Lipsticks – Velvet Jazz, Velvet Morning, and Velvet Ribbon.
Weekend Plans: My spouse and I are going home to Canada for a week and we’ve decided to make it a road trip. We know the path like the back of our hands, so we’re looking forward to the scenery and favourite stops along the way. We’ll see our parents, and have family flying in, so it will be nice to see them all and to be roaming around our home town together.
Interior Design Style: These days, I strive for uncluttered. I like a tidy presentation and rooms that look like they have some cohesion. So, clean and quaint might sum it up. I enjoy well made furniture from our parent’s era and earlier.
How adorable is Mellon? He always looks so sweet and good natured in your photos.
Haul: The other day on our travels, we visited the Thursday Island plantation Skincare factory – it is a natural, cruelty free skincare range based on the plants that grow in the region of northern NSW. They have a wide range of products, for example non toxic insect repellents, deodorants and skincare products for women who have undergone cancer treatments etc. Being their outlet, I purchased cleansers, moisturisers, a first aid pack (disinfectant creams, antihistamine creams, insect repellents) for my grandchildren and various other goodies for myself and my daughter in law.
Weekend Plans: Friday – we left Byron Bay in wintery weather and arrived in Queensland in quite sunny weather, staying overnight in Hervey Bay. We left the following more to journey to Rockhampton.
Saturday and Sunday we are staying in Rocky – just as well because we both have a stack of laundry to do and the place we are staying at has a guest laundry. Thank goodness. It’s quite a big town, the centre of the beef cattle industry here.
Interior Design – hmm – I would say fairly scandi – polished boards, carpets in bedrooms and minimal furniture. Our house probably needs a bit of a makeover in the bathrooms and the carpet in the family room needs redoing, but we are holding off until our grandchildren are older – not that they are deliberately messy, but they are little kids and they have accidents.
Haul: ABH lip glosses in Socialite & Sunset Strip
Weekend plans: Going out for Sunday lunch with my husband and daughter
Interior design style: Interesting question; my bedroom has a Scandi/Nordic theme, my husband’s bedroom (we both snore, hence separate sleeping arrangements!) has a kind of gothic feel to it, and my daughter’s bedroom is full of cat related items. The kitchen looks a bit like a builder’s site and the lounge has a cream/teal decor which looks rather nice, and I won’t let Hubby change it!
Haul/Rediscoveries: Maybelline Snapscara Mascara…decent so far. It’s pretty natural looking, but it does flake off a bit by the end of the day. It really does come off easily with warm water, though the good thing is that it doesn’t seem to get smudged from my watery eyes.
Also rediscovered my Nars Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. My goal is to finish it up this summer since it’s getting a bit old, and layering it with different lipsticks has really helped with that. It’s really fun mixing products together, plus it saves money on buying new products altogether lol
Weekend plans: Clean, declutter, dinner with friends
What’s your interior design style like?: Oh gosh, like a mix of eight different styles. I like cozy and simple, but with some gaudy and bold elements here and there as well lol. I tend to like more traditional style elements, though I have a more minimalist mindset, which I generally associate as more modern.
I tend to avoid anything that gives off a sterile modern look. Also don’t like spaces that look straight out of a magazine…I like random personal touches like mismatched picture frames and art pieces collected from all over.
