- Haul/Rediscoveries: Anastasia x Alyssa Edwards Palette, Becca Champagne Pop Collection, Jaclyn Hill Lipsticks x 20
- Weekend plans: I think I’ve swatched 5 of the last 7 days, which means I’m super behind on actually writing reviews — I usually pull dupes when I go to add product swatches to the database but haven’t been able to based on how many new products are releasing… lots of catching up to do.
- What was the last TV show you watched & enjoyed?: Great British Bake Off! I’ve seen all of the episodes (well, what’s available on Netflix), and it’s a go-to to watch for 20-30 minutes to fall asleep (not in a bad way, it’s just relaxing for me).

Haul/Rediscoveries: The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone, Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Amethyst (been for a long time on my no-buy 2019 wishlist but I finally caved)
Weekend plans: My sister is visiting (from overseas). Lots of catching up to do and enjoying time together
What was the last TV show you watched & enjoyed?: The bridge (a truly traumatizing Swedish criminal series)
also I forgot to add that I love your plants and Mellan!!
Thank you 😀
The Laura Mercier Caviar stick in Amethyst is a great buy and I think it is a versatile product that can be worn all year round. I hope you love it.
Fantastic news on your sister visiting and I am sure you will be spending a lot of time seeing the sights of where you live and having fun together.
I LOVE The Bridge – one of the best Swedish crime shows ever. I have all four seasons on DVD and have yet to watch the last one, I am saving it for a really rainy day.

Weekend plans: work…
What was the last TV show you watched & enjoyed?: Best Baker in America Marathon.
Haul/Rediscoveries: Nothing purchased, using my same products.
Weekend plans: Find a place to hide from the heat wave! I have tons of errands to do on Saturday, but I also want to go to visit a state park nearby with a wild beach. I’m still debating to purchase tickets for School of Rock musical on Sunday.
What was the last TV show you watched & enjoyed? I rarely watch TV shows and movies. I think the last one I watched (and liked) was one of the Rupaul’s Drag Race seasons available for free with Amazon Prime membership. 😆 And that must have been more than one year ago.
No haul or rediscoveries this week
My plans: puting on the A/C in my window with my parents’ help, doing some housework and working on my blog (taking photos is the sun is out, if not, it’s going to be writing).
I really like The Rookie. I started to watch in English, but sometimes I would not understand 100 % what was said. Now it’s dubbed in French on TV, so this is where I watch it now.
Congratulations on getting A/C – you definitely need it in summer.
Man my little A/C was a godsend when me and my Dad put it into the tiny junior apart that was 2 rooms in an old Victorian stone house on the top level. Worked so well and I still have it.
#500 FFHF, though! That’s something to celebrate, if you ask me! ??
Haul: Okay, so I was bad yesterday. After receiving my MAC mini order yesterday of Life In Sepia lipstick and Into Eternity iridescent powder, I then bought Natural Born Leader lipstick, Rockstarz Lipglass and the warmer of the two Electric Wonder e/s palettes, Natural Vice. Oddly, very few US or Canadian YT’ers or bloggers have reviewed this collection at all! MACah0lic did, though. And since she is my “skin twin” and very honest, I knew which products both applied nicely, as well as looked good on someone with the same coloring.
Weekend plans: Hair needs a root t/up BADLY. Might do that today, idk. Also, an update on the status of the Bad Tenant. She has been evicted and is moving out on Sunday! Now our only worry is that she will likely retaliate against either the man who she attacked with her racist incidents or whoever she believes got her evicted.
Last TV show you watched and enjoyed? I watched and *somewhat* enjoyed S8 GoT. Great acting as per usual, amazing cinematography…but far too rushed. The buildup to Dany going “Mad Queen” was far too precipitous. They ought to have used the previous 10 episodes per season format. There were ALWAYS plenty of signs that she would go OTT, though, but the audience needed a few past references to her prior questionable actions against her enemies in order to understand that this was always something that could and probably would happen.
As for something I thoroughly ENJOYED? Please don’t laugh at me, but The Rookie with Nathan Fillion (sp?)! Seeing things through the eyes of LE helped to soften my judgements just a little. The show DOES have some fairly graphic gore and very realistic violence, so watch at your own discretion. Oddly, even though these are the 2 shows I mentioned, I actually abhor violent content. The storylines being so realistic in their depictions historically (medieval) or reality (po-po) is something I am able to reason on to some degree, however.
Oh! Meant to ask you: how does Mellan like his Groot siblings? ???
You’re not bad Nancy, just giving yourself a few little treats and, let’s face it, you’ve been pretty restrained so far this year – particularly as you’ve had a lot to contend with.
Good news about the bad tenant – let’s hope that she moves far, far and far away, so that she can’t be bothered retaliating on anyone.
Enjoy playing with your new treats Nancy.
I hope that your evicted neighbor goes peacefully into the sunset! Just be hyper-vigilant. I didn’t know that Nathan Fillion has a new show on! I really loved him in Castle. I guess I didn’t know because I haven’t watched TV in so long. I may have to crank up the DVR and see if I like it. That won’t help with my thought to cancel my satellite subscription, though! I think that I am the only person in the world who wasn’t watching GOT.
I am loving the looks of Born Leader so that is on my list to pick up. I will spend some time tomorrow surfing the internet and picking up a few things. Have a good weekend. As I am typing this we are in the throws of another epic thunder and lightening storm. We are having an epic wet season with our high temperature today at 56. We are suppose to get up into the 70’s next week and I must say, I am looking forward to it. I am craving getting some flowers planted in pots for my two decks.
Deborah and Genevieve, that woman moved out today… problem is, she only moved down the street. So, we will all need to be careful around here. But, I am not one to let myself get bullied all that easily. Therefore, I have no intention on becoming a HERMIT. I will be watchful, but that’s about it.
I wish that neighbor had moved farther away from you, but at least she’s not right there. More than likely, she eventually be distracted by some other drama and leave you guys alone.
GoT was my favourite TV show up to s 7 when I thought it slipped a bit. Like you I somewhat enjoyed s 8. I can’t get over that Tyrion stopped being smart and made some odd choises. S8 was so very rushed, as if they couldn’t finish it soon enough. I think they made some very illogical decisions, and had too much happening off camera. I’m not going into any details but it was disappointing.
Helene, right? What happened to the “cleverest man in Westeros”? Where did Tyrion *go*, and who was*this*?
I like to say it was what *wasn’t* happening off-screen, if you know what I’m thinking. If certain very important things had been finished, then D&D would not have felt like they had to wing it on there own.
Melan basking in a jungle paradise! I am impressed you can grow plants. I have a totally brown thumb.
Haul: I haven’t received anything but I did use my Sephora gift card to pick up the Coy palette, Kevin Aucoin Glass Glow Face Highlighter in Crystal Clear, Farsali Rose Gold 24k Skin Mist and YSL Volupte Tint in Balm in the shade Touch Me Red. Clearly, I am into finding a nice healthy glow!
Weekend plans: I am going to have to cut the grass regardless of the weather. I have been putting it off since the weather has been so problematic with thunder and lightening. I don’t want to run the risk of getting electrocuted. My daughter came home and helped me do some work on the spring cleaning front so that is pretty much caught up. I also have started working on a scrapbook and some mixed media canvases that will document our trip to Europe.
Television shows: I am not a big TV watcher. It is strange because I use to watch TV a lot and couldn’t miss certain shows. I always had the TV on whether I was watching it or not, just to have some noise in the house. I have a satellite and have been thinking about cancelling it as I never have it on. I have so much taped and will never get around to watching it all. Overall, I don’t care for reality TV but I do love Top Chef, SYTYCD and Project Runway. They are taped but I haven’t watched any of them. I will probably watch them and then cancel.
I am not really a big TV watcher either and have never had the TV on during the day, preferring to read. We don’t have Netflix, Foxtel or any paid TV stations and don’t really miss them.
House Rules and it’s sister show The Block (on another station) are the only reality shows I like, and even then it’s just the judging time.
I hope the weather holds out for you to do the lawns, they grow so quickly the moment sunlight and rain is on them.
Enjoy your weekend Deborah.
Ugh, mowing. This spring I am having to mow every week for the first time in years because my lawn mowing guy (my son) joined the Air Force. It grows like crazy in May and June.
Coy❤?❤?! I hope you love it as much as I do!!!
We got rid of cable years ago and never missed it. I don’t watch a lot of TV, unless my back is having a really bad spell. Some days, I’m stuck on the couch more than I’d like. We kept Netflix, and got HBO Now for GoT and are keeping it for Westworld.
I got BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes palette, after being very skeptical (with bad luck in the past) that such a cheap palette could be that good but I’m so glad I did because it totally lived up to your review AND the formula/colours are right up my alley! Would have gladly paid £30 for it, 3x what I did pay.
I think the BH Foils palette was one of the best bargain buys of last year. So many current palettes have dupes in that palette, it is so worth it and the shade range is amazing. I am sure you will love it more and more.
Haul:
Viseart Petit Pro 5 (Soleil). I actually purchased this a couple months ago but I didn’t start playing until this week. It’s a knockout palette and will be a great accompaniment to the Natasha Denona Sunrise palette, which arrived yesterday. I posted today’s Soleil look on Instagram.
Cle de peau Rouge Lumineux Lip Luminizer in Dahlia. It’s a simple but beautiful formula that feels lovely on the lips. I like to use this right on top of my lipstick when I need a bit of hydration, after lunch if I don’t have time to reapply my lipstick, or by itself for a hint of color.
Weekend plans: We are on our way to Chicago as I write this. We go up to Chicago for the weekend three times a year. I am looking forward to seeing all the cosmetics I can’t see in the smaller community where I live.
TV Show: We recently finished Russian Doll and Dead to Me. Both are worth checking out. Currently we are watching Bodyguard, which my husband and I both think is very good. The body guard stars Richard Maddon, who most of you will recognize as Robb Stark from Game of Thrones. This is a different role than the one he played in GOT, and he plays it exceedingly well. I would be lying if I said it his only his acting I find appealing. He is one of the sexiest men I’ve seen in a long, long time.
I hope the weather in Chicargo isn’t too humid or hot and may you find lots and lots of gorgeous beauty treats Tammy……
The weather is PERFECT, Genevieve!
Richard Madden is a sexy man, that is for sure, LOL! Enjoy your weekend in the big city. I can’t wait to see what you buy.
Christine, you work so hard! I think I speak for all of your readers when I say your efforts and skill are seriously appreciated. Thank you.
My big recent haul is all Bite Beauty. I took advantage of their temporary sale on Amuse Bouche Lipsticks and purchased a bunch that I’ve had my eye on for a very long time, but could never justify, including Kale, Squid Ink, Virgo, Pink Salt, Radish, and Maple. I also picked up a Crystal Crème Shimmer Lip Crayon in Sugar Flower, Outburst Longwear Lip Stain in Sangria Slush, and a Prismatic Pearl Crème Lip Gloss in Peacock Pearl.
I am considering some of Colourpop’s Blush & Lite Stix, but I am waiting for your reviews and swatches first (despite temptation, this has been my default action since I graduated from my obsessive MAC days years ago). Of course then I need to check my own stash for dupes, though I know I mostly have powder products for blush and highlight.
And after that? Probably a no-buy.
My most recently watched TV show was also the Great British Baking Show, which I adore. I am not exaggerating whatsoever to say that it is literally the only program my parents and I have watched together without argument every single time. I feel like there’s a bit of anxious nervousness that comes with it – but it’s the good kind, like excitement, because I want the contestants to succeed. The hosts’ silly, punny humor has me in stitches, too.
… I’m also totally living vicariously through the show and Paul and Mary’s taste-testing. I eat a gluten-free diet (as well as lactose-free, mostly dairy-free, with many eliminations because of allergies/intolerances). My diet is also mostly grain-free and extremely light on sugar and carbs – despite my deep and abiding sweet tooth – so basically everything in the show is completely off-limits, even with GF substitutions. So yeah. Definitely gleefully torturing myself a bit.
P.S. I love how you named your plants! I’m a huge HP fan myself – my favorites characters being Hermione Granger (of course), Luna Lovegood, and Neville Longbottom.
I love Luna! I named the marble queen after her!
Haul: I found Urban Decay Sin Highlighter (which I missed out on when it was in-store at Sephora) for HALF the regular price at Winners. That’s pretty much it, except for some liquid hand soaps from Peckniff’s
Weekend plans: gym tomorrow and a bridal shower (the son of one of my best and longest duration friends is getting married and this is for his fiancee) on Sunday.
Last show I watched and enjoyed – Norsemen (Vikingane) on Netflix. Talk about hilarious. A friend recommended Lilyhammer (which has several of the same actors) but it’s becoming a bit tiresome and offensive.
I love Bridal showers (and especially Baby Showers) as they are such joyful celebrations, full of practical gifts and ideas. How lovely that you are involved in this event.
I didn’t watch Lilyhammer myself because I thought would turn out to be far too dark and gory for me.
Have an enjoyable weekend Mariella.
Have you watched Norsemen, Genevieve? A fair bit of gore in that but it’s pretty bloodless gore (but they’re Vikings, after all). I’ve heard it described as “Monty Python meets Game of Thrones”. It’s bawdy, silly, politically incorrect (they ARE Vikings, after all) but so funny.
Adorable Mellan!
Haul: Ordered Colourpop’s Peony for Your Thoughts Bundle. I’m kind of wishing I had bought a few different single shades instead of the bundle, but at least it wasn’t expensive. Also Colourpop Ariel and Cinderella Lux Lipsticks, which I’ve wanted for awhile.
Weekend plans: I have a couple parties to go to. Other than that, I’m hoping to relax a bit.
Last TV show I enjoyed: The Office (U.S.). I’ve seen every episode at least a couple times, but I still binge on it.
Beautiful plants!
Haul: Natasha Denona Sunrise palette and Tan Glow palette, Nars Conner Tingley lip sticks in Amera-hot pink and Carrera – red orange. I’d been lusting over these for a while and finally bit the bullet.
Weekend Plans: Still need to give away lots of clothes in my overcrowded closet, reading got lots of good books and magazines, carry out no cooking! , our cat has cancer and we’ve been nursing him round the clock with painkillers, CBD oil (it really helps!!) and nausea medicine. We had him since my twins were in middle school and they’ll be 27 next month! We keep him comfortable and have spent lots of money on his medicines and food. He’s so spoiled, we love him a lot!
What was the last TV show you enjoyed?: Game of Thrones was my jam! I was sorry to see it go.
So sorry about your cat 🙁
I am so sad about your kitty. How much CBD oil do you give him?
I’m so sorry about your kitty. It sounds like your taking really good care of him.
I hope your beautiful cat remains painfree, always so hard to watch them be ill. He is lucky to have such caring ‘parents’.
Thanks guys for all the kind words! We have had more time than we expected when he got diagnosed in November, our cat Blaow continues to hang in there. We normally give him around four to six drops of 1000mg CBD oil every six hours, it helps him to eat and move around better.
Haul: Nothing this week!
Rediscovery: I really do like that Too Faced Hot Flash lipstick (part of their throwback line or whatever it was called).
Weekend plans: Gotta do some more unpacking/settling in. Tired of not knowing where things are! But also going to Salt & Straw to try their camping-themed monthly flavors, and going to our favorite cidery to try their summer watermelon cider. Then we’re having friends over for a game night on Sunday — our first game night in our new place!
Last TV show I watched and enjoyed: I’m only two episodes in to Good Omens but I love it and can’t wait to watch the rest this weekend (Oh, guess I should have included that in my weekend plans).
Have a great game night in your new house AJ and I hope the evening turns out well.
Mellan is playing Hide and Seek in the plants!
Haul/Rediscoveries: nil
Weekend plans: I’ve had a migraine since yesterday, I’m hoping it will go away so I can get working on cleaning up my basement. My husband is away and our weather has turned to rain and there were some bits of snow in that rain today and it’s June! Spring/Summer in Canada eh?
What was the last TV show you watched & enjoyed?: Because my migraine meds keep me awake at night I was watching some shows I had PVR’d, The Marilyn Dennis Show and Cityline, they have fashion, beauty and cooking themes that I like.
I hope your migraine passes Brenda, there is nothing worse than a bad one that won’t go away. No spring/summer weather for you though – it must be chilly.
Hauls/ rediscoveries ~ This week I bought kaja mochi bounce highlighter in prism . I like it , it’s a pretty pink with glitter. It’s kinda small though so I’m glad I got the Sephora sale price ( 9.50) . For size it’s definitely not worth $20.. Also bought the new Charlotte Tilbury peach highlighter wand. It’s a true peach which is what I was looking for but it just sits on your skin, it doesn’t really sink it so I have to give it a C. Last I bought the Mac Aladdin crystal glaze lipgloss which is really pretty. No rediscoveries.
Weekend plans ~ none really. Hubby is working and my rotator cuff surgery is still hurting. I did get my vanity though, that I love so I will organize that and makeup so maybe I’ll make some rediscoveries! Probably just do makeup all weekend!!
Last show I watched and enjoyed ~ There are 2 shows I really enjoyed this week, Chernobyl on HBO and Good Omens on Amazon.
I hope your pain in your shoulder eases off over the weekend so that you can really play and have fun with your new vanity..
Haul:
*Ace Beaute: Oceanic Eyeshadow Palette
*ColourPop: Blue Moon Palette
*Fortune Cookie Soap: Shampoo Bars in Jellyman, PJP, and Silver Parachute (for my son); Unicorn Farts OCD Hand Sanitizer (part of the proceeds go to the International OCD Foundation); Be a Pineapple Shower Oil (GWP).
*Glambot (20% off clearance): Violet Voss Holy Grail PRO Palette; KVD Shade + Light Eye Contour and Innerstellar Palette; small Z-palette. I got the palettes for less than $25/each, and the Shade + Light one was completely unused. The other two had some shades that were slightly used. I’m happy with them.
Weekend plans: Hopefully, dye my roots and refresh my overall hair color. I need to steal my husband’s airplane blueprint off his wall and get it matted and framed for Father’s Day. It’s the cut-away of the whole plane, not any of the blueprints he’s using to build.
My son’s had a great first week of work. The downside is the bus schedule isn’t convenient that early, so I have to drive him in the mornings. Neither of us are morning people, but we’re surviving. He’s attending the intern program’s class time on Mondays to finish his end-of-year project, then he graduates from the program on the 25th.
What was the last TV show you watched & enjoyed? “Room 104” (HBO). It’s a fantasy/horror/supernatural anthology series showing different events taking place in the same hotel room through the years. I’m still working my way through season 1, but it’s promising.
How do you like the Ace Beauty Oceanic palette Rachel? I looks pretty darn good to me. Beautiful shades, especially Marina. I think all of the colours would suit you.
It is a tough one over bus schedules, having been there myself with my youngest son having to start work early and not having any direct bus routes. I was OK at getting up early, as I was accoustomed to being at work by 7 am (a former primary school teacher), but for him it was another story. It is amazing what they can do when they are motivated.
I wish him well on finishing his project on time and look forward to hearing about his graduation.
I just got Oceanic a few days ago, so I haven’t tried it on my eyes yet. I spent the last few days playing with Blue Moon. If my eye allergies stay at bay a bit longer, I’ll try it out this week. It’s utterly gorgeous in person. My husband was even saying how much he liked the colors, and he rarely does that.
It swatches beautifully, with rich color and creamy feel to the shadows. They blended really well on my hand without primer. The two exceptions are Blue Clam (cobalt): A little harder to blend out, but not awful by any means. Bali (light periwinkle): Very light and slightly drier, but even pigmentation that can be built up, and it blends nicely.
I will let you know how my son’s graduation goes. Thanks for asking. He’s doing an amazing job getting up on time. He’s working breakfast shift bussing trays for their buffet to start, but his boss has already asked if he’d like extra hours helping with banquets. The program has a job coach for him on his shifts, and she thinks he’ll move up quickly.
Curious Mellon, checking out what’s new.
Haul: nothing really this week, just some Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion, which I use on my body during winter to prevent dry skin.
Rediscoveries: Pulling out my Stila In the Garden palette to use this week. It has some lovely sage and taupe shades that I like.
Weekend Plans: It’s a Long Weekend here in Aus. (Queens Birthday Weekend, strange because QE11’s actual birthday is April 21st), but everyone loves a long weekend. The weather prediction is for cool and sunny, which is much nicer than freezing and rainy. Melbourne has lovely winter days.
Friday – Lachlan over and lots of park time….
Saturday – Shopping, cleaning and laundry. Probably some babysitting tonight.
Sunday – Sunday lunch out in the hills/mountains and relax.
Monday – relaxing, doing absolutely nothing other than reading and catching up on favourite TV shows.
TV shows watched and enjoyed: I am liking this season’s House Rules, where contestants rennovate each other’s homes, according to the home owners House Rules, and they are rated by judges and the home owners. Some really lovely designs.
Haul/Rediscoveries:
Viseart Soleil palette, some skincare.
I haven’t reported a haul in a very long time, and then I have so little to write down but it is an attempt at a low buy year. It’s going so so. I do find myself buying makeup I don’t really need, but I don’t buy as much as I used to.
Weekend plans:
I need to work in the garden. I managed to mow the lawn, but the grass was too long to go into the whatever it’s called that gathers it up, so I have to do that myself and it’s not one of my fav occupations. I also need to plant some vegetables and generally just fix things in the garden. If it rains I have so much cleaning to do as I’ve not felt up to do it for some time, not that long, but with two dogs it get’s dirty quickly. I also need to groom them, but that can wait a bit.
What was the last TV show you watched & enjoyed?:
Well, there was GoT, of course, but I didn’t love the last season other than that I’m trying some other shows, but am undecided. I am going to watch Chernobyl on HBO next. It’s just 5 episodes and when my son comes here over the summer we’re going to continue watching Supernatural.
Mellan looks lovely among the plants. My dogs are healthy and well taken cared of, my plants on the other hand could use a lot of TLC.
Haul/Rediscoveries: Nothing this week.
Weekend plans: Ran errands yesterday, worked all day, probably laundry tomorrow.
What was the last TV show you watched & enjoyed?: Most recently it was Whiskey Cavalier. I’m still mad that it was canceled!
Haul: I finally ordered the Becca Berlin Girl highlighter, like almost a year after it came out. I’d just assumed I’d missed the boat on that one and it’d sold out, but I was browsing on Becca’s website and saw it. It let me check out and everything, so I’m going to assume it was actually in stock and that wasn’t a mistake. In non-makeup stuff, I preordered the new Sims 4 expansion pack because I’m a big old dork who loves the Sims.
Weekend Plans: Last night, I went to see the American Ballet Theater perform Jane Eyre. I get a 6-show series of tickets every year for my birthday, so my weekend plans for May/June/July are always that.
What was the last TV show you watched and enjoyed? I finally got an HBO Now subscription, so I just watched all of Chernobyl, which I quite liked. I’m a loyal Brooklyn 99 watcher, so that’s an obvious answer too!
