- Haul/Rediscoveries: Anastasia spring launches, Charlotte Tilbury The Icon, Benefit Hoola Caramel/Toasted
- Weekend plans: Gearing up for more chaos next week, and fingers crossed, there’ll be a reprieve by the close of next week…
- Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup!)?: I don’t actively collect anything these days! It’s actually a type of behavior I’ve consciously curbed over the years as I don’t think I’ve collected anything that’s really “of value” – just more materialistic, very short-lived joy.

Haul: I’m actually ashamed to list these (since I’m supposed to be on a low buy this year)…
– A couple of Smith Cosmetics eye brushes (I’m so excited for these because this will be my first high end brush purchase. I hope they live up to the hype)
– CT Eyes to Mesmerize cream eyeshadow in Marie Antoinette (thought it would be really nice for days that I don’t want to think about what to wear on my eyes)
– ND Bloom and Darya palettes (I am UNBELIEVABLY excited for these)
– Tom Ford Lip Color in Casablanca (I got a mini as a perk/coupon code and as it turns out it’s my perfect nude that I’ve wanted for forever so I got the full size exorbitantly prized one)
– Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fu$$y
– Marc Jacobs Steel(etto) eyeshadow palette
– Stila Little White Lies Liquid eyeshadows in Peach Pretense, Fuchsia Fiction, and Mint Myth
– Flower Beauty Blush Bomb in Bubbly
I can’t believe I’ve bought this much in such a short time, but circumstances just worked out that way and I honestly don’t know that I’ll buy much more this year. This was a good bunch of things that I’ve been wanting for a while and my make up collection feels refreshed and I also know that I’ll be able to let some things go from my collection to keep it balanced.
Rediscoveries:
– Viseart Libertine palette – I forgot how much I love this palette for some bold colorful looks. I need to remind myself to really take my time with this palette because although it’s not BAM! pigmented, the vivid colors need to be built up slowly.
– Hourglass blush in Mood Exposure. So lovely. I’ve been steering away from powder blushes lately in favor of liquid/cream blushes, but this is one of the few powder blushes that doesn’t make my face look dry and powdery.
Weekend plans: None to speak of! Probably trying to get out of the house for a little bit with my son since my husband has to work all weekend.
Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup!)?: I do! I am a video game player and collect all of the Lego games. I’ve also been collecting the monthly Disney Wisdom series (plushes, pins and coffee mugs). And (I don’t know if this is considered a collection or not) I have a collection of red shoes. If I see a beautiful red shoe, I must have it.
Hi Celesta, I have a number of Smith eye brushes and I love them (even purchased a second of the two brushes I use regularly). I also have CT’s Marie Antoinette cream shadow and I wear it regularly. Your purchases sound lovely. Hope you enjoy them all!
Celesta,
What a fantastic haul! I think you will love the brushes, CT cream shadow, ND palettes, and Marc Jacobs Steel(Letto) palette.
You don’t have to apologize for buying cosmetics. Embrace your new purchases and enjoy them without guilt?
Celesta, I am sure you will love your new purchases and sometimes it like that with either clothes or makeup. I can see nothing I like for ages, and then suddenly I end up buying quite a few items because they suit my colouring, style and are on sale.
Haul: nothing.
Rediscoveries: Melt’s Gemini Palette, Nicole Guerriero ABH Glow Kit
Weekend Plans: I’m going to see Captain Marvel with friends tonight. I have to work Saturday evening, so I’ll try to sleep in a little and hopefully I can hit the gym beforehand. Sunday, I’m going to a pole party at the studio. It will be fun.
Do you collect anything that’s non-makeup related: umm… does fitness gear count, lol. I’m not trying to collect it, but I do like to workout and I end up getting caught up in purchasing the new fad. I have so many BeachBody video sets (if you’re looking into anything by them, get anything by Shaun T, he’s great), I have two glute training machine (BootySprout, the first one arrived damaged, it’s still usable but for the amount of money I paid, I needed one that was in perfect condition), an inversion trainer (FeetUp), bands (for the pole, for strength training, for glute training, etc.), a few hand weights, yoga blocks, multiple dance poles, a crash mat (in case I fall off the pole), etc. I really want a Peloton bike, but I cannot afford it in any way, shape, or form. Plus, even if I could afford it, I honestly don’t know where I would put it. I don’t have a living room, I have a workout space b/c it’s all residing there. The sad part is, I don’t use any of it nearly enough. I’m always at the studio or I go to a regular gym. It’s a sickness and I’m a mess, lol.
Jessica,
I do not collect fitness gear; however, I really want a Peleton bike. I was looking at them before I read your haul yesterday. I started outdoor cycling in 2000, and moved to indoor cycling in 2006 after having a bike accident. Now I struggle to wrap up at work and make it to the gym in time for my RPM classes, to the point where I am often missing one spin session a week. I’ve always been self-motivated to work out, so I don’t need a
class for accountability. I’m seriously considering this.
Accountability isn’t my issue either. I really enjoy working out… as long as I keep working out, lol. Staying in it is easy, but trying to start back up is hard, lol.
But apparently the internet stalkers know of this conversation b/c I’m now getting ads for Peloton bikes, lol. From the ads, I see you can get financed and get a bike for $58/mo (for 39 months) with no money down and 0% apr. If you are really interested in the bike, I would look into that. I’m just going to keep going to the gym, lol.
That sucks about your bike accident, but I’m glad you’re okay.
Haul – I was waiting for the glossier play stuff to come out to make an order as I’ve been wanting to purchase the perfume for some time- I ended up skipping the new stuff for now and just picking up the perfume and skin tint.
Weekend Plans – Going to start going through Khan academy’s lsat prep videos as an introduction to the material and see what happens. I’m excited!
Do I collect anything? – Definitely rocks. My husband and I both studied geology and we tend to find cool stuff wherever we go that we have trouble parting with. Also art of various types – Another good weekend project would be for me to finally get everything I have framed and on my walls to enjoy!
You really do need to prep for the LSATs. I did not prep the first time I took the LSAT and scored dismally. I prepped before taking the test a second time and scored well enough to get into the school I wanted to attend. Good luck!
Haul: No makeup, I actually destashed a huge bin of stuff! I bought a new skirt and a paper fan from Sourpuss 15% off sale with the money.
Weekend plans: I had a biopsy yesterday so I’ll be taking it easy for a few days. Probably a lot of movie watching on the sofa.
Do you collect anything: Yep! I collect the Star Trek Hallmark ornaments and have them displayed on a shelf in my dining room (my kitchen & dining room are Star Trek themed).
Fingers crossed for a good biopsy result!
I hope your biopsy results are positive ones Alice. My two sons, myself and my twin sister are Star Trek mad and we have lots of things from them too. Just loved that series.
Haul/Rediscoveries: Chantecaille’s Polar Ice collection (eyeshadow palette and 3 lipsticks; I might get the nail polishes later on), tarte’s High Tides and Good Times eyeshadow palette, Ciate’s Jessica Rabbit lipstick, and a random Sephora lipstick from the clearance section ($7 for a cheap thrill isn’t a bad thing!). Also I hauled some Thrive Causemetics from their permanent line; I’ve never tried the brand before and I’m curious–I guess the persistently repeating FB ads finally sucked me in.
Weekend plans: Groceries. Oil change. #adulting
Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup!)?: Not really. Anything that’s not spent on dogs or going out to eat with friends/being social is spent on makeup, hahaha!
Late to the party but finally placed an order for Cheers to the Beauty palette from Coloured Raine and used your discount code. Thank you! Woot! Woot! At 15 USD and change, I just had to have it!
Isn’t creepy looking when furbabies sleep with there eyes partially open like dear Mellan? My kitty Scunci does this, too. And it just looks so freaky!
Haul: Went back to Sephora last week after posting my haul, and bought Smashbox Punked Cover Shot. Never imagined such cool-toned e/s’s would look as lovely as this set did! Much better UD Naked Smoky ever did.
Hit MAC last night and bought Framboise Moi Lipstick and Cherry Mochi Lipglass. Perfect combo!
Exchanged UD Ravenswood for Crisis because of finding out I already owned FIVE dupes for Ravenswood! Today feels perfect for wearing Smashbox Punked with UD Crisis lipstick and Rapture blush….?
Weekend plans: Just doing hair and nails, meeting on Sunday. Find energy, which is on short supply these days, to pop in a load of laundry. Unfortunately, it’s a mega-load of black and other dark clothing. So I’m having a case of the sads that many of my favorite pieces of clothing have been out of commission for over a week.
Do you collect anything (NOT makeup related)? CLOTHING and SHOES! And not on purpose actually. I’m in dire need of a Marie Kondo intervention in my 2 closets because it’s gotten to be ridiculous. Cannot even make my way to the back of the large walk-in “storage overflow” closet without tripping over everything.
Nancy, I got Punked quite a few months ago (after being really pleased with Minimalist). Both are really wonderful palettes and I like that Punked is more subdued (rather than “wowie, zowie, in your face”) purples.
I have the same closet problems. I have two walk-in closets that are hard to walk into! A friend recommended Marie Kondo’s show, but I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. Maybe this weekend.
Nancy,
Haha, I’ve been flirting with the idea of going Marie Condo on my closets all week but I honestly don’t think I can do it. I will hit the clothing today and try to retire a few things. Imagine going Marie Condo on our makeup collections, lol. ?
Haul: Viseart Soleil & Apricotine, Natasha Denona Blush and Glow and the mini pink diamond palettes, a back up of the Good Molecule peptide serum, BH Cosmetics Opalescent, Hanging in Hawaii & Love in London eyeshadow palettes, a Nabla fan brush, Makeup Revolution Shook e/s palette, Star primer and a mascara, Tony Moly tangerine hand cream, 14 eyeshadows, 2 blush and a pressed highlighter from Sydney Grace (which is yet to arrive!)… oh and a couple more lippie balms, the Creme de la Creme highlight quad, 2 lippie pencils and one of the new Juicy glosses from Colourpop.
Weekend plans: Absolutely nothing. If I can spend the entire weekend in either my pajamas or dressing gown, I’ll consider it a success 😉
Collect things: Nah, not really. I like Mason & Cash crockery and will pick up things here and there to add to my collection but there’s no intent behind it really. Though my husband would probably disagree after I bought the cats matching Mason & Cash food bowls…
Dang, CeeBee, NICE HAUL! Those Viseart and ND products are like a spring bouquet?
Wow CeeBee, you have been busy in the makeup dept! Lovely choices and I am sure you will enjoy them.
Mellan is so cute. No I have never had a pet that slept with his eyes open or partially open, however, as a nurse I use to see patients sleeping with their eyes open and since I worked night shift most of my career, it was freaky going into the room and thinking they were awake but they were sleeping. Looked really creepy by flashlight!
Haul: Nothing this week. I got the Huda palette last week and of course, ColourPop releases a palette that is pretty much the same and likely to be better quality. Go figure! I have nothing on the horizon as far as purchases but I am starting my list for the Sephora Spring sale so likely to do some serious damage then. I am organizing and getting ready to do another declutter. I have so many foundations that I don’t use so while I hate to throw money away, there is no point in keeping them sitting in a closet. Some have not been touched in years.
Weekend plans: Nothing much except shoveling snow. We were suppose to have a sunny day today with only a 20% chance of precipitation but it is snowing like crazy outside as I type this. The good news is that even for Montana, the end is in sight. A couple of weeks and everything will be over for this winter. You can tell because the bulbs are out in the little store where I pick up incidentals. It is always a cheery sight.
Collect anything: I have a couple of collections. I have been collecting Cranberry glass for about 50 years. Yes, I did start when I was in my mid-teens. I also collect a particular pattern of glass. Quick little explanation here, everyone is pretty familiar with the term depression glass. Or at least you are if you live in the U.S. Depression glass was produced during the depression era here in the U.S. and was generally given away one piece at a time in laundry soap, oatmeal, etc. There were many different patterns and colours. During that same time frame, high end glass makers like Tiffen, Fostoria, Cambridge, etc were also producing glass. I collect a pattern from Fostoria that is called Sunray. Definitely not the prettiest pattern but I have service for 12 with all of the “additional” pieces. They made nut cups, individual ash trays, pudding cups, oyster cups, etc The list goes on and on. In all my years of collecting it I have only ever seen one soup bowl. I also love hand painted porcelain, having quite a lot of Limoge. My daughter doesn’t like any of it so I will probably start dismantling the collection in a few years time just to save her the hassle of having to deal with it when I am gone. The sad thing is that you never actually recoup the amount you spent when you sell it. I have enjoyed it though so that counts for something. Oh, and I use all my things. I broke a beautiful Limoge platter a couple of years ago and my ex-husband couldn’t understand why I wasn’t devastated. I told him they were meant to be used. I am careful but if something breaks, well it breaks.
On the flip side we were supposed to get snow but nary a flake. North of Calgary up to Edmonton they were not as lucky. Now, my luck it will all come tonight and bury us.
Deborah,
What’s on your Sephora spring sale list? Curious minds want to know. I seriously have only three things on my list. I am failing, lol
Hi Tammy,
First of all, I need to replenish some of my skin care. I have been rationing for awhile to get me through! Just using less of it as I tend to just tip the bottle up and pour and then slather it everywhere so I am trying to be better about just using what I really need. I have limited myself to two palettes this year and already purchased the Huda Emerald palette and my experience with purchasing that has led me to be cautious about where I spend my second palette. It will be my luck that as soon as I buy another one Pat McGrath will release some absolutely, must have, drop dead gorgeous palette, LOL!. I am leaning towards the Viseart Coy palette so that is on my list to check out. I have to replenish a couple of fragrances, Tainted Love being the most important one. Love the background smoky tobacco scent.
I want to pick up Tom Ford lipstick in Liev but am hesitant to wait as it is limited edition but my new philosophy is that if it isn’t available when I am ready to buy it then it wasn’t meant to be. I am also getting low on my Guerlain meteorites in my everyday shade, Claire. I have a couple of other lipsticks on my list so will check those out also.
One of my girlfriends is into collecting depression glassware too. It is quite pretty and unique. I am sure you could sell them as a set when you come to depart from them.
Haul: for myself, just 2 Sephora eyeshadows (Cup of Coffee, which is fabulous, and Glazed Donut); for my daughter (whose birthday is coming) Living Proof Perfect Day In Shower Styler and Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick in It Girl (it’s more than she’d spend for a lipstick but she loved the colour and so I was happy to spoil her a bit). Because there was a Rouge event, I got a quite nice looking makeup bag – the fabric looks very much like many of the wool boucle fabrics Chanel uses – filled with some really nice, decent sized sample and they also threw in for each of us a travel size of the Boscia cleanser that I use anyway!
Weekend plans: gym, hot yoga, making some Hungarian Mushroom soup to freeze for lunches and on Sunday, I’m going to lunch with a good friend at the golf club near our house.
What do I collect: cookbooks, fabric for clothing construction and I love serving pieces shaped like fruits and vegetables (my kids all joke and say “in your will, leave it to my siblings”) – I’ve a lovely serving piece that looks just like a romaine lettuce leaf, a teapot that looks like a pumpkin, complete with trailing vines and a leaf, covered dishes that are great for dips or sauces and are in the shapes of an onion and an eggplant. They’re a joke among my family, as I say, but get a real kick out of them.
I think the pumpkin teapot sounds pretty awesome. 🙂
I don’t blame your daughter for loving the color of It Girl. It’s gorgeous.
Lovely eyeshadows Mariella, I just looked them up. These are really everyday, wearable shades.
Hungarian Mushroom soup sounds yummy and I think you are a great cook.
Enjoy your Sunday lunch too.
Mellan looks comfortable with his head hanging off his pillow.
Haul: I broke down and brought Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry perfume using some of my Nordstrom notes. I really like it just wished it lasted longer, strangely it lasts a long time in my hair and clothes. Wish they’d make a body cream in this scent to layer with. From Neimen Marcus with $50 off $200 I brought By Killian’s Black to Black perfume refill kit. From Color Pop I brought the Pink and Purple eye shadow palettes and love them both! Now I want the new green Colour Pop eye shadow palette, lol
Weekend Plans: Pack for a upcoming trip to my home city. House organizing since my son is bringing home his girlfriend to visit from Boston. Have to put away storage bins in my guest room.
Do you collect anything that’s non makeup related? : Perfumes and I have a lot that I’ve collected through the years. I really love perfume!!
In the beauty department we always sprayed our fragrance in the air and walked into the cloud of fragrance. I recently gave my granddaughter a shirt I hadn’t worn in over a year and as soon as she put it on, she exclaimed, “It smells like Grandma!” ❤️
My granddaughter says that too Tammy – all my clothes in my wardrobe have different scents to them. Just love perfume in my clothes.
I am a perfume collector too – just love new scents as well.
My dog does that, too! It’s a little disconcerting.
Haul: I have been weeding out my stash and decided to get rid of a bunch of MAC eyeshadows that I haven’t used in more than 10 years. I was able to do a Back-to-MAC today, which means I got a new lipstick and still stuck to my no-buy! So I picked up the new Soar lipstick. I know I said I wasn’t going to buy Soar in a previous post, but I just couldn’t resist getting the lipstick with the same name as my all-time favorite lip pencil.
Weekend Plans: Still caring for our sick dog, but he’s acting like he feels a lot better. Will get new test results next week.
Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup)? I have pretty big collections of shoes, scarves, books, perfume, tarot cards, and silver jewelry.
I am pleased to hear that your doggy is getting better and hopefully his test results will show an improvement. It has taken awhile for him to feel well. Best wishes Seraphine.
Haul:
Weleda Skin Food (Light): I heard this was good for skin recovery and wanted to give it a try. My skin is struggling more this winter than ever before. I’ve had to back off from Retin A and my glycolic acid. The Weleda feels like it definitely creates a barrier between my skin in the world, but it doesn’t provide hydration. I have to layer several hydrating products underneath it.
Sephora #57 Airbrush: I have wanted this for several months but held off because concealer brushes never seem to work for me. Part of it is my age: concealer itself generally doesn’t work for me, so why would a brush change the outcome? But I have been using the brush for two weeks with good results. I am just waiting to have another bad concealer day, so I can go back to my position that concealer doesn’t work for me.
Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip Shine Set. This was so pretty and got great reviews so I picked it up as an Easter present for my granddaughter.
Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara: I am thinking ahead to being able to wear eye makeup again after I see the eye doctor on March 14. This is one of the highest rated tubing mascaras on the market, and I will only wear tubing mascaras now because they are less difficult to remove.
Rediscoveries: Since I have been unable to wear eye makeup, I am definitely paying closer attention to everything else. I know I only purchased the La Mer Cushion Foundation a month ago, but I really like this foundation. I have the Soft Fluid Foundation, which looks really nice on me when it works, but like nearly every other foundation I own, it flakes on me. I know they say flaking is caused by silicones in skincare but I don’t use skincare with silicones in it. I’ve eliminated silicones, used primers, skipped primers, used brushes/sponges/hands for application, exfoliated before use, etc. Everything flakes. And on the days I skip foundation (Saturday and Sunday), my skin is not flaky. But this one hasn’t flaked on me. I love that it’s radiant and yet doesn’t cause my combo skin to get excessively shiny. I love that it’s got solid coverage but I can sheer it out to look like skin. Still holding my breath, waiting to see flaking foundation at lunchtime. Maybe this one will finally be the foundation that doesn’t flake.
Other rediscoveries:
I saw Elle Leary do a whole face with just one of the Hourglass 6-Pan palettes, and I’ve been loving doing the same with mine. After foundation I set with the skin color shades, contour cheeks and eye crease with the bronzer (I can wear eyeshadow in the crease of my eye, I just can’t wear shadow on my lid and mascara), mix the two blush-like colors together and apply to my cheeks, and then use the highlight color on the high planes of my cheeks, brow bones, and Cupid’s bow. It all melds together into this lovely radiance.
I have been enjoying using some of my favorite richer, more autumnal lipsticks to create brighter spring lip looks. This week I crushed hard on a combination of MAC Fire Roasted (I left it on my lips for about 20 minutes and then blotted the lipstick, leaving behind a stain) topped with Bareminerals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor in Bravado (a plummy red on me), and then I dabbed a sparkly pink gloss in the middle. So pretty! Today I used Bite Beauty Virgo (cool, intense red) to stain my lips, topped with Estée Lauder’s Pure Color Envy in Powerful (very pigmented cool candy pink), and a touch of sparkling pink gloss. I get better spring colors when I mix my intense lip colors with the bright spring colors. My lips and complexion need the depth of the darker shades to prevent the light colors from turning into garish cotton candy on my face.
Weekend plans: Zoe cat to the vet for annual checkups and shots, steak dinner and season one of the Handmaid’s Tale, reading Inheritance as part of the book club for Happiness with Gretchen Rubin (one of my favorite podcasts), cooking meals for the week ahead, RPM class and weight-lifting, and putting away my winter wardrobe.
Collections: I try really hard not to collect anything. My one exception is Christmas ornaments: Throughout the years my children have given me unique Christmas ornaments as Christmas gifts. They don’t do it every year, but every now and then they will. These are priceless to me, and I love hearing my oldest granddaughter now gush about her favorites as she helps me decorate my Christmas tree every thanksgiving.
It’s interesting that your skin has started to flake now and perhaps it is a hydration effect too. And it’s a nuisance if your previously worked foundations don’t work any more.
I always love autumnal lipsticks – they suit me so well. The shades you have mentioned are gorgeous.
Enjoy your weekend and I hope Zoe passes her medical really well.
Hi Christine! I am winding down a fabulous week in Scottsdale. The weather has been fantastic! (raining off and on all week in Cali) The desert landscape is so beautiful. There are new restaurants to try each time I come.
Your shopping is superb here. I have indulged in new Tacha Dewy cream, MJB Steeletto, PML mascara, BB crushed glosses, and a couple new designer handbags in honor of women’s day.
On top of all that , it is still the middle of Spring Training– gorgeous men everywhere.
I am a collector of fiesta ware, vintage compacts, and vintage stained glass windows.
Gorgeous men❤️❤️❤️
(Not much of that here in the Midwest…)
Haul/Rediscoveries: No purchases. I have a small z-palette that holds nine standard round singles and regularly rearrange it with singles from my collection to create my own little palettes, either with color stories of my own imagining, or mimicking professional palettes. Last night I built a little palette to mimic the new Coloured Rain green and bronze palette, during which I did rediscover several colors that haven’t gotten used in awhile. I haven’t used it yet but it looks really pretty and I’m excited to try this combo. (I can’t remember exactly what’s in it right now, except MAC Expensive Pink and Coppering, both of which I theoretically really like but haven’t used in ages.)
Weekend plans: Errands, housework, sleeping. No real plans, which is FINE.
Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup!)?: Books. :/ I have way more than I have time to read. I don’t really like tchotchkes.
Can’t say i’ve seen any animal sleep with their eyes open, wish I could sleep like that though!
Haul/Rediscoveries: Olehenriksen Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner, Kaja Heart Melter Lip Gloss Stick in Be Mine, Dr. Brandt Moisturizing Neck Cream, Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel, and Pacific Lime Atelier Cologne, I didn’t mean to buy so much at the Rouge Event. When I break a no-buy I do it in style, but most of it was skin care really!
Weekend plans: I hope to sleeeeeep!
Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup!)?: I collect my tickets from concerts that I go to. I am going to make a collage and put our pictures from the concerts amongst the tickets, music is my jam.
I did buy the tarte high tides and good vibes. Also got a Sonia kashuk brush set(don’t have a lot)
Weekend plans working like every weekend :(..
Dont collect anything but I do have a big book movie and music collection
Haul: Coloured Raine Safari palette (my second makeup purchase of 2019). As far as other things go, my shoes for my wedding FINALLY arrived (the company sent me the completely wrong pair/color the first time), I have a little slacks/blazer set coming in the mail on Monday, and just a few days ago I received my order for some D&D starting materials. I’m going to try to set up my first campaign! I’ve always been really into nerdy RPG and/or fantasy stuff, but didn’t start to get into D&D until a few months ago. I listened to one short podcast of a campaign, and now I’ve started a MUCH longer one (first one was 8 eps./~1 hr. each, this one is 115 eps./2.5-4 hrs. each).
Rediscoveries: Makeup in general LOL. I’ve hardly worn any makeup in the last few months, and wore it again the other night to go out to eat with my fiancé.
Weekend plans: I’m just finishing up Spring Break here at my university. This weekend I’m going to take my first practice GRE (pray for me) and probably spend time with my fiancé and his family.
Do I collect anything besides makeup: Books! I used to do so much, much more, but makeup has absorbed most of my spending in the last few years. Hopefully with my shift away from buying makeup I will pick up healthier buying habits (or at least go back to buying books). I also used to collect Avengers/X-Men movies, but stopped around Guardians of the Galaxy and Days of Future Past.
Praying ?
I know that dozy look Mellon – Lachlan has it when he is trying to tell me he doesn’t need a sleep!
Haul: Nada this week
Rediscoveries: Clarins Jolie Rouge Spicy Cinnamon lipstick – it’s more of a russet-pumpkin colour that a browny red. Very nice.
Weekend Plans: It has been a hectic week in our household.
Friday – we had Lachlan over and went out to lunch with him at a hotel overlooking the Puffing Billy track, which he loves. He had big sleep and ended up staying for dinner and beyond.
Saturday: I was asked to be a model for the forthcoming Autumn collection of Taking Shape, a major retailer for those from sizes 12 -24. However it was on the other side of town, so I had to get up early to get there on time. It was great to try on and model different outfits, although I felt they weren’t for me, as I am a more formal dresser. The retailer has a huge outlet and boutique and because I modelled, I received a voucher for $100 and half price on selected clothing. I did get a top in greens.
Sunday – just housework, and lots and lots of laundry.
Collections: The only thing I really do collect is perfumes and once upon a time, I bought a lot of books. But now I just use the local library. Other than that -no. I am not a shoe, handbag or even jewelry collector.
It must’ve been fun to model those clothes! I used to love and wear formal clothes, but anymore if it’s the weekend you will see me in jeans, t-shirt and hoodie. There are just too many ways to ruin my nice clothes—cooking, cleaning, cats, children.
It was fun to model the clothes, especially as I was able to fit into a size 14 pair of jeans (coming from Size 22), so I have lost a lot of weight.
I have to say I don’t own a pair of jeans or t-shirs or a hoodie at all. I do have older clothes that I wear when cleaning, but otherwise I do stick to a formal line of dressing.
I was a bit disappointed with what the brand had to offer in terms of autumnal clothing, as it was all pretty casual – I would have liked to have seen more dressier tops etc. as the brand does do these. But that’s just me being fussy.
Cinnamon is a gorgeous lipstick. I can see it really suiting your coloring.
How fun to be a model for a day!
Cinnamon is my very best, all time lipstick shade and whenever a brand brings one out, as long as it’s creamy and non matte, I will probably buy it. It so does suit me.
It was fun being the model and the gift voucher will come in handy too. I am not a fan of casual wear, but some of their tops are very creative and colourful, so I hope that future collections will have what appeals to me.
Haul – CP Just My Luck palette.
Weekend plans – Knitting and maybe cross stitching. Otherwise, I don’t have any plans!
Do you collect anything that’s non-makeup – My yarn stash might count as a collection since I’ll probably never knit every single skein. As far as actual collecting goes, I have a small collection of Funk Pops!
Haul: Charlotte Tilbury Latex Love Lipgloss in Dirty Dancer. I really enjoy the opaque, vinyl look of this lipgloss and the shade is beautiful but the noticeable perfume scent and taste on the lips is off-putting. The suspected culprit is patchouli oil. I won’t be buying more because of the scent/taste.
Weekend Plans: Doing taxes, going to the symphony, and catch up on some shows.
Collector? Not really though I have some sports merchandise that has special meaning to me.
Tracey, I’m glad you shared about the fragrance in the CT latex lipgloss. I was a little curious but patchouli oil on my lips would nauseate me. There has been a fragrance in some of the Bite Beauty products in the past year or so that really upsets my stomach. It’s like perfume in my mouth. Yuk.
Haul/Rediscoveries: This week nothing, really.
Weekend plans: Worked all day and got groceries today, undefined relaxation (probably involving an SVU marathon at some point) tomorrow, errands Sunday.
Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup!)?: I have a huge doll collection-a few porcelains and a few American Girls, but mostly Barbie and similarly-sized dolls. Like Brenda C, I also collect my old concert tickets-I have no plans to make art from mine like she’s doing, but I keep them in a small gift box covered in cute cartoon cat wrapping paper.
Haul/Rediscoveries: I rediscovered my Selene highlighter from Aromaleigh — honestly, I had a phase where I got a lot of highlighters, but wasn’t wearing much (if any) highlighter, and now that I’ve made it a regular part of my routine, I’m kind of rediscovering *ALL* my highlighters (the majority of which are Aromaleigh). I hauled The Tribal palette from Juvia’s place (stunning colors and great pigmentation!), as well as the Empress Yoko lip duo (I avoid matte liquid lipsticks for the most part, but the color of this one really called to me). Non-makeup-wise, I got two new perfumes (I mix my own perfume oils, but I do also occasionally wear that in combination with off-the-shelf scents): Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil and Pomelo Paradis.
Weekend plans: Captain Marvel! Also, planting some bulbs, and hopefully a bunch of reading.
Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup!)?: Art compilation books, almost entirely about current artists, and often their sketchbooks, or compilation books that are heavily sketch-based. These are mostly fantasy artists, and a lot are self-published.
Haul/Rediscoveries: From the last 2.5 weeks (sorry for the long list!)

Weekend plans: We’re celebrating my brother’s birthday today. My son and his roommate are moving into a new apartment, so we just picked up his cat to keep with us during the move. We’ll be helping him with some packing this weekend.
Do you collect anything (that’s non-makeup!)? Fantasy items, especially unicorns; books; anything Alice in Wonderland; adult coloring books; earrings; and playing cards. I don’t have room to add to them very often, which is probably a good thing!
I really need to do another weeding of my books. My eyes are too bad to read the print, so I use my Kindle. There will be a lot I’ll never be able to give up, though!

Happy Birthday to your brother Rachel, I hope he has a lovely day.
You’ll be busy this weekend with the move – hopefully they don’t have too much stash/junk/items….
That’s a lovely stash you’ve hauled there too – I think Kauai contains beautiful shades that will work well on you.
Thanks! He had a nice birthday. He’s pretty laid-back, but we got him a chocolate fudge cake and made him chicken enchiladas. We banned him from doing any chores that day.
Mariella had mentioned the purple in Kauai being really good, so I had to snag that duo at the heavy discount. I’m guessing it’s the older formulation.
Aaric and his roommate don’t have a lot of junk, fortunately. Aaric has a bed, clothes, computer, and some video game collectibles. We didn’t end up moving any stuff this weekend. They’re going to do most of tomorrow. My hubby lent them his pick-up truck. Hubby, younger son, and my brother will help them move beds and furniture. I don’t know what all the roommate’s fiance has, but she’s packing her own stuff and taking it in her car, except for her bed.
