Fraiser is one of my favorite shows of all time! My husband was not really into it before he met me but now it’s one of our go-to’s!
•Haul/Rediscoveries: Natasha Denona Darya palette! I’ve yet to try it but I plan on wearing it this weekend.
•Weekend plans: Tomorrow morning my husband and I will go Funko Pop hunting before we run some errands and then just gaming all weekend! Actually that’s all my plans ever are LOL
•What was the last TV show you binge watched?: Recently binge watched Breaking Bad for the third time! Seriously cannot get enough of that show.
I loved Breaking Bad, too. I didn’t watch it when it was actually on, but a couple years later I binged-watched the entire series in about two weeks! Do you also watch Better Call Saul?
My, what big teeth he has!
*Haul – NYX Machinist Lipsticks from their Steam Punk collection in Metallic Bronze (dark brown with red shimmer) and Honey Bronze ( yellow brown with gold shimmer, love! nice packaging too), Too Faced Frutti Tutti Lip Glaze in Yummy Rummy ( has tons of OTT gold glitter, but looks good on me, don’t care for the scent/taste but it dissipates after a while)
*Weekend – work (boo)
*Nothing –too busy to do binge-watch, bummer
What beautiful white teeth you have, Mellan!
Colourpop Haul: I received the Disney It’s a Princess Thing eye palette yesterday and it’s so pretty! I’ll get a lot of use out of many of the shades and it’s definitely coming with me the next time I go on a Disney trip! I also got the Good Sport eye palette. I have no idea what I’m going to do with it yet because it’s a little out of my comfort zone. I bought it because I needed to spend another $10 to avoid shipping charges (and the 80s vibe drew me in). I’d rather pay a little more and get something than waste $5 on shipping. That makes some kind of sense, right? 😀
Drugstore Haul: NYX lip liners in Purple Rain, Mahogany, and Bloom
Rediscoveries: Guerlain Rouge G #06, which I had bought when it came out earlier this year, and then totally forgotten about somehow. It’s gorgeous and needs to spend more time on my lips in the future!
Weekend Plans: Going to “Blessing of the Animals” at church, where people bring their pets for blessings. I’ve never done this before, but it I’ve heard it’s fun and a bit chaotic! How could a building full of beloved pets be anything but fun? Also, family, chores, relaxing, and watching the season premiere of The Walking Dead. (Also looking forward to the Better Caul Saul finale on Monday!)
What was the last TV show you binge-watched? I watched episode-after episode of both The Office (American) and Pride & Prejudice (BBC 1995) during the past week.
????:
I got my October manicure done. Halloween and my birthday month, so I got black cream with super-sparkly red tips that fade into the black. The manicurist shook the NexGen powder onto my nails with a brush, alternating colors and dong three layers, so there’s a lot of depth and some red sparkle peeking through the black in the middle of the nails. I absolutely love them!
*Sephora — Bite Beauty birthday gift
*Makeup Revolution London — Haunted Lipstick in Corpse Bride, Haunted Liquid Highlighter in Blood of My Enemies (yes, it’s red…and in a skull-shaped dropper bottle), Beautiful Darkness and Under Your Spell Eyeshadow Palettes, Re-Loaded Palette in Visionary, I Heart Revolution Violet Chocolate Palette, and I Heart Makeup No Photos Please Palette with min-primer. GWP mystery gift bag — Freedom Makeup London Bronzed Professional in Warm Lights (the two lighter shade look as though they may work for me!), MUR Ultra Strobe Balm, MUR Ultra Contour Kit Lightening Contour Kit 02, MUR Ultra Base Corrector Palette, a lipstick that I’ve already misplaced. I hope I find it, because it was a pretty rosy nude color.
*Apocalyptic Beauty LOTM Subscription — Harvest Goddess Collection: Liquid Lipstick in Samhain (pumpkin orange matte); Eyeshadows in Isis (matte chartreuse), Demeter (matte yellow-orange), Pomona (matte gingery orange), and Huichi (shimmery plum).
??????? ?????: Nothing special. Just chores and errands.
???? ??? ??? ???? ?? ???? ??? ????? ????????: AHS Cult (Netflix)
Happy birthday!
It’s not till the 17th, but thank you! 🙂
Rachel, your manicure sounds awesome.
Thanks! If you have Instagram, this is it:

Wowza!
Your manicure is DIVINE, Rachel!!
Thank you, kjh and Tracy!
Haul: Disney x Colourpop – the glosses, Almost There (which came completely shattered), So This Is Love, A Whole New World super shock shadows, and Birthday Wish super shock shadow. I really wanted the Tiana lipstick but it was sold out by the time I got online
Weekend Plans: Lauryn Hill concert tonight, working on my routines for next weekend’s Mynx Extravaganza (if anyone is in St. Louis come and see the show, proceeds go to a non-profit that helps domestic violence victims)
Last Show I Binge Watched: Golden Girls. I watch it at night before I go to bed, lol
Haul/Rediscoveries: within the last two weeks, I’ve gotten my order for the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe vault, 6 single eyeshadows from Kylie cosmetics (Lightyear, Sunshine, Unwrap Me, Raspberry Sugar, Blizzard, and Pyrite), and a Lime Crime lip pencil in Poppy. My Dose of Colors x Desi & Katy Friendcation palette should be here early next week. I’ve worn makeup exactly once in the last 3-4 weeks, so I don’t have much to rediscover, unfortunately.
Weekend plans: my boyfriend and I are visiting his mom on Saturday. Other than that, just homework and work work.
What was the last TV show you binge watched: Queer Eye! I watched all of it this summer with my mom, but my boyfriend wanted to watch it so I was more than happy to watch it again. Other than that, we typically relax right before bed with an episode or two of The Office (for me, because I’ve never watched it) or Frasier (for him, for the same reason).
Also, Christine, I noticed that a few Free for Haul Fridays back that you mentioned that you hauled the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill vault. Are you intending to swatch and/or review it? I know with the onslaught of holiday releases that you must be swamped, so no hurry at all. If you’re planning on it and just haven’t gotten to it yet, sorry if I sound pushy. I’m just curious about your thoughts on it.
p.s. Frasier is one of my favorite sitcoms 🙂
Perfect sign of a very tame, well behaved dog? Bares teeth without so much as nipping! Mellan is just perfect ❤️
Haul: I almost had a haul to report? A friend who works for Sephora has very kindly offered a F&F code that she’s sending to a group of us, but it hasn’t been sent yet. Once it is, I’ll be heading up the street for Huda Emerald Palette and the UD 24/7 eyeliner set. Oh, and a new FAB Pure Mineral Sunscreen Moisturizer, too! Hope to update later?
Weekend plans: Other than a trip to Sephora maybe later today, just my usual. Hair, definitely nails (I have seriously neglected them the past few weeks, and they are beginning to look it?), meeting on Sunday.
Last show I binge watched? A new show on ABC called “Castaways”. This was a reality show unlike any other, which was why I even bothered with it. Nothing was staged, it was very raw and relatable. I watched 2 full episodes back to back, that in itself is binge watching for me! Hard for me to concentrate and be engaged in a show past the 2 or 3 hour mark, but this one held my attention each and every episode.
Haul/Rediscovery: Nothing! I haven’t done my makeup all week. I miss it.
Weekend plans: Tomorrow we’re going out for dinner, ice cream, and book shopping. Otherwise, probably just chores and errands.
Most recent binge-watch: Season 2 of The Good Place!
Haul/Rediscovered: No hauls this week. I rediscovered Benefit Benetint, which makes a very pretty and simple cheek look.
Weekend plans: Maybe a water aerobics class tomorrow and on Sunday, a birthday party
Last show I binge watched: a few episodes of Orange Is The New Black. I have a few more episodes left but I did go online to find out how a major plot line is resolved.
Haul:
Bite Beauty Libra: I was looking for a true brown and Bite Beauty heard my request. It’s just what I wanted.
Natasha Denona #10 palette: I got it for the purples but I absolutely love the natural look I can create with the neutral shades in the palette
Here is the look with Libra and ND#10: https://instagram.com/p/Boj-R04g7P2/
My Nordstrom haul was not so successful. I ordered Dior Diorskin Nude Luminizer in Pink Glow, thinking the formula might be similar to my favorite highlight formula in the Dior Backstage Cheek palette. Not only was it not the same formula but it was virtually undetectable on my skin, no matter how much I built it up. (The “Nude” should have been my clue.)
I also was unimpressed with MAC lipstick in More Than A Woman. The pigment gathered in my lip lines and the color was not unique to my collection. I sent the lipstick and the luminizer back.
Trish McEvoy #55 deluxe blender brush. This is for blending liquid products into the skin, such as foundation, concealer, highlighters, and blushes. It generally takes me a long time of working with a brush to decide if I love it (or not). I have enjoyed other Trish McEvoy brushes so I like this well enough to keep experimenting with it.
Weekend: We’ve gotten off to a rough start. In the past 8 days I’ve only had one night of more than five hours sleep, so I’m exhausted. My gynecologist had me come in to check my blood pressure and heart rate because I have been having heart palpitations and racing heart at night. Apparently I’m okay, although I don’t feel okay. This morning my granddaughter was in the emergency department with croup. Her blood oxygen was at 61% and she couldn’t breathe. They had to give her steroid injections and a breathing treatment. I was supposed to be heading out for a weekend in Chicago this morning, but instead went over to the house to watch my grandson so my son in law, who has gone back to college, could take a math test. We’re still going to head to Chicago here shortly, but I’m not sure it’s going to be a good trip. I just want to get some sleep.
I’m like Christine, binge watching for me is two episodes of a show. We did watch all 10 episodes of Maniac in one week (a new record for us) and this week we started Ozark.
I’m so sorry about your granddaughter. I hope she’s doing much better now. How terrifying!
Bite Libra looks really beautiful on you.
Gosh Tammy, I can so relate to your granddaughter – how old is she? Croup is such a shocking response to a virus. Very scary indeed when they cannot breathe and require urgent treatment. She is in the right place.
I was going to ask you how your new regime of medication was going, but I can see from your response here that it’s not going too well. Heart palpatations and racing heart is not exactly fun, especially when you are exhausted, lying awake and unable to sleep and imagining all kinds of health issues in the middle of the night.
I hope your son in law goes really well in his maths test – so hard to stuy with a family. Crossing fingers and saying prayers for all of you. I hope you can sleep well tonight.
Genevieve,
Yes, I was so surprised my granddaughter ended up in the ER after your two close calls with your grandson. Willow is 3. The doctors think she might be developing asthma, based on the way her throat was closing up (??).
I have slept a little better the past two nights ?
My SIL thinks he did well on his test. Yes, it’s very hard to go back to school while raising children (I did both my bachelors and masters with children at home). Joey is going to school full time and working full time, plus trying to raise the three children (ages 13, 3, and 1). It worries me to see them under so much stress. I do whatever I can to help.
Tammy, I remember when my son had croup….it was terrifying but by the time we got him to the ER, it had stopped (it was winter and apparently one of the things that helps “ordinary” croup is cold air – it shrinks the swelling). The doctors told us that if we had a closed in porch of some sort (we didn’t) to put him there to sleep. Instead, we bundled up, closed the furnace register in our room and opened a window to let in the cold Canadian winter air. I hope your precious grand-daughter is better really soon.
Willow was possibly having an asthma attack, in addition to croup, and she now has an at-home breathing machine. She was back to herself the next day.
Great IG. Libra looks excellent. Hope your granddaughter has weathered the croup storm.
All is well now?
Hi Tammy, thinking of you and your granddaughter and hoping you both return to better health soon.
Thank you Tracey.
Haul/Rediscoveries: I stopped by Riley Rose on their birthday because they had 10% off and a GWP, so I picked up Trick and Treat liquid lipsticks by Sugarpill (black matte with glitter and metallic orange, the latter for a coworker), a foot exfoliation mask by A’Pieu, and some non-beauty stuff. The GWP included another full-size Sugarpill lipstick in Strange Love!! From work as gratis, Freya lipgloss by Anastasia (which means I now have three of the five glosses they released for fall…oops! I love sheer, glittery lips). I’m also already planning my haul for the next time we get an extra 10%, because I have a lot of points I’ve been saving.
Weekend plans: Weekend? What weekend?? Today I’m puppy-sitting and going for a physical, tomorrow and Sunday I just have short shifts at Ulta.
What was the last TV show you binge watched? I’m rewatching “The X-Files” right now! I was watching s3e13 “Syzygy” last night, but I was dead tired from my 12-hour day so I fell asleep in the middle. Gonna finish it now, before I have to go walk the puppy again ?
How old is the puppy Helena? They are so, so cute and they do need lots of little walks.
That’s a great show to binge. Never watched it originally, but it came back on a man station…spike tv?… when I was out of work, and I was able to catch 3 episodes per night. Even if it seems outside your general viewing habits ( i’m an ID addict) it is just iconic.
Haul: I think all I bought this week was a bottle of Chanel No.5 (not my fave scent from Chanel but it was marked down so significantly – the bottle size is being changed – so I almost couldn’t afford NOT to buy it, which I’m sure most here will understand.
Weekend plans: It’s Thanksgiving in Canada. I’ll go to hot yoga tonight, to the gym tomorrow morning and then finish up the last minute shopping; my younger son is coming home for the weekend and I’ll be making a special Sunday Brunch for the 3 of us; my daughter and son in law will be joining us Monday for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner (some of which I’ve prepped already and much of which I’ll get ready on Sunday to make Monday more relaxing).
Last series I binge watched – probably season 2 of Happy Valley on younger son’s Netflix.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, Rachel!
Happy Thanksgiving Mariella – and I am sure you have cooked up a storm for the feast. I always prep some of the food the day or so beforehand too – it just makes things easier. What are you preparing?
Happy Valley is stunning – Season 2 is brilliant. I have loaned my DVD’s of both Season 1 & 2 to my girlfriend and she has just emailed me to say how much she loved it.
Thanks for the nice wishes, Genevieve! We’re having the standards – turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, a wonderful cranberry chutney that I’ve been making for years, maple glazed carrots (we’re Canadian, after all), a new recipe I tried last for an herbed tomato cobbler and for dessert, an East Coast blueberry buckle (pumpkin pie is traditional but we all like this dessert so much….).
I’ve watched Coronation Street since I was in elementary school so I remember Sarah Lancashire (Catherine Cawood) from when she was Raquel Wolstenhulme, ditzy barmaid. What a truly gifted actor she is! And seeing James Norton as that psychopathic character….what a 180 shift from most of the characters he’s played but also just how clean and angelic he looks!
That sounds like a lovely lunch you are preparing – I like the sound of that cranberry chutney and the herbed tomato cobbler. I think all your food sounds delicious. Have a lovely day.
I have just looked up the recipe of the Herbed tomato cobbler and it is one that my family would like too. I am going to give it a whirl this week. I am always after different ways to serve vegies. Thank you Mariella!
If it’s the one I’ve made and am making again, it’s from the current issue of Fine Cooking magazine and uses grape tomatoes. And Havarti, which I didn’t happen to have and which is a pain to shred so I used sharp cheddar, which I do have, and it was perfect. I’m not sure if the recipe is online or not but if they have FC in Aus., you could check it out at the news stand (maybe even take a photo). I’d happily post the recipe for you but I don’t know if Christine would want this site being used in this way. Is there a food discussion forum at the Temptalia Chat? I should go and take a look…
Hey Mariella,
You’re welcome to link or write-out a recipe in FFHF 🙂
Okay, just checked online and that IS the same recipe (Fine Cooking is sometimes very “guarded” in what recipes are available online). Hope you enjoy it, Genevieve.
Thanks, Christine! I didn’t want to clutter the place with “off topic” (waaay off topic) stuff without checking with you first, but it looks like Genevieve found the recipe – it’s the first thing to turn up when you type the recipe name into a search engine.
DUH – I forgot entirely about the “rediscovery” part of FFHF….I started using MAC Rhubarb blush again and then, 2 days later, I saw it in the recommendations question about berry toned blushes. I wonder if it’s the change of seasons that motivated me to take it out and use it. I know I sort of regretted buying it because 5 minutes after I bought it (okay, slight exaggeration), MAC came out with all those stunning ED blushes, of which I wanted 3 or 4 (contented myself with a mere 2 of them!).
Haul: Too Faced Sugar Peach palette, Floral Street perfume discovery set and a bunch of Makeup Revolution and The Ordinary stuff is on the way.
Weekend plans: Spend some quality time with my husband and cat. I have books to read too.
Last TV show binged: The Expanse. It’s been out for a couple of years but we only just started watching it – just a few episodes of season 3 left to go!
CeeBee – I have bought the 24 Hour Designer Brands foundation and it is stunning – it has a matte finish too and I think you would like it. At a chemist near to us, which is closing down, they had it on sale for $11.20 – so needless to say, I bought two bottles. One of the Anti Aging and one of the 24 hour….so I should be set for awhile.
Excellent news, thanks Genevieve – I caved and ordered some of the 24hr DB foundation just 2 days ago!
Quality time with husband and cat, add in a book, and you’ve just described my favorite type of weekend! I just started Exit West. What are you reading?
I’m currently reading a James Rollins Sigma Force action adventure, a book on quantum physics and the universe by Lisa Randall and a cookery book by Nigella Lawson, depending on my mood.
Lol Mellan trying go for bad. But he’s in the submissive position, cute!
Haul:Natasha Denona Gold palette, Ordered yesterday Nars Hot Tryst cheek palette and Moskova eye shadow quad – couldn’t resist the blues and greens. The Moskova quad reminds me of a old Nars eye shadow duo that I used to love.
Weekend plans : Pack for my trip to Baltimore, read and relax
Last TV show you binge watched?: West World season 1 dvd from Netflix. I plan to watch the other seasons on demand this weekend. Love that it has science fiction, romance and action. It’s also kinda sad
A gorgeous haul! You’ll be holiday ready.
Haul: I got a ZIIP! It’s on its way. That’s the biggest single beauty haul of my life!
Weekend: The usual, working on the house, cleaning, shopping for food. SUPER BORING. I might rent Solo, though to spice things up.
Binge Watching: We’ve been binging Psych, about 3 episodes an evening for a few weeks. Never saw the show. I’m enjoying parts of it but other parts are just sexist and upsetting.
I had to look up what a ZIIP was. At first I thought you were telling us you bought ZIP, as in nothing LOL
I had to look it up too and I think it looks amazing.
Haul / rediscoveries : No haul. Rediscovered Sephora Lipstories lipsticks. So creamy and pigmented. Love Oui and the packaging is cute?
Weekend plans: Not much. My daughter has homecoming!
Last TV show I binged: Insatiable on Netflix. I loved it. It’s like a darker, more twisted Ugly Betty. And on DVD, I binged again, The Facts of Life. TV shows in the 80s were the best❤
Haul: I’m into violets and purple lately. Got Essie Baguette Me Not (palest lavender) and Play Date (violet) nail color. And a backup tube of TF Black Orchid body cream.
TV: Mad Men. But mostly I’m addicted to YouTube these days.
Such a divine doggie – so well tempered and loved.
Haul – Purchased the Designer Brands 24 Hour foundation in Porcelain Ivory, which may be a shade too light for me now that spring has hit. It has a matte finish and does last all day (I wouldn’t say 24 hours though). I am going to purchase the next shade up and see how that goes. But I love the brand for its great foundations.
I am looking for a great navy mascara now.
Weekend Plans – Friday, we had Lachlan around – so it was trains, trains and Monster Trucks….
Saturday – shopping and a big date with the ironing board
Sunday – Bathurst 1000 (a car race) is on, so the males of the house are watching that and I am just relaxing or shopping for myself. As I have lost a lot of weight in the last year or so, lots of my clothes are way too big – so I have donated them to either my twin sister (who has put on weight) or to a local charity.
So now I have the ‘happy’ task of looking for some more summer tops/pants.
Binge Watching: In the past I have rarely binged watched anything, but lately when it has been very cold/wet or it will become hot, I do like to catch up with some series that I have missed. A couple I have been watching are:
Loch Ness – a crime series – sensational
Mystery Road – an Australian crime series and that is phenomenal.
Genevieve, Was the weight loss intentional?
Haul/rediscover- I bought several peices from the new Dior holiday line. The new Diorific matte in #620 Stunning is the most amazing wearable brown!!
Weekend plans- daughters soccer games (both days)
Binge watch- I wouldn’t call it binge watch but Friends is always on in the background keeping me company ?
Haul/Rediscoveries: I’ve been using NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha a lot more lately! It’s so pretty.
Weekend plans: reading, playing some games, and doing laundry
What was the last TV show you binge watched?: Trailer Park Boys! I love it so much, omg.
Haul/Rediscoveries: No rediscoveries this week, though I’m going to make a concerted effort to do more along these lines. The only haul is Notoriously Morbid’s Dragon-of-the-Month liquid lipstick subscription (which I forget to mention EVERY TIME — except now); this month’s color is Fafnir.
Weekend plans: Cleaning and doing office work that I brought home. Also, I do “virtual races” and one of my races is expiring soon, so I need to do that this weekend — 10K (I walk); I’ll probably do the 5K practice tonight and the 10K tomorrow.
What was the last TV show you binge watched?: Not sure. Some BBC mystery show probably (it’s been a while since I binge-watched).
Haul (2-3 weeks): Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet No 5 lipstick from 2018 Holiday Collection, Dior Rouge Blush in Charnelle, Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge Lipstick in Ultra Feminine; cashed in SDM points for 60% of this Chanel purchase – Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow in Clair-Obscur, Ombre Premiere Eyeshadow in Bleu Selene, Stylo Ombre et Contour in Electric Brown, Joues Contraste Blush in Quintessence, Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme Lipstick in Modern, Rouge Allure Liquid Powder in Invincible, and Le Volume Revolution de Chanel Mascara (3D Printed Brush) in 10 Noir. Did a major clothing/outerwear haul while in Canada, including a wool winter jacket, winter boots, purse, dress pants, and many tops.
Weekend Plans: Packing away summer and bringing out Fall (clothing, lipsticks, etc.). Making a nice dinner on Sunday or Monday in a nod to Canadian Thanksgiving (so much to be thankful for). Watching football and getting through my to do list.
Last tv show that you binge watched: Orange is the New Black.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians at home and abroad!
