Haul: I finally bought something from Melt Cosmetics during Black Friday, I feel like they never have deals. So I picked up the Love Sick and She’s in parties Stacks!
Weekend plans: Hoping to get a tree this weekend.
Do you have any exciting plans in December?: I love December, I almost turn into a Christmas Elf! I have a party next weekend with a bunch of friends. My Dad is visiting me this month and so much Christmas wrapping/ decorating to do!!
Haul: Because Sephora is getting rid of the Phyto hair care line, I bought a back up of each of Phyto 9 and Secret de Nuit. At MAC, I finally treated myself to Into the Pink ED blush and was given yet another Patenpolish lip “pencil” lippie/gloss as a freebie (I told them I’d got one a week or so earlier but the girl said “Your file shows you’re entitled to one” so despite my honesty, I got to choose another so I got Ruby).
Weekend plans: shop for some hostess gifts (we’re visiting a few friends) and something “blue” for our family gift game. Do some baking to freeze and some grocery shopping of non-perishables for Xmas dinner (it’s my turn come ’round again to host the family insanity – 25 to 30 people, some of whom are helpful and some, not so much)
Exciting plans for December: my daughter and son in law move into their new house (well, it’s a very old house and so terrific and quirky, but new to them) and my older son (who is in the Canadian Forces) will be home for the holidays for the first time since 2014 (he’s been home since then but just not at Xmas – he was in S. America last year and Asia the year before) so, in spite of all the holiday planning, we really want to spend a lot of time with him. Other than that, it’s just the usual Xmas craziness.
Oh I didn’t know Sephora was discontinuing Phyto — I use the volumizer spray every single day. Good to know.
When I looked at Sephora’s site a few weeks ago, there were very few Phyto products there all of a sudden so the next time I was at my local Sephora, I looked on the shelves and saw stock of all (or most) of their products. A sales person came over and asked if she could help me and I said I was just checking to see they were still carrying the line. Then I asked her if it was being discontinued and in a very quiet voice, she said “Yes. Once the products we have on the shelves are gone, that will be the end”. She likes the products too and was about as dismayed as I. So, yes, stock up on your volumizer spray (I wonder if they’re going to mark them down before they’re all gone, though there are so few products available online and around here, that’s the only place to find Sephora’s sale items).
Haul: Urban Decay pro tapered blending brush and pro large tapered powder brush. I’ll probably place a Sephora order this weekend during the $20 off $50+ sale but I’m not quite sure what I’m going to get off my wishlist yet.
Weekend plans: Painting! again lol.
Exciting plans in Dec: We’re going to host a New Years party.
Haul: I picked up some goodies during the Black Friday weekend, including a backup of Modern Mercury (no regrets!), a replacement Naked original palette since I have panned all of my favorite shades, and several bottles of my favorite Beauty Protector leave-in conditioner from Birchbox
I am contemplating what to use my $25 Sephora holiday promo card on… I was really hoping that the Tom Ford Soleil Bloom powder would come in eventually, but I finally emailed TF customer service today since it’s OOS even on their site and they said they don’t expect it to be replenished 🙁
Weekend plans: Some old friends are coming in to town to stay with us tonight. Also have plans to go pick up a few bags of kibble and drop them off at my local shelter because they sent out a facebook plea for donations and I can’t say to to puppies!!
Do you have any exciting plans in December?: We’re hosting my husband’s family here for Christmas, so that should be really fun! I love the holidays. And honestly, I”m just looking forward to the days off.
Thank you for supporting your local rescue dogs. A customer told me tonight that she is a foster mom for Puerto Rican puppies rescue. Think that’s important post hurricane. And she’s a kid! Good for her, too.
HAUL: My first ever Black Friday shopping haul arrived! I saved an average of 29% overall. Shipments included:
• MAC: Flat Out Fabulous and Brave lipsticks, Prep + Prime Lip Primer, and Vanilla eyeshadow, plus a free tube of face primer (Ok, my lipstick no-buy starts…NOW!)
• KIEHL’S: Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment (this stuff is amazing!), Eye Alert, and Calendula Herbal Extract Toner, plus three free sample packets of Kiehl’s products.
• TARTE: Rainforest of the Sea Volume I eyeshadow palette, plus a free blush/contour sample card.
Also, I received the box that was supposed to contain Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place in Desert Beige (my HG foundation) and a free sample of Resilience Lift Night Creme. However, they forgot to put the foundation in the box! I called them and they’re shipping it to me via 2-day UPS. This was the least exciting purchase, since it’s just a replacement. So although it was a bit annoying, it wasn’t terribly disappointing. If my MAC order had been messed up, that would have been so much worse!
WEEKEND PLANS: Just the usual chores, etc.
EXCITING PLANS FOR DECEMBER: Going to Disney World in a couple weeks!
HAUL: Nars Outremer and Daphne matte singles. Gorgeous colors but definitely not the easiest to work with on the upper lid. I will keep trying. Maybe with water or mixing medium they would make good liners.
WEEKEND: It’s my 30th birthday 🙂
Happy birthday!!!
Happy Birthday, Ginny!
I just looked up those NARS shades and they are beautiful!
I don’t know if this will help you, but I use NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer under all of my eyeshadows. (Don’t get the one called “Hydrating.”) I let it set for a few minutes, and then apply shadow. Brushes work well for my creases and for blending, but I find that using my ring finger to gently pat the eyeshadow on works better on my eyelids.
Thank you, I’ll look for that primer!
I hope it works for you as well as it does for me. And if not, it’s NYX, so you haven’t lost a lot of money!
Happy Birthday Ginny! All the best to you 🙂
Happy Birthday!

Ulta ($39 off – order cost $1.06) : Lime Crime Diamond Dew Liquid Eyeshadow (Pixie), UD 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil – 50% off (Naked, Native)
Ulta: Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow (Boheme, La Douce), GWP – Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma
Urban Decay (50% off): Vice Lipstick (Liar, Crisis, Ravenswood, Naked), UD PRO (Moondust Brush – 2, Tapered Blending Brush, Contour Definition Brush)
*Note – Sephora lost my huge 50% off Urban Decay order (lipsticks and liners). They issued a refund which is not yet on my card. They said they couldn’t refill the order. Not happy. I had planned on using my Rouge discount to buy something and the 2 items I was considering are OOS. At this point I’m not even really sure I want to order from them again; although I probably will.
Weekend plans: Swatch, swatch, swatch! LOL I also need to deal with a few more financial things bc my credit card was used fraudulently on the 29th for over $4,500. Otherwise, not sure.
Do you have any exciting plans in December?: Nope. Unless you count attended some continuing ed classes for my license as exciting.
Such a handsome fella in his new bowtie! It is sort of beginning to feel like autumn around these parts…I guess?
Haul: Ordered a custom engraved Vice Lipstick in Manic and a new UDPP in Eden from UD. Tried to get another one in Tampered, but it was OOS. Also took advantage of that $25 Sephora coupon and ordered Ole Henrikson Truth Serum and ColourPop mini eyeshadow palette (dang it! I cannot remember its name!). And then, the icing on the cake, I ordered directly from Pat McGrath a LuxeTrance Lipstick in Strangé! Very excited to try her formula!
I also went on a clothing haul at Kohl’s. $120 worth of stuff, but between their Cyber Monday 20% and Kohl Dollars, I only spent around $26!
Still waiting on my leather jacket from them, and my TV from Best Buy….☠
Weekend plans: TV is *supposed* to arrive today. So, the big thing is getting that all setup and getting my internet hooked up, too. Haven’t had my ancient XP hooked up in a decade! Of course, gotta do hair, nails, meeting, too!
Do you have any exciting plans for December?: Invited my son Kyle to go see Star Wars The Last Jedi with his old Mom, my treat. Hopefully, this works out better than last year’s invite! And, I’ll be looking for a new apartment, too! Likely nearer to my 2 kids. Only problem? The West Valley is boring as sin! I love Scottsdale, but my closest friends and both kids are on the other side of town, so it has been very lonely these past 4 years.
Because I’m horribly forgetful, I accidentally left out my Marshall’s haul of some very sweet finds! Bite Kale Amuse Bouche Lipstick $4.99, KVD Cathedral Studded Kiss Lipstick $6.99, W7 Color Me Nude Natural Nudes eyeshadow palette $5.99 (because I had read that it is a solid dupe for UD Naked 3, which because these shades may wind up looking awful on me I’m not getting the UD one.)
Hey, Kale? Will check tj’s and marshall’s Immediately. Though I hate stores between Halloween and valentine’s. I still think they need a duo mini of kale and squid ink. And i KNOW that’s a good idea.
I got my first Pat McGrath lipstick in Beautiful Creature and I am in love. The formula is amazing. Not even a small amount of feathering, so comfortable on the lips, and wears like crazy. I may go bankrupt buying these lipsticks! Can’t wait to see what you think, Nancy.
I can hardly wait to receive mine, Deborah S.! The only thing is, I watched a ton of YT videos on them last night, and they seem to run cooler than expected? I seriously hope that Strangé really is a dark reddish brown.
So despite my resolve to not buy anymore lipsticks I am ashamed to say I took part in the Cyber Monday sale at Urban Decay. I did keep the $ amount low and purchased 2 lipsticks and one lip liner. The lipsticks were Manic and Hitch Hike and liner was Gash.
Haul: Sephora: Pat McGrath Labs Luxe Trance Lips in Wrecked and Beautiful Creature, Too Faced Sweetie Peach Bronzer, Cover FX Illuminating Spray and Finishing Powder, Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Candle, Sunday Riley Good Genes, MUFE lip pencil in #40, Milk Makeup Eye Shadow Pigment in Hotel Lobby, Elizabeth and James Coffret Warm and Spicy Sampler, Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser 100 point perk and MUFE Basics meets Bolds 500 point perk.
Ulta: MAC Liptensity in Mulling Spices, Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara deluxe sample andDose of Colors Liquid Lip in Fudge (for my daughter).
Neiman Marcus: Dior Eye Shadow Quint In Sienna Embrace, Lip and Cheek color in Desire, Shiseido Facial Cotton, Dior Fusion Mono Shadow in Meteore.
Fudejapan: Chanel Camelia Peche Blush and Shiseido Beauty Powder Holiday 2017 collection.
Thymes Ltd.: Goldleaf scent in the room spray, candle, soap and body lotion.
ColourPop: Ordered the Kathleen Lights Bundle x 2 this morning, Dusk till Dawn palette, Semi Precious palette and All I See Is Magic palette.
Nars: Liquid blush in Dolce Vita x 2.
Weekend Plans: Going to Spokane for my Aunt’s 90th birthday celebration and taking my Mom and my other Aunt. Also plan on doing some final Christmas shopping. Mostly need a couple of small stocking stuffer gifts for my Mom and Ex.
Plan for December: Just the usual things I do every year. Lots of baking and cooking. Some decorating.
That’s a fantastic milestone to reach your 90th! Wishing your aunt a happy birthday and I hope you find what you are looking for in Spokane. Enjoy the weekend.
I see you got the Fyrinnae exquisites to review! Thank you for considering my request. Looking forward to your review!
Haul:
– Love Drunk and Accident Vice lipsticks from UD.
– Colourpop’s too good to be true half off lippie sticks sale.
– CP Semi-Precious palette from Sephora. This one is a real beauty!
Haul: Nothing! I might order some stuff from Amazon and Target, however.
Weekend: Making a nice bolognese sauce tonight, taking my sister to an AA meeting while I cook and tomorrow too (she’s been struggling lately), food shopping, and finishing the Christmas decor. I’m hoping for a very lazy Sunday too. A nice home cooked brunch, some movies and possibly video games.
Plans: Other than Christmas at home, nothing really. It’s my sister’s B-day in on the 31st so we’re going to have to try to do something fun since it’s her first sober year since her teens. Speaking of which I better start brainstorming.
I wish your sister all the best. It sounds like she has a great support network, and I hope she has a wonderful birthday. And hopefully you get your lazy Sunday, those are the best! 😀
Congratulations to your sister on that wonderful milestone and to you, Erin, for helping her to reach it. I hope you have a restful weekend.
My best wishes to your sister, Erin, and congrats on this milestone! You are of great support to her and I’m sure it makes all the difference when it comes to her staying strong.
You are wonderful. This issue is so overwhelming and absolutely everywhere. Glad she has you for support, bec it is a very hard road to walk and win.
Was so thrilled to catch holiday sales on items that I’ve been eyeing forever and ever
*MAC-25% off – Robert Lee Morris lipstick in Concord Grape, Rossy de Palma lipstick in Rossy, Extra Dimension Blush in Into the Pink
*UD -50% off – Vice Liquid Lipstick in Pandemonium
*Sephora -BITE Mini Multistick Duo in Cashew & Papaya, Sephora Brow Gel, sample tube of KVD Lock It Concealer
*Ulta -20% off – NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard, China Glaze polishes in Pearl Jammin’ and As Good As It Glitz, Cosrx Honey Cream (repurchased, love!), TIGI Bedhead Queen for a Day Thickening Spray (HG), Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk (for dry ends), Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Soap (HG), and free Black Friday Gift Bag with tons of samples
*Weekend – rest, swatch and test makeup, buy holiday giftcards for family/friends, clean out garage
*Nothing too exciting, which is fine with me
Haul: Oddly I didn’t take advantage of any makeup sales over Black Friday through Cyber Monday, but I did buy two pairs of Frye boots for a steal because of the sales. I also tried my hand at thrifting last week and this week, and came away with a Couch purse, leather blazer, and Frye mules for under $80 for all three. Sweet.
Weekend plans: The house is finally finished (well the painting, tiling, and re-carpeting of two bedrooms) so we are finally putting up a tree (yaaay!). One of the bedrooms has now been converted into an official “girl-room” – it’s becoming a big walk-in closet/shoe storage/makeup storage/etc. room and I’m beyond excited to finish it this weekend.
Do you have any exciting plans in December?: Putting the house back together after pulling it apart for painting/tiling/carpet..the end result is awesome but it’s like unpacking and moving in all over again. Also celebrating Christmas (yes!). I hope everyone here has a fantastic December and enjoys the holiday celebrations. 🙂
Haul: Makeup Geek Charmed and High Wire! I’m quite excited for them to come in, since I already know I love the formula.
Weekend Plans: Lots and lots and lots of work. I have a ton of papers due within the next few weeks, and I have three (three!!) grad school applications due December 15th. I’m basically just going to hunker down and work.
Do you have any exciting plans in December? Beside working on my papers and applications, I’m going home for a few days to babysit our cats while my mom and stepdad are on vacation, and then they’ll get back right before Christmas so I’ll stay for that. Once these three applications are submitted, I’m planning on being a total lazy loaf until the new year. I’m planning on drinking lots of red wine.
Good luck on your apps, and I hope for admission to all three, so you have a hard choice. Not sure I remember what your field is.
Haul: Biologique Recherché P50 PIGM400 (I’ve had only 2 days but so far it’s great — thanks to the kind poster who gave me a source!); Cle de Peau concealer (I’d lost my last one, and I like it so much I just decided to get another rather than hope the first one turns up at some point).
Weekend: tomorrow the usual tasks, errands and pilates, then Sunday I’ll pack for Monday early departure to a week-long business trip to Chicago.
December: I’m taking the last two weeks of December off and am seriously looking forward to real downtime. One week I’ll visit a city that I’m considering moving to. Otherwise a few holiday parties here and there. My family gathers for Christmas in January so I’ll shop after-holiday sales for that.
Ooh, you got the Fyrinnae Exquisites (hopefully in the new shades as well)! I totally forgot about those until I saw your post.
No haul for me as I’m saving up for Christmas gifts.
No weekend plans other than to continue looking for Christmas gifts and putting up more Christmas decorations.
Sadly, I have nothing planned for December this year.
Haul: I used my $25 off at Sephora to get the NARS Audacious Lipstick Keepsake Set (Dominique, Carmen, and Vivien), and I picked up two items from the MAC x Robert Lee Morris collection- the lipstick in Pumpkin and the blush in Linda (and one eyeshadow pan in Corduroy to get up to free shipping). I would have loved to get some of the other lipsticks or blushes in the collection but could only afford one each, so I went with the most wearable shades for me, though I would have loved to pick up the Fig, Persimmon, Concourd Grape and Pomegranate lipsticks and the Rhubarb blush as well…
Weekend plans: my downstairs neighbors moved out, so the “apartment complex people” are renovating the place as they were in it for 10 years and they need to replace things and probably bring some stuff up to code (our apartments suck!), so just doing things that involve noise-cancelling headphones a lot?
Do you have any exciting plans in December?: nope
Haul: Hourglass Mineral Veil primer, with my Sephora $25 off coupon; Sephora birthday gift of Tarte blush and lip paint; Hylamide Pore Delete Finisher (not in hand yet).
Weekend plans: a weekend meetup with some of my husband’s college friends. Too much drinking for my taste.
Exciting December plans: I try to keep December as calm as possible. I have a significant birthday but not celebrating until January with a trip to Hawaii.
Haul: Sephora ($25 reward): IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion double brush. I don’t need more makeup and I wanted to try this brush which was recommended to me. I love my BBs and they are my preferred tool for applying the foundation/ CC Cream and concealer but I find that they leave my face drier than usual during the cold season. So I want to give this brush a try and use the BBs for the finishing touch.
Skincare: Pai Skincare Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil, Jonzac High Tolerance Light Cream (Reactive line for sensitive skin), Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb.
Weekend plans: The usual chores.
Exciting plans for December: No exciting plans for the time being. Celebrating the Christmas with my hubby and a couple of friends (our families are in Europe).
All ready to romp around in the autumn leaves, how I wish it was autum here!
Haul: nothing really much beauty wise this week, just focusing on Christmas presents early for family members.
Weekend plans: Nothing on the horizon – just recovering after the worst November heatwave for a 100 years here. It has been horrendous, we went from winter to hot summer in one week. Thank goodness for our new A/C.
Plans for December: We will probably put up our Christmas tree next week and I will start to wrap up the presents for our grand children, but keep them hidden!
I am getting Olivia a bike for Christmas, but I have to have her with me to choose the size. I’ve told her that “Santa needs to know which bike she likes and can fit the best, so we pick one and Santa will add it to his sack” Which means she doesn’t get it there and then! She is pretty happy with this subterfuge and has informed me that she hopes it is a princess one. No surprises there!
OMG. I thought the princess obsession was peculiarly American. At my night job, I inveigle the little girls to ask me who MY favorite princess is, only to reply It’s a toss up between Pluto and Goofy. Being literal minded at that age, some pipe up, but they are dogs! I know. Dogs make the best princesses. I have a princess dog at home. (Patticake, who should be freed after 2 months strict crate rest Wed; they put it off.). One sweet pipsqueak said, But, but, but, ok. Dogs can be princesses, but those are BOYS. And boys can’t be princesses. They just can’t be! What a great age. Hope Olivia has a wonderful holiday. I’ll wear her eponymous Nars Audacious and think of a wee red headed Genevieve clone…
You’re right – it is a lovely age and she has a plethora of princess dresses, I think a lot of little girls everywhere love the ‘princess’ phenomena.
Her little brother, nearly two, is starting to get interested in dress ups, but there’s not the same amount around for little boys.
Well, wifi cut out and went blank. Not really willing to redo it, so i’ll just mention 2 things. Ilia balmy days…hard as a rock in a warm house. Returning and not doing any more Ilia. Originally the stupid autocorrect changed the brand to ISIS!! Muse reviewed Lottie London blush. Zac is as described, but Zayn is far lighter, and most suitable for light and pale skintones. Both are mauve family. I’ve worked 11 hours today, and at my advanced age, don’t feel like really being responsive right about now. Have a good w/e, all.
Love Mellan’s seasonal bow ties!
Haul: CCO: Tom Ford Last Dance quad (stood looking at TF quads and consulting Temptalia!), Bobbi Brown Hydrating Cleanser, a gold MAC eyeliner; Spring Good Friday extra 20% off: Bobbi Brown (25% off) Highlighter Trio Palette, High Octane Luxe Eyeshadow, Charlotte Tilbury The Queen lipstick; Chanel Le Signe du Lion Or Blanc highlighter and Les Numeros 1 & 4 lipsticks.
Weekend Plans: Attending Holiday symphony concert, watching NFL football, unpacking winter clothes, enjoying above seasonal temps before the reality of winter sets in next week.
Exciting Plans for Dec: We go home for the holidays. Family (both sides) and friends within blocks, lots of hockey and football on TV, marathon game nights, etc. Can’t wait!
Haul:
MAC Rubenesque paint pot. Bought off Poshmark. Very lovely peachy gold color.
MAC order came from when they had 25% off. Ordered pans of gleam and mythology. Plus soft brown and nylon for my daughter. Also ordered Viva Glam Nicki lipstick in Nicki’s Nude, Playing Koi lipstick from their nude collection and the Steve J and Yoni Spotlight Me Lipstick which was 40% off in their goodbye section. Got a free Cyber lipstick too which I’ll pass to my daughter lol
Weekend Plans:
Christmas decorating!
Exciting December Plans:
Spending time with my daughter…FINALLY! LOL
Haul: I didn’t BUY anything this week, but my Lunatick Cosmetic Labs order arrived. Looking forward to trying my new lippies.
Weekend plans: Today is errands, tomorrow is really busy. I’m going to a big arts and craft fair, then heading down to the airport to pick up my partner who has been out of town for a wedding, then I’ve got to get super fancy and do a belly dance performance.
Any exciting December plans: Nopenopenope. If I’m lucky I might be able to pop down to Portland for a few days to hang out with a friend. But mostly gotta keep things cheap and simple this year.
