Haul: nada.

Weekend plans: I’m going out to dinner with my sister for her birthday. Starting my December Daily journal.

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: I’m creative and determined.

Joan Avatar

Haul: I went back for the second part of the VIB sale, unnecessarily, but…I got the Bite multistick in mauvember, Stila Glitter in Next to Notte (got this to go with mauvember for a quick-ish monocromatic look), UD Glitter liner in pyro, the Nudestix creator set, makeup wipes and First Aid Beauty Tales of FAB Skin.

Weekend plans: Probably a lot of prep for a trip my SO and I are taking next week. I know he want to get his eyes checked at JCP, so he was suggesting we could go and I could hang out in sephora.

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: I am intensely loyal- to friendships/people, brands, businesses, sites and work. Basically I’m super Hufflepuff…and proud. 😛

Brandy Avatar

•Haul: Huda Beauty Electric Obsessions eyeshadow palette (so, so good)
•Weekend plans: Christmas baking prep and gift shopping – my goal is to be finished by Dec 1.
•What’s your favorite part of your personality?: my perpetually grateful attitude. Life is truly a gift!

Seraphine Avatar

Sweet dreams, Mellan!

Haul: My Sephora VIB sale items were delivered to my PO box today, but I can’t get there until after work. The box contains (if they got it right): KVD Saint & Sinner Eyeshadow Palette (got it for $49.60), KVD Studded lipsticks in Bachelorette and Sexer (yes, I know I’m on a lipstick no-buy, but they were only $9.60 each), plus a small bottle of Miss Dior perfume using my points rewards.

Weekend plans: Prepare for Thanksgiving, watch Outlander

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: My strong sense of individuality

Seraphine Avatar

Brought it home today and I’ve already done three hideously garish eye looks with it!!! So many colors to play with! Tomorrow I’ll try to come up with some usable looks. Having fun with it!

AJ Avatar

Haul: I’ve been back on a low buy/no buy since the VIB Rouge sale, so nada! Really want some of those ColourPop limited edition holiday lippies though…

Weekend plans: Going out for dinner with my partner tomorrow night, and then on Sunday we’re going to the pre-Thanksgiving farmer’s market and craft fair, which is held in the same center as one of our favorite book stores, so there’s gonna be a whole lot of shopping.

My favorite part about my personality: Definitely how enthusiastic I am about what and who I love.

Haul: My Viseart order came in from Sephora but my 01 Neutral Matte shattered in shipping. It was just 1 eyeshadow but I’m super depressed because I can’t buy a replacement for it as it sold out the day of the sale. It’s getting returned because I can’t just replace the pan with a new one and I’m not sure how deep the cracks go in the rest of the product. (They didn’ pack this box as well consider how heavy the palettes are.)

Order from the last day of the VIB sale:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Sugar Glow Kit
Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation Fawn & Alabaster
Hourglass Vanish™ Seamless Finish Foundation Stick Porcelain & Blanc.
Ciaté London Glow-To Highlighter Solstice
Bite Beauty Agave Kisses Set
Viseart Eyeshadow Palette 05 Sultry Muse

Weekend plans: Work, Today I’m going to Fair November for the Christmas shopping. It’s a mini “One of a Kind Show” in my area. I had to book the day off to even get the chance to go as I really work all 4 days it runs during those hours. lol

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: I’m always looking for the best solution and thinking outside of the box.

WARPAINTandUnicorns Avatar

I’ve had these palettes and the foundations on my wishlist for awhile. The ABG Sugar Glow Kit is their first kit I can use as a pale person as well. lol

For the Viseart it’s been years on my wishlist so it’s was the right sale to make them at least $80CAN instead of $100CAN.

I’m crossing my fingers that it will be restocked for December……. $20 off $50 coupon it is.

Nicole D Avatar

I regret so much not buying any of the two Viseart palettes I had on my wishlist for so long (01 Neutral Matte and the ES Palette Petit PRO). The Petit PRO one was briefly available for a couple of hours on the Canadian site and I told myself that I will pass in favour of the Neutral Matte one which, of course, became out of stock.
So, I’m crossing my fingers too that at least the Neutral Matte will be restocked in December 🙂

Love how Mellan curls up into a doggie donut! ?

Haul: I placed a 2nd order with Sephora for VIB Rouge on Sunday evening, and STILL not even a shipping notice! Ordered Bite Mauvember Liquid Lipstick, Fenty Spacesuit lip gloss and Bite High Pigment Lip Pencil in Honey Berry, redeemed a 500 pt. perk of PTR’s Fabulous 4. Ordered from Deciem: 5% Retinoid in Squalane, “Buffet” and Marula Oil. From LA Splash: Medusa and Sinner gel mousse eye liner (Thank you, Michele@Binxcat!). And picked up a tube of Maybelline Full & Soft Waterproof Mascara because I was losing a ton of lashes when I ran out and began using others! Picked up a bottle of organic Castor Oil from Sprout’s to use on my lashes to regrow what was lost, after only 6 nights, patches that were wrecked have begun to look normal again.

Weekend plans: An appointment later today, Remicade infusion tomorrow, meeting on Sunday. And trying to fit in time for my hair, too. I retouched my roots last weekend, so I would like to give it some TLC with my Shea Moisture Superfruit Hair Masque. Also, I’m coming to the painful realization that there is just too many white hairs coming in on top to keep this slightly darker and rather unnatural tone than my OG hair color for much longer. What next, I wonder? Been using a level 3, but between the white skunk stripe on top and depigmentation along the sides that’s turning my once level 4 natural chestnut into dark, mousy level 5, IDK.

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: Compassion and a very strong sense of justice for those who have been oppressed, persecuted, bullied, harrassed, murdered for what they’ve had ZERO control over. Namely, the hatred and unwarranted rage unleashed upon them by others. I abhor the injustice and cruelty running rampant currently.

Tammy Avatar

OMG, my justice, bullying, and animal cruelty meter is off the grid, I actually consider these to be parts of my personality I have to manage in my job as a social worker (maybe they would be more advantageous if I were a lawyer???)

I wanted that Bite Mauvember Liquid Lipstick, you’ll have to report back. I love Fenty Spacesuit, wore it a few times in the past week, hope you love it too.

My hair at 52? Starting to be a problem. I have naturally black hair and am currently about 30% steel on top, still black from mid-skull to base. The steel isn’t pretty. There is not enough grey to transition to full grey (I’d have to strip the 70% natural black, which is very damaging) but there’s enough grey to make me crave a transition to grey. My grey is so dull, so steel. This is a hard age!

Haul:Pattipads, Synergy, WGRG air, cowshed for gift (with points), the BM naturals palette that was nordie’s, which was 50% off. BM Ready is good for aging lids.Sephora, ordered first day of sale, not here yet. Really think it’s lost, since the tracking info keeps changing, and not nec progressing… Also awaiting Besame Snow White selections. Plans: night job, Patticare (She’s getting air!) and knock off some more recert courses. Personality: guess the good parts are tolerance and egalitarianism. The questionable parts are overly divergent thinking, increasing attentional problems, and resorting to obscure knowledge, so no one has any idea what i’m talking about. At least here, I can generally, but not always, stay on topic.

LindaP Avatar

We call that the cinnamon bun! <3 Mellan!

Haul:
This is what has been going on. 🙂 I think my colors changed a bit, and certainly my eye lids have gotten more crepe-y the past few years. Over the recent months, I’ve become dissatisfied with a lot of my shadows and palettes. So…I gifted and sold most of them — to the point that I really feel I’m out of options! Now that’s housecleaning! Then I regrouped, thought about what worked, tested everything I could, and decided on this….

Mattes are my friend. Most shimmers just don’t enhance anymore, but are fine in the center. I tested every brand you can think of, thought of every color configuration known to womankind. (It was fun!) I ended up getting the Viseart Grand Pro Palette (currently shipping), and ordered these shimmers from MUG that I’ll store in a Z palette:
Pocket Change
Glamorous
Homecoming
Cinderella
Mango Tango

I can’t imagine what more I’ll need for a given my color preferences and style. Maybe I’ll fill in a single now and then, but I think I’m set. I’ll keep you posted if this new, grand system works — or fails miserably. 🙂

Weekend plans: I have worked myself to the bone lately. My husband is off with his friends tomorrow so I’m taking myself shopping at the outlet mall for work tops–and taking a long walk with the pups. Sunday swim, then focus on getting the house set for T-day.

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: I’m intuitive and astute about people and situations. It has served me well.

Haul:

*ILNP Nail Polish (I won a gift card) — Deja Vu, Bikini Bottoms, Black Orchid, Cityscape, and Reminisce.

*Fyrrinae — Pixie Epoxy. Shadow Minis in Dinosaur Plushie, Ailurophile, Nepenthe, Purgatory, Peppermint Vodka, Capybara, Meerkat, Pumpkinfire, Conjured Tempest, and Enchanting Otters. Blush Sample jars in Seduce, Greek Goddess, Charm, and Royalty. Highlighter Sample jar in Penguin.

*Macy’s — MAC Velvet Matte Lipsticks in Gwendolyn and Winifred.

Weekend plans: Maybe we’ll get to see the Thor movie this weekend. Finish an article I’m working on. My hubby had some vacation time he needs to use up, so he’ll be home all of next week. I’m looking forward to that.

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: I’m kind-hearted.

Tammy Avatar

Sephora 20% off Haul: Farmacy Honey Savior All-In-One Skin Repair Salve (fell in love with the sample, bought the full size, I like to put this on my lips in the morning to moisturize my lips while doing the rest of my make up); Fenty Beauty Gloss Lip Glitter in Plutonic Relationship, On the Moon, and Spacesuit (love these); Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Wheat (not necessarily any better than other skin-tone eyeshadow primers,I still have to be very careful with application or all my eyelid wrinkles become so glaring that I am tempted to remove the primer before I even apply my eyeshadow); Huda Beauty Winter Solstice Mini Lip Strobe Collection (another fun sparkling gloss set); Nars Man Ray Noire Et Blanche Lipstick Cofret (undeniably beautiful set but there are some problems with at least one of the colors leaving chunky pieces of pigment on my lip lines); Urban Decay Moondust brush (just used it for the first time today, I’m not sure how I feel about it yet); Fresh Sugar Advanced Lip Therapy (a staple, I buy a new one every fall); and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum (another staple, possibly the best retinol eye serum on the market).

Ulta: I debated for months over the Anastasia Subculture palette and finally decided that if I keep obsessing about whether or not to get it, I might as well just get it and make up my own mind about how it performs. I did make myself spend some time with my Viseart Dark Mattes before purchasing, as it has been mentioned that there are a few dupes in the Viseart palette. Here’s what I think: I actually don’t like my Viseart Dark Mattes palette. I don’t know if I got an older one or what, but the colors are not pigmented and don’t apply evenly. The dark matte colors in the Subculture palette are amazingly pigmented. I love this palette just for the dark mattes, which I can use as lower and upper lash liner and in the crease of my other eyeshadow looks. I reach for it every day for this purpose. As far as making complete looks with this palette, I don’t know if I will ever do that. I am glad to add it to my collection for crease color and lining my eyes.

Weekend plans: I did not get either of the two jobs I applied for. I made it to the second interviews on both and got great responses from the interviewers. One of the hiring managers even gave me her personal cell phone number and asked me to call her if I got a job offer, because she wanted to intervene. At the time I interviewed, there was no other candidate for this job, and the hiring manager did not have any other interviews planned. Apparently another candidate applied and this one “had more experience.” I was heart-broken. I am surprised at how much this impacted me. I am in emotional recovery at the moment, and don’t feel quite ready to put in more applications. I keep thinking irrational thoughts, like maybe they’ll change their mind, call me back, tell me it was a mistake. I have been taking extra care to rest and doing self-comforting. I am truly sad.

Favorite part of my personality: My work ethic. I’m self-motivated and hard-working. Also my ability to empathize with others.

Seraphine Avatar

So sorry you didn’t get the jobs. I know how that feels. But new opportunities will come along, and I’m sure you’ll find the right fit.

I’ve had the same obsession with the Subculture palette, and almost bought it during the Sephora VIB sale, but went with KVD Saint & Sinner instead. Which shades do you feel work the best and the worst in the Subculture palette? Although I have plenty to play with in my new KVD palette for now, Subculture has not fallen completely off my radar…yet.

LindaP Avatar

Oh Tammy, that just sucks. I know it can’t take away the pain, but I will say that getting hired is the weirdest, weirdest thing to go through. After eons of steady employment, in the past seven years my husband has been laid off due to budget cuts and been in two companies that closed. Getting those three jobs was awful. Probably 15 other things in between that didn’t come through. He has three –count ’em — three degrees from MIT. Like you, experienced and skilled. I swear, it didn’t make it easier.

You have to get back on the horse when you’re ready. You will make the change you need. But the process can be completely draining to the point where you doubt everything about yourself and your sanity. It’s not just you, and I hope that helps you to know that.

Tammy Avatar

Yes, Linda, it does help to know others go through this too. I really invested myself in those four interviews over the course of a week, and was exhausted afterward. So much emotional energy and nothing to show for it.

Nancy T Avatar

Oh Tammy, I’m so sorry! I can literally *feel* your deep disappointment and sense of loss over this particular job offer falling through. But just know this; THEY are the ones who lost out on a truly dedicated, hard working, and most importantly; caring social worker! I know in my heart that something worthy of your skills and compassion will come along for you!

Genevieve Avatar

Tammy, I can really feel your pain. Having sons, husband and myself subjected to the interviewing process is an exhausting and emotional moment, especially when you’ve been rejected. It’s hard not to take it personally and of course, you do.
Hopefully, something better will appear soon. Two years ago my youngest son, father of my grand children, went for a job just to give himself interview experience and it turned out to be so good that he accepted it, He has not looked back since.
Have faith, it will happen to you too.
Take care.

Erica Avatar

I actually really love the Subculture and have used it quite frequently since purchasing it in August. I love pairing All Star with Adorn. I love the mustardy shades. The shimmer toppers. I think it was ridiculous how people flipped out over that palette. I’m not saying one doesn’t have a right to dislike something but people acted like they were royally betrayed and quite frankly I’m surprised supposed makeup lovers were so opposed to playing around and giving something different a chance. I mean they do with anything mostly from MAC, Urban Decay, NARS and all the other brands with out there colors or very pigmented shadows

Tammy Avatar

So true, Erica. There are a lot of mediocre palettes that get good reviews because people have a love for the brand and are willing to work with the colors/textures. I was so surprised when I saw Subculture in person. It looked so lovely, I thought surely this couldn’t be the palette everyone is trashing online?

Tammy Avatar

I I did some self-care over the weekend, Rachel. It actually helped to have a good cry and receive support from my husband. I am burnt out from 3 years of working overtime every day in a high stress environment. A friend found a job posting and encouraged me to apply, so I did that today too. My 20 year old son and I spent the evening making dinner together: we listened to music, talked about generation Z, and he shared one of his favorite podcasts with me. My long hours at work rob me of so much, especially time with my family. Today was good for me.

Deborah S. Avatar

Tammy, sorry to hear that you didn’t get either of the two jobs. It is their loss. The universe must have something better in store for you so hang in there. I know it is depressing when your hopes were raised. I have been singularly lucky in not having had to interview for many jobs in my years working as an RN. I worked for the same hospital system for 40 years and advanced based on my performance. I was thinking about it when I read about your applying in a previous comment and realized that I wouldn’t know how to interview anymore. As positions opened I was approached about taking them and never had formal interviews. In one instance I was called about 10 AM, after having worked a graveyard shift, and asked if I would take the administrators job and I had until 8 AM the next morning to decide. I really commend you for going and seeking new opportunities. I know something even better will present itself. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Tammy Avatar

Deborah, When I first realized a year ago that I was going to have to find another job, I simultaneously realized that probably many people stay in jobs they hate because it is very uncomfortable and distressing to look for a job. It takes a great deal of energy to even put in an application, much less prepare for and attend interviews. There is some kind of mental inertia that takes hold when one needs to make a big change in their life, such as leaving an unhealthy relationship or job. It’s so much easier to do nothing.

Like you, I would like to believe the universe has something better in store for me. I hope it comes soon.

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh no, so sorry you didn’t get the jobs 🙁 The interview process is stressful enough, not getting the job is even harder. Just give yourself time to rest and recover, maybe it wasn’t meant to be, and with your skills, I’m sure there will be other great opportunities.

Haul: From Sephora, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Illumination Concealer, Tarte Metallics eyeshadows in Grind and Shake Down, Becca First Light Filter Primer; from MAC, I got an email telling me I could get a free PatentPolish lip “pencil” with any purchase. I chose the shade Pleasant for my “freebie” and picked up another tube of Brick-o-La. Then at Shoppers Drug Mart, I got some Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Butter (so much more moisturizing than the lotion), another Smashbox Red Rage lipstick (it’s been my “go to” red lately) and Lise Watier’s Mineral Compact Powder

Weekend plans: put winter tires on my car and my younger son’s as well (he’s coming home on Sunday to take his car in); make up for lost gym time; for dinner tonight, pepperoni pizza from the local pizza joint with a friend

Favourite part of my personality: the confidence and positive feelings I inspire in others (as a teacher, this is pretty important)

Erin Avatar

Haul: All my orders I made previously came in, including some lamps from West Elm!

Weekend: I’m going to try to go to the store on my own two feet without crutches! Other than that, hopefully, nothing, because I’m pretty, tore up from walking.

Favorite trait: Hmmm, either my intellect or my humor. Maybe my ability to endure and rise from anything. I admire that trait in so many but it’s oddly distant from me even though I embody it. Damaged in the brainpan, I guess 😛

Genevieve Avatar

I think you are a most brave and courageous survivor of your childhood difficulties and have emerged with a kind and generous heart. You really do deserve a break in life, especially after the last couple of years.

Anne Avatar

Haul: Second Sephora Haul… I picked up the NARS liquid blush in Orgasm, the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette, and the RMS Living Luminizer.

Weekend plans: Playing the Sims 4 new Cats & Dogs expansion pack XD. And maybe watching some classic movies as I saw Casablanca in the theater the other day and it made me want to watch more of the classics.

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: I’ve come to accept that I am smart. Like, I always thought saying that was bragging, but no. I am really, really, top 1% of the class smart WHEN it comes to academic type stuff. Social intelligence is still not fantastic, but I can pick up information crazy fast (assuming I’m not on neuropathic pain inhibitors like Lyrica, but even then even my docs think I’m super smart). Actually, no, my favorite part of my personality is that I’m kind. Or maybe a combo of both, being smart enough to realize how valuable being kind is, even on your worst days.

Tammy Avatar

The NARS Liquid Orgasm blush is off the chain! I don’t like Orgasm, I gave my powder Orgasm away. Then here comes this little sample of liquid Orgasm, which I tried just for fun, and it’s STUNNING! I immediately ordered it online. Just a beauty.

Deborah S. Avatar

Haul: Where to start!! Sephora: I think in all I have placed 6 orders of which only 3 have been delivered. I picked up another Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic and Retinol Eye Serum, Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser, Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon Gift Set, Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim Refillable Lip in I Hide My,
Tom Ford Lip in Black Dahlia, YSL Lip Stain in Burgundy Vibes, YSL Dazzling in Prune Ave, Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Dazzling Lights Edition Lipstick – Holiday Kiss Collection in Rose Stiletto, Sephora Favorites Hydrated Coils, Nude Stix Creator Palette Lippies, Sunday Riley Tidal. I also placed an order for a Temptalia follower, CeeBee which only part has been received. I will be mailing her the remainder as soon as it arrives.

Weekend plans: Not much. I fell down a few days ago and have been stiff and sore and not able to do much of anything. I was showing my ex-husbands cousin a local waterfall and the last 6-10 feet are steep and I wasn’t wearing the appropriate shoes. I was confidant I could do it as I have so many times before but there were wet leaves and the path is narrow with granite rocks on each side. The next thing I knew I was slipping and fell down on my left side. I have lacerations and abrasions over my left arm, hip, thigh and knees. I was so incredibly lucky that I didn’t hit my head, fall into the water or over the waterfall as the path comes down right at the point the waterfall starts its spill. So, staying home and resting up is the plan for the weekend.

Deborah S. Avatar

I think I subconsciously hit submit before answering the personality question. I am not sure what part of my personality I like. My family would say I am bossy and opinionated, which I am. Years of being an RN and having to take charge and get things done has honed that part of my personality. I am very empathetic but my friends and family don’t see that in me. Nurses walk a fine line between being too empathetic and frequently unable to function as a nurse and then being too cold and “uncaring”. Most of us manage to maintain our professionalism while in the public and do our crying in private. That is not to say that I don’t sometimes cry with patients and family but it is my job to be able to function and do what needs to be done and to provide them with the strength that they might not have at that time. Overall, I am happy with my personality. I do tend to procrastinate when I have to do things that I don’t really want to do and that is my least favorable personality trait.

CeeBee Avatar

Ouch!!!!

I’m so glad to hear that you’re OK! I hope you get lots of rest and heal up soon – your Chosungah 22 and Whittakers bars are on the way so hopefully they cheer you up some when they arrive 🙂

Deborah S. Avatar

I am making a slow recovery. Thank you for your concern, Chris. It is always worse a few days after the incident as muscles and ligaments begin to tighten up. It has given me a few headaches with the muscles in my shoulder and back acting up but there isn’t any lasting damage. I still haven’t received your package from Sephora yet although at least it is showing that it is processing finally. It has said “pending” for days now but finally clicked over so hopefully will receive shortly. I will let you know when I have it.

Deborah S. Avatar

Thank you, Genevieve. I do try to be a good person. You are genuinely the most caring and sweetest person.
I consider myself very lucky to have had relatively minor damage from my fall. I have a particular form of migraines called Vestibular Migraines and they manifest in many different ways. One of the most difficult issues is poor balance that my neurologist tells me will only get worse as I continue to age. I have fallen 3 times this year already and this one was particularly scary. I was not very smart and just thought I could do it. In my head I think I am still 35 and it always shocks me when I realize I am no where near that age anymore. My daughter is always telling me to be more careful but I am not ready to give up and spend my days sitting in a rocking chair, LOL. She is right though, if I want to do these things I have to be smarter about it. Thank you again.

Genevieve Avatar

One of my cousins has those kind of migraines and they can be quite debilitating. I guess the issue is when we age that we be realistic about assessing the walking paths and wear the right shoes. I know since I have gotten older I have chosen comfort and stability in my shoes over glamour.
I hope you are feeling better today.
Thank you for your kind words.

Anna Avatar

Debora, you sound like an incredible person from your temptalia posts. Just the things you do for your family: hosting your ex husband, things you do for your daughter – they are so profound! I think it is reall extraordinary.

CeeBee Avatar

Haul: Got my Colourpop order, so GSoM & Semi-Precious palettes, the Amber bundle, Ambush lip colour, UD Eden eyeshadow primer, ChiChi Amazonian Goddess palette (like I need MORE eyeshadows, LOL!), Mecca DeLushious Lip Protectant, Wet n Wild gel nail colour in Stay Classy and the Cover FX Perfect Highlighting palette, which I haven’t even touched yet.

Weekend plans: As little as possible, just domestic stuff and life administration.

Fave part of personality: I’m very straight-forward, I say what I mean and I mean what I say. For some reason, this seems to surprise/perplex some people… an example: My boss, who I have known for 15 years asked me in a meeting about something I had to fix (a particularly long and complex task), which I had already completed and told him that I had done so. I said, “Yeah, its done.” and he looks really surprised and then (in front of everyone) starts asking me real basic step by step process stuff to make sure, I dunno, that I’d actually done it properly, which yeah, I did all that and I TOLD YOU TWICE NOW THAT I DID IT ALREADY and I’m nodding away and then he goes “So you’ve finished it already? And it’s working again? You fixed it?” and I’m still nodding (because apparently me saying the actual words out loud more than once has no affect on his ability to hear?!?!) and then there’s this big silence and everyone is staring at me trying to figure out if I maybe lied about it or he’s somehow misunderstood my meaning or whatever and I wait about 3 beats and then say “Did I f***ing stutter?” and everyone just lost it completely. He very graciously apologised afterwards but I still don’t understand it…

Genevieve Avatar

Sweet dreams, beautiful Mellon!
Haul: For Christmas, I am starting to put together a ‘beauty bag’ for my daughter in law of all of her favourite products: so far I have ordered (and it has arrived) two Clarins Jolie Rouge lipsticks in Coral Tulip and Petal pink; mascara (Rimmel Scandeleyes). I am adding foundation, when she tests and chooses one, plus skincare products – Swisse Argon Oil, cleansing towelettes that she favours, moisturisers etc.
For me – two Elizabeth Arden lipsticks arrived for my birthday on 20th
Ordered the Clarins 03 Natural brown eyeshadow quad.

Weekend plans: Saturday – housework and preparing salads for Sunday
On Sunday our whole family (including the grandchildren) are going up to my twin sister’s brother in law’s farm (if that makes sense) to celebrate two things – our birthday and an early Christmas. Normally we celebrate Christmas all together, but this year plans have changed. My sister’s brother in law has two grand children the same age as ours so it will be lovely seeing all the little ones at the farm.
I am making all the salads, hence the cooking day on Saturday.
Hopefully it won’t be too hot as summer has arrived here well and truly.

Favourite part of your personality: I am told by my friends and family that I am really kind and calm in a crisis. I like to help others. I also have a positive attitude in life.

Tracey E. Avatar

Happy Birthday to you and your twin sister, Genevieve! I’m a twin, too, and cherish the moments we have together. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and Christmas celebration with your family.

ShariP Avatar

I finally received one of my Sephora orders, but I’ll post about it next week. I have something more important and heavier on my heart.

Some dear friends of ours lost their beautiful daughter this week after a short fight against a particularly agressive breast cancer. She was 30 years old and leaves a wonderful husband and 4 children. Last month was breast cancer awareness month and even though I work in a cancer center I never bothered to say anything here to encourage readers to get their mammograms. For that I’m sorry. Mammograms are still the best way to identify early breast cancer. I urge those who are women to get that mammogram we find so easy to put off. If you have family members that have had breast cancer you are at higher risk. For those readers who are male, it’s a good time to get a testicular exam. Do it for those who love you.
~Shari

Genevieve Avatar

A great message Shari. One of my girlfriends had a mammogram recently and it showed up a problem. Quick as a flash she had a biopsy and it was a cancerous growth. She had it removed and underwent radium treatment as well. Without the mammogram indicating a small problem, it would have been a much bigger problem by the time she or her doctor noticed it.

I am sorry for the loss of your friends’ daughter. Only 30, with a husband and four children, such a hard situation. One of the psychiatrists I work with has a similar situation: three children still in grade school and they just found out her cancer has metastasized to her brain over the summer. Too much sadness for a family to have to bear.

So sorry to hear about your friend’s loss. OMG, 30 is way too young and 4 kids left behind, it’s too much. But thanks for the important reminder – my aunt-in-law came down with breast cancer, but fortunately, they caught it early with a mammogram, and she now fully recovered, but she had 2 young girls at that time, so was very scary situation.

Haul: None, I’m on a low-buy but later I want to run to (gasp!) Target and look at their new stuff in the line called Profusion. Cheep cheep. There’s a cool-toned (more gasp!) eyeshadow palette I may get.

Weekend plans: Other than a quick trip to Target & the grocery store, I’m staying home and taking care of my sick cat. He has chronic urinary issues with cystitis and blockages, despite mega-surgery a couple of years ago. He’s on a couple of Rxs today and is in space-kitty-land with the opioid painkiller and plenty of catnip. 🙁

Favorite part of my personality: I like that I can be alone and quiet for much of the time without being bored or lonely.

Haul: Nothing, ha! All of my orders mentioned last week have either come in or are still en route.

Weekend plans: The usual – cleaning, cooking, laundry. Maybe a winery and lunch – I want to get a few bottles for gifts and pick up some new favorites for my Dad.

What’s your favorite part of your personality?: My gut instincts and being self-reliant.
