  • Weekend plans: Try to stay cool! It’s getting to triple digits here in AZ! We’ll also head over to Phoenix to go to one of our favorite restaurants (Clever Koi).
  • Do you like theme parks?: I like Disneyland as I’m just a big fan of Disney (I think I’m almost as happy going to the Disney store, though, haha), but I’m not big on rollercoasters as I get motion sick very easily, which can wipe me out for an entire day.

Weekend plans: I have a haircut appointment scheduled in the morning. Afterward, I’ll probably browse around Ulta and TJ Maxx. The rest of my weekend depends on the weather – they’re calling for thunderstorms.

Do you like theme parks?: I used to but haven’t gone in years.

I’m rethinking who I order from. Sephora still has not complied with my State Tax Dept. and it’s a pain to submit the overages monthly to my State to get a refund check. Plus if you subtract the tax they charge me, it only leaves an 8% discount – I can get better than that using deal codes with other retailers who charge no tax at all. The only items I plan on ordering from them going forward are ones I can only get there and/or early releases (like the UD) that I really want/feel like I don’t want to wait for (Sephora is always 1 day shipping to me).

Out of my Sephora buys, Acrylick is the weakest but it’s still good. The formula is a bit thin so it’s more prone to sheer out, although does not seem to gather in lip lines. I just typically prefer more of an opaque gloss.

Mellan – I bet you’re snoring! 🙂

Haul:
Sephora 15% off sale: Mostly re-stocking things:
MUFE Setting Spray.I know I’ve had more than a dozen bottles of this! Still love it.

Viseart Mini Pro Palette. This will remain unopened and will be returned because of Chanel quad (below) will take it’s place. (I will return it, right? Anyone talk me into keeping it? 🙂 )

BITE Beauty Sour Cherry and Gold Lipstick. This was on sale and in the sale so I picked it up. The gold side broke the second I touched it to my lips. Love the colors. Hope to exchange.

Living Proof Frizz:large sized shampoo, conditioner, styling cream.

Shiseido Facial Cotton x2

Chanel Codes Elegante Quad: Our very own Tammy tells me that she loves this quad as much as Empreinte du Desert. That was my sense from being so drawn to the colors and textures that usually work so well for me. This time I’m not waiting a year! It is still in transit, so I will report back.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. I’m hoping this will help puffiness, especially with goggle face after swimming. I’ve only tried it for two days. Jury out. Still waiting to be impressed.

Skindinavia Setting Spray.WG hawks this and recommends so highly I thought I would give it a try as my MUFE spray was running low. Do not like this at all. Anyone want it?

Weekend plans: Swimming, pups, rally again in the city tomorrow, feet up on Sunday.

Do you like theme parks?: No, I do not. I do not like theme or amusement parks at all. Add circuses to that list too. I’ve never been to Disney, didn’t even want to go as a kid. Still don’t. Many people think that’s weird. But it is what it is. 🙂

Linda Avatar

Hi Christine!

I use the pads for the P50 toner. I picked them up on a whim in the checkout line at Sephora (those displays can be trouble). Once I tried them, I fell in love. So soft, they make me happy every time I use them. It’s the little things. 🙂

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Nice haul! The Viseart differs from the Chanel in that it has a mix of finishes and is multi-tonal whereas the Chanel focuses on gold and is a shimmer palette. Not trying to talk you into doing one thing or another, I just feel they’re different palettes – so it really depends on how you intend to use them. Hope you can exchange the Bite lippie. It’s a really nice duo and since I feel like it’s also eye safe, the gold side works fab as an accent for an eye look. Sorry the Skindinavia spray didn’t work out. Oooh, I also love the Shiseido cotton! I either buy those of the Paul & Joe cotton. The Shiseido is softer than the P&J but the P&J is a bit sturdier for removing hard to remove product.

Linda Avatar

Hi Michele!

You are right, they are totally different. Of that I am sure. When I opened the Viseart Petit, I really liked it, then thought “I can dupe this *close enough* with what I have.” Or can I? LOL. I’m going to spend some time this weekend comparing.

Love your IG feed. Never spent much time on the site until I started being addicted to the swatches. 🙂

Pearl Avatar

Shoot – read your comment wrong, Linda. I didn’t see where you said you didn’t like it and only saw ‘anyone want it’ thinking you were asking if anyone else was interested in the product or what/why we liked it.

Linda Avatar

I forgot one thing. I got on the Sephora Sale..replaced Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. The last one I bought was in early 2015, so I guess it lasts me a while.

I really like this product. I use it on days when I think my makeup looks more dry or powdery than it should. A few sprays, and problem solved.

Haul: Sephora VIB came in yesterday.
Skyn Iceland Detox Kit for Stressed Skin.

Bite Beauty The Perfect Pair Amuse Bouche Lipstick Sets Meringue/Fig & Rhubarb/Thistle.

Weekend plans: Finished my dress at 1am this morning for Costume-Con and working on my wig for it before leaving at Noon. Happy weekend everyone because I’ll be offline till Monday eveneing. 😉

Do you like theme parks? I like Dieney World when I was 8 but that’s the only one I’ve gone too. 🙂

Monica Avatar

Haul: I haven’t decided on what to buy with my 20% coupon…2 days left haha

Weekend plans: Going to VT for the first time! Weird how I’ve never gone here before. I’m also hitting up a cherry blossom festival close by.

Do you like theme parks?: I haven’t been to one in several years, but my family is planning on a Disney trip for next year.

Katherine T. Avatar

Tickle, tickle, Mellan 🙂
*Big haul this week, since I got 15% off at Sephora +4% cash back
*Viseart Amethyst Palette – I’ve only swatched on my bare arms with no primer, #1 light matte pink was weak but maybe ok with primer, but #2 and #3 swatched much better than yours and were buildable with 2 swipes, and #4, #5, and #6 were great, gorgeous! I haven’t tested on my oily lids yet, but I’m very happy with the colors and the quality. Based on feedback from readers, I think there are QC issues, with some batches better than others.
*MAC x Justin Skye Iridescent Powder -WOWWW!!! Mine is a not as dark or plummy looking as yours, and it looks like it has 5x more pigment. It’s a pinky purple violet, it’s very pigmented with a luminous finish, just stunning! I have 10 purple blushes and no close dupes, so very pleased. It is very densely packed just like yours, but I had no trouble picking up pigment with a regular blush brush. I do agree it’s harder to blend out, and since it’s so pigmented, suggest using a bigger softer brush, or starting light and building up. And over primer and foundation, the color lasted +12 hrs, which is amazing, since blushes usually disappear after 2-3 hours on me. Very very happy 🙂 But I do think there are batch differences, as another reader’s product was cooler , lighter, and pinker than mine
*KVD Everlasting Lip Liner in L.U.V. – The violet purple color is a 95-99% match for MAC Heroine lipstick, an even better match than Heroine lipliner, which runs more pink. I’ve only swatched on my lips, but not tested for wear yet. It’s pigmented and smooth, it’s perfectly fine for outlining the lips, but when I used it to fill in my lips, was too drying. But I only use lipliners to outline, so no big deal. Glad I got on sale, as it’s pricey for small amount of product, but it’s a more unique color, I have many purple lip liners, and none are dupes.
*KVD Lock-It-Tattoo Foundation in 45N and 47N – I got samples and tested for 2 weeks, really love the full coverage, easy to blend with warm fingertips over moisturized face. 47N is an almost perfect color match but I also got 1 shade lighter, since I’m paler some days. My fave used to be the Marc Jacobs re(Marc)able Full Coverage, but it’s not getting along with my new sunscreen, so I had to switch foundations.
*Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Smoothing Face Primer with SPF20 –like this a lot. Not too light or too heavy, has SPF, and works well with the KVD foundation
*Drunk Elephant La La Retro Cream -haven’t tested out yet but curious about the hype
*Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil–a staple, for my dry ends
*Sephora Collection 5-in-1 sharpener — 1 sharpener with 5 different sized holes, got great reviews online, so decided to go for it
*Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover-a staple
*Peter Thomas Roth Professional 3% Retinoid – deluxe sample, haven’t tried yet
*Surratt empty blush case -finally caved but if it’s not good, will return
*Weekend – family lunch at restaurant to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday, play with all my new makeup
*Theme Parks – yes, they are fun
*Christine, this week, I noticed that I wasn’t being notified by email when you replied to my comments, but when I select the button below “Join the conversation via an occasional email”, I occasionally get notified when others reply to you, so strange. Is there a way to turn back on notification when you or another reader replies to me?

Christine Avatar

I’m glad all your products are performing better than mine! I’d rather receive the terrible versions than you.

We had to remove the prior comment notification plugin, as it failed for activation and there were no fixes (not maintained by us). The new plugin will send replies to your comments and then occasional emails for additional comments as they come in.

Tracey E. Avatar

Hi Christine, you solved a mystery for me. Like Katherine, I’ve been receiving a slew of e-mails with what must be a “summary” of responses to threads where I’ve left a comment though not in response to a comment that I specifically made. I’ve unsubscribing to these e-mails. Like Katherine, my preference would be to receive notification to responses to my comments. I know that’s not possible with the current plugin, so just providing feedback.

Christine Avatar

I’m very sorry – there’s not a way to do that as it is not our plugin, and we already spent 36 hours trying to make another plug-in work for something similar, which ultimately blew up in my face instead. I’m so sorry again. It sounds like maybe we will remove the feature altogether and there will just not be notifications at all. Thank you for your feedback!

Nicole D Avatar

Same thing mentioned by Katherine and Tracey E happened to me Christine.
Also, the images or list of the items mentioned in your personal haul for the Sephora Sale do not show up on my screen; instead I see three red dots that show up in sequence (hope I make sense). The images however show up on Apple devices but not on my Surface Pro.

Nicole D Avatar

Thanks for the reply Christine ! I don’t see the “Reply” button under your answer re widget so I will write here.
I’ve just checked and it works with Firefox (I see the images) and on the Apple devices. It does not work with my Explorer version 11. I will use Firefox next time when I can’t see the images..

Katherine T. Avatar

*Update- Viseart Amethyst palette looks like BIG winner! Wore the 3 shimmers yesterday, the shimmer is so well done that I didn’t have to add a matte, they lasted 12 hrs on my oily lids. There was some minor fallout in beginning, but easily swept away with q tip. Tried all 6 shades today, the mattes applied smoothly and were easily buildable to 80-100% opaque, with the dark matte purple having great pigment, but the other 2 mattes were fine, they make very nice crease, transition, or blending shades. It was a very beautiful gradient purple eye look, nice mix of shimmers./mattes, dark/lights. It’s SO hard to find a decent shadow purple kit, so I wanted to add in my 2 cents, in case readers want to pick it up, as it’s still on sale at Sephora for 10-15% off. I definitely think there are some QC batch issues, as readers’s reports are mixed, but Sephora has a great return or exchange policy.

Haul: I made a LUSH order!! 😀

I got The Refresher shower jelly. It smells like a fresh cut lemon. I figured it’d be good for summer! I got Wash behind your ears shower gel, It’s Freesia, Rose, and Jasmine scented as described by LUSH. But it’s a very GREEN/GRASSY scent. Not at all floral IMO. I still like the green/plant-y scent of it. So I’m happy at least!

I also got One of the Chocolate Egg/Chocolate Orange scented bars of soap, and two of the Chocolate Orange scented lip scrubs. The bar of soap and one of the lip scrubs are a surprise for my Mama! It’s her fathers birthday soon. And she’s sad so i figured I’d buy her some chocolate stuff to cheer her up!

I got a replacement/new bottle of my Prescription acne medication (I’m on Tactupump Forte, which is 2.5%)

And I’m debating if the Sephora %15 off is worth buying a 2 ounce bottle of my new favourite sun block from Shisiedo. I got a sample of the Blue one, and the white bottle one. And I’m in LOVE. The 15% off is like what @Warpaint and Unicorns said. We pay 13% tax here, so It’s basically a tax free purchase for us!!

Weekend plans: My best friend is home from University. And i’m in desperate need of a change, so she’s going to cut my hair (she trims it every 4 months usually) from my hip bones to my shoulders!!!! I’m so nervous. But I’m excited!! After the cancer scare, my tumor, I’m craving change!! 😀

Do I like Amusement parks: HECK YES. My favourite one, Canada’s Wonderland has the biggest coaster in canada there!!!!! 😀

Mariella Avatar

Shannon, if I recall correctly, you’re in Canada. Every Thursday is “Seniors’ Day” at Shoppers Drug Mart so if your mom or an aunt or friend can go with you, you will get 20% off AND you can pay for the rest or part of the rest with Optimum Points. It’s a total “win/win”.

Shannon. N Avatar

I can always count on the lovely Canadian Temptalia readers! Goodness.

I got a optimum card this year, because we FINALLY got one of the big fancy shoppers in my town, so I’ll totally do just what you two said!

Thank you both times a million 😀

Tracey E. Avatar

Shannon, once you have shorter hair, you may never go back. The cut sounds perfect for summer (it will be here one day)! Enjoy time with your best friend!

Shannon. N Avatar

Thank you so much for the encouragement Tracey!!! 😀

When I was a younger (around freshmen year of highschool) I had a short bob and straight bangs. And my best friend always said i looked like a little doll with my chubby cheeks. ahaha

It was SEVEN and raining here today. One day our summer will come 😛

Haul: I am not going to talk about my Sephora haul until next week to give me time to try everything. Right before the sale I did pick up two Sephora Favorites Give me Some Lip and Liner kits because they were on clearance for 50% off. One will be for me, one for a gift, and I may not use these products for months so I probably won’t be reporting back on them. I also got the Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Flawless Finish Face Powder in medium 2. It’s a nice powder, but not life-changing. I will definitely have no problem using it. For those of you that are cooler in tone, this powder has a yellow undertone.

Plans: Gym, cook, work at the Lancôme counter on Sunday.

I LOVE theme parks! I grew up just a short ride away from Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm, I used to go all the time. One of my favorite memories was riding the city bus with a girlfriend to Disneyland on a rainy week day, and having the whole park to ourselves. We literally got off the rides, ran through the line, and got right back on! Now Disneyland is so popular that on a rainy week day probably there would still be an hour or two line, but this was over 30 years ago, back in the “good ole days.”

Alicia Avatar

Love the Mellan pic!

Haul:
-Kat von D tattoo liner and Everlasting lip in Bow n Arrow (both for a friend)
–Bite Prismatic Gloss in Rose Pearl (I kind of want Oyster, too…)
-Bite Agave Lip Mask (backup)
-Belif Moisturizing Bomb (two of them, for my husband)
-Anastasia 4-pan palettes (three, as they are $1 a piece! I have one I got with four Anastasia singles, and they fit Makeup Geek singles perfectly!)
-Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation – just okay to me….need to try application with a beauty blender
-Wet n Wild mascara (in purple tube)
-Flowerbomb perfume (finally! I have wanted it for a while…got it through a scent sampler certificate)

I might pick up Belif Aqua Bomb for myself to try, the Prismatic lip gloss in Oyster, and more Anastasia palettes. Also thinking of picking up the Urban Decay Vice Blackmail lipstick/liner duo…my Give Me Some Lip and Liner order only had one of the two I had ordered, and they didn’t have any stock to replace my missing one (I had one for a gift, one for myself) so I think I deserve some lip stuff!! That’s happened to me twice with Sephora orders in the past few months…has anyone else had wrong orders with them?

Alicia Avatar

I always forget the other part…tonight I have a friend’s birthday (the one getting the Sephora Lip and Liner set!), Saturday I might hang out with a friend, and Sunday I fly to Los Angeles for four days on the west coast (first time!). It’s been a nice trip back home so far!
I LOVE theme parks, ESPECIALLY Disney World!!! I could live there.

Miradan Avatar

Haul: Sephora Rouge Cream lipsticks in The Nudest and Whirls, plus I managed to get one of the UD Basquiat lipsticks, in Abstract; Clinique Take the Day Off; Estee Lauder Daywear Moisturizer; UD Ozone Primer Pencil.

Weekend plans: local March for Science tomorrow; a jogathon for my daughter’s school on Sunday; plus hopefully some time to cook and to go to the gym a couple times.

Theme parks: Not really. I recently told my daughter that the odds that her parents would ever take her to Disney are small, since neither of us like theme parks. She seemed okay with that, but we’ll see what happens once her cousins go to Disney in Florida later this summer.

MacKenzie G. Avatar

Haul: The only thing I’ve picked up in weeks (on a no-buy) is the Youth to the People Age Prevention Superfood Eye Cream from the VIB sale. Super excited to try it!

Weekend plans: My boyfriend is visiting all the way from Chicago (I’m in southern Ohio) and I haven’t seen him in months, so we’ll be spending most of our time together.

Theme parks: I like Disney and Universal, but that’s mostly for the content rather than the fact that it’s a park. I don’t really like or dislike rollercoasters.

AB Avatar

Haul — Just now, my Viseart Theory Nuance palette has arrived. Yay! First ‘swatches’ (fingertip run-over): lovely colors!, not spotting fallout risk but perhaps not as rich-feeling texture as my Minx palette but minimally so — I’ll make it work. Otherwise, nothing; have been too busy this week at work to shop.

Weekend — low key, the usuals: supplies shopping, pilates/gym, cleaning out from the busy week. Sunday I’m aiming to get to a vintage glass sale at nearby town (love using antique glasses for my make up brushes and the like).

Theme parks — I’ve never particularly enjoyed. Don’t know why.

(Mellan reminds me of a quote I read somewhere… something like happiness is relaxing in the ease of one’s own body)

Alice Avatar

Haul: Urban Decay Anatomy eye liner (from the Basquiat collection), Amika undone texture spray, and a 250pt perk deluxe mini of Dior poison girl perfume from the Sephora sale. I also got some solid lotion bars from a friend who does small batch handmade skin care, but they’re both stuck in the containers so I’ll have to melt them a little to get them out 🙂

Weekend plans: yard work, work on the kitchen, find an electronics dump that will take our old window a/c. Also we had to push back closing on the townhouse to May 15th, so at least I don’t have to start packing quite yet!

Do you like theme parks? Yes and no. I enjoy roller coasters and other “thrill rides,” but I don’t like how they price gouge you for everything, and it’s often really hot with no shade waiting in super long lines for a 1 minute ride (and little to no accommodation for people with chronic illness/pain who are not wheelchair bound).

Dustin Avatar

I actually bought stuff this week so I’m going to participate in this for the first time in almost a year I think?! Crazy!

Haul: Small selection from Sephora’s sale (15% just isn’t enough to sway me very much LoL). Verb shampoo and conditioner and styling paste (I like their styling products, they smell kind of like lipstick to me haha). A vanilla perfume that ended up being too sweet (looking for one that’s straight-up vanilla and not SO sugary), a couple lipsticks and I think that’s it. That purple LE face powder from MAC arrived (I’d forgotten I pre-ordered it). Also bought some new bedding – sheets, pillows, etc.

Weekend plans: The cement crew is here today pouring the new patios and walkways so I don’t think anyone will be doing much outside until that sets! Exciting tho! Jeff and I need to finalize wedding invitations and send them out ASAP so that’s my only weekend plan right now!

Do you like theme parks?: No! When I was a kid my parents actually asked me if I wanted to go to Disneyland (because they thought it was probably the thing to do when you have a child). I think I said something like “do I have to?” LOL I never liked rides… or people for that matter! Haha! As a kid I hated crowds and dreaded field trips when we would all be out of the classroom. I liked my routine of “leave me alone, I’m going to go draw now.” LOL

Dustin Avatar

Thank! I will keep that in mind 🙂 Nothing exciting on the bedding just new colors (burnt orange) and new sheets. New pillows cause it’s time. I try to get new pillows at least once – if not twice – a year. Just so they stay fresh.

Dustin Avatar

Haha yup! Same here! Even today. I went to Disneyland once in my 20s with a friend who was REALLY into it and had been dozens of times. I mostly just wanted to leave and go shopping (that trip I maxed out a card at Gucci but again… I was in my 20s haha).

Nancy T Avatar

Tummy rubs to Mellan!!! I can see that he loves his double bed! ?

Haul: My Sephora Rouge order is due to arrive today. I bought refills of Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic & Retinol eye serum, and Ole Henrikson Truth Serum. Plus one goody: KVD K-Dub ELL! Also some point rewards, the SK-II one and the orange perfume. Picked up Bite Lip Creme in Peacock yesterday. It looks bad@$$ over UD Disturbed Vice Lipstick!

Weekend plans: Everything is back on schedule pretty much…so just doing my hair blowout tomorrow and meeting on Sunday. Seriously considering getting several inches lopped off this mop and some long layers cut into it.

Do you like theme parks: Yes, but haven’t been to one since my kids lived home. Last time we went was to AZ’s one & only; Castles & Coasters.

Christine Avatar

I love hearing how many people have received or are about to receive their Sephora orders! That’s so fast, IMO, given the sale!

I actually JUST scheduled a hair cut appointment for two hours from now. Literally my second hair cut in AZ, and I’ve been here almost 2 years now, lol.

Nancy T Avatar

Crazy fast even without them applying Flash; I received my package shortly after leaving my FFH comment! LOVE KVD K-Dub! Have had it on since around 12:30, still there. ?

I hear you on the hair cutting! My last professional haircut was over 7 years ago, but then after being put on some serious meds for my Crohn’s, I had massive hair loss and wore wigs for a year and a half until I had enough of my own. I’ve been giving it trims on the ends. But twice it got nearly waist length, both times I trimmed it strap length. I would like it just past my shoulders.

Elle Jaye Avatar

Haul: I ordered a ton of products from The Ordinary from Beautylish. I am hoping to revamp my skincare routine with more specialized products for my finicky skin. I am the most excited to try the serums that I ordered-The Vitamin C suspension one and the one with Niacinamide and Zinc. I also ordered the Becca Luminous Blush in Foxglove after going back and forth about it several times. I also restocked my Bioderma and Parian Spirit brush cleanser. From Sephora, only wanted the Gimme Some Nude Lip set and a restock of my Benefit Hello Flawless powder since the weather has warmed up in the South. The 100 pt perks were pretty good so I got three of those: The Kat Von D liquid lip in LoveSick, An Atelier Cologne, and a Ren skincare product. From Hautelook, I ordered a few of the Tarteist lip paints and a restock of my Macadamia Hair products. From Nordstrom, I picked up the Mario Badescu Flower and Tonic mask and couple of the Mac In Extra Dimension blushes. I LOVE Fairly Precious as a highlighter and Hard to Get as blush topper. Overall, pretty decent haul this week. Pretty excited to read what everyone else got.

Weekend Plans: My seasonal overhaul and purge of my makeup and clothing. There is an 100% of rain in the forecast where I live so that along with Netflix will keep me plenty busy.

Theme Parks: I like the idea of theme parks! But I just don’t like the idea of making myself scared or nervous on purpose lol. But I do enjoy going with others.

MoMerrell Avatar

Haul: I picked up a Bare Minerals powder which is the wrong color so I am going back to get the right color. That’s it. I’ve spent more than I should anyhow on makeup but I was utilizing the 15% off. In the past month I’ve gotten a few things:

ABH lip gloss in Tara (FAVE everydayer)
ABH Modern Renaissance Palette (I’m not really sold on it – the fall out is INSANE)
Murad mini moisturizing set with Boscia clay sponge (both has broken me out, I tried one more time yesterday after waiting a few days without using anything to see what made me break out and I tried last night and can’t confirm which one of the two it was so I am for sure scrapping the Murad and holding on the boscia sponge to use with my aveeno face wash to see if that helps.) My face was red and burning like a son of bish…..UGH

•Weekend plans: Write. Write. and Write. I am bit depressed, been crying a lot lately and miserable at work. I need to write because it helps to heal my at the moment broken spirit. The weather is nice here in MN but I do not plan on leaving the house really. I’d prefer to just be left alone this weekend.

•Do you like theme parks?: I hate theme parks mainly because I dislike being around a lot of people like that. I love the rides and games but I am impatient so the waiting gets aggravating however depending on the park and who I am with I can manage to have a good time but generally I wouldn’t go on purpose like by myself i’d have to have kids with me.

Linda Avatar

Hi Mo!

I agree on the ABH Renaissance palette. When others swoon over it, I feel like I do a head tilt like a Labrador Retriever say think, “whu?” The fallout is miserable. I returned that one.

Sorry you’re struggling, I really am. Work misery of one of life’s greatest stresses. I know I let the a-holes rent space in my head for far too long. Life just sometimes plain old sucks. All I can say is that the wheel turns, and the cycle will end. Waiting for relief is the hard part. xoxo

AB Avatar

Mo, sorry to hear of your tough time at work. Been there — it’s really tough. Hope you can find something this weekend that feeds your soul so you feel less obliterated when you head back into the fray

Maybe I’ll follow Tammy’s lead an report after trying. Ulta: 2 Cosrx, 2 butter London and that’s it. Done far more than from S, until the sale. Idk how you can jump from zero to half way to rouge 1 w/ 1 instore and 1 online, but there you go. The BL palette for eyes has that feeling of one discordant color (the COTY, greenery.) I put it on the lid, with the lighter mauve as crease, the obvious browbone, and the darker green in the outer v. Works. Also got the Just Darling blush, which is far more cool friendly than the other choice. Goes great with Do Me Baby. Those on today. Other, Sephora in-store, a couple of Nars RCC, not totally sold, but the honey seems acceptable. A darker one for summer. The highlighting palette. Very nice. Even over blushes you might think would not go. Dirty Mind: not earth shattering, as I have near dupes, but it’s decent, and varies in finish from most dupes. The bite set. Love gelato, anyway. Cashew is far warmer. Think this would only be for light to mediums. Cashew works better on eyes and lips than gelato…my conception was primarily as a cheek color, anyway. Surprisingly, had no difficulty as an eye product. Seriously. Must be the ‘underproducts.’ It usually goes the other way, that the cream shadow clashes with your underproducts, and breaks up. Happy surprise. Very neutral and understated. 2x FAB triple duty, one as a gift. Succumbed to Lorac brunch a while ago. Good enough, and never scored kvd or any other current pastels. Liking BM Bare Sensuals, a pinky/Taupey/ purple 12er. Prob not the best of Ready, but very cool friendly. What I have to work on is concealer, bec my old glasses broke (probably Jussi) and I can’t use the new ones for close-up, so off they come. My sensitivities leave out shape tape, and I got 2 Nars RCC, but think I’ll score some YSL touche eclat before the sale’s end. Need five arsenals for mixing, etc. using Becca (my only Becca) as the brightened. It’s a never ending search to look better, that’s for sure. And, Thanks, Michele/binxcat. Your swatches are becoming indispensable, though you do increase the WL!

Sephora – restock of Sunday Riley Luna and Good Genes, Marc Jacobs lip glosses in Make Me and Supa Dupa Fly (had to cancel my direct order with Marc Jacobs after three shipments of the wrong color – customer service is fantastic; the warehouse needs work!), Tom Ford Lips and Boys in Elliot and Cream Cheek Color in Paradiso – I failed to resist this temptation. Everything has shipped amazingly fast from Sephora, with the exception of Paradiso which I put in yesterday. It hasn’t shipped yet, so I probably won’t have that until Monday or Tuesday, but everything else has been here in one or two days max.

Weekend Plans: playing it by ear mostly, but watching playoff hockey every night.

Theme Parks: Yes, if I’m with the right group.

Haul:

Oh lord I’m almost a little ashamed of my haul. Purchased nearly the entire Drunk Elephant line (literally everything except the sunscreen and eye cream) in hopes of it helping my skin. Also purchased the duo from Sunday Riley that had good genes and luna oil, but the luna oil spilled and Sephora refunded me (I can’t use luna anyway because it has avocado oil, which I’m allergic to so I was going to gift it to someone). Purchased GA luminous silk foundation finally, Also restocked lots of my go-to’s such as JM Argan Oil, Nars eye primer, Benefit Stay don’t stray, fresh soy face cleanser, etc.

Also got a lovely gift from my boyfriend: Viseart Warm Mattes Palette (still eh about this, the quality is lovely but the colors are dupable) and the Too Faced Ray of Light highlighter-LOVE THIS but I prefer subtle highlights and not the “blinding” highlight trend.

Weekend plans: Relaxing for once. Passed the MPRE (the ethical exam you have to pass before you take the bar-Christine I’m sure you went through this when you were in school) with enough points to take the bar in any state I want so I deserve a break!

Theme parks-Love them, hate rollercoasters. Too queasy for my sensitive stomach

Laurel Avatar

I have really extremely dry, sensitive, acne prone skin and have tried (what feels like) everything under the sun so far. I like that Drunk Elephant doesn’t use any essential oils in their products-a huge irritant in products for me and a lot of other people. I also like that their products don’t degrade as quickly (minus the vitamin c serum of course but that can’t be helped) because of their air- and light-tight packaging. Their products don’t skimp on the ingredients though, and their glycolic serum has 12% (!!) AHA/BHA yet hasn’t burned or irritated my skin at all. That’s magic if you asked me. Lastly, I just love the dedication to keeping a lot of yucky ingredients out of their skincare (no alcohol in anything-yay!)

Tammy B Avatar

Congratulations on passing the MPRE!

What a great haul! I want the Sunday Riley set so badly but im trying to control myself. I’ve already purchased too much this month and need to reign it in.

Mariella Avatar

Haul: only the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself palette. In many ways, it was a very frivolous purchase (even for makeup) but I love some of the colours so much that I’m glad I have it. I got a few really nice REN samples when I bought it, and I’m liking trying them. So far, I’ve not made it to the VIB sale and I’m not sure I’ll even have the time because….

Weekend plans: my younger son comes home from uni for the last time (before heading out again to Asia for 2 months and then to wherever he ends up working after that). So the weekend will be getting him settled back in, however temporarily, and dealing with all his “stuff” – honestly, we have a large basement and most of it is full of kid “stuff” from our 3 as young adults…on the move, storing stuff here, leaving it here, replacing it with new stuff that then ends up here too. Anyone need a wok or 3? A couple of slow cookers? A few coffee grinders?

Theme parks: I don’t like noise, I don’t like crowds, I don’t like lining up or rubbish thrown on the ground 2 feet from a trash can. I don’t like crap food and I don’t like rides that push your stomach up into your throat. So, nope – I don’t like theme parks.

Erin Avatar

Haul: Oy, I’ve hauled so hard I’m almost ashamed. I went to Portland last weekend and hauled wine, food, and candles. Than this week at VIB, I hauled a large portion of the NARS X Charlotte Gainsbourg collection, they didn’t have all of it so I ended up getting Jeanette, both shadow duos, two glosses, and one liner. I’ll get the other liner, both lip crayons, and probably the skin tint. I also got CR Robin’s Masque I was raving about a few weeks back, DE C-Firma, and Bite glosses (rose, oyster, peacock) and a few samples/perks points. While it isn’t a lot of items, it was a whole lot of money, lol.

Weekend Plans: Recover from my 80 minutes pilates class, bbq with husbands work wife and her man, shop for food, and video games. I may also take a mini-hike with Elroy this afternoon. I’m pretty sore but it’s sunny for a change and he deserves a hike and swim.

Theme Parks: I used to a serious six flags junkie! I loved the rides. The last one I went to was in Germany, and it was more for kids than adults though I did go on several of the kiddie rides and the adult/older kid rides. I had a great time with my students (it was a school field trip) but I noticed that the shaking on the rides really hurt me. I didn’t know I had fibro at the time, but I think I might have to give up my coaster ways! I might tough it out for Harry Potter, though.

Erin Avatar

Elroy is doing alright, we still haven’t got the barfing under control 100%. He was doing well enough to have a sitter, so we decided to make the most of it.

I had fun in Portland, though I got food poisoning!

Tammy B Avatar

Erin, I am so excited about the NARS Charlotte G collection! I hope you’ll report back on your purchases after you’ve tried them out.

All the hauling sounds like it was good for your mental health. Sometimes we just have to celebrate and enjoy life. I am happy for you.

Erin Avatar

Thanks, Tammy! I had fun but I always feel bad about spending money on myself when it’s more than about $100 at a time. I didn’t get all the items I ordered in this go, Sephora actually didn’t send them all so customer service and I had a nice chat today. I’ve only tried Jeanette so far on the lips but it’s pretty good!

Erin Avatar

I thought so too but another Temptalia reader mentioned it was up. It wasn’t the whole thing, but I ordered what I could! It sold out very quickly 🙁

Sephora also screwed up my order and shorted me on the eyeliners.

Rachel R. Avatar

Haul: Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet. Four coordinated eyeshadows (brown, peaches, and a highlight) and Sinister Sprite Lip Shimmer.

Weekend plans: My older son is going to my BIL’s for the week, so we’ll be taking him to Eugene. I’m hoping to get to go out with my hubby Sunday.

Do you like theme parks?: Usually, but it depends on the park. I get motion sickness, too, so I’m not big on roller coasters, either. Oregon doesn’t really have many, so I don’t go to theme parks often. I’ve loved DisneyLand since I was a little girl, but haven’t been since 2008. 🙁

Deborah S. Avatar

Haul: ABH Stick Foundation in Fawn (used for contouring), Guerlain Meteorites in Claire (a repurchase), Laura Mercier Translucent Powder in the travel size, Cover FX Custom Enhancing Drops in Celestial, Cover FX mattifying Primer for my daughter, Cover FX Illuminating Powder (just curious to try it), MUFE Long Lasting Complexion Set (trying new products), MUFE Star Lit Powders in Frozen Purple and Frozen Gold, Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Lipstick in Foiled Brat, Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Ferulic and Retinol Eye gel, Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow palette in Graphite, Sephora Lip Powder in Red Hot and Rust Red, Amorepacific Polish and Hydrate 2 Step Complexion Combo, Dior Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer in 02 Pink, Viseart Theory palettes in Nuance and Amethyst, Dior Poison Girl perfume, Sunday Riley Martian Matte Toner (for my daughter), Sunday Riley Tidal and Clinique Acne Cleanser for my daughter.

Weekend: Painting the garage conversion and starting to move furniture back into the space.

Do you like theme parks- Yes, definitely. I was raised in Southern California and at that time you could get into Disneyland for the cost of admission and you bought tickets for the rides or a book of tickets. The tickets were A-E and the E tickets were for the best rides. The expression, “It was like an E ride”, came from those tickets. Anyway, in high school my friends and I would go to Disneyland all of the time. We could get in for like $3.00 and walk around the shops, eat and ride a few rides. It was a really wonderful time in my life. I still love going to Disneyland and although I moved back to Montana in 2012 I have been back to Disneyland 4-5 times since then. Oh, now I want to go!!

Deborah S. Avatar

My favorite ride when I was a teenager was the Matterhorn. After the Pirates of The Caribbean ride opened then that became a favorite. I have to say the thing I enjoyed the most was the theatre where Abraham Lincoln, an animated replica) spoke to the audience. I watched it every time we went. The other thing I loved was seeing live performances on the stage in Tomorrowland. I got to see a lot of music acts there back in the day.

Lulle Avatar

Haul: I got the Modern Mercury highlighter on pre-order at esteelauder.com (got my hopes up when they shipped a package, but it was just the samples :/), and then my Sephora sale orders: Nars Sun Wash bronzer in Laguna, Sephora Favorites Sun Safety Kit, Nars x Charlotte Gainsbourg Old Church Street shadow duo, Too Faced new highlighter in Blinded By The Light (taking a chance here, will return if it doesn’t meet my needs), Benefit Galifornia, Diorskin Nude Air Serum Foundation, Lancome Matte Shaker in Beige Vintage, YSL Tint-in-Balm in Desire Me Pink, Givenchy summer 2017 bronzer, replacement Radiance brush head for my Clarisonic, and the Sephora birthday gift. That’s in 2 orders and they’re both showing out for delivery today (the Sephora tracking feature appears broken right now, but that’s the carrier’s update). Phew!

Weekend plans: March for Science tomorrow. Saturday is also the day I can vote in the first round of France’s Presidential election, being a French citizen registered with the Consulate. So a busy day for me! Sunday: yoga and relaxing. And house chores, unfortunately!

Theme parks: they can be fun, but it’s not my top destination for a short getaway!

Lacey J. Avatar

Haul. Waiting on bare minerals original mineral loose powder to come in the mail. Got the shade golden medium. Hope it works out.

Weekend plans. Nothing nada zilch.
Themeparks. Never been to one.

Sarah Avatar

Haul: This is skincare heavy, because having a baby killed any time/desire to wear or play with makeup while temporarily wrecking my skin, Beautylish: Bioderma Sensio moisturizer, Ordinary Azaleaic Acid, Smith and Cult Doe polish; Sephora: Josie Maran balm, oil cleanser, SPF 47, Coolah SPF stick, Deborah Lippmann Roses polish set, MoroccanOil oil and mask, Stellar lippie Astral 4, Belif moisturizer

Weekend: Baby. She’s become very fussy this last week (almost a month old!), so I plan on putting hubby on parenting duty and leaving for a few hours just to get a break!

Parks: NOPE! I HATE them! I’ve never liked them, not even as a little kid. The crowds, noise, rides…total sensory overload.

Allison Avatar

Haul: Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Coral Confession, and the Fresh reward set (I forget how many points! 500 maybe?) and a 3ml sample of Timbuktu by L’Artisan Parfumeur, and pore-clearing sheet masks from Whole Foods. 😛

The lip gel is alright; I got it as a dupe for NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in New Lover, and I think I do like it slightly better, but then I realized it’s a color that I wouldn’t wear super often, so I do feel kind of silly. I haven’t tried anything from the Fresh set or the sheet masks yet, but I’m looking forward to them. I’m in love with the perfume, Timbuktu; it’s a vetiver (my one true love) that’s not too sweet and light nor too smoky, with a small twist of mango and cardomom to make it interesting! Very worthwhile.

Weekend plans: Had to cancel my plans to hang out at a cat cafe and Japanese garden with my friend cause we both have too much schoolwork 🙁 🙁 🙁

Do you like theme parks?: I love theme parks!!! Get me on all the rides, from the biggest roller coasters to the smallest teacup thingy! Unfortunately no one else in my family/friend group likes going to theme parks, so I never get to go 🙁

Allison Avatar

Also for weekend plans, tinkering with my desktop computer! I installed a new graphics card and attempted to install a new sound card, but the computer won’t boot with the sound card installed, and resetting the BIOS messed up the boot record, so Windows is mad at me so I have to reinstall all my operating systems (well, only two, but still)….

maria Avatar

The photo of Mellan is too funny!
Haul: Tatcha silk cream, QVC Tatcha package of 6 luminous deep hydration masks and it came with a Tatcha deep hydration firming serum that is why I purchased the silk cream to try it over Tatcha’s firming serum. I think Tatcha is very pricey for the amount of product you get but I wanted to try the hydration mask. Jadore eau de parfum. Jadore dry silky body oil from Sephora. Also from Lord & Taylor the Jadore lotion and the soap from Nordstrom. I usually just buy the eau de parfum but I wanted the whole thing so the fragrance would last. For my husband Prada cologne with after shave he has a b day coming up the end of April.
JCrew 30% off two tops. Now I am on a no buy for at least a month!
Weekend plans: Nothing special. We are still having Spring weather in CT I am not looking forward to the hot humid days that are coming soon. I like it when you don’t need air conditioning or heat!
Christine I am with you I love Disney World Love it. I don’t get sick on rollercoaster’s but I am a big scarey cat! When I was dragged on years ago for the first time I loved it as long as you put your arms strait up in the air you won’t get sick that is the secret. But I am still too scared to go on it without literally being dragged the whole way kicking and screaming.

Anne Avatar

Haul: Sephora VIB sale haul: Milk Holographic Stick in Supernova, Benefit Galifornia Blush, Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Color in Petal Pink, YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in #9 Nude in Private, YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain in #412 Rose Mix.

I also ordered some shirts off ModCloth, and FINALLY found the perfect under-dress short thingys- Jockey Skim Shorts. They have a longer version that keeps your thighs from rubbing together, come in yonks of colors, and are machine washable!

Weekend plans: Try to relax as my body is being even more decrepit than normal.

Do you like theme parks?: Nope. Hate asphalt, rollercoasters and long lines so that’s like the worst place to take me. I like the idea of some of the foods at Epcot and Disney and Harry Potter world, but not THAT much. Though someday I may have to go to one of the Harry Potter ones as I’m a giant Potterhead.

Christine Avatar

Get some R&R, Anne! 🙂

I realllyyy want to go to one of the Harry Potter parks. They seem well-done from what I hear. I feel you on the long lines, though. Last time we went to Disneyland, it was really hot AND humid (rare for California) with long lines and sooo not fun.

The Makeup Train Avatar

Haul: I splurged at Sephora, purchasing Herbivore Coco Rose body polish, UD Riff eyeshadow (this arrived broken so I have to exchange it), Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle eye cream, Tom Ford lipstick in Nicholas, Sunday Riley Good Genes. Today I picked up LA Girl concealers in Toast and Yellow for contouring and highlighting and a NYX Epic Lip Ink in Blaze from the local beauty supply store.

Weekend plans: Cleaning my apartment and emailing some people.

Do you like theme parks?: No, they give me anxiety. Lol. When I was 11 I faked sick so I could avoid the class trip to Six Flags. I’m a huge introvert and I live a quiet life.

I want to rub Mellan’s furry tummy!

Tracey E. Avatar

Haul: (Sephora 15% off): Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Lover and Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Metal metallic lip in Moscow Muled. Am considering other items but at 10% off after sales tax, I’m a bit ambivalent about the sale, unfortunately.

Weekend plans: After a week of gloomy days, showers, and below average temps, temps might reach into the mid-60s, so being outside as much as possible!!

Do you like theme parks?: I haven’t been to a theme park in 15+ years. For the right one, I’d walk around, maybe go on the Ferris Wheel but mostly enjoy the pavilions, the characters, etc. I have chronic nausea, so fast swirling rides are out for me these days.

Jammies Avatar

I love that Mellan is rolly-pollying on his bed!

My haul this week included Cupcake Polish, Fair Maiden, Emily de Molly, KB Shimmer, Lilypad Lacquer and Glitter Gal nail polishes from Color4Nails’ spring clearance sale and StriVectin hair products from Ulta.

Weekend plans include cleaning, organizing and thinning the nail polish herd like whoa!

Mary Avatar

I love theme parks even the extremely nerdy ” Renaissance Faire ” Game of Thrones anyone ?
Lol….

Haul:

The Ordinary argan oil, hyaluronic 2% + B5 serum, and High Adherence Silicone Primer. I dumped the argan oil down the drain. It smells like cow dung to me. The primer has gone into my giveaway bag. It is not as effective as the Benefit or Dr. Brandt at hiding my pores. The serum seems fine. I am awaiting my foundations now.

Boscia Tsubaki face oil. This is my second bottle. I thought I would save some money by replacing with The Ordinary but it was not to be.

SK-II essence. I got a small bottle for 100 Sephora points and it seems to make a real difference so I bought a full size.

Beautyblender. The RT dupes seem to shred after just a few uses. I hope the name brand lasts longer.

Georgio Armani eye tint in camel. I have been searching for the perfect brown to camouflage my hooded eyes and the powders don’t blend very well on my crepey eyelids. I think the cream formula will work better.

Week-end plans: None. Now that I don’t work anymore, everyday is a week-end.

Theme parks: Not for me.

Haul:
Colourpop – The Knockout Face Duo, Double Play Face Duo, On A Stick Blotted Lip, Sucker Blotted Lip, Doozy Ultra Blotted Lip, Double Scoop Ultra Blotted Lip, Out of Beach Ultra Blotted Lip
Ulta – Hoping to use my 20% off to get Tarte Shape Tape Concealer!
Sephora – Hoping to find the Marc Jacobs Coconut Bronzer and the Bite Beauty Love, Bite Lip Set in store, as well as anything else that might tickle my fancy.

Weekend plans:
Heading to Portland to hike, but mostly to get away from sales tax for my hauls 🙂

Theme parks:
Love them! My fiance and I had annual passes to Disneyland, but now that we’ve moved out of LA, we won’t be able to frequent them as often.

Haul: Nothing hauled this week although I did order 2 beauty boxes with discount codes so am waiting for them to arrive next week. I ordered The Ordinary’s Moisturising Factors + HA from ASOS.com but didn’t realise that the delivery address was separate to the billing address so it was delivered to my old flat! My parents are there this weekend though so will pick it up.

Plans for the weekend: Doing errands on Sat morning before the Royal Mail depot closes and the chemists closes ?. No lie-in for me! It’s my fiancé’s dad’s birthday (Sat) tomorrow so we’ll go and see him at some point. I’ll visit my parents on Mon with my daughter and sort out her old room, we didn’t manage to do that fully. They’ll take her out to the park in the meantime.

Do you like theme parks? I went a few times when I was younger but haven’t been for 10 years. I did enjoy them a lot, I wouldn’t go now unless it was with my daughter. When she’s a bit older we’d like to go to Disneyland or even better, DisneyWorld! Neither my fiance nor i have been to either. I remember the first time I heard about it when I was about 5 or 6, my neighbour’s daughter who was 10 years older, showed me the photos of her with Mickey Mouse and Goofy. I was amazed and delighted she’d met them lol. Then later my cousin went there when I was about 11 and I was so jealous lol.

What a stunning photo of Mellan, doing what most male mammals like to do on a sunny afternoon – lie back and relax!
Haul: Clarins Peach blush – a bit matte and different peachy shades
Weekend plans: after hosting a few events in the past couple of weeks, I am just having a chill out weekend. However, there is lots of housework to catch up on…..
On Sunday, I will probably go out for a drive up in the hills and have just our family (and grand children) over for dinner.
Theme Parks: love them! None really here in Melbourne, but up on the Gold Coast in Queensland, there are lots and we have been a few times to Dream World, Sea World and Movie World.

CoverFX illuminating setting spray, Marc Jacobs liquid lipstick in Hot Cocoa, Marc Jcobs matte highliner in grapewine and brownie, Dior Addict lip glow balm in Berry. Urban Decay Basquiat collection lipstick in Epigram, Giorgio Armani Luminous silk foundation, Giorgio Armanisingle eyeshadow in Parma. IGK Sold out curl priming basecoat and IGK Call time styling primer (travel size)
From Ulta I bought, Too faced papa don’t peach blush and liquid lipstick in Suck it. UD Chill cooling and hydrating spray (Has anyone used this? How does it compare to the all nighter?)
Weekend plans: 20 lbs down, I want to eat out 😀 We will probably end up at a Shawarma place close by. I also want to eat some fresh made felafels. Sunday we might go furniture shopping.
Do you like theme parks? I have been to Universal Studios and had fun. I couldn’t sit on majority of the rides mostly because I was about 6 months pregnant at the time. I can do bumper cars and giant wheels, but everything else including roller coasters make me sick very easily. So, I avoid those. I mostly like going to theme parks hoping to find something fun to eat (Like cotton candy and ice cream.):D

Awww sweet Mellan. I love it when they roll/lay like that. I could spend an hour just rubbing bellies and doing doggy calisthenics, lol.

Haul: I went a little apey. It’s mostly masks and nail polish, ha!

* butter LONDON nail polishes:
Toff, Bang On!, Bodacious, Dearie Me, Smashing, Shop Girl, Molly Coddled, Lemon Drop, Ta-Ta!, Ace, Fancy, Chat Up and The Most Wonderful of All Color set and also Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish in Harlem Shake. I am in nail polish heaven. Some of these will go into gifting bags, some for me.

Neiman Marcus:
* Tom Ford Bronzer (large) in Bronze Age. I have Gold Dust and Terra and am thinking Bronze Age may be a bit dark but I like the idea of mixing or using it/them as a possible eye contour shade as well.
* Sisley-Paris Express Flower Gel, Black Rose Cream, Radiant Glow Express and Creamy Mask with Tropical Resins masks and Black Rose Precious Face Oil. I’ve tried the black rose mask and have used the rose oil a couple of times and I like them well enough, just waiting to see what all the fuss is about.
* Chanel Le Vernis in Vamp – my first Chanel shade! I am excited about wearing this!
Amazon:
* Majestic Pure Dead Sea and 24K Gold masks. The Dead Sea mask is my favorite but the 24k mask is new. I figure it’d be a nice follow up to all the stripping and peeling and re-surfacing masks.

Skindinavia:
* Skindinavia Bridal Setting Spray – they had 2 for 25% off so I stocked up. Love this stuff, it’s my HG.

Decleor:
* Aromessence Rose D’Orient Soothing, Iris Rejuvenating and Neroli Comforting Concentrate Serums. LOVE these – love the scent, love the instant calming effect they have on my skin. I use these daily in my morning and sometimes nighttime skin care routines after my serums and before my moisturizers and they add that little extra something.

Sephora sale:
* Verb Ghost Oil Hairspray set – the ghost oil is great. I have wavy, almost curly hair and a few drops before my other styling products and it gives my hair the most beautiful shine. I think it helps with volume and hold, but that could be because iit helps separate my waves and everything is fuller. I haven’t tried the hairspray yet, but hairspray is hairspray and I like hold but I never really count on it too much because my hair is so thick that I think any hold would get weighed down anyway. Got this mostly for the oil, but will use the hairspray even if it is just so-so.
* Peter Thomas Roth Mask Sampler Kit – these are a good size for sampling and traveling. I like the charcoal mask and am curious about the gel masks.
* Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar – great for washing the day off. Sometimes I lather it up and leave it on for a few minutes, like a mini mask, when I’m feeling like I need a little extra clarifying.
* Tata Harper Purifying Mask
* Ole Henriksen Instant Transformation Lemon Facial Peel
* Lancome Bi-Facil – I am back to this after giving the Shiseido eye and lip makeup remover a try. I like Lancome better – it seems like I can use less product and spend less time removing my waterproof mascara with Bi-Facil.
* Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Colors in Golden Peach and Naked Bronze – I finally caved and bought these 2. I’ve had my eye on these for the last 2 years. I love the cream formula and the celestial toppers. These will make nice additions to my collection.
* Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pussycat – my first full-size lipstick from the brand, and matte no less. I don’t like matte formulas but from what I’ve read, this wears as more of a satin, which is my preferred formula. I am hoping this will be a deep violety nude (is there such a thing?) for summer.
* Estee Lauder Double Wear in Desert Beige – I don’t particularly care for Estee Lauder products or as a brand, but I loved the collaboration with Victoria Beckham (much to my surprise) and I’ve heard nothing but good things about this foundation for a couple of years now. I want to see what all the fuss is about. I don’t need full coverage but I would like to see about the longevity and if it wears well, it may make it into daily rotation.

Weekend plans: The usual laundry and laying low on Saturday and on Sunday, I have my MAC class!

Do you like theme parks?: When I was younger, they were such a special treat. The majesty and pageantry of it all, they were so enchanting and I loved the rides. Now, no. The crowds and the waiting and people not knowing how to behave in public are enough to swear me off forever.

Alecto Avatar

Haul: ColourPop High Rise, Head Rush, 8 Track, and Moonwalk (which is A*MA*ZING!) shadows, as well as the Faded lippie. On the skincare front, I decided to try to make my own oil blend (in the vein of Paula’s Choice oil booster) for both economy and the ability to make my own choices in ingredients, and so got a bunch oils from Leven Rose. So far happy with it (and it smells good!).

Weekend plans: Office work at home. Also, attending the retirement party of a friend Sunday.

Do you like theme parks?: I don’t think so? Other than a water park in Texas, the only times I’ve been was when I was a kid, and I don’t remember them very well. And they don’t tempt me at all.

Tomorrow our son and daughter in-law will be over for dinner. Cooking for family and friends is something I love. My father was an Executive Chef for several top restaurants in Dallas so I guess it’s hereditary.
