Glad to hear Mellan is doing well!

Haul: nothing but I’m probably going to pick up more crafting things

Weekend plans: I hate a date tonight. We’ll see how that will go ha ha

Do you like going to concerts?: Yes! I used to be one of those people who didn’t understand why someone would go to multiple shows on one leg of a tour…now I’m that person. Honestly, it’s as much about the show as it is about meeting up with friends from all over.

Monica Avatar

I’m learning how to make junk/art journals. Bullet journaling was just the beginning lol like a gateway drug into crafting.

Lea Avatar

I feel like you have a little subliminal messaging going on here, lol. “I hate a date night tonight” – hope it goes better than that!

Joyce Avatar

Haul: Revlon lip butters in Peach Parfait & Pink Truffle; Versace Yellow Diamond perfume (finally!); Garnier Moisturizing Gel Cream
Weekend plans: nothing 🙂
Do you like going to concerts? Not even a little bit. I’m definitely a homebody who doesn’t like loud music or big crowds. Although, the concerts I have been to I’ve liked 🙂 Rend Collective is amazing!!

Agona Avatar

Haul: bareMinerals 14.0 Bare Sensuals, tarte Make Believe in Yourself palette, and tarte Spellbound highlighter–but I haven’t had the chance to try any of my new purchases yet. 🙁

Weekend plans: seeing the cherry blossoms in DC

Concerts: never been to a real one!

Love the Mellan good news!
Haul:
Beautyhabit (20% off): Oribe (Cote d’Azur Hair Refresher, Cote d’Azur Set/LE Rollerball of Cote d’Azur EDP and Cote d’Azur Luminous Hair and Body Oil , Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo, Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream), Dr. Hauschka Tube Wringer, Alaska Glacial Mud Co. Mask Application Brush, Paul & Joe Eye Makeup Remover (2), I Profumi di Firenze Vaniglia del Madagascar 12 ml. So happy to have found a tube wringer. I’m terrible at using color cosmetics more than a couple of times before giving them away but I do typically use my skincare and foundations that come in tubes. It was super cheap and will be worth using.

By Kilian: Black Phantom

Estee Lauder (40% off): Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Shiner Lipstick (Pink Dragon), Bronze Goddess deluxe sample. Pink Dragon is a pretty sheer lippie. I don’t know that I would have felt it was worth it at full price but at 40% off it was a steal.

Gerard (35% off): Mist-ified and Coconut Slay all Day Mini, Lip Gloss Duo (Color Your Smile Lighted Lip Gloss – Pouty Princess, Divalicious). Being delivered next week. I love the Gerard Color Your Smile glosses. The quality is superb plus they have a light in the wand and a mirror on the side of each tube!

MAC: Extra Dimension Blush (Rosy Cheeks, Sweets for My Sweet)

MAC Pre-Order: Justine Skye Iridescent Powder

Muse Beauty Pro: Lemonhead Spacepaste (Mulholland, Roosevelt, Silverlake). Arriving today – so excited for these! They were completely sold out on the brand site.

Neiman Marcus (Earned $50 gift card): Guerlain (KissKiss Liplift, Shalimar Perfumed Dusting Powder, La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick – Orchid Beanie 073, Mon Guerlain deluxe sample), Molton Brown Vanilla & Violet Flower Body Lotion, Kevyn Aucoin The Molton Lip Color Molton Metals (Titanium). Arriving next week.

Origins (15% off): Three Part Harmony Soft Cream for Renewal, Repair and Radiance; Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay; High-Potency Night-A-Mins Skin Refining Oil; Plantscription Anti-Aging Power Serum, Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment; Modern Friction Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion, Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer, Plantscription Anti-Aging Cleanser, Original Skin Essence Lotion with Dual Ferment Complex, Ginger Souffle Whipped Body Cream, 5 deluxe samples

Saks : MAC Metallic Lipstick (Disobedient) – Hurray I found it since it sold out on MAC.

Tarte (20% off – Thanks Katherine!): tartiest metallic shadow (poker face, jaded, dark seas, pop rock, revel, downtown, flask), LE lip treats lip sculptor duo

Tarte (30% off): tartiest metallic shadow (vintage, genie, clueless, grommet), lip facial lip scrub, GWP: concealer brush, deluxe tariest glossy lip paint in goals
Ulta (In-Store, free/used rewards): Living Proof Full Root Lift, UD Rehab Japanese Hot Springs Gel, Redken Power Grip 03, Origins Checks & Balances travel size, NARS Orgasm deluxe sample

Ulta (50% off): Butter London Plush Rush Lipstick (Delighted) and Lip Gloss (Fireworks); Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Highlighter (Sparkler and Exposed)
Ulta: Butter London + Pantone Color of the Year Eyeshadow Palette

Vartan Perfumes: Carnelian 30 ml

* Have to comment about 2 things:
1. I ordered every single new Tarte metallic (plus the 1 older shade). Half of the shadows either came shattered or shattered the second I (barely) touched them. Tarte was super good at creating replacement orders immediately after receiving my pics but kind of nervous about whether the replacements will also come broken. seems like their formula, which is incredibly pigmented, is also very fragile.

2. Some of your know the Too Faced/Ulta Mastercard drama I went through. (Short story is that I canceled my order. Ulta MC had me cancel my credit card so I couldn’t be charged for a cancelled order; since TF wouldn’t have the new card number, the charge would be rejected. For some reason weeks later the order shipped.) Here’s the update – Too Faced contacted Ulta MC and got some nit wit to put the charge through on my new card (they didn’t have the new number) about a week and a half after I cancelled the old card! Ulta MC is refusing to remove the charge which I had instructed was unauthorized. So at this point, I’m not a happy camper with either Too Faced or Ulta Mastercard/Comenity Bank.

Weekend plans: Girls weekend in Annapolis, MD with my bff – woohoo!

Do you like going to concerts?: Yes but haven’t gone to one in a long time. I think the last one I went to is Ozzfest with my daughter.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Hi Genevieve sorry for the delay – I haven’t had a chance to swatch or play with the palette yet. I was super busy and then went away with my best friend for the weekend. I promise IA’ll get back with you as soon as I try/swatch the palette. (And thanks 🙂 ) I can tell you the bright green is in the palette as it’s the color of the year from Pantone for 2017…so Butter London had to include it. I feel like it may work well as an accent shade but will know better once I see how the shades will actually look with use.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Hi Genevieve! Sorry for the delay but my order got hung up and I just received it yesterday. I’ve gone ahead and bumped up posting the swatches (up this morning) so you can take a peek if you’re interested. They’re on my IG, Twitter and Facebook. I haven’t tried it for wear yet (will be doing that tomorrow). First thoughts are – pretty dusty but the pigment isn’t bad. For $29 and now if you can get the Ulta 20% off – not a bad purchase. Hoping the dustiness won’t affect the wear though. Will try to remember to post back for you.

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you once again for remembering to post – The colours aren’t wowing me as much as I thought they would, and the fact that they are dusty doesn’t seem like a good omen.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Ok touching back. The BL palette did MUCH better than the Viseart one. The shades (all of them) applied fine over the MAC paint pot (in ochre) that I used as primer. I used the two lightest shades under the brows, the midtone mattes as transition and contour, and the midtone shimmers as lid shades. I did apply with a damp brush. Then I lined top lash line with a shimmery forest green liner and went over it with the shimmery dark green in the palette. Lower lash line I did using that bright green matte. All of the shadows lasted all day with no creasing or fading except the bright green which faded at roughly 4-5 hours (although it was still a bit visible. Next time I’ll use it over a liner.)

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Michele – it’s good to know that the brand is delivering some very good standards in their eye shadows, because I love their nail polish.
I am sure your eye look was beautiful – love those greens.

Ginny Avatar

HAUL: MAC Blue Brown pigment (IN LOVE) and Relects Pearl Glitter. No idea how I’m going to use up this massive amount of glitter but it’s really pretty. I’m going to try mixing it with Vaseline or some medium to make lip/eye/face gloss.

WEEKEND: Brunch, shopping, baking brie. All the good things.

I’m actually not big on concerts! I like live music but in a low key way like a good band playing at a bar. Concerts have the rigmarole of buying tickets, standing in line, waiting for the show to start. Feels like a hassle to me.

Lily Kelley Avatar

Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in Honey, shampoo and conditioner as well as Clinique skincare and a lipstick from Ulta sale.
No plans for weekend,
Love concerts with a good seat and a good performer.

Makes my morning that Mellan is doing so good. Please give him a huge hug and kiss from me and the boys. Have a great weekend Christine.

Katherine T. Avatar

Great job Mellan!!!
*Haul–Haul- UD Afterglow Blush in Video – 50% off Ulta Beauty Steal -a nice, pretty color. My big Tarte shadow order is supposed to be coming today, so will update my post later
*Weekend – need to catch up on sleep and relax, sort and put away makeup, lunch with friend
*Concerts -only been to one concert, Madonna -enjoyed it but can’t go too often as ticket prices are too expensive, then still have to pay for parking, food/drink

Katherine T. Avatar

OMG, I’ve only swatched on my arms, but the new Tarte Metallic Shadows are STUNNING!!! Tarte totally knocked it out of the ballpark here, the new singles are just as good as the originals, super pigmented, smooth, and rich finish. I highly recommend checking these out – Jaded, Amethyst, Dark Seas, Vintage, Genie, Revel, and Flask. I ordered directly from Tarte during their 20% off sale, they traveled 3,000 miles cross country from NJ to CA, and all arrived intact, not a single one chipped or broken, perfect mint condition. It came in a small box, wrapped only with tissue paper, but it was very tightly packed with the Make Believe Cheek and Eye Palette, so maybe that helped. Given the complaints about singles arriving broken, it’s probably costing Tarte a small fortune to replace and re-ship them, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually DC’d the formula, which would be a real shame. So I’m thinking of buying backups. The palette is also a real gem!! Not that thrilled with the boring looking matte shadow but can use as a blush, but all of the other colors are gorgeous, and some truly unique, hard-to-dupe ones in there. Very metallic foiled finish, will be absolutely stunning on the eye. The palette is LE, so check it out soon, you don’t want to miss it!

Julia Avatar

So glad to see that Mr. Mellan is happpy and healthy!

Haul: No cosmetics this week! But i did buy a set of Shampure liters from Aveda- love that scent!

Weekend plans: My parents are coming in for the first time in a very long time, so probably go downtown, get some Chicago deep dish, and I have brunch planned for Sunday.

Do you like going to concerts?: To be honest, not usually! I dlove my like the crowds or being far away- I like small concerts ok but usually just prefer other activities if I’m going out and listening to music in a more relaxed setting

Jennifer Avatar

Haul: nothing this week but am planning on going to Ulta tomorrow to pick up a few things
Weekend Plans: running errands and some spring cleaning (mostly of my wardrobe)
Do you like going to concerts?: Yes! I love live music…I try to go to a concert at least once or twice a year…I especially enjoy those with only standing floors where I try to get there early so I can be at the very front 😀 I tend to walk away with ringing in my ears and with a raspy throat from all the yelling/cheering/singing lol

Jennifer Avatar

I like going to see indie bands…my most favorite concert was probably when I went to see my two all time favorite bands in the same concert Relient K and Switchfoot last year. The crowd was lame (as in not energetic) haha but it was all about the good music and the people I was there with <3

Joyce Avatar

OMG Relient K! That is such a throwback to me. I looooved their older stuff when I was in middle school. I used to listen to them while I made AIM Fades on BuddyProfile HAHAHA

Tammy Avatar

Haul: I picked up two Shiseido eyelash curlers and two UD Perversion mascaras from Ulta this week. I heard that Tom Ford might be changing his brush collection so i finally bit the bullet and bought the infamous bronzer brush, which did not disappoint. (Now if only I could find a face powder brush that feels like that on my skin!) I got the Chikuhodo GSN-02 powder brush but I am not overwhelmingly thrilled, as it feels a bit scratchy on my skin☹️. Maybe powder brushes are supposed to feel like this? I picked up the Chikuhodo T-6 eyeshadow brush and I’m IN LOVE! I like huge brushes that just give a wash of color over the entire lid, and this one also packs a pretty good pigment punch as well. I’ve been using it all week with my Viseart Bridal Satin and Ribbons Boheme palettes.

Weekend: Work at Bergners, gym, cooking, try to squeeze in time to hold my new grandson, etc. Going to attempt to take my son to see Logan while it’s still in theaters. Been trying to do this for past three weekends but there’s never enough time!

Concerts: I love live music and would go to concerts all the time if they did afternoon or early evening performances. I have too many sleep issues to be staying up til midnight–it would take me a week to reset my sleep cycle.

Lea Avatar

Yes, Tom Ford is moving to all synthetic unfortunately. You should try the Armani brushes and see how you get on. They were redesigned a few years back and are very nice in my opinion. I have multiples of they eye brushes, the powder and the crescent shaped one that I use for Tom Ford Moodlight. Everyone also raves about the La Mer powder brush and its very soft; though I don’t own it myself.

LindaP Avatar

I have had that Chikuhodo T-6 in and out of my cart a bunch of times. Just what I needed to hear. Just ordered it. You enabler, you. 🙂

I also got the AF Series AF-6 Shadow Liner. I own the Chikuhodo R-SL1 / RR-SL1 Shadow Liner, which is absolutely one of my favorite brushes of all time. I hope the AF handle isn’t too long and bothers me. I just didn’t feel like waiting for a shipment from Japan. Instant gratification overcame me.

Tammy Avatar

Linda, I feel like the T-6 might be an acquired taste. For me it started with the NARS 40 eyeshadow brush. I bought it 2-3 years ago, didn’t know what the heck to do with it, and it basically sat unused in my brush drawer. I was culling my brushes in the fall and put my NARS brush in the give away pile. I had a change of heart and decided to really give it a go, so for a week that is the only brush I used. And I LOVED it! When I saw the T-6 I knew I would have to get it. In size, at least, the T-6 reminds me of the NARS #40. I’ve been using it all week to apply shimmery Viseart shadows on my lid and I’m obsessed. I hope you like it too!

Linda Avatar

Mellan, beautiful boy! So glad he’s doing well.

Haul:

BITE Beauty lipstick pencil in Pomegranate. I must have tried this product on 20x in Sephora and always liked the color on me so much. Hubby likes it too. Finally took the plunge.

I guess it’s OK in the Friday haul thread to provide follow-up of products acquired before? I feel I have to share. 🙂 Last week I wrote, “Warning: I am berzerkers happy with the combo of the Chanel and Sisley products I got this week.” And I was — especially with the Sisley Photo Teint Expert Foundation. This is what happened, and I wonder if this has happened to anyone else with a product?

I had a number of samples of this foundation. Before I cracked into the bottle itself, I figured I’d use them up. Happy, happy — loved the look every day with the Chanel Brightening primer. The samples were done, and I opened the actual product. It was totally different from the samples. It was like water. I mean, I could not get any real coverage from it at all, which for me is a no-no. Nor could I build it easily. (And, yes, it was the same foundation as the samples.)

I spent days frustrated. Then I got ticked. WTH for that price?! I returned it, which is something I try not to do. The SA tried to exchange it saying maybe it was a “bad batch.” Nope, for that price I don’t accept the bad batch excuse. Burned once is enough for me.

So, now trying out Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Foundation. We’ll see….

Chanel Tisse Vendome: I got this a few weeks ago and was “meh” about it. All I had to do is play around with the application of shades in different ways and I found a lovely combo. Now I’m very glad to have it in the stash.

Weekend: It is going to be warm and sunny here, unlike the, literally, blizzard conditions last week. No plans, but a trip into the city with the dogs for a long walk through the Boston Common and the Public Garden is a strong possibility.

Concerts: I don’t dislike concerts, but I’ve never been a regular concert goer. Can’t explain why either. 🙂

Alice Avatar

I’m glad to hear Mellan’s treatments are going well! This week one of our cats was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Luckily all his other organs are ok and he’s otherwise healthy, so the vet thinks that we can treat it with just special prescription food.

Haul: Supergoop “perfect day” 2-in-1 facial sunscreen (spf 50) tube with a lip balm (spf 30) in the cap, Urban Decay perversion mascara mini, Amika perk up dry shampoo mini.

Weekend Plans: Starting work on the kitchen! Luckily the kitchen will be less work than the bathrooms, so we should get it done in 2 weekends. Then it’s just a few nit-picky easy fixes and painting and we can list the house!

Do you like going to concerts: Yeah, but it depends on the venue, and I prefer to have assigned seats (or with general admission the ability to choose a seat rather than standing room only).

WARPAINTandUnicorns Avatar

Haul: NYX haul Faux Whites in Vanilla, Mint Cream, Baby Powder, and Honeydew. Nyx DUO Chromatic Powders in Lander Steel, Twilight Tint, and Snow Rose. But Twilight Tint and Snow Rose came shattered in the mail… I got a refund on those.

The Creme Shop Egg Infused and Coconut oil Infused face mask 5 packs

Weekend plans: Panic mode to make a dress in less than 2 weeks and Easter Early because I’m working through ALL of Easter weekend.

Do you like going to concerts?: Yes but I’ve very rarely done so due to price of tickets.

Sarah Avatar

Haul: It’s from a couple Mondays ago, but MY BABY! She was born almost two weeks ago. By far the best haul I’ve ever had! We’re so in love with her.
Weekend: In-laws visiting to meet the baby, otherwise naps and laundry.
Concerts: Not really. I like the idea of them, but I hate crowds and loud noise. I get bored being in once place for too long. For that matter, I dislike going to the movies or other crowded events.

Genevieve Avatar

Congratulations on the safe arrival of your darling, little angel – and yes it is the best haul you will ever have!
The best advice i was given by my mum was to prepare the evening meal during the baby’s morning nap so that when that witching hour arrives, at least you have dinner!
There will be lots and lots of laundry from now on – it’s hard to believe how much a little person can generate.

Nancy T Avatar

Such great news about Mellan’s test results! I know you and yours must be so immensely relieved! ???

Haul: Waiting for the 2 ColourPop orders I placed last weekend to arrive! The first one with Might Be highlighter and the Phased Out e/s quad is out for delivery today. The 2nd one with Chandelier Ultra Satin, Jam On Lipgloss and Drop Of A Hat blush are supposed to get here on Monday. I retried EL Naked Truth during daylight, and presaled it for Monday’s GWP.

Weekend plans: Today I go for my Remicade infusion. Then some food shopping. Have to touch-up my roots tomorrow or Sunday night. Meeting on Sunday.

Do you like going to concerts: Yes!!! As long as I’m not stuck in the standing room only area or in the upper deck where I can’t see anything! But it’s been many years since I’ve gotten to go to one, though. My son and I almost went to a Disturbed concert with Chevelle and Nothing More at Talking Stick last year, but couldn’t figure out transportation issues, so we didn’t get to go.

Eileen Avatar

Although I haven’t commented every week, I’ve been keeping Mellon in my thoughts. He’s such a great guy! It’s good to hear that he continues to make progress and will soon be back to good health.

No haul yet, but I just did a seasonal purge of my stash so there’s plenty of room for new beauties. I tossed out the oldies and moved my deeper shades to the back of the drawers. Now I’m ready to pick out some light-hearted spring into summer shades.

Pearl Avatar

Haul:
Tom Ford Indian Rose lipstick, Midnight Sea eye duo, Paradiso eye duo
Chanel Subtils quad (back up)

Weekend plans: MAC makeover tomorrow – will be checking out the new e/d blushes if available and the Next to Nothing foundation. After that, back home for laundry and cooking for the week. Maybe meeting up with friends later since my face will be all done up, ha! Sunday will be girls’ brunch at my house and then a few wineries.

Do you like going to concerts? Not really – I can’t relax with big crowds or live performances.

Angie Avatar

*Haul: Natasha Denona single in Satin Skin. OMG… LOVE! Tom Ford bronzer (regular size) in Terra… returned. I’m sure it’s great, but for the price, it wasn’t that amazing to me. RMS cream eye polish in Lucky. Should be delivered later today.

•Weekend plans: Rock hounding with my husband.

•Do you like going to concerts?: Crowds give me anxiety, so not so much.

Erin Avatar

Haul: Nothing so far this week. I want to get a few things but now I’m torn. It’s been a bad week, but I keep having bad weeks and I’m always tempted to buy things. I need a new vitamin c product, a serum or two, and then I should save for NARS summer release as it looks great. I also feel very into the MJ Decadence flanker scent, but I’m not sure if I’m really into it or it’s just because the sample is by my front door, so every time I do something fun, I am wearing the same fragrance, thus creating a positive mental link. Needless to say, confliction is the name of the game.

Weekend: I just took a half day off for some ER follow-up. I’m still not sure what happened last weekend, it seems I had a severe reaction to something but we don’t know what. I’m mentally/emotionally upset as well as physically down in the dumps, so all I have going on right now is food shopping and a massage.

Concerts: I’ve mixed feelings, it depends on the band and the venue!

fashn Avatar

Haul: The new Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Waterproof liner in Black Chocolate, which I just received, but I may end up returning because it seems so dry and the small tip of the pencil already broke off as I was putting it on.

Weekend Plans: Finally a warm weekend here planning to barbecue and take a few nice walks outside.

Do You like to go to Concerts? If I really need to see a particular band or artist that rarely tours in our area, then yes, otherwise I would rather avoid crowds and listen to music at home

Mariella Avatar

Haul: I got 6 wonderful travel sized products all geared to “hydration” in a nifty set from Laneige; I picked up the two Drunk Elephant soaps (Pekee and Juju); I was going to get the travel set of 2 small ones but ounce for ounce, the full sizes are a much better value so I caved and bought ’em both; I also picked up a new Tweezerman tweezer and that lovely Essence Be My Highlight Pure Nude Highlighter. I wanted to at least look at the Tarte Make Believe In Yourself palette and while it had arrived at my local Sephora, it was at the bottom of a bunch of boxes and cases and cartons. I figure I can wait a few days and will certainly consider picking it up if it “measures up” when I see and swatch in store. I also got MAC’s Rhubarb blush (not sure if it was this week, though, or last…)

Weekend Plans: GET MY SNOW TIRES TAKEN OFF!!!!! YAY!

Concerts: I find the volume of most of them painful, seriously painful and I don’t like crowds or lining up (for washrooms, for seats, for food and beverage) so for the most part, watching at home suits me more (except for one or two really civilized concerts I’ve been to in recent years)

Lulle Avatar

Haul: Armani Eye Tint in Flannel and Eyes To Kill eyeshadow in Lust Red, Burberry Eye Colour Cream in Mink, all supposed to arrive today.
Weekend plans: just a spinning class on Saturday, otherwise relaxing, next week I have two medical procedures planned so I’m starting to get anxious :/
Do you like going to concerts? I do! I love symphony concerts, and rock or indie concerts as well, although I don’t go very often. Tickets for big acts can be so expensive!

Blue Avatar

Haul: I got Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl whatever lipstick in #10 a few weeks ago. It’s gorgeous. I’m really enjoying these shiny, plush looking lipsticks! I prefer the application and non-stick finish over gloss.
Weekend plans: Cook. We had company staying over this week and have been going out all the time. It will be nice to have home cooked food again. And not to spend all my money going out.
Do you like going to concerts?: Only once every few months for someone particularly good. Not a fan of the crowds.

Carolann Avatar

Haul: I was bad this week. I splurged at Tarte’s Friends & Family Sale and picked up: Rainforest of the Sea II palette, the Make Believe in Yourself palette, the animal print magnetic palette, and a Frxxxtion stick ($78). Then I splurged a few days later on HauteLook and bought pretty much all of the Morphe palettes: Blushed Blush palette, 35W Warm, 35T Taupe, 35P Plum, 35OS Shimmer Nature Glow, 35N Matte, and 35E It’s Bling ($112). I don’t have any Morphe palettes and I couldn’t decide!

Weekend plans: Yard cleanup. We were hit hard with the storms this week (I live in Georgia). There are a lot of sticks and debris in my yard since we live in a wooded area. We lost a tree too, it snapped right in two. Fortunately no damage to our house.

Concerts: Wow, it’s been ages since I’ve been to a concert. Yes, I enjoy going, but not many of my friends like the music I do so I don’t go to concerts much.

Joyce Avatar

That Tarte sale was very tempting! But they hold a couple 30% sales throughout the year (which is why I rarely purchase their products during Ulta/Sephora 20% sales). What do you want to fill your magnetic palette with?

Carolann Avatar

I have a few OFRA and Colourpop eyeshadow pans that I’d like to fill in my Tarte palette with. I wish I’d bought more of them, the quality is great! For $17, they’re a steal (even better with the 30% sale)!

Tammy Avatar

You’ll have to report back on what you think of those Morphe palettes. I rarely read comments on Temptalia about Morphe products in general, and I am always curious what others think of them.

Maria Avatar

That is such a sweet photo of Mellan. I am happy to hear he is doing well.
Haul: YSL Volupte Tint-In-Balm in shades #11 Play Me Fuchsia, #4 Desire Me Pink, & #12 Try Me Berry. These are so beautiful and smell incredible I am in love. I want to pick up #8 Catch Me Orange next.
Weekend Plans: Just my usual relax, laundry which I do everyday. I am looking forward to watching the final episode of the season tonight Mama June from Not to Hot. I really am happy for her & her huge weight loss. She needs to help her kids out and get them to eat a little healthier also.
Concerts: I love going to concerts when it’s to see a band or singer that I really like but I haven’t gone in years. I went a lot when I was younger when I could get good seats & I have yet to go to a concert that I haven’t had a blast. I love music so definitely Love Concerts but I do enjoy watching them on TV also.

maria Avatar

Hi Christine, yes the tint is different from shade to shade & the ones that I picked are very pigmented for a balm but some shades are extremely light without a lot of pigment. It is build able & the scent is beautiful. I really love these balms but they probably aren’t for everyone.

MoMerrell Avatar

YEY Mellan!!

Haul: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Prismatic Amethyst (this is totally something I would not buy but after swatching it I had to have that amazing glow on my face!! and grabbed a UD Perversion Mascara which I LOVE since trying it!

I love Becca Mini highlights and so I got the prismatic cause it was different and I thought OK, finally time to buy a full sized one then I get an email from Sephora today how the mini pressed highlighter in Opal is 100pts with $25 purchase so I logged online and got MURAD Polish, Plump and Protect set and Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge on sale and these are two things I’ve wanted to try. I then used another 100 pts for the Dior Hydra Life Micellar Water No Rinse Cleanser as I want to try one of these Micellar water products and used a promo to get the TATA Harper Clarifying Moisturizer (I love moisturizers)

•Weekend plans: My sis just asked me to give her a break from my 5 yr old niece lol so I will babysit her tonight. It feels great out so I’ll walk her to the park and get some popcorn and watch movies tonight! Tomorrow is a friends bday outing and sunday plan to work on my book.

•Do you like going to concerts?: I LOVE concerts! I will go to see an artist I’ve never heard of perform live if the chance happens. I will also travel to see my favorite band if needed! Kings of Leon will not be coming to MN or anywhere near enough so they will be in Toronto this summer and I am trying to go. Live music is best to me. I don’t like watching videos or concerts on tv, etc. I still haven’t watched Beyoncé full lemonade thing cause I can’t stand videos lol it’s too time consuming.

MoMerrell Avatar

Oh it was too gorgeous to NOT get and I normally always get the same things so it was a pleasure to not only FINALLY be able to buy something but to step outside of my box.

I am just getting into the highlight thing in the last few months moreso than before. I had my deluxe Becca in Opal which is stunning, The Wet & Wil Rainbow one is actually pretty good, Butter London liquid kind was ok but I don’t prefer liquid so it was a try and I think one from NYX that I didn’t care for. But Becca has my heart. lol

Lovely Mellan, glad he is doing better.

Haul, skincare from The Ordinary, eye creme from Emma Hardie, lipbalm from Jouer, Makeup Fixing Mist from Pixi.
From Illamasqua, a pair of false lashes, Antimatter Lipstick in Solar, lip pencil in Flush (they call it Slick Stick Lip) and Lip Lure in Dusk, the last two as a duo. I really like the Lip Lure, and I love the colour. the pencil is also very good. All of the lip products stays on my lips quite long, so I’m really happy about this purchase, I had 15% off for my birthday.
From RCMA No Colour Powder. Huge bottle, will last a long time, unless I drop it when it’s open. I like the powder, I must say.
Weekend, no plans.
Concerts, I really enjoy going to concerts, but I rarely get a chance to.

Helene Avatar

I’m finishing my UD setting spray first, but I’ll let you know as soon as I’ve tried it for a week or so.
I like Illamasqua, but I think that there are so many other brands doing about the same now, with unexpected colour combinations and unconventional colours. I’m not a fan of their matte lipsticks as they dry my lios like nothing else to be honest. I also had a lipstick in a beautiful lilac from them that I just coulden’t use no matter what I did, I tried it with and without lipbalm, primer, pencil, you name it, I tried applying it from the bullet, with lip brush with fingers, and I could not get an even coverage. I think it must have either been old or the batch was bad.
I love the Glamore line, I hope that is what they are called, the shiniest of the lipsticks they make, the Antimatters seem to be good, I like the one I’ve got.
I must say the lip pencil and the lip lure I bought are wxcellent and I alsp love their lip glosses.
I do love Illamasqua and will continue buying from them , especially on their sales, at least as long as I can buy from the UK without having to pay import tax.

Helene Avatar

I would be fun to hear what you think of their newer products. It is a bit of a mixed match for me. I love some of their products and some I don’t get along with at all.
I’ve still only used the Pixi Fixing Mist for two days, but a first feeling is that I like the UD Allnighter better. Pixi seems to give a bit of radiance, or I’m oilier than usual, now just about two hours after using it I think I look greasy, not a look I like. I’ll update on the next Free For Haul
I also want to appologize for my sloppy typing skills, and for not proofreading, I seem to mix a lot of the letters up, p for o and o for p and quite often tapping the letter next to the one I think I use. Probably old age coming for me 🙂

Haul: My Paula’s Choice order came in on Wednesday! I got more of the mattifying/oil absorbing primer, the hydrating face mask, redness repairing serum, and some samples of the hydrating cleanser to use as a makeup remover next week!

Weekend plans: I’m leaving 6am on Monday, and I’m spending the week in the States!!! Despite living an hour and a half away from the boarder, I haven’t gone to America in 10 years. I’m planning on going to Ulta for the first time and picking up some things we don’t get here in Canada!!!! So if anyone has any rec’s for me let me know!!!

Do I like going to concerts: Not really!! I have issues with loud noises, they give me panic attacks. So a concert sounds like my worst nightmare ahaha!

Tammy Avatar

Shannon, Enjoy your visits to the States! There are so many great products at Ulta, I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding more goodies than you can purchase! I’ll be waving to you from Illinois!

Anne Avatar

Haul: I went with my mom to the outlet mall nearest us that has some CCOs (Estee Lauder and Lancome) and lucked out. At the Estee Lauder one (which is much better anyways and has better customer service) they had a ton of MAC products (even Ruby Woo and Soar!) so I got a few I didn’t already have- Boldly Bare lip liner, a Modern Twist Kajal Liner in Swamped, a Technakohl Liner in Smoothblue, and two of the Liptensity lipsticks in Hellebore and Cordovan. At the Lancome Outlet I got the 1 oz version of the Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate (which I was going to buy full price soon so lucky me!). I also actually tried on clothes and go a bunch of really great tops at the Banana Republic Factory Store for like the price of Old Navy shirts, though I’m still recovering from that two days on (the feeling is slowly coming back to my arms and I can turn my head a bit more…). I will also probably pick up one of the Brow Wiz’s for half off when they show up on Ulta’s site this evening.

Weekend plans: Recover from said outlet malls and hope the windstorm outside doesn’t drop a tree on us. A huge branch already fell about 10 feet from the apartment…

Do you like going to concerts?: It depends. Crowds make my anxiety go pretty high, but if it’s assigned seating and a band that is really worth seeing in person (like the Rolling Stones) then I would love to go. I also love smaller jazz & blues clubs that have more up-and-coming artists that sound fantastic in person. I find most current artists are so auto-tuned that they sound a lot worse in person so aren’t worth the money.

Haul: Bluemercury – Picked up the new La Mer Bronzer and By Terry Rouge Click Stick in 500 which is a Bluemercury issued shade.

SpaceNK – By Terry Sun Desugner palette #1 (Light and Tan Vibes I think?) on sale and Glow Expert Stick in 01 Amber Light.

Weekend Plans: I just sorted through my entire pile of samples yesterday, which took up almost half my queen size bed to make a goody bag for a friend. She and her husband will be over on Sunday for the Masters tournament with us and she’ll go home with a huge bag of things I either don’t want or will never get to. I’m still organizing tomorrow, so she may get another bag or two depending on how it goes when I get into full sized items. Other than that, just typical errands.

Concerts: I love going to concerts and used to go to 3-5 every summer. I still love it, but don’t go nearly as often. It’s a little complicated working around a fireman’s schedule and sleep needs. I’m fairly sure the people of the county appreciate my not keeping him up all hours! Last one we went to was Mumford and Sons on their first US tour. Would definitely recommend seeing them live if you ever have a chance. Amazing.

Lea Avatar

It lets her try things she wouldn’t normally buy for herself and it helps me not let things go to waste. I’ve been making a deliberate effort to get through samples and products I have. It’s not nearly a one in, one out, but it does mean things are being used up.

I like the La Mer bronzer so far. There’s no kick up with it and the four shades. Lend nicely together. There’s shimmer in the highlight shade for sure and a bit in the others, but it doesn’t translate to the face. It works on my fair skin and will work up to medium skin tones for sure. I can’t say how it would work for deep skin tones though. I haven’t used it enough to give it a grade against my Armani or Tom Ford ones yet, but I like the finish on it so far and the compact is big. I haven’t compared product ounces yet, so the pan may be large, but shallow.

Tammy Avatar

Mumford and Sons…when the lead singer is singing, I swear every living thing must become completely silent to listen. His voice in real life is a religious experience. Mumford and Sons is a perfect example of why live music is good–you cannot do his voice justice on recording, it must be live.

Lea Avatar

That’s exactly what it’s like Tammy! Clearly you’ve seen them live too. The show we went to, toward the finale, the band came out into the floor on to a small round stage and sang a cappella and the arena went silent. When the crowd started clapping along they stopped, Marcus Mumford made a shush gesture and they went on. It was beautiful. I’ve seen some amazing live shows (Muse is phenomenal as well – very Pink Floyd reminiscent), but Mumford and Sons is by far the best I’ve seen.

Genevieve Avatar

Yay for Mellon! Well done little doggie, you’re nearly better – thanks to the devotion of your mum and dad and lots of well wishers from this blog.

Haul: Nothing really

Weekend plans: getting our place ready for a surprise 30th birthday party for my daughter in law on Tuesday – just with her family, bridesmaids and a few friends. So I am compiling the shopping list for what I need to make. We will be BBQ the meat and fish, as it is still really sunny and warm here in Melbourne.

Concerts: Yes I do and occasionally go to one. I prefer seeing plays and musicals live.

Genevieve Avatar

I loved Riverdance also!
I have seen the Book of Mormon – which was great; Matilda and Kinky Boots.
I generally go to the late afternoon sessions and have dinner in town afterwards. I usually go with my girl friends.
I don’t go to concerts so much now because of the hassle of getting to the stadiums and the really expensive prices.

Thank you for your kind wishes for Anika. She didn’t want to go to a restaurant to celebrate her 30th because it is just too difficult with two little ones, so I thought an early surprise party would be a good way to mark the day. My son’s present to her was a visit to a day spa for both of them and we had the children. Lots of people are also helping with the food, bringing things as I would have no hope of doing this with the littlies around.

Genevieve Avatar

Yes, there will be. I bought her a new hairdryer because her old one was starting to play up, as well as some money to buy some new clothes.
I am pretty sure her parents and grandmother will give her some clothing vouchers too.
Anika is a lovely person, a devoted mum and a wonderful wife to our son, so we wanted to mark this special day for her.

Haul: MAC Extra Dimension blush in Sweets for my Sweet and Cream Cup lipstick. Tarte Blush in Rusque and Peaceful

Weekend plans : I need to print photos. Yes people still do that!

Do you like going to concerts: Yes! I saw Panic at the Disco last summer. Absolutely fantastic! Love to see them again!!

Erica Avatar

I got it yesterday and tried it briefly. It is insanely pigmented with a beautiful shimmer. They are all pigmented with lovely sheens/shimmers. Can be sheered out but built up for intensity if you like. I had a hard time deciding which one to get. I actually drove to Nordstrom to check out the Chanel Code Harmony blush. Thought it was too sheer and had horrible fallout. Not worth it imo so went out to MAC and was super impressed with these new blushes. I’d pick them up before MAC discontinued them:)

Haul: None this week ? but have bought a few items online that will arrive next week!

Plans for weekend: I’ve had what I hope is a tummy bug and not a Crohns flare all week so not been feeling brilliant. If I’m up to it we’ll go to the local Sea Life centre which is basically a big aquarium with lots of fish, our 3 year old daughter would love it.

Do I enjoy going to concerts? It’s a bit difficult for me to appreciate the subtleties of classical music as I’m deaf but I have been to a Gaelic soft rock concert a long time ago which was a lot of fun!

Genevieve Avatar

Oh Claire, I hope it is just a minor tummy bug and not a Crohn’s flare up – my friend’s daughter has this and I know how awful that can be.
I love Gaelic music as well and one of my favourite groups is a duo called Lumiere. Beautiful Gaelic music by two lovely girls.

Claire L Avatar

I’ve been gradually getting better over the week, I’ll know by the middle of next week if it’s a bug or not, it feels like a bug and not a flare up as it’s low level discomfort and pain and general unwellness. Course I could be wrong but fingers crossed not. I did get to go to Deep Sea World today and we all really enjoyed it altho I think it was a bit much for our daughter, she was emotional and getting whingey after 2 hours at which point we went home! I think she’ll enjoy it more when she’s a little older. Very cool small sharks, fish, seals and frogs (not all in the same tanks/pools!)

Runrig was the band I went to see about 22 years ago, my parents loved Capercaillie then and a couple of others.

Claire L Avatar

She’s nearly 3 years old corrected (she was born 3.5 months premature). She’s very active but she loves her books and colouring as well!

Haul: Net-a-Porter travel box, Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks in Ludwig, Double Dare, Lolita and Nahz Fur Atoo; Hourglass Strobe Highlighter in Iridescent, Kaplan MD lipstick in peach, Kat Burki Restorative Dual Acid Peel, Lipstick Queen in Mornin’ Sunshine and Frog Prince, Kevyn Aucoin Lipstick in Saylair, Rouge Terrybly in Carnal Attraction, Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips in Syruptitious, Fortune Cookie and Watermelon Slushie; Caudalie Vineactive Overnight Detox Oil, Caudalie Glycolic Peel, Mizon Blemish Out Pink Spot and Kevyn Aucoin’s Neo-Setting Powder. (At least that’s most of it. It’s been very naughty this week.)

Weekend plans: Facials with my daughter and a touch of work paperwork.

Do you like going to concerts? Just on occasion. We usually prefer live festivals with music rather than big concerts. We’re in Austin where fun with live music in the background is pretty standard faire.

And one last brief story that only fellow makeup junkies will get! Yesterday I was out running errands with my adult son. We stopped for him to pick up his new glasses, and I decided to hang out in the parking lot and open packages that I’d picked up at our mail locker but hadn’t yet opened, while I waited. (I’ll mention this was during rush hour. It was nearly 5 pm when we stopped.) He was done quicker than I anticipated. I’d only managed to open one box from Cult Beauty, which contained plenty of small stuff. As I tried to quickly get it in the car so we could leave, I dropped several items. I thought I’d picked up everything I dropped. Once I got home I took my time getting a drink, talking to my husband and so forth. I was home for almost an hour when I went back to opening packages and realized that my Kevyn Aucoin Neo-Setting Powder, part of that Cult order — the item I was most excited about, was not in the package. I’d unboxed it while waiting so knew it wasn’t missing from my package. After a desperate search of my car, I realized that it was most likely on the ground at the optometrists’ parking lot. I tried calling, but of course the office was closed. It took almost half an hour to drive back in rush hour, expecting it would either be gone or ruined. When I arrived, I searched the parking lot and grassy areas and realized it wasn’t there. I was about to leave when I noticed a small box on a large rock by the front door of the business. It was my missing compact, still in the box, but it had tire tracks and had apparently been run over. So you can imagine my shock and amazement when I opened the box and realized the powder was in perfect shape. The case had no damage whatsoever. Anyway, only another make up junkie could appreciate my sorrow and then excitement. On another note, wow!, those Kevyn Aucoin Palettes are built to last!

So pleased that Mellan is receiving good test results

Hauls: Second order of The Ordinary products arrived from Beautylish. Well.ca had a sale on certain The Ordinary products but most were OOS so their customer service extended the sale prices to me when they restocked, so took advantage of that today. Am enjoying the products that I’ve integrated into my skincare routine and added 2 more this week. So far, enjoying results of firmer, softer skin.

Weekend Plans: My twin sister is stopping in for a few days on her way back from a conference. Can’t wait to see her!! We’re celebrating our birthday early since we’ll be together. What fun!!

Like Going to Concerts: I live for going to concerts and always have. Great seats and great company are musts, otherwise I’d prefer to go by myself. My sister and I don’t live near each other right now, so we plot and plan about the concerts we’d like to see and how we might see them together. My spouse isn’t into concerts but will go to see a few bands. Some concerts I could have easily seen multiple times. They’re the spice of life for me.
