Free for Haul Friday, Volume #365
Share any beauty goodies you may have picked up in the last week or so, or maybe what’s on your way or on your wish list for next week or month. 🙂
- Haul: I picked up 2x Origins A Perfect World Moisturizer, and then I also snagged Huda Beauty’s palette and Bite’s Mauvember lipstick (hope to have swatches soon). I, of course, did also shop the VIB Rouge sale online – lots of Surratt eyeshadows, BUXOM lipstick set, three Giorgio Armani Lip Magnets, the new Smashbox Black Cherry and Tarte Bestie lipsticks, Givenchy Brow Gel, Anastasia Brow Pencil, Dyson Dryer! I need to do my polish/perfume order (as they go ground) later today.
- Weekend plans: Hang out with my mother-in-law and brother-in-law for most of it, but hopefully get some writing in, too 🙂
- What’s your favorite animal?: Mellan 😉 Okay, other than my own dog, I really dig camels. I think they’re such a cool animal!
Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group! 🙂
HAUL: I ordered Bobbi Brown Afternoon Glow and Sunset Glow ::makes guilty puppy face::. I’m pretty sure I will like them because I’m a fan of the permanent two that I own. And all four are fairly different colors. I happened to have some Paypal credit… and I don’t plan on buying anything at the Sephora sale (just not craving anything else right now)… so that helped swallow the price tag of $90 for the both of them. #yikes
WEEKEND: Have to take my car in for repairs. #gulp
FAVORITE ANIMAL: Cats, domestic or wild.
Oooh, those two are so pretty. Hope you enjoy your new highlighters!
Haul: I ordered the EL Gritty & Glow Palette this morning via the VIB Rouge sale – so excited for that! I was thinking about getting one of the Sephora brand sheet mask holiday sets, but someone suggested to me yesterday, very randomly, that the Innisfree masks available via Amazon are much cheaper and even better. So I ordered an assorted pack of those. While I was buying those I saw that I could also get an assorted Tony Moly sheet mask set that were also less than $1 per mask, so I ordered those too. 🙂
Weekend plans: We are supposed to get our bathroom coutertops installed today (FINALLY), but the installers were due at 8:00 AM and are therefore already an hour late, so….?
What’s your favorite animal?: I am obsessed with all things canine – obviously my own two little monsters, but I’ve always been fascinated by and enamored with all dogs, wolves, foxes, etc. So cute, so smart!
Yay! I hope you enjoy the new Estee Edit palette, Julia!
Julia – I bought the Gritty + Glow palette today too (in-store, so I have it in my possession). It is GORGEOUS! I’ve not played with the highlighter side yet (except to use Snowlit as a shadow highlighter). You are going to love it!
Now I wish I had just bought in person, I feeling very impatient! ?
Julia, you are going to LOVE it! The shadows are amazing and you seem to get a lot for your money! I find Sephora orders (not that I order all that often) arrive REALLY fast, so maybe you will have it by Monday. My only problem was getting the palettes out of the packaging (and I didn’t want to cut off the covering cello/plastic just in case I wanted to return it….since there wasn’t a tester in store – they were just putting out a pristine 2nd one for that purpose – I hadn’t tried anything and was being cautious). Oh, you are going to be SOOOO happy!
Haul: Repurchased my Ouai Hair Oil and finally tried out the Revlon HD Matte Lip Color in Passion. So far, two thumbs up for the lipstick! It’s more like a lipstain and friendlier to my dry lips than liquid lipsticks at the moment.
Weekend plans: I’m travelling to Belfast this weekend for the Game of Thrones tour! I’m so excited, it’s been on my bucket list for ages.
Favourite animal: I really like cats LOL!
How do you use the hair oil/what does it do most for you, Kimberly?
I apply it to the ends of my towel-dried/semi-damp hair after washing. It’s amazing at smoothing out my frizzy, dry, colour-damaged hair and makes it look so much silkier and healthier. The strong jasmine scent takes a little getting used to and it’s pricy, but it’s a HG for me, along with John Frieda’s Extra Strength Frizz Ease Serum and my Bonacure Hairtherapy Moisture Spray Conditioner.
Very nice! Might have to check it out! Thank you, Kimberly 🙂
How exciting travelling to Belfast! I hope you enjoy the weekend, it sounds like so much fun.
Picking Mellan is totally legit! Camels are pretty cool though…
Haul:
Beautylish: Smith & Cult Book of Eyes Eye Quad Palette (Interlewd and Soft Shock), Make-Up Atelier Pearl Powder (PP20 White Purple), $20 Gift Card (GWP). I’m thinking the MA pearl powder might do double duty as a highlighter. If it works out, going to stock up since they’re only $12!
Ciate London (10% off): Perfect Paint Job, Triple Shot Mascara (Midnight Blue), Beautiful Cuticles, Mani Marker (Lady Luck and Vintage Vamp). Trying the mani marker tonight. Hope it works bc anything to make life easier.
ColourPop: Hello Kitty – Mama’s Apple Pie, Hello Pretty, Konichiwa, Let’s Play, Surprise. My first ColourPop order. Finally got sucked in. They just shipped. Props to them though for launching a collection without running out or crashing their site.
Deciem: NIOD Fractionated Eye-Contour Concentrate. In the process of switching my skincare since I will no longer buy EL (bc of the debacle). I LOVE the 4 items I picked up already and needed to add an eye serum. Being delivered today. Even better, the line is really inexpensive.
Essence Cosmetics (25% off): All About Eyeshadow (Bronze and Roses), 2 in 1 Eyeshadow and Liner (Light Me Up), Superfine Eyeliner Pen Waterproof (Black), Me & My Umbrella Matt Eyeshadow (Take Me to the Clouds)
Dolls Kill (Clearance plus 20% off): Medusa’s Makeup Eye-Mazing Eyeshadow (Electric White), Ardency Inn Modster Long Play Lip Vinyl (Dubstep Remix), Rituel de Fille Forbidden Lipstick (Written in Blood). Hasn’t shipped.
Illamasqua (10% off): Powder Blusher (Thrust and Morale), Beyond Powder (OMG), Lipstick (Underworld). OMG is…well…OMG!
JINSoon (30% off): Dandy, Moxie
Sephora (20% off): Laura Mercier Candleglow Sheer Perfecting Powder (Fair), Chosungah 22 24H Raybeam Highlighter (Pink Glow), SEPHORA COLLECTION Foot Mask (Almond), Urban Decay Vice Lipstick (Holiday Kiss Collection -Troublemaker), ARDENCY INN MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments (Royal – Thanks Katherine for letting me know about this!) Just some basic stock-ups plus the UD lippie and Ardency Inn.
Ulta (20% off and used points. Total order cost me $2.54!): Julep (Charcoal Konjac Sponge, Love Your Bare Face Hydrating Cleansing Oil, What Your Skin Needs Restorative Facial Milk), Anastasia Beverly Hills (Clear Brow Gel, Brow Powder Duo in Ash Brown, and Liquid Lipstick in Vintage), UD Waterline Eye Pencil (Rail). My first Julep. Love the konjac sponge and the cleanser. The facial milk is probably one of the only products that actually made me physically gag. The smell is horrendous. I’ve already gotten rid of it (without even using).
Weekend plans: Possibly going to the H&M that opened near here or a new prestige outlet mall that opened about an hour away.
What’s your favorite animal?: Trouble and Kat! Seriously, I love all animals but am a crazy cat lady.
Great haul, Michele! The Beautylish sale is huge but so many things sold out quickly, lol!
I did what I know several people did: I put everything I wanted in my cart the day before. I get up really early (between 3-4 am EST) so I was able to access the sale through the early access link before a lot of people got the chance. Still, I wish Beautylish provided more offers throughout the year.
What’s the EL debacle? I was just going to put an order in for some EL skincare.
Thanx.
I love anything feline & I’ll be working in my gallery this weekend (photography).
EL shipped my order 2 day. UPS lost the package. Then EL refused to immediately issue me a credit for the order even though they sent instructions to UPS to return to sender if the package was found. They said they wouldn’t issue a refund until they received the package! (The tracking and UPS both indicated it had been lost.) I had to file a credit card dispute to try to get my money back. I was stunned that they would treat any customer so poorly (and I’m top tier with their site!)
Oh ok. Thank you! I’ve never ordered from EL & usually buy it in a dept store or duty free shop. I’ll certainly not buy from ythem online as there’s about a 50/50 chance a package will disappear being shipped to India.
Let me know what you think of the Rituel de Fille lipstick. I had a bunch of people recommend the brand to me, and the stuff I bought from them (Shadowself lipstick, Serpent de Mer and Nightshade eye soots) was AWFUL quality.
Absolutely. I’ve never tried the brand before. Dolls Kill still hasn’t shipped but when they do, it’s coming Priority 2 Day so hopefully some time next week.
Alice, I received and swatched the RF lipstick (Written in Blood) today. Written in Blood is gorgeous (cool-toned red)! It swatched beautifully: pigmented, creamy, opaque in one swipe. It did leave a stain on my arm where I swatched it that I had to use special cleaner to remove so I’m inclined to think it’s also going to be long-wearing and as it wears off will leave a pretty even stain. I hope to actually wear it over this coming weekend. I will def. purchase more of their products to try.
That’s good. Maybe their formula for reds is better than non-trad colors, or I just got a bad tube. Shadowself was dry, patchy, and settled into my lip lines within 2 hours even when I used primer and liner.
Have you tried the Smith & Cult eyeshadow quads before? I’ve been interested for a while, but haven’t taken the plunge.
No, not yet. I’ve been looking at them for a while. They shipped today via 2 day so I should have them early next week. I’ll be posting the swatches sometime shortly after. If I remember, I’ll pop back and let you know how they do after I have a chance to wear them.
Oh ok-I’m looking forward to your swatches! That sounds great, thank you! I hope they end up being good quality. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Smith & Cult nail polish and lip gloss.
Nicole, Wanted to get back with you. I received and swatched the S&C palettes this week. They are truly awful. Both of them. I’ll get the swatches posted probably within the next week (I try to post LE or holiday items first). But the short version is – save your money. You’re welcome to message me on FB if you want more deets now.
Thank you for letting me know, Michele! Wow, I’m actually kind of surprised. I really did expect them to do well. I’m looking forward to your swatches nonetheless. Thank you!
Honestly, IMO, save your money and buy the Essence palette(s) instead. It may be a bit before I get those swatches posted but I’ve bought Vintage, Bronze, and Rose and all 3 have swatched beautifully. Bronze and Rose also have shades that will work perfectly as highlighters too.
I love the Ciate Triple Shot mascara, I got it in black in a set with the Fun palette, wasn’t expecting to like it but I do.
Good to know. I was planning on trying it today with an eye look using the Illamasqua eye pigment in Axolotyl. I took a chance since I do like their Wonderwand mascara.
Haul: I’m super angry that the BÉSAME COSMETICS Mini Lipstick Set & Brightening Face Powder Trio sold out at some ungodly hour this morning on the Canadian site (it was still in stock at 1:30am est)…. I mean really when did the 20Rouge code become active!!!…. AND Sephora still won’t let us order from the US site…. I know there both still there… grrr 😐 At the very least I wanted to get the Mini Lipstick Set but both are removed from the Canadian site so no chance of a restock.
I did order with my PayPal balance (yes for PayPal):
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palette Volume 4 – Shadows
Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette
Huda Beauty Lip Contour Set in Trophy Wife &Muse
Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in Sell Out (100 point perk)
Weekend plans: Working and resume submitting.
What’s your favourite animal?: I love cats & dogs in general, but I wish I could have a pet chipmunk. lol
Oh nooo! 🙁
I’m not sure when it started, but I sleepily placed my order just before midnight PST. I was trying to stay up, and I made it until about 11, where I just set my alarm to get up, haha.
So it would have been 3am here. >_> oh well. I wish they state when the switch over is on their site.
I’m mad because there was no indication of low stock either… 😛
Oh no! That’s crummy. Those Besame sets looked really nice. I don’t think the brand ships to Canada either. Please pop back and let us know what you think of the Huda duo. I had looked at that and ended up not getting it bc it was another expensive week for me.
This set is nice. I got Icon in full size and these mini have the same consistency. The lip liner feels like Urban Decay’s formula as well.
Awesome, thank you! Sephora messed up my order and didn’t ship an item. Instead of giving me a refund or sending out the item, they issued a store credit (which i think is crappy). Maybe I’ll use it for the set.
Oh dear, maybe you could order from Cult Beauty in the UK, I ordered the Bésame set this week? Fingers crossed for you xx
Sweet dreams Mellan!
*MAC Pigment in Rose ( my first MAC pigment, and Christine you are right — they’re great! I was able to use regular primer, no glitter glue, and there was no fallout, and it lasted 8-9 hrs on my super oily lids, but I still prefer convenience of pressed) , Dr. Dennis Gross Retinol +Ferulic Acid Skincare kit, DHC Cleansing Oil ( 50% off), Chanel Stylo in Eros (backup -I’m blaming Wwendy for this), MAC Kling It On (backup), and MAC Nutcracker Sweet Copper (backup -I found 1 left in store at Bloomindales, couldn’t believe my luck), Too Faced Candlelight Glow Duo (deluxe sample). Also have a massive haul from ColourPop x Hello Kitty (ordered entire collection except for 2 items-suppose to be coming Saturday, so will report back later)
*Weekend – massive spring cleaning of house/garage, dinner with friends
*Favorite animal – dogs and horses
WOOHOO!!! I am thrilled to hear it, Katherine. MAC Pigments made me fall in love with makeup, and I used to use them in almost EVERY look – but these days I feel like they’ve become an underrated product!
Haul: Morphe x Kathleenlights palette, Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly palette, Jack Black lip balm set, Essence Pure Nude highlighter, Revlon Volume & Length mascara
Weekend plans: My sister is in town for the weekend so just hang with her 🙂 church on Sunday
What’s your favorite animal? I think I really like foxes!
Let us know how the Kathleen Lights palette is! 🙂
Have fun with your sister, Joyce!
I like it a lot so far. Maybe because it’s new, but I’ve been reaching for it almost everyday lately. It has some of my favorite kinds of colors: taupey purple, smoldering dark green, goldish bronze.
I love that it has a dark charcoal brown. It’s perfect for my black eyebrows. I like MAC Brun also, but this one is cooler with more black. Awesome!
I use almost everything without primer because I feel like products should hold to that standard, and they’ve lasted really well. They also apply well with synthetic brushes, which is something I use to determine pigmentation.
What do you think is Mellan’s favorite holiday? Lol !
YAY! 🙂
Probably Christmas, because everyone comes to see him and gives him treats and toys, LOL.
Nice haul, Christine! I know you don’t normally review tools/appliances but I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on the Dyson dryer. I want that so bad but it’s hard to shell out $320 for it. I just purchased the two new Drunk Elephant travel size sets but at full-price because I’m VIB and was afraid they would be sold out by the time the VIB discount starts on the 11th. Not sure what I’m buying when the discount kicks in…Happy Friday!
We’ll see if I feel like I can offer any useful info – I’m pretty hair stupid, unfortunately!
British Beauty Blogger did a review on the Dyson if you’re interested: http://britishbeautyblogger.com/hair/dyson-supersonic-hair-dryer/
Thank you!
Haul: i picked up MAC’s Sweet Vision Magic Dust powder and Saucy Little Darling lipstick. I was feeling stubborn that day and did not order the Nutcracker Sweet Copper cheek palette, and of course it sold out and I regretted it. Then last Saturday I got a message from MAC–it was in stock for about 30 minutes. I ordered it, thinking MAC would send me a message later that they could not fill my order. But it came in this week, along with the Food Luck Trolls lipglosses in Twerkoise, Bubble Butt, and Dance Off Pants Off (I couldn’t resist the sale price).
I went to Chicago last Saturday and got a makeover at Chanel. They put me in the Architectonic colors and Ultraberry lipstick. I really loved both and ordered them online when I returned home. I did not open the eyeshadow because I wanted to see Christine’s review. I was heartbroken to see it scored so low yesterday. It will probably go back this week?
On a positive note, I absolutely LOVE the new Kat Von D Matte Metal palette! I promised to report back with my thoughts this week. I wasn’t going to get it because I already have Mi Vida Loca Remix and all her individual shadows, but when I saw how different the colors were from what I already have, I decided to give it a go. I truly expected to be disappointed but instead i have discovered my favorite Kat Von D palette! I did four looks with it this week and all were beautiful. I love it so much that I picked up another one this morning at the Sephora sale for my daughter, and I haven’t done this since last year’s Urban Decay Spectrum palette. There are some palettes that are not to be missed and this is one of those.
Weekend plans: Finally my birthday party! Taking the whole family to see Dr. Strange in 3D. My husband will be giving me the Wayne Goss anniversary brush set. I can’t wait to use them!
Favorite animal: Cats
Oh, I’m so glad you ended up getting Copper in your order after all! That is great news 🙂
Yay for MetalMatte!!
Happy birthday!
I got the copper face compact only because in Germany it was delayed. So when the holiday collection came out in Germany it was not sold out because they did not have it Yet. And then a few days after the release they got it and I was luckily on the website. This was the day before they sell it in stores so I did not have to get up early to buy it in store the next day. I think in store I would not have had a chance to get it. Sometimes you need luck for LE items.
Happy Birthday Tammy! Glad you’re loving Kat Von D MetalMatte! It’s my top fave palette right now, and between the quality and variety, it’s going to be very hard to de-throne as a fave
Yes, I am really just so pleasantly surprised by this palette!
Happy birthday! Nice haul. Oooh a Chanel makeover – very nice. That brush set looked very nice. I love the Goss brushes I have. I didn’t know you could see Dr. Strange in 3D. Sounds like fun!
Happy birthday!
Happy Bday! And thanks for remembering to report on the KVD!
Haul: MAC mini lipstick holiday set in the nude colors (so cute, is this the first time MAC has done mini lipsticks? I can’t recall seeing minis before and I’ve been buying MAC for 5+ years now) and a Soap & Glory lipstick in Cinnamon Beige (surprised to see this brand at Walgreens now)
Weekend Plans: mass fall cleaning and family birthday parties
Favorite Animal: leopard, such beautiful creatures
I think it might be the first time they’ve done a set of them! I have seen minis before but usually in multi-type kits (like eyes/face or something).
I would Love to bring them out more mini lipsticks.
Haul: Maybelline lash sensational and big eyes mascaras, also repurchases of my holy grail brow pencil (ulta in-house brand) and conditioner (pacifica coconut long and strong!)
Hoping to pick up glamglow supermud, estee lauder double wear light foundation, the origins maskimizer spray, and hopefully the mellow egg body butter if it comes back in stock during the VIB sale. Also maybe the cane + austin mattifying primer and the MUFE XL metal palette.
Weekend plans: I have a date! But other than that I’ll be writing essays all weekend.
Favorite animal: I can’t choose just one! I love dogs, cats, and dolphins
Hopefully all your goodies are in stock when it’s time for you to shop, Naomi!
I think Maybelline Lash Sensational is my fav drugstore brand mascara. I have it in black and the black with the sparkle. I’ve never used any of the Pacifica hair products – do you like the conditioner?
I LOVE pacifica products!! the coconut conditioner is my 3rd time repurcahsing so yes I love it a lot! Makes my dry, color treated hair silky soft and healthy! And its silicone free! The other products I’ve tried from them is their coconut face wipes and cactus micellar water (both of which I didn’t like) and their kale face wash (WHICH IS AMAZING) and their glow baby scrub (also super bomb!!). I’ve also tried their oil control primer which I was meh about; I didn’t dislike it but I ended up decluttering it since I have other primers I like better
And I really do like the maybelline lash sensational!! And the big eyes is def a dupe for the tarte lights camera lashes in my opinion. Idk why I ever ventured away from drugstore mascaras!
Hmmmm – I think I’ll try the conditioner next time I order. I use the coconut face wipes to wipe off swatches but have never used them on my face! I also use the glow scrub which I also love. Haven’tr tried the kale face wash yet either.
You know, I keep buying HE mascaras (and have tones of free samples) and I always seem to reach for the Maybelline when I want a really great lash look!
A nice Sephora employee gave me a friends and family code last weekend, so I was able to get my sale haul in early (although no promises that I won’t make another one!). I got my standard EL moisturizer; the UD ozone primer pencil (a staple!); and a ton of lipsticks! UD TMI and Bruise; Shiseido Bloodstone; NARS Kate and Shirley; MUFE C211; and Bobbi Brown Raisin — an old favorite that I finished about a year and a half ago and decided that I needed back in my stash. Most of the colors are lovely (the NARS ones especially) but Bruise is going back (applied very patchy) and so is Bloodstone (a beautiful color but too warm for me).
Nice! Happy you were able to shop without a frenzy 😉
I love NARS Shirley!
It’s really stunning!!
I love to put on a tacky, opaque nude gloss, wait an hour, and then top with Shirley. It’s not the same if I put nude gloss on top of Shirley, has to be the other way around.
not a haul but love the dog!!!!!! 🙂
Thanks Ana! 🙂
Haul: Nothing, I’m waiting for the VIB sale next week.
Weekend plans: sleeping off my terrible jet lag. I got home (western part of North America) from (Eastern) Europe on Tuesday and have been a wreck. I’m back at work but still totally messed up and tired at inappropriate times. I have to finish unpacking and to fold all the clothes I washed and are still in the dryer two days later. Ugh.
Favorite animals: Coelacanths!
What’s on your VIB list?
Rest up!
Right now I am definitely planning to get the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance in 01, and probably getting the ABH MR. I’m also considering the most neutral brownish (lol I forget what it’s called) small Viseart palette. I don’t exactly need it but I am dying to try Viseart and this seems like a good intro. There are a few more things I’m on the fence about (new foundation? could be a good time to stock up! replacing a blush in a color I love with a bad formula with a dupe in a better formula?). We’ll see how spendy I’m feeling in a week.
Both great products that you have on your must-have (or most-likely) list!
I think you’re talking about the Theory palette in Cashmere! I love that one, definitely recommend it. 🙂
Coelacanths are cool! Have you read ‘A Fish Caught in Time: the Search for the Coelacanth’ by Samantha Weinberg? Love the book, such a fascinating history!
Yes, I have! It’s a really good book!
Haul: About to find out at my swatching party at the Sephora sale. 🙂
Weekend plans: We have got to get the house back in order from some construction. Other than that, not much.
Favorite animal? Dogs in general, mine in particular. 🙂 Their names are Cali and Gus. I also have a great fondness for elephants. Their matriarchal society, their sense of family, how they mourn their dead. Good thing I can’t have one, cuz I would! Love the critters.
Have fun at Sephora 😀
Linda, I HIGHLY recommend the Kat Von D Matte metal palette!
Hi Tammy! Thanks for checking in about it. I know I’m going with something brighter for sure….
You’re shopping the sale in person? Brave woman! Can’t wait to hear what you pick up. Also, i second Tammy’s suggestion – the Kat Von D palette is really worth having. Nice mix of finishes, a good selection of transition shades, and nicely wearing shadows.
Linda, I have a Cali too…she’s a 21 year old calico Maine Coon cat.
21 years. That is really old. They always say Maine coon do not get old. I have 2 Maine coon cats and had never Maine coon before. My normal Cat I had before was also 20 years old. My Maine coons are only 6 and 5 right now. So I can hope they reach 20, too.
Haul: finally have the Estee Edit Gritty & Glow palette (it just arrived with their latest shipment at my local Sephora and they got two from the back – one for me and one to open to be the floor sample; 3 SA’s were crowded around as they wanted to see it too AND I told the one that I’d already seen it here at Temptalia and gave her a lot of info about how great the site is and how she really needs to check it out). I also got Fresh Umbrian Clay Exfoliating Scrub and Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist and Sephora Cashmere Coat eyeshadow. I wanted to get Nars Cream Cleanser but this store doesn’t carry Nars skincare so I’ll have to order online (GASP…a biggie for me!)
Weekend plans: I ditched the gym today (even though I promised myself I was going to have a long workout…I am just too weary) so I need to go tomorrow. Not sure what else….maybe a walk along our waterfront park with hubs since the weather is supposed to be really nice.
Favourite animal: a Golden Retriever. I still miss our Daisy every day and go back and forth about getting another dog but we enjoy having the freedom to travel at a moment’s notice or just not to have to rush home now that the kids are all grown and we no longer have any pets.
Thanks for spreading the love, Mariella 😉
NARS skincare is underrated! I quite like it (and I’m not surprised since Shiseido is the parent company anyway). Have you had the Tatcha mist before?
My parents lasted about two months with no dogs! I don’t know if I’ll be able to last at all, but I know that traveling (or difficult of traveling) is something that is very hard for me with Mellan around.
I have a NARS serum that I really like and it smells nice to boot! You rarely see it talked about though, which is a shame.
I hope you enjoy your weekend and spending time with your family, Christine!
Haul: Nothing yet. I just can’t get into shopping right now, which is so weird.
Weekend plans: Maybe going out to eat somewhere, doing some exploring of the different towns around here.
What is your favorite animal?: I can’t say that I have a definite favorite, but I do find animals that are very social and intelligent to be interesting, like wolves, ravens, elephants, dolphins, etc.
So far, we definitely are! 😀
Enjoy your weekend!!
That’s great! =D
Thank you!
No shopping? Move lag? Hope you have a lovely weekend exploring!
I know, right? I’m perplexed. It could be that, but honestly I think I’m getting a cold and that’s probably why. I did end up getting a few things that I’ve been thinking of for a while, just because I felt like I would be mad at myself later if I didn’t, but I placed the order with extremely low enthusiasm. Thank you! Exploring has been called off for today, but maybe tomorrow will be better. I hope you have a great weekend!
🙁 Hope the weekend gets better for you!
Thank you, Michele!
Cutie Mellan 🙂
Haul: Nothing this week. We have friends over from Belgium so I’ve been too busy entertaining to shop 😉
Weekend plans: Recover from this past week, lol, we have a rough (read: very short) night ahead!
What’s your favorite animal?: Doggies!
Feel better!!
Haul: Bite Opal/Jam mini duo, Urban Decay Rapture blush, and a Sephora honey sleeping mask. I had a 10% off from Sephora for finally renewing my VIB haha. Now I’m editing my wishlist for the 20% sale next week.
Weekend plans: what other than more work on the house!
Favorite animal: My cats and corn snake obvs 🙂 Birds in the phasianidae and corvidae families, loons, spiders, bats, snakes, llamas, elephants. I’m also a big fan of Godzilla 🙂
What are some of the must-haves on your wish list so far, Alice?
Bite agave lip mask, EE Gritty & Glow palette, Origins ginzing eye cream, and maybe the UD Junkie lip palette.
All good picks 😀
Haul: Anastasia Modern Renaissance (finally) and the Algenist Drop & Glow Luminizing Duo and the Colourpop Out and About lip trio.
Weekend plans: Saturday going to a vineyard with hubby and friends. Sunday relax as much as possible. And clean my house (which I have yet again put off)
What’s your favorite animal?: I never know how to answer this question… I really love all animals but I guess my boring answer would be dogs? Anything furry and cuddleable (not a word)
Congrats on finally getting Modern Renaissance!!
Haul: Nothing, I’m waiting for VIB. I have yet to tell my husband how much I plan to spend. I think I might skip that conversation.
Weekend Plans: Video game grinding, food shopping, sunday game with friends, and hopefully some rest cause I’m super stressed. Work has been hard and lots of people getting public ass chewings about some major f’ups. While justified for a private talking to, this has just made everyone afraid and stressed and worried for the people who forked up.
Favorite Animal: That’s like asking me to choose a favorite kid! Ummm, my dog of course, but I love all animals deeply. I constantly struggle with eating them. If I wasn’t allergic to dairy, eggs, and peanuts I’d be a full on vegetarian. I tried being vegan but got very ill from that. So I just try to eat the most organic humane meat I can. I cry when I see dead wildlife on the roadside. I prefer animals to people. Even animals I don’t like like great white sharks deserve compassion and conservation. Sorry I know this was supposed to be a fun question. I am really into with dolphin/whale language and I’m excited chimps are now using tools in the wild.
Get some rest, Erin! Hopefully next week is better 🙂
I could have written that post about animals. It mirrors my feelings exactly. I struggle with eating them, but for some of the same reasons can’t go veg either. I didn’t want to sound too crazy here, but I don’t kill spiders and bugs in the house, but capture and release them. I tell my husband killing them is “genocide.” He rolls his eyes, 🙂 The mice too — I’ve even driven miles away so they don’t come back and chew up the insulation! 🙂
My first time leaving a haul comment! I usually don’t make large makeup purchases but with the VIB sale, I could not resist stocking up on some loves and getting some wishlist items.
HAUL: Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Serum, DevaCurl Coconut Curl Styler, ABH Perfect Brow Pencil (Taupe), FAB Eye Duty Triple Remedy, Marc Jacobs Air Blush Flesh & Fantasy, Drunk Elephant C Firma, Lancôme eyebrow pencil, Dior Fix It 2-In-1 Prime & Conceal, Marc Jacobs Gloss (Pretty Thing), YSL Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick (9 Nude in Private), Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Ferulic + Retinol set
WEEKEND PLANS: Move!! I did some travel for work this weekend and spent a lot of time at airports. I cant wait to spend some time outside this weekend. I also want to repot some plants we have
FAV ANIMAL: I love love love dogs. My second favorite is our pea puffer fish. He’s so cute!
I totally read that as you were moving from one place to the next, not just moving around, lol!
Great Sephora haul, Lena!
And happy first FFHF comment!
Haul: 40% off Milani at CVS:
Milani Conceal and Perfect foundation (dupe for UD All Nighter!), Milani eye primer, Milani anti-feathering lip liner
Weekend plans: Date night 2 with a guy I really like. May have another date scheduled for Sunday.
What’s your favorite animal?: Red Panda
Good luck on date #2!!
A sleepy boy! Idk why our fuzzies love to sleep in….doorways?!? ?
Haul: UD LE Vice Lipstick in Troublemaker! Saving up for VIB sale on the 11th.
Weekend plans: Well, I didn’t do my roots last week, so I suppose I had better do that. If I have any energy. Also, some fall cleaning so that everything is in order for the nicer weather. Yesterday was interesting, speaking of!
What’s your favorite animal: Pretty obvs it’s cats! ALL cats! Of them all; Cheetahs, Black Panthers and Caracals. Of domestic? Bengals, Savannahs and Maine Coons. Wilder domestic cats!
Beyond cats? Peacocks!
Good call on saving up for the VIB sale, Nancy! 🙂 It will be well worth the wait!
Haul- New chandeliers for my garage conversion, storage cupboards for my craft supplies which is one of the functions of the new conversion. From the VIB Rouge sale I have ordered all of the Bite duo lipsticks, color switch, Dior cushion foundation, Tatcha sampler and Clinique Cheek Pop in Black Honey. I ordered the Wayne Goss Face set and the Wayne Goss eye set from Beautylish for my daughter for Christmas and for myself I got the Ellis Faas Silver eye shadow.
Weekend Plans- Nothing special, still working on the garage.
Favorite animal- I really love almost all animals. Lately I have been following the Best of Friends animal shelter in Kanab, Utah and they rescue all types of animals from the usual dogs and cats to horses, birds, sheep, etc. I have fallen in love with several of the senior animals. I would get a dog but my yard is not fenced and I don’t really have plans to fence it. However, I am thinking about getting a couple of senior cats with special needs. There are a couple of cats that have been there all of their lives and have never had a home who are 15-16 years old. I really want to get a couple. I have deer, wild turkeys, eagles, elk, etc that are on my land all of the time. The deer hang out in my yard and have had their fawns in my yard in the spring. One of the best things about living in Montana.
You will love the new brushes, Deborah! 🙂
You have such a good heart for wanting to take in a senior or special needs animal! They are not easy but just as deserving of our love!
Haul: I’ve been rebuilding my eyeshadows and went a little mad. Received the Mac Nutcracker Sweet Cool Eyeshadow Palette (I know you don’t like it; I’ll let you know what I think of it) and the two Eyeshadow Bags as well as the Zoeva Cool Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette, which looks amazing, and One Wish Lipstick and several Nudestix, most of which I’m returning. They are not worth the price to me, and only two were sealed. Nudestix responded to me on Twitter that until recently, they didn’t seal their product. I really didn’t have a good feeling about that (I bought mine through Sephora). I considered keeping the concealer stick, but then I read about Loreal True Match Crayon Concealer and picked that up. It covers these two weird spots on my forehead that NOTHING else covers, so the concealer too is going back because I can buy at least three of the Loreal crayons for the price of one Nudestix.
Weekend plans: I’m recovering from some surgery (which is how I have had time to check out new eyeshadows), and trying to catch up on the work I missed while really out of it.
What’s your favorite animal?: I grew up with dogs and loved them, but as an adult I’ve only owned cats, all, btw, that have been very “doggie,” which I prefer because I don’t think my fragile ego could handle a cat’s disdain.
Hopefully, the Cool palette works out better for you than I! 🙂
I will have to check out the L’Oreal concealer! Sounds like some powerful stuff!
Haul: I also did the VIB sale online today- I finally got the Marc Jacobs Beauty The (Nude)ist Show Lipstick and Lip Liner Collection; the Bésame Cosmetics Mini Lipstick Set, the Hourglass Illume Sheer Color Trio; and the Marc Jacobs Beauty Collector’s Edition Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick – Blacquer-000 Blacquer
Weekend plans: Maybe another sephora order… Plus a massive NSAID shot which will be great for my pain levels.
What’s your favorite animal?: Aside from my cat, Mao, it could be a lot. Snow leopards are fascinating, as are crows, and Kinkajou, and if we’re talking currently extinct, I’d go with the Moa.
Lots of new lip products, Anne! What are you most excited for?
Hope the shot helps with your pain!
Probably the Marc Jacobs shade Role Play that’s coming in the (Nude)ist Show Lipstick set. I’ve wanted it for AGES.
And I got the shot this morning and it did help! Thanks for asking!
HAUL: Sephora: I picked few items as I was afraid they will sell out if I wait for the VIB sale: the ABH Modern Ren palette, two Shu Uemura oil sets (Half a century of oil in a box & Shu getaway cleansing oil trio, the latter sold out on Sephora CAD); Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil duo; Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Hair Therapy Kit; Bite Beauty Mauvember Lipstick; Algenist Drop & Glow Luminizing Duo.
Clinique Canada: They had a great offer last week: 7-piece Bag for orders 34CAD+ (option for the Chubby Sticks for lips and cheeks: Bright & Bold or Pretty Sweet): Clinique Pop Matte+Primer Lipsticks in Cute Pop, Peony Pop, Beach Pop and the Cheek Pop in Heather. I love the formula of these lipsticks.
Drugstore: I found at the local WalMart some Korean face masks (Purederm Skin Solutions) and I like them so far. I bought the Firming Lift Coenzyme Q-10, the Hydrating Korean Herb Mask for dry skin, the Age Defying Collagen Mask and the Brightening Korean Herb Mask for dry skin.
Also, some kits for dry feet and hands (including soft cotton socks and gloves) from the Canadian brand Dans un Jardin.
Weekend Plans: Study, some shopping, cooking and rest.
Favorite animal: Dogs and horses.
I can relate! I don’t normally stay up for the sale start, but I wanted the Dyson dryer and worried it was going to sell out immediately, LOL!
Haul: I spent $860 this week on four root canals, But that part of treatment is DONE.
I also ordered two Makeup Geek blushes, and a medium Z pallet!! (I’m going to ramble here a bit lol)
I’m driving from Ontario to Montreal this year, and i’m staying for a week at my best friends house. SO I bought the Z pallet, and two blushes (Romance the shimmery coral/orange one, and Soulmate I think the other is? It looks like puppy love. it’s like a plummy purpley shade!!!) And I’m going to put in a sephora brand eye shadow I use as a highlight, and then I’ll put in a my four every day STAPLE eye shadows (Coastal Scents barista, MAC embark, MAC Nylon, and Sephora brand Swan Song!!) So when I’m travelling this year, I can just take this one Z pallet and have cheek and eyes in one!!
I’m also, STRONGLY contemplating getting the Kat Von D Lock it concealer (I’m a MAC NC25 and Light 11 works AMAZINGLY under my eyes!) from the VIB sale next week!! I got a sample of the concealer, and it was the PERFECT shade for me, and it covered my dark purpley under eyes in one coat, and it DIDN’T CREASE AT ALL!!
WEEKEND PLANS: My best friend of 15 years is driving five hours back to our home town, to “take care of me” after my root canals, and then we are driving 4 hours tomorrow to visit her Babcha (Polish for Grandmother!) So my weekend is going to be super busy!!!
FAVOURITE ANIMAL: BUNNIES. I have raised 6 buns. 3 I have owned, and 2 were fosters. And I adore them!! They’re such sweet lil animals!! 😀
Congrats on making it through those root canals, Shannon! Hope your recovery has been going well 🙂
Thank you Christine!!!
For anyone ho might ever need root canals here, they really aren’t painful!! I didn’t even know the dentist started until I stopped him and asked LOL.
It feels like my daw is bruised. And I’m on a liquid diet.
But it could be worse 😀
Great to hear that the root canals were completed without much discomfort. How exciting that you and your best friend will be spending time together and enjoying a short road trip. Enjoy this time together and time with her grandma.
Which colors of the Armani Lip Magnets did you pick out Christine?
I don’t remember at all! I picked a red and a mauve for sure!
I’ll be very interested to see what you think of them, especially given the mattes you test relentlessly. I’ve actually crossed into obsessive territory because I can’t stop talking about how amazing the formula is. I haven’t been this enamoured by a matte before or by a lip formulas longevity. I touched up once over 12 hours today wearing 601. I had to keep checking it out in the mirror at work I was so surprised. It’s been off for a few hours and my lips feel perfectly fine, no dryness. Don’t get me started on the precision of the applicator; lip liners need not apply!
Haul: Geurlain Rouge G- Holiday edition, & the Terracotta Terra India bronzing powder. I wanted to order the Meteroites too. But, I suppose those sold out by the time I could get to them! Bummed about that! Now, I am going to try to hunt them down at full price. Nars Impudique , Bite Mauvember , Tarte Amazonian clay blush color wheel, 2 Giorgio Armani lip Magnents (600,Front Row &400 Four Hundred for All {Thank you for the heads up on those Christine! I read about those somewhere online. Very excited for your reviews! :)} I’m super excited about this Elizabeth & James set “Find Your Nirvana Rollerball”! So fun! I’m thinking about getting one for a Secret Santa gift I need. I also hauled CoverFx drops in Sunlight and Celestial, Jack black it’s the Balm set, Clinique bottom lash mascara, & 2 Clarisonic brush heads. I though was done with the Sephora shopping. But, I went back for the Viseart Bijou Royal palette. That’s just the Sephora sale!!!
Last week I got some items from the Mac Nutracker and Colourpop’s new fall collection. Also KVD metal palette, UD lip palette ( the one at Ulta) , Estee nitty gritty, a few KVD lipsticks. Too much for me and my wallet. But, I had a dry spell for a long time. I needed to. Honestly, I have about 5 things in my Sephora cart right now, lol! But, I don’t think I will but those things right now …Maybe. I spend more at a “sale” for sure! 🙂
Weekend…finally. -gym, errands, clean, unpack. GO TO SEPHORA !!! 🙂 LOL
My favorite animal: my cat and my dog. hmmm. Probably a horse.
Great picks, Nicole! 🙂 I will probably put in one more order between now and the end of the sale, but we shall see!
I’m very curious to see how the Lip Magnets work!
Oohh, do you know what perfumes you’re gonna get? I’ve been getting reeeaally into fragrance lately!
I got the Nirvana Black mega set! I’m oddly drawn in by the scent, even though it is more linear than I normally wear. I’m obsessed with the dry shampoo (normally I am not a fan of the scents of dry shampoos), because it smells great and works well.
But a suggestion – Sephora Favorites for fragrance are good for trying out mainstream scents!
Nice! That’s on my list of fragrances to smell. Then again, like, MOST fragrances are on my list of fragrances to smell.
I’m definitely looking into the various Sephora Favorites sets, both for men and women. (I like wearing both masculine and feminine scents, depending on the day!) Most of them only have two or three fragrances I’m really interested in trying, but then they come with that voucher, which might make it worthwhile…
Update: I spent like an hour and twenty minutes trying out almost aaall the fragrances at my local Sephora on tester strips, got some pretty weird looks from employees, lol. My nose was *exhausted* by the end. I ended up picking Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme, and read the Kafkaesque review; was pleasantly surprised to see that you had commented on it! Also picked up the Tocca Spice Rollerball Collection. 🙂
I love Kafka 🙂 I wish I could smell about 1/4th of what she does, though I’m partially happy that I cannot detect synthetics as she does, LOL!
Enjoy your new scents!!
Mac nutcracker sweet: flamboyish and saucy little darling lipstick, copper face compact, nude lipbag, mini lipstick set in nude and pink
Going to buy the forward march eyeshadow next week
Mac glow-rida powder
Have to work on Saturday
Cats !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And squirrels (had to look up this word)
My cats like squirrels too
Mellan just encountered a rabbit the other day! They go through the yard a lot here, and he has seen one or two when he has been inside, but this was the first one outside. Of course, my husband was there and kept him from giving chase, though he would never catch a rabbit, lol!
My Maine coon cats are too lazy for hunting (yes they are really Maine coon which are known to be great hunters but just not my coonies) I cannot believe it. In our house flys starve to death before my cats will catch them
In my Haul I forgot mac nutcracker sweet warm eyeshadow palette and the rose pigment
Haul: I picked up a few things when Ulta has 20% off! ABH Warm Bronze, Origins Drink Up Overnight Intensive Mask, and a couple ELF brushes for myself, and the Becca Backlit Primer for my mom! I also got the Smashbox Color Correcting Pencil in light peach for some darkness around my mouth, but not sure how to feel about it. First time using a product for that.
Weekend plans: Studying!
Favorite animal: Looking forward to when I can cuddle with a puppy, maybe in a few years.
Great Ulta haul, Nina! My order just came late today 😀 How often do you use the Origins mask?
Thanks! I just got mine today too! I got a sample of the mask in my Play! box a couple months ago and really enjoyed it, but I’ll have to figure out how it fits into my routine. I’m thinking maybe 2x a week since it’s winter and my skin’s pretty dry right now.
I also picked up the ABH x Mario palette for my mom – the colors seemed right up her alley and she doesn’t do elaborate eye looks so any concerns about muddiness didn’t throw me off. Your review definitely sealed the deal for me, and I hope she enjoys it!
Haul: Nars Quai des Brumes eyeshadow duo, Bite Beauty Movember lipstick and the mini Nars Radiant Concealer, which made me reach the VIB level at Sephora. I have tons of stuff in my wishlist for next week’s sale, I hope everything’s not sold out by then!
Weekend plans: I need to relax cause I’ve been really overwhelmed lately, trying to do everything at once: work + blog + exercise + read motivational books + clean the house + cook all our meals from scratch = I’m not sleeping at night anymore, lol!
Favorite animal: besides kitties, I find salamanders fascinating! I also have a thing for ducks, especially their feet. Duck feet are so cute I want to cry when I see them. I know, it’s weird….
Happy VIB day!
Hope you get some time to relax and enjoy your weekend a bit, Lulle 🙂
HAUL: ColourPop: Shadows in Tang and Paradox; Ultra Satin in Femme (OMG, love so much!); Ultra Glossy in Crystal Ball and Fluff. Fred Meyer: Back up of Wet n Wild Coverall Pressed Powder in Fair, Essence All About Matt! powder, Essence Blush Up! in Heat Wave, and Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes in Pink Grapefruit. Other: Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade Palette. Re-bought Nyx Angel Veil primer. My replacement pan for my Notoriously Morbid pressed eyeshadow palette arrived with a freebie Voodoo Berry lip balm. (It was their first time doing pressed powders, and I’m sorry to say it was a disaster. Nearly everyone had things break. I think the formula is too soft and loose. The owner was awesome about replacing things/refunding, though, plus she sent freebies with the replacements.)
Weekend plans: Sunday I’m driving down to Salem and meeting a Facebook friend in person for the first time. We’ve tried to get together four times and something always goes wrong. lol She’s finally moved, so I hope this time is a charm.
What’s your favorite animal? Tigers. For pets, cats. I also love unicorns and collect them.
I love the Ultra Satin formula SO much!! I really feel like it is the happiest compromise of liquid matte lipstick and long-wearing lipstick
Nice to hear the owner has been good about the issues – just feel bad for all around, then!
Haul: Nothing!
Weekend plans: Visited urgent care. I was supposed to host a meetup tomorrow but I rescheduled it. Just not feeling right 🙁
What’s your favorite animal?: Giraffes!
Oh no, Cat! I hope you are okay 🙁
Saw a therapy dog owner this am, whom I haven’t seen in 100 years. He has lost Grace, who was a natural, but was taking young Duncan to MIT today. He is on his fourth visit. IDK what group at tech uses therapy dogs, but good for them. You guessed it, …both yellow labs. One of George’s former students is about to become the program director at one of my day jobs, and wants to restart pet therapy. Maybe Duncan! Oh, yay!
Ulta: Julep mousse lip set. Rec for people who think Tarte is creepy feeling. Two mauvies and one slightly cool (on me) red. Wheelhouse:check. Julep stick cleanser. (Michele, I have found most konjac to be fairly comparable, and far less expensive at an Asian marketplace.) Fiona Stiles matte lip trio: reg red, mauve nude, and pinkish nude. Decent, but not outstanding. Sephora: I was very good and kept it low. One S brand shadow, not available nearby, bite redux, Sephora bold lip, and Bijoux. B’lish: Wayne and only Wayne. Eye set, #4 & #14. Annoyed that little Sephora sold out of the NARS VG lip set yesterday, yeah, yesterday, that has been sold out online forever! Now, I’m on no buy for the future, except presents, and did not succumb to the KGD foundation, despite the samples arriving. The aqua is more siliconey and texturey than I prefer at first, but the dry down is decent, and it passes my cosdna requirements. Still like the MUFE water base better, but I can’t do that Benzyl salicylate. That turned up in the S Ren face mist, too. If you’ve issues, you have to do your research. Ssdw, and still haven’t started up fri nights again yet. Fine by me. Xmas is hell there. Favorite animal: aside from being a total dog freak, frogs and toads are my totems/fetishes (in the nw/sw Native American sense.). I also love ‘ugly’ birds, like cormorants and vultures.
The lab is such a great breed! I love how smart Mellan can be, but he is not really a devious dog, so he can laze around, too, without getting into TOO much trouble.
Checking back in with the Sephora decisions! Fun, fun, fun taking the afternoon off from work and swatching to my heart’s content. Seriously, the amount of time I spent considering and studying this purchase, I could have another degree by now!
Eyeshadows:
Needed to add some shimmer and color to my repertoire — that was my goal. We have all seen the less-than-stellar (i.e. crap) offered this season. Sephora in Boston has the Viseart palettes in-store. They swatch to DIE for (this is my 3rd time testing them), and I had the time to experiment and apply. I felt confident in the decision, for sure. I will say, though, the Surratt shadows are absolutely beautiful too. Having to select from all those Surratt singles was stressing me out, so that was the tie-breaker in going with the Viseart palette option. I will now be set for quite some time.
* Viseart Dark Mattes
* Viseart Satin in Sultry Nudes
Was *this close* to adding in the Viseart Neutral Matte palette, but it’s SOOOO close to the KVD Shade & Light, which I have and like very much. I’ll stick with that.
The rest of the purchases are mostly (boring) back-ups/replacements for things I continue to use:
* MAKE UP FOR EVER Mist & Fix Setting Spray
* Living Proof No Frizz Conditioner
* Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo
* Living Proof Satin Serum
* ABH DIPBROW™ Pomade in Chocolate
* COVER FX Correct Click Color Corrector in Lavender
* Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup
* NUDESTIX Skin Glossing Pencil — Not well known is my guess , but I REALLY like the Nudestix products and concept. They are good products, and they strike me as “smart.”
Then hubby met me for a late lunch. Very fun day.
OK, Linda apparently has no self control. After spending an hour goofing around with the Viseart palettes, I just ordered the Neutral Matte palette too. What I can do with a few strokes of this stuff is wonderful, the kind of versatility I have been looking for. Crazy good.
What a lovely haul, Linda! Back-ups are fun, though, because you get to see someone’s real favorites, IMO!
Haul: I finally went to Sephora during the week and I was really impressed. The staff were lovely. My son, who came with me to the shopping centre, couldn’t believe that there were ‘grown women, taking selfies of themselves outside the Sephora shop’ He just didn’t get what a big deal this was.
I bought the Laura Mercer Translucent Setting powder, a Sephora creme lipstick in Passion Red and the Sephora It Palette in Nudes – very cool toned, swatched pretty well and has been a joy to play with ever since.
Weekend Plans: Family for dinner on Sunday, no particular plans for Saturday other than a date with my ironing board.
Favourite Animal: Sounds strange, but I just love beavers – they are the most interesting and socially cohesive animals I have learnt about. Needless to say,, living in Aus I haven’t seen any, but our closest relative to the beaver is the platypus and I like those too.
So glad it went well, Genevieve! Sounds like a great time 🙂
I feel the same way about camels sort of – in that it may be a little weird, but everything I’ve learned about them just makes them seem SO, so amazing!
Oh congrats, you finally got a Sephora store in Australia!! Yay !!! Curious if you were finally able to check out the Sephora Collection Mild to Wild Khaki 5 pan shadow kit?
Thanks Katherine. I actually didn’t look at it – although that Mild to Wild Khaki has been something I have eyed off for ages. Do you have this palette? Is it worth it?
Well, it just seems like I have to go back and have another browse.
Oh, I have 2 of the Mild to Wild Khaki kits! I’m really in love with 2 of the shades (a satin khaki olive green, and a a metallic dirty gold olive green), the rest ( matte dark olive green, matte dark olive green with gold glitter, and a shimmery champagne beige) are on the dry side, but fixable with primer. It’s always marked down 50% off on USA sephora site, so I got a backup in case they ever discontinue. The 5 colors go really well together, and there’s a small mirror and applicator too, so great for travel. If you love khaki olive greens, I think it’s worth checking out 🙂
Well, I went back to Sephora the other day and had a good look at the palette. The first 3 shades are very similar to the Dior 3 Colours in Khaki that I totally love, the last two shades seemed a bit muddy to me. So reluctantly I didn’t purchase it. But thanks for suggesting it because I am all over olive shades.
Oh glad you were able to check it out! I don’t have the Dior 3 Colours in Khaki, heard it was nice kit (the older Dior formula was SO much better than now) , but glad the first 3 shades in the Sephora kit are dupes for me, as I think the Dior one was sadly DC’d. And if you don’t think the other 2 shades will work for you, then money saved! And I know things are so much pricier in Australia too. But yes, nice to hear from another fan of olive shades!
My biggest score this week was my pre-order through Barneys of the Tatcha Plum Blossom LE 24k gold illuminating lipstick. I have wanted that forever. Second biggest score was getting my hands on the MAC Nutcracker Copper Cheek Pallet (Whisper of Guilt your mine!!!). I have wanted that a long time also. Placed a big Tom Ford order – the Traceless Foundation, – Soleil Lip Foil in Venus Rising and the Soleil Eye and Cheek Pallet (cool). Lastly Paula’s Choice is offering a full size cleanser with $70 purchase (and free shipping) so I ordered some backups. I cannot live without my Paula’s Choice. I have yet to shop the Sephora VIB Rouge sale, I guess I will do that tonight. I have two favorite animals – horses and cats. I volunteer with a cat rescue and I am officially a foster failure. Luckily my husband is also a cat person and very supportive of our herd. It always embarrassed my kids but they are grown and gone now so that’s no longer an issue. Chores this weekend – some renovations going on at our house which I would like to have finished before the holidays.
I don’t have that, but I’ve seen swatches and it looks gorgeous! Enjoy the new Tatcha lipstick 🙂
Yay!!! You finally got your hands on Whisper of Gilt!
I did!!! And let me tell you it was worth all of the trouble and hype. It’s gorgeous!!!
Haul: Just the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Copper duo which I LOVE! Pleasure Model looks quite russety which I’ll have to figure out how to get to work for my fair skin but Whisper of Gilt is perfect, even better than I hoped! I have no regrets!
Plans for weekend: Shopping for winter boots for my little girl and new jeans for my fiancé, we’ll all be going into town for that tomorrow. Then in the evening we’ll go to the fireworks at a sports stadium with my fiancé’s mum, she bought us tickets. Hopefully it won’t be too cold!
Favourite animal: I’ve always been mad on cats even as a small girl despite never having had one growing up. We always had a dog. I like dogs but cats grab me by the soul for some reason. We did however have a cat next door called Zigzag who would greet me every day when I came home from primary school ❤.
Fingers crossed you can make Pleasure Model work for you, Claire! 🙂
Haul: Ordered 3 Wayne Goss Brushes and RCMA powder from Beautylish gift card sale; Guerlain Kiss Kiss lipstick and Dior mascara with mini shadow palette from Shoppers Drug Mart 20% off sale.
Weekend plans: Was home visiting family, returning back to Midwest on Saturday. Always hard to leave family but back for Christmas.
Fave animal: My cat, though he’s a cheeky one! Other than immediate furry family members, I like seeing polar bears swim.
As someone who likes to sleep, sleep on, Mellan! Enjoy visiting with family, Christine.
Haul: My Rouge Bunny Rouge order finally delivered yesterday (I had placed it last month during the 30% off). Got singles in Whispering Ibis, Mountain Blue Bird, Grey Go-Away Lourie and Trumpeter Koel and the Raw Garden four shade palette in Caliche. They threw in a free full sized satin liner in Blue Roan and Eye Kohl in Calypso and four samples of primers and highlighters.
Weekend Plans: Well it’s pretty late into Saturday evening in Australia already. Had lunch at my sister in law’s place and am putting off cleaning the kitchen *groans*, will probably play with my new makeup instead. Tomorrow I want to make a mini pilgrimage to Sephora (it’s pretty far away) to swatch Kat Von D’s Metal Matte. Apparently they got very little stock, only one box per store, and they’ve got only three stores in Sydney, plus they have been mum about it and nothing online yet either. I hope it hasn’t sold out already since they got it on Tuesday I think.
Favourite Animals: I fall for animal cuteness in general so hard for me to pick. Speaking of camels they have the prettiest eyelashes up close (and their breath smells lol).
I didn’t see that anyone mentioned it yesterday. Wayne Goss Air Brush is back. FYI.
