Free for Haul Friday, Volume #342
Share any beauty goodies you may have picked up in the last week or so, or maybe what’s on your way or on your wish list for next week or month. 🙂
- Haul: Becca x Jaclyn Hill eyeshadow palette, liquid/cream versions of Champagne Pop.
- Weekend plans: Lots and lots of lipstick swatches! I swear, all spring/summer feels like lip products!
- How do you like to spend your “me” time?: Mostly with Mellan (my dog), which I don’t know if that counts as “me” time, since I’m technically not alone! I find him very comforting and stress-relieving, and he just makes me happy being nearby. I consider myself very, very lucky to basically spend 24/7 with him!
Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group! 🙂
This week’s Mellan photo (well, video this week!)…
P.S. — I love seeing everyone interact with each other here, so I am also going approve comments without replying (with the intention of still replying personally!) as I can so that you can see each others comments ASAP!
Paulas Choice had a sale so I did some stocking on skin care.
Plan to relax, give the boys a bath and maybe see a movie.
Me time is spent with Rowdy and Bandit. They make me very happy and I just love them.
xoxo for the handsome Mellan from me and the boys. Have a great weekend Christine.
Always nice to stock up on skincare faves! 🙂
Haul: Urban Decay lipstick in Iracebeth from Alice Through the Looking Glass
Weekend plans: Work on website I guess…. I’d be normally leaving for Toronto soon on this day. lol
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: reading/gaming something to unplug I guess. Right now I’m sculpting a prop just because I miss making things my hand!
Iracebeth! The best one! 😀
I actually got it in store at Shopper Drug Mart…. it was soo nice to have testers of all the shades! The shade Time looked completly grey on my skintone rather than navy grey. lol
The crazy thing is I don’t really own a cool tone red and the closest I had was Wet n Wild 911D Spotlight Red which is still warmer on me. This shade dosn’t make my teeth look as yellow.
Haul: UD Sheer Beso lipstick, Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Coral Confession, WnW Reserve Your Cabana
Weekend plans: I was planning on going plant-shopping this morning, but it started raining 🙁 Still planning on putting my veg garden in Saturday or Sunday, and I made pineapple upside-down pancakes this morning to kick off my 4-day weekend!
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: I really like spending time with my two dogs – I find walking them and just hanging out with them almost therapeutic, and very enjoyable. They’re awesome! I also enjoy researching beauty products online (reviews and swatches are just so fun!) but that often turns into shopping!
Dogs are the best, aren’t they? 🙂
Glad to see you have time to relax. It’s so important.
I’m celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. My son is coming home from the Army. The remainder of his enlistment is over except for a few days of leave he saved. Will be so happy when I can really see and hug him. Plenty of birthday current and catch up.
Family fun.
Fur friends are essential, probably more than makeup. Did I say that out loud?
Haul: Soooo many brand releases!

Makes a nice dupe for my fav Molton brown and less than ½ the price), Maybelline Master Kajal by Eyestudio Cream Kohl Eyeliner (Midnight Brown), Cover Girl LashBlast Fusion Waterproof Mascara (Very Black), Burt’s Bees Squeezable Lip Balm
Jeffree Star: Skin Frost Bundle (Ice Cold, Peach Goddess, Mint Condition, King Tut), Beauty Killer Palette, Rich Blood Liquid Lipstick

Sephora: Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eyeshadow Palette, Korres Milk Soap
Target (25% Off Plus $8 Off): Sonia Kashuk – Knock out Beauty Nail Colour (Roll with the Punches and On the Ropes), 6 Piece Smokey Eye Brush Set (I received my first set and they were decent. I figured it was worth buying another set to throw in my carry bag since my total cost was only $11.24 for 6 brushes!), Dramatically Brightening Kajal Gel Eyeliner (White and Black), Eyeliner (Split Decision/cobalt), Eye Palette (Sweet Nothings 16), COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara (Very Black 860)
Target ($5 Gift Card): TRESemmé Beauty Full Volume Hair Maximizer, Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads, Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes, TRESemmé Beauty Full Volume Flexible Finish Hairspray, L’Oreal® Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray (Ran out of my Kevin Murphy so I thought I’d try the TRESemmé. I picked up the Simple wipes for travel. Was curious about the L’Oreal setting spray – read good things and it was cheap enough to take a chance.)
Urban Decay (20% Off): Naked Skin Concealer (Light Neutral), Eyeshadow (Aura, X, Lounge, and Scratch), Naked Smoky (yeah, I finally bought it – LOL)
Weekend plans: My daughter messaged me about a 14 mile yard sale tomorrow so i may go check it out with her. The local farm market is doing an event with live music so I may go there as well. It’s mani/pedi weekend so of course there’s that. And tons of reviews to write for my blog!
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: Indulgent me time would be at a spa. But as that’s not always financially practical, I like to take long drives to see where I end up. I love finding small towns and out of the way places…I photograph scenery and architecture. I’ve found the cutest little shops that way as well.
How exciting! Lots of new things there. Some great UD shades you picked up!
I swatched Aura on my lunch break and it’s a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be. UD is having to reship one of my orders bc apparently they messed up on shipping and UPS returned the package to them. So, sadly, the 3 other shadow shades I ordered won’t arrive now until next week.
Agree with you, Sonia Kashuk’s brushes. Haven’t tried other products. Not much other available by me.
Love UD too.
Susan – I have a few Kashuk reviews coming up this week on my blog. Short summary is that the cosmetics are kind of hit or miss. I am really happy with the brushes though.
Michelle,
Thanks. Good to know. I will watch for it.
Michelle, I bought Aura a few weeks ago and I just love it. They’re always sold out of Sin – clearly it is REALLY popular, and the “Sin” line generally is well-known and loved by UD users. The other day, I swatched the counter sample (sometimes they have it out and sometimes not – I have the feeling it keeps getting stolen!) and it is really lovely too. I might actually buy it if they have it back in stock the next time I’m there.
I’m planning on creating a look with Aura tomorrow. I think it’s going to be fun to use. Sin is the champagne one, yes? I feel like I have it. Or maybe I had moved it to my favs on their site. But, yes, I recall thinking it was a really pretty shade! Now I need to go and check and see!
Those eyes can guilt you into anything!
*Free Haul — from MAC Vibe Tribe, Cream Base in Yellow Topaz and lipstick in Hot Chocolate, love both! Also got samples of Drunk Elephant B Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel and Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask. Colour Pop lippie in Love Life (it was missing from original shipment and they shipped it to me super fast) . But my fave is BITE Amuse Bouche lipstick in Taro! It’s a cool gray lavender purple, and has just enough purple that I don’t look totally dead, just edgy. And they nailed the color, which does look like sweet taro filling, makes me hungry looking at it. So I will be returning MAC Plum Princess, so sad, but I look like a corpse in that one. And I found out that City Colors Shimmer Shadow in Spring Fling (shimmery cool gray lavender purple) is perfect to pair with Taro. BTW, if you’re tired of testing lipppies, City Colors came out with 8 new Shimmer Shadows for summer. I saw swatches online, and they look gorgeous!
*Weekend – some work, then relax, maybe do some swatching at stores
*During Me Time – I like to read beauty blogs, go shopping, swatch new makeup at stores
Hot Chocolate is such a pretty color! 🙂
It really feels like it’s lip season, lol!
I blame it on UD, Christine!!!
How are you using the cream base?
I can use Yellow Topaz alone as a highlighter, or as a cream base under my powder blushes and powder highlighters. For some reason, my face and cheeks just eats up powder products, so it helps make them last longer. It has a pretty, subtle gold shimmer, and it’s not too warm, goes well with my yellow undertones. I see lots of interesting stuff in your haul ! Looking forward to your swatches and reviews
Oooh, so you got Hot Chocolate too. Looks like it was a popular choice this week. I was rather surprised at how it turns out against my lip colour (not entirely favourable). But lo and behold.. that Brooke Candy purple pencil to the rescue. Instead of using it as a liner, I use it very lightly and smear it a bit as a base and it cools the Hot Chocolate down really nicely and makes it much more attractive against my skin. I have a neutral to warmish skintone, but certain shades of warm lipstick just die on me. Hot Chocolate is surprisingly one of them.
It’s so freaking purple. Die!!!
Haul: Gucci Premiere perfume. I sprayed this on every time I went to Ulta for this spring’s 21 Days of Beauty and I really like it. Like make up, I have far more perfume than I need, but I am happy to add Premiere to my collection. I also bought Guerlain’s Lingerie De Peau BB in natural. I tried a sample and had to buy it.
Weekend: I am taking the LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) exam this coming Thursday, so I will be studying all day Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Me-time: My favorite me time is spent reading with my cat on my lap. I also consider going to the gym as a present I give to myself, as well as indulging my passion for cosmetics by reading, researching, and buying.
I almost forgot to tell you that the pink, lavender, purple question this week reminded me to pull out my Urban Decay shadows and wear your look, Christine, with Fireball, Tonic, and Dive Bar on the lid and Chaos liner under the eye. I had women literally gasping at how pretty this combo looks. Thanks, Christine, not only for the reviews but the looks you create: some of those looks have become my favorites?
That sounds sooo pretty! 🙂
Good luck with your exams. I’m an RN and CDMS. Remember how nerve wracking it was.
I’m so glad you found a new perfume to fall for, Tammy! Hope you enjoy it 🙂
Good luck on your exam!
Good luck on your exam!
Good luck on your exam!
Picked up a 50% off Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Pencil in Lovechild – discontinued product so yay for one last back-up…
And a Benefit Rollerlash mini. Love how that’s effectively 1/2 price too in that size.
Also bought a new beauty blender – watching Tati’s video about how they break down and collect bacteria and she flips them after about 3 months was motivation to do so. I’ve been getting strange baby pimples around my face so maybe it’s because of old and nasty BBs!?
Lovechild is so pretty! Wish they’d bring it back in some form.
It’s still 50% off on Sephora.com – in the sale section 😉
I used your site to see the swatches before buying that one online btw – very helpful as always!
Haul: no makeup, but my husband gave me my birthday present early! He bought a fox-faced grim reaper statue one of my students made.
Weekend plans: birthday dinner tonight. Yard work and maybe fishing if it doesn’t rain every day. If it does rain possibly starting to clear out the master bathroom so we can remodel it.
How do you spend your “me” time: reading, watching movies/tv, playing with my cats.
Happy birthday, Alice! 🙂
Happy birthday! That was cool of your husband. He made your day and the student’s!
Thanks! And yeah, she was really excited when I told her we were buying it 🙂 I already have it up on the mantle!
Happy birthday Alice! What are you having for your birthday meal?
We’re going to The Girl and the Goat in the Chicago. They serve small plates family-style so I’m going to try a bunch of things 🙂
Happy Birthday!
? Happy Birthday Alice ?
Happy birthday. Great gift. Did it make you cry? So sweet.
Happy birthday! Awesome gift btw!
Haul: A few repurchases, Clinique Take the Day Off eye makeup remover, a new Tangle Teezer, and a Tangle Teezer wet brush
Weekend plans: Continue my stay-cation! I was off this week to relax. I’ll go to Victoria for work next week and I’m really looking forward to that, but I have some homework to finish before then!
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: Having a bath, watching YouTube videos, doing my own manicures and pedicures and browsing online for baby things (which has replaced makeup things!) since I’m due with my first baby in August 😀
I love the wet brush!! So good!!
Mellan is really such a handsome, sweet dog. He has the best faces!
Haul: I ordered the new Edward Bess Threads of Silk powders in both colors! They are both so beautiful!
Urban Decay bronzer in Sun-Kissed.
Weekend plans: Ripping up our carpet and laying down waterproof flooring that looks like hardwood floor. It’s really quite nice-looking. We have three old cats, and they have destroyed the carpeting. This will look so much nicer and be much easier to clean! I don’t really like doing home improvement projects, but I’m going to help my husband where I can, and I’m really looking forward to the finished product!
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: I don’t mind being alone and most of the time enjoy it. I actually like to clean and organize better when I’m alone, I don’t know why! I also prefer to shop by myself. I also like to read, surf the Internet, and nap, preferably with cats. But like you, Christine, I like being with my pets. I love these cats so much even though they are jerks (see above! 🙂 )
The Edward Bess powders are really pretty! Glad you like them.
Pteetsa, I know exactly what you mean about cats being jerks! I rent my place, and it unfortunately came with w2w ugly, old carpeting that has got to be at least 10-15 yrs. old, these 3 have TORE it up in the hallway for some weird reason!!! Nowhere else, JUST that hallway by the bathroom??? Anyway, I don’t expect to get my security deposit back. Like ever.???
Have a restful third trimester and keep cool. Congratulations on your new baby.
My male cat did that in my old apartment – he only tore up the corner of each room. He also broke both my screen doors when he got his head stuck in a plastic bag handle (two times!), raced around the apartment in terror, and crashed into them. I really didn’t expect to get any of my security deposit back, so I was really surprised when I got most of it back! I guess they’ve seen worse?!
LOL!!! The bag-on-head thing! I always feel so terrible for laughing uncontrollably whenever one of mine does this, I’ll be trying to calm them down so I can get the bag off, but can’t stop giggling!!!
That’s so weird; my comments disappeared again???
This is by far the best photo of Mellan! Look at that pretty, innocent face.
Thank you!
Haul: Jeffree Star Beauty Killer palette and the Tarte x grav3yardgirl palette. I think that is it? I’m on a no-buy now, even though the new Anastasia palette is calling my name! Thank goodness it is permanent.
Weekend plans: Seeing X-Men tonight and probably just chilling! On Monday my boyfriend and I are hitting up an outlet mall and going to Universal.
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: I like to go online, go to the gym, take a walk, or read! I also like my morning when I do my makeup, because it is very peaceful for me. Definitely my “me time”.
Good luck with your no-buy, Marina!
Marina – have you gotten the Tarte palette yet? Wondering what you think. It was one I was strongly considering getting.
I just got it last night! It is a nice palette for sure, but nothing revolutionary. I have never tried Tarte, so this was my first introduction to their shadow formula. They lasted well over primer for about 8 hours before fading/very minimal creasing. I think the shades are nice, but there are definitely some that perform better than others. I wore all nine shadows on my eyes today. Some are real stunners (#SFS, Dogman, Mancat, Sassy Bun) and others come out a bit muddy on the eyelid (Haunting, Uncommon). I had to use Haunting and Uncommon wet to make them show up as two different colors. However, the mattes (Big Baby, Natural Peaches) are so lovely. They blended perfectly into my crease and were buttery smooth. Some of the colors have love shimmer/glitter to them (Sippy Sippy) that I didn’t expect. I REALLY love the highlighter and blush. They lasted a long time on my face, and they compliment each other beautifully. The highlighter is just gorgeous. The bronzer was the only thing I didn’t try, since I don’t usually wear any. Overall, I like the palette. I think it is a good travel palette or a good starter palette. The brush it comes with was a little too big for my tastes, and I felt it didn’t help with the application. I’m going to try again tomorrow and see if better brushes help the colors show up better without any extra help (using them wet, etc). Plus, the packaging is just darling.
Marina, thanks for the great overview! I went to the Tarte site and it looks like it’s out of stock/sold out right now but I think they plan on restocking. Based on your thoughts it sounds like something that might be worth getting depending on the final price I can get it for. Thanks again!
I’m glad it was helpful! It was only pre-released when I got it. June 6th is the official launch day on Tarte’s site! If you end up buying it, I hope you enjoy!
Haul: Essence Make Me Brow, a potential dupe for Benefit Gimme Brow (for $2.99!), and 2 sunscreen sticks by Cerave. Nothing else, cause I need to save for our NYC trip next week, and now for a new car when we can!
Weekend plans: nothing much, probably a hike, a run on the beach (if we can find parking near the beach, last year for Memorial Day we tried to go and couldn’t park…), and preparing our upcoming trip.
How do you like to spend your “me” time: I have a lot of that these days, a little more than I’d like. I like to spend it working on my blog, it gives me a sense of purpose. Otherwise, playing with makeup, going to a yoga class and listening to music are things I enjoy doing on my own.
It’s good to find purpose when and where you can, Lulle! Hopefully you find a few ways to fill up your time a bit 🙂
Haul: ordered Plum Princess, Sock It Xiqu, and two gray paint pots from ‘goodbyes.’ Never had a CCB before. Guess it works like OCC cream color concentrate. Confess I got a Hot Chocolate, but will treat the design with respect. Joined MAC select. Whatever.
SSDW, night job never cancels. No particular Mem Day plans, except personal remembrances. Having Mon off from day job means 5 work days next week, bec. gizzards were off and I left early this week, too. Thank god that’s flexible.
Definitely spend time with Jussi. He’s one of my all time loves, though I certainly miss not having 4 canine companions.
I really can’t imagine having more than one dog, KJH! You had to be a saint to manage four all at once. I feel like I would play favorites!
Four is the perfect number IMO. Anything beyond is more challenging (I’ve had 6 dogs at the house at the same time while I was sitting Hairball’s bro’s 2 dogs). and they act far too pack like. With four, I can pretend I still have control.
Haul: I ordered several samples from Meow Cosmetics Mineral Foundation line. They have a large array of shades with different undertones and supposedly cater to the very pale (as well as the very deep). I ordered the lightest shade in almost every undertone (over ten!). Hopefully receiving them next week.
Weekend plans: Camping with friends.
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: Watching movies or binge-watching intense dramas like Game of Thrones, Top of the Lake, Happy Valley, etc.
Fingers crossed you find your match in Meow! 🙂 Their line is overwhelming for me, since they do have so many shades, lol! Keep us posted!
Haul: Two $11 UD lipsticks – Temper, which is perfect for me, and Venom. Also picked up Tarteist Lip Paint in Yaassss! I had some sort of matte lipstick fixation that day.
All of these were purchased only because I had 5x points on Tarte and 3x points on everything else at Ulta. I can’t resist multiple points…
Weekend plans: lunch with my parents tomorrow…not sure the rest of the time, but I’ve got a long weekend!
Me time: Spending too much money on makeup, tooling around the internet, working out.
Always fun when you find the perfect shade for yourself! 🙂 Yay for multiple points!
Haul: MAC (used $10 off $50 code): Chris Chang Lipstick in Plum Princess; e/s refills in Woodwinked, Amber Lights, Phloof!, Nylon, and Electric Eel. Stila (20% off clearance price + free shipping): Smudge Sticks in Mint Julep, Canary, and Deep Fuchsia. L’oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Iced Latte. Lips Monthly bag.
Weekend plans: We’re staying home. We’re hoping to get some minor home repairs and spring cleaning done. We’ll most likely barbecue.
How do you like to spend your “me” time? Reading, listening to music, crafts, playing with makeup, playing computer games.
Good luck on your spring cleaning & repairs, Rachel! Hope they go well.
Hi Mellan! Our big dogs can come and go at will into the fenced part of the property via doggie door (the little dogs need courtesy door opening by momma dog), but they don’t hang out there unless I am with. They spend the vast majority of their time in our company so firmly entrenched in the belief our universe revolves around them. And for the most part, it does.
Haul: Mixed bag of things,
Skincare: I inadvertently tossed my brand new moisturizer and kept the bloody empty container of moisturizer..so mad at myself over this..still…days later.
Sunscreen: Ordered the Biore
Lipliner: The Brooke Candy dark purple one
Bronzer: OMG wtf.. I have eyeroll ordered 2: Tom Ford Terra, and GA #600
Want to order: had a trial size of the Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara. I really like the brush and it seems to sit formula wise in the middle of my two current go to’s: MAC False Lashes, and GA Eyes to Kill Excess.
Weekend Plans: try to stay inside as much as possible and stay cool. We’ve begun our first heatwave and the humidity is intense. I feel a Netflix marathon might be in order. All our crops are planted. We have just a ton of others things to catch up on, but I’m direly needing some slow down time.
Me time: usually finds me either reading, playing with makeup, or in the kitchen cooking or baking
OMG, thanks for letting me know about the Brooke Candy lip liner. I googled it, and it looks like a true dark purple, those are hella hard to find. I just ordered 2 of them! Most purple lippies need a lip liner.
Katherine, you are going to love it! I’m blown away. I’ve been tossing around the idea of a backup too. I just so rarely do that, but I might if the damn pro cream highlight/contour from the silly Brant Bros collection would show up…so I am not ordering just one product.
Thanks again to Helena for the rec.
Ditto here on the thanks – missed the purple liner somehow.
Me too..totally missed it. I know, right?
It must be nice to have dogs that behave so well! I’m still trying to figure out whether Mellan enjoys being in the backyard (by himself) or not.
Ooh, now maybe I should Hypnose Drama again…
I’ve worked with them from the first day with us and my pack ranges in age from 2.5 to 10 years old. I work with them as a team, they get exercised as a pack and that helps. They need that bonding and working together thing. Two are rescues so have some residual issues, but I’ve always been good with animals and being bossy comes naturally. I have expectations for their behaviour and they know it and respect it.
You should Hypnose. It’s way nice and I think we like the same type of mascaras. I just took it off for bed and it looked perfect before I went at it with the cleanser. No crusties!
Labs are very ppl oriented. I think they are happy as long as someone loves them. I have an old, 13, Cairn Terrier. I’m pretty certain he would not be happy to share at his age.
Haul-Mac Huggables in Origami Orange and Urban Decay Bittersweet blush. Both will be there when I get home tonight.
Tasks this weekend are the usual household stuff, planting tomato, cucumber and zucchini plants, and doing DHs books for his business.
To relax I like to walk my dog, play with makeup and enjoy the outdoors since I live in a more rural area with lots of lakes and forests to play in.
Can’t wait for you to try your new lipsticks, Stephanie! Let us know how they work out for you.
Haul: three (yes, 3) of the small tubes of Sephora’s house brand moisturizer (they’re on sale for $7 CDN; even before they were on sale, they were a much better value, dollar for dollar, than the full sized jar); I love this moisturizer – it’s the one I wear if I’m wearing a product that contains sunscreen or if I want to wear a particular sunscreen and the 1 oz. size is perfect for travel; a tube of MUFE N9 Copper Pink lipstick (to replace the small sized one I got for free as a birthday gift from Sephora and which, after coming to love it, I manged to LOSE); Lothantique Bois de Rose (I think that’s what it’s called – something with “rose” in the name, anyway) Eau de Toilette (it was on sale half price).
Weekend plans: recover from a really long, rough day; dinner with friends tomorrow (dying to see the house of the host and hostess…they had it custom designed and built and even had an elevator incorporated into the design so that even as they age, they won’t have to leave; she’s a professional chef so I’m seriously dying to see her kitchen)
Me time: yoga, reading, walking and, dare I say it, stuff related to makeup (reading about it, shopping for it, slapping it on!)
I would never have guessed that Sephora’s house brand moisturizer is so good!
Hope your weekend goes better than your Friday, Mariella. An elevator! That is so nifty. I love seeing custom homes to see what people have done. I’ve always wanted to build my own!
Loving those huge puppy dog eyes!!!
Haul: Just a backup of UD Streak in the Revolution formula, as the new one in the Vice formula looks much pinker. Streak is the lighter peach/coral that works on me, and conceals my own lip color without looking heavy.
Weekend plans: Just doing my usual haircare routine. And my meeting on Sunday. Other than that, zip, zilch, nada.
How do you like to spend your me time: Doing makeup challenges! It makes me tap into the creative end of my brain a little bit deeper and pushes me to try new and old techniques, the old ones getting dusted off and used again after being left dormant! Also, like yourself, just cuddling up with one of my dear fur children, especially my sweet, older, FIV+ rescue kitty, Pookie. She was a semi-feral 7-8 month old kitten when we took her in. Sweetest cat I ever had!
Glad you were able to catch a tube of the older Streak!
Where do you find or get your makeup challenges from, Nancy?
Oh, me too! At least I now have backups of it and Catfight!
A group of my friends who are into makeup and myself just go with a theme or an idea, we each do our own interpretation of whatever it may be for that day!
Haul: Becca x Jaclyn Hill face palette!
Weekend plans: I’m going out for happy hour / dinner with a friend I haven’t seen for a long time tonight, then tomorrow hanging out with my family watching soccer and making ribs.
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: Reading novels, browsing reddit or beauty blogs, and napping.
Hope you have a great time with your friend tonight, Cat! 🙂
Haul: I went a bit crazy with my online shopping last week and this week! I’ll just post what I got this week here and will update last week’s in last week’s Free For Haul post.
Bare Minerals UK: Lovescape blusher, lip brush, cheek brush, free The Royals eye palette, free deluxe mascara, free face care samples
Ciaté London: ‘Fun’ eye palette bundle with lipstick, mascara and eye primer)
Asos.com: Paul and Joe cat lip balm in Ahoy, black cat jacquard top, mini toucan Tweezerman tweezers
Still more to come next week then I’m on a low buy for a bit!
Weekend plans: nothing planned as yet as was away last weekend, just chill out, maybe go to the park or the beach if it’s nice out.
How I like to spend my me time: Just napping or surfing beauty stuff. I’ve just joined a beauty swap site on Fb and it’s a real time swamp!
Ugh, I’m so jealous! I wish I could take naps — I am TERRIBLE at it!
How do you like the Paul & Joe lip balm?
I love the P & J lip balm, it’s so cute! It’s clear with a coloured cat-shaped core, mine’s a coral pink color. It looks very pretty on and does a good job moisturising as well as having decent colour coverage. Lasts more than an hour, which is unusual for me, my lips eat lipbalm and lipstick!
Haul: I was going to say nothing but I forget I went to target and got a few new shirts and two Maybelline Color Tattoo Crayons.
Weekend Plans: Seeing my husband off on Saturday for a year (he’s going “down range” with the Army). I’m not sure what the rest will entail. Probably laying in bed and crying and leaning on my pets for support. I know doom and gloom but I’m pretty upset. I think I’m over the crying mostly which has been the last two days.
Me Time: When I have money, I prefer my spa time. Walks with my dog or cuddling with my pets on the couch is also great anytime. I like going to the Ocean and just sitting there. Reading, cooking, learning, creating, and relaxation are all on my agenda for me time. I normally double up with a mask, some tea, a magazine, and pet while watching tv and read during the commercials 🙂
Teared up reading your post, Erin. 🙁 I’m close to my partner and .. OMG that sucks so badly.
I’m so sorry that you’re going through such a tough time right now, Erin! 🙁 I hope you can find some comfort this weekend.
Wow, a year is rough. I’m sorry it will be such a rough weekend (and year) for you.
Best of care to you and your husband. Not sure what down range means but being apart is so hard. Big hugs to you.
Sending hugs!
I went a little nuts at Sephora. I went to get Hourglass foundation for my trip (I leave for New Orleans on Sunday!) but ended up with a lot more. I also got a Dior gloss, Dior glow awakening blush, a Nars lipstick (“Grace”), a Bite lipstick from the new collection… Got a Urban Decay eyeshadow (“Cosmic”), MUFE setting powder… The girl that was helping me suggested I try a sample of Cover FX primer for oily skin… I also stopped by the MAC counter and grabbed a perm. lipstick “Crosswires.” … So, yeah, I had a good time with myself 😀
Have fun in New Orleans, Jen!
Crosswires is a gorgeous shade!
I ordered the BECCA X JACLYN HILL palette off Sephora, then I went to their store yesterday and found the Becca Mocha Moose. I also snagged a few great samples the BECCA back light primer and the Glamglow nude moisturizer plus a Too Faced Sunny Bunny deluxe sample. Super excited with my haul. Unfortunately weekend plans are always the same work work work. 7 days a week but a small price to pay getting our new remodeling company off the ground. What I like doing in my free time is easy shop for new makeup and research what products are coming out soon and score good deals on clothing from Poshmark.
Best wishes for your new business, Trippytink! What kind of remodeling — the whole kit ‘n caboodle?
Ordered the new colourpop collection yesterday, a lipstick from urban decays alice in wonderland collection, 2 Marc Jacobs brushes, some Mac products….
Waiting for the new urban decay and Mac lipsticks now.
Saturday: my cat has to go to the doctor, but it is nothing to worry about, just a check
Sunday: sleeping a lot
“Me” time: cuddling with my cats and playing games on my tablet
What Marc Jacobs brushes?
Glad your cat is okay! 🙂
Haul: Charlotte Tilbury Miracle Mini Eye Wand and Tom Ford Waterproof Extreme Mascara (both 20% off on Spring App). I wanted one of the By Terry designer palettes but they sold out on Beauty.com when I went to buy one, and the 20% promotion didn’t apply to “back ordered” items. Next time.
Weekend Plans: Cleaning up the apartment before the cleaners come on Thursday and my mother-in-law visits on Saturday. We can’t wait for her to visit!
How I spend “me” time: Sometimes writing/talking with friends, reading beauty blogs/vlogs, watching NHL/sports in general, sitting at a lake with something light to read or watching my fave shows on DVR.
Ah, bummer about the By Terry palette! Hopefully you can snag it in the future.
A beautiful, happy and healthy doggie!
Haul – Milani Chilled Berry lipstick and a backup of Cinnamon Spice
Weekend Plans: Going over to my sister’s house to meet her husband’s niece’s new baby boy. We are taking our granddaughter over too.
Me Time: Read, going shopping, watching a favourite DVD, catching up with friends, playing with Olivia, my granddaughter.
Have a great weekend, Genevieve! 🙂 Enjoy spending time with your granddaughter!
Haul: I joined Mac select a little while back. So I ordered Mac’s mattene lipstick in”Strutting Fabulous”.
What a pretty shade you got, Char!
Haul: It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned anything I’ve purchased so I know I’m not going to remember everything. I did receive another Goss #6 brush from my oldest daughter on my birthday and I was really happy about that as I use the #6 for every eye look. I also bought tons (TONS) of nail art supplies and two or three polishes. I finally decided to order the KVD Lock-It foundation and, after working with it for two weeks to find the best application method, I really like it. It’s not a perfect match (like the MUFE) but it’s totally workable (but I’m still on the lookout for something I might like better). I added at least five new lipsticks and two new blushes to my collection, but I don’t feel like digging them out right now to name them. I also picked up the ABH Metallic Luster Liner in Liquid Gold and another EL Pure Color Envy shadow in Cheeky Pink. Oh! I almost forgot! I actually purchased two authentic Beauty Blenders (in black and purple)!
Weekend plans: I just had steroid injections today (still a little out of it) so I’m planning on sitting on ice all weekend. :'(
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: I read a lot. I’ve also started playing around with the music equipment more, mostly the synth and the Kaossilator.
What are you currently reading, Cat?
I’m currently reading “I’m Proud of You” by newspaper journalist and author Tim Madigan. It’s about his friendship with Fred Rogers (of Mr Rogers’ Neighborhood). I love getting to glimpse inside the man who made such a loving and lasting impact on his audience, even long after his audience had grown into adults.
Wow, that sounds like it would be awesome! It’s really nice when celebrities/role models are really through and through good.
Haul:
Urban Decay Smoked palette, Spectrum palette
Scentbird monthly delivery: Goutte de Rose by Cartier
Allure Beauty Box delivery
Sephora Play! delivery
Weekend Plans: SLEEP and clean, plan our backyard makeover
How do you spend your “me” time? Running errands, reading, at home facials, making a pot of tea and coming on here, cooking, playing with my stash.
How did you like this month’s Play!?
This is my first month with it, I think? I’m pleased – I feel like I get more than $10 worth. 1 or 2 things might just be sample size, but the rest out of six were at least a weeks worth so I feel like it’s a good value. A little bit of everything – hair care, skin care, perfume, makeup. I like that they are all brands I’m familiar with and that I could go to my local store and get the full size if I’m impressed with the sample. I like my Allure Beauty Box also only with the Allure, I get a few obscure things from time to time and don’t really know where to get them if I like them (other than online).
Thank you for the feedback, Pearl! I love hearing how people feel about their beauty boxes 😀

– Teavana Mint Majesty Herbal Tea and Darjeeling de Triomphe Tea (aka one to drink in the evening and one to hella wake me up in the morning)
It’s been a tough week so retail therapy happened…
Weekend plans: avoid the Memorial Day craziness and do my usual homebody with health issues stuff.
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: I also mostly spend mine with my pets, my cats Mao and Nedeep (so named because he’s always knee deep in trouble). Mao is mine and Nedeep was part of a feral litter my sister dumped on us (found loving homes for all the others but he has health issues so we kept him as it was either that or a shelter would have euthanized him) and he’s with my dad for now, but I’m living there at the moment and will probably bring him along if I get healthy enough to move out as he needs other kitty company and my dad is getting older and can’t take the best care of him (plus he wants to travel more). End side note XD. But year, they are super good with the comfort/stress relief thing, particularly since my health dive-bombed a few years ago. I’m definitely lucky to have them around.
Do you feel like Teavana tea is worth the price, Anne?
For me it depends. I only buy during their frequent 30% off sales, so that cuts the price. I also buy selectively, as some teas are pretty cheap and some are waaaaay out of my price range. I do find owning one of their “Perfectea” makers has cut down on the amount of tea from any brand I use, as it shows you how much loose leaf tea spreads out when it’s steeped, as opposed to the little in-cup diffusers and such. I probably use about 1/3 less tea per use now and it still tastes great. I also have a cute little level teaspoon thingy that is my tea measuring spoon so I use a lot less that way as well. I also only get my morning caffeine (and most other drinks) at home, which cuts down on the price of it overall compared to most people, and I find I can reuse good quality tea about 3 times, and I just steep it for longer and have less caffeine in it.
So for me, as a tea lover and someone who is at home a lot, it’s worth it if you shop the sales, but for people who don’t really notice a difference in taste/texture/etc between higher end and lower end tea, then it probably isn’t worth it.
Oh also PS- my absolute favorite tea brand is Palais des Thes. A bit pricer, but their “Thes des Lords” Eary Grey is my favorite tea of anything I’ve ever tried.
Thank you, Anne! I am mostly an herbal tea drinker (no caffeine), but my big thing is I can go on/off with my teas so I don’t always finish them. I remember buying once from Teavana, and when they rang me up, I almost had a heart attack, LOL.
I appreciate the feedback and recs! Might have to pick some up if only for my dad to try next time he visits (he is a big fan of Earl Grey!).
Haul: Urban Decay Rapture, Precision Eyeliner.
Weekend plans: Working two jobs.
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: Reading. I read an average of 30-50 books a year, actually.
Rapture! Such a pretty shade.
Awwwww, those sweet puppy eyes… 🙂 *melts*
Haul: Nothing beauty related this week, but I did pick a suuuuuper cute pair of gladiator sandals in Florence.
Weekend plans: Say goodbye to Italy 🙁
How do you like to spend your “me” time?: Binge-watching Netflix or having a gaming-marathon with the hubby!
Hope you had a great time in Italy!
Haul: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Moonstone at 33% off regular price in Australia and both By Terry Sun Designer palettes in b-glowing 20% sale, shipped all the way from the US and still cheaper than the price here.
Weekend Plans: Woodworking class on Saturday, hiking on Sunday
Me Time: Online window shopping, books and giving myself double-cleanse/double-mask kinda home facials 😀
33% off! Very nice 😀
What are you working on in woodworking?
Was confused between Opal and Moonstone but Opal was a lot more shimmery when I tried both on in store. Planning on getting the Glow on the Go minis set for dressier occasions.
Started recently, learning basic hand skills and some machining for now. Should end up with a decorative cheeseboard and a mahogany box at the end of my beginner’s course.
A cheeseboard! That’s very cool. Hope you are enjoying your class 🙂
