Welcome to Free For Haul Friday!
- Haul: philosophy shower gels (a Christmas set), Jack Black holiday lip balm set, Lavanila deodorant holiday set!
- Weekend plans: Getting back into the swing of things! Check out the local farmers’ market.
- What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: Hot apple cider or Thanksgiving (for the food)!
Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group! 🙂
Mellan is guarding box mountain! Is that your backyard? Looks huge!!
**Haul – can’t believe I didn’t get anything this week, just some SPF lipbalm
**Weekend – clean out one of my shelves to make room for makeup ( storage organizers are coming in next week)
**Favorite Autumn tradition – local pumpkin festival
It is! It’s very long without being deep, so it is great for Mellan to run around on (or throw a football).
What organizers did you get?
The same ones I have now, from The Container Store. The Stackable Desktop Drawers -it’s a set of 3 desktop drawers for $15 TOTAL (not each), and 1 set can hold maybe 75-100 shadows, blushes, powders, blushes, highlighters. It’s meant to hold 8 1/2 x 11 paper, but many people use for cosmetics. Super sturdy plastic/acrylic and stackable. Best organizer ever for me. Also got some more Bigso Stockholm cardboard drawer organizers — good quality, not as sturdy as plastic, but my shelf space is limited, and these fit perfectly. Otherwise, I would buy more of the plastic/acrylic ones.
Haul: MAC Evening Rendezvous lipstick from the holiday collection. It’s a nice purple shade and I don’t have anything like it! And it’s a matte finish, which MAC usually does pretty well.
Weekend plans: My mom and her fiancé are coming out to visit tomorrow! I’m very excited since I haven’t seen them since August. Talking on the phone just isn’t the same.
Favorite autumn tradition: Probably just Halloween in general! It’s a huge deal in the town I grew up in and every single year I used to go out with the same group of friends and go trick or treating, and plan which houses to go to based on who had the best candy in years past. I also love starting my holiday gift shopping. I love thinking about everyone I love, and thinking about what they’d really, really love for a gift. And I can get started on my holiday knitting! I have three gifts-to-be on the needles already.
What gifts will you be knitting so far, Kat?
A scarf in a herringbone pattern for my mom’s fiancé, a hat for my dad and a hat for my brother, and an infinity scarf for my mom!
Haul: The new Colour Pop Gel Cremes and liners just went live! I picked up a few shades.
Weekend plans: Laundry, play in makeup, transition my closet to fall wear.
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: Drinking Caramel Apple Ciders…lol…I love them!
Which shades did you get, Miss Jae?
Where do you get your caramel apple cider? Or do you make it yourself?!!
Haul: Too Faced lipstick Le Petit Tresor set and the Urban Decay Delirious eyeliner set…I’m loving the holiday sets this year!
Weekend Plans: cleaning and re-organizing for fall and maybe some shopping
What’s your favorite autumn tradition? Definitely thanksgiving and also eating caramel apples
Yay! So glad you found a few holiday sets to enjoy, Jennifer!
Haul: Beautyblender Makeup’s Best Friend holiday set and Glamglow Giftsexy Ultimate Antiaging Set.
Weekend plans: Gondolas and Walking Dead!
Favorite fall traditions: Baking pumpkin bread and going to the local Orchard for fresh apples, apple cider, Apple cider donuts, and mums. We also have three fall birthdays (myself and both my daughters) so we have several fun family gatherings in the fall in addition to Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Oooh, I need to try Glamglow, maybe the set will be a good deal!
I can’t live without Youthcleanse Daily Exfoliating Cleanser in the winter, when my skin needs extra help to combat flakiness. The rest is fun but not necessary.
My fave is the ThirstyMud Mask ( teal bottle). It’s a nicely hydrating, very soothing mask, with coconut and honey, and has a light, natural coconut scent. Thought it might be good, since AZ has much drier climate
Haul: Sephora Jem and the Holograms palette and liquid lip set.
Weekend plans: I hope to film an unusual Halloween look.
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: Apple cider as well… but I can drink it anymore. T-T Too much sugar.
How are you liking the palette, Ani_bee?
It’s solid! There’s only one shade that’s a dude (the first purple) and it has the quality of the Disney Princess palettes Sephora put out a few years ago.
Interested in this palette!
Haul: Skincare, maybe. (I’m debating a Paula’s Choice order today–I need some new toner/serum/moisturizer, but I’d hate to go through the trouble and expense of muling skincare overseas only to have a bad reaction. 🙁 *shakes fist at sensitive skin*)
Weekend plans: Cleaning, as always. Maybe some baking!
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: I love cooking Thanksgiving dinner–all the womenfolk in our family end up working together in the kitchen while the guys keep the younguns occupied. (Usually with Wii games.) I won’t be there this year, but I’ll still be making sweet potatoes.
Poor skin! I have heard a lot of good things about Paula’s Choice, though – many readers here use the brand. Do they have a good return policy? (Haven’t tried it personally!)
Cute dog! He looks very contemplative.
Haul: Korres Equisetum 24h Deodorant, Ciate London Skinny Shadow Stick in Rebound and Best Dressed, Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick in Orchid. The deodorant works great-not for 24 hours on me, but it smells nice and works better than any other non-aluminum salts containing deodorant I’ve ever used, so yay! The Ciate London Skinny Shadow sticks are ok. I don’t love them. It can be kind of difficult to get enough product on it, but they do work and I can see getting some use out of them. The Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick is fabulous though, and I can’t wait to get more.
Weekend plans: My mom is having a big Halloween costume party next week, so I have a feeling we’re going to spend the weekend making food in advance. Not my favorite thing ever, but at least it’ll be done.
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: Well, when I lived in New York it was going to a local apple cider making factory. They had apple donuts, pies, a million different kinds of apple, fudge, cheese, just everything, really. This is my first autumn in a southern state, and I have no idea what to do that’s autumn-centric. Maybe I’ll sit in a corner and cry about the fact that it STILL isn’t cold enough for me to wear the cute autumn jackets I’ve been buying. Lol, I don’t really like it here.
Sorry, I meant to ask, how are you liking the Lavanila deodorant? I was going to buy that but got the Korres instead. I try to stay away from deodorants containing aluminum, so I’m always looking for something that actually works.
24 hour deodorant! Good to know that it at least is better than others you use!
Lavanila works fine for every day, but I feel like if you worked out for an hour or two, it isn’t as good as regular ones 🙁 I have heard Arm & Hammer is the best but have never found it locally (haven’t looked in a good bit, though).
Thank you for letting me know! =) I may have to get a Lavanila deodorant some time and see how it works. (I haven’t been exercising a whole lot, due to injuries.) I’ll have to try the Arm & Hammer one too. I’ve never seen it around here either, but it looks like Amazon has it. Thanks again!
I’ve been wanting that Laura Mercier caviar stick in Orchid; now that I’ve heard someone say they like it, I feel better about ordering it online.
Haul: I probably will be picking up some things I need like dry shampoo and body scrub plus the It Cosmetics Luxe brush set from Ulta
Weekend plans: Last college tour for my sister (I think) and then relaxing on Sunday
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: My birthday, Halloween festivities, and Thanksgiving food (yum)
What dry shampoo do you use, Monica?
The house looks lovely Christine! I’m really happy for you and your husband! Best wishes for great things to come in your new home. 🙂
Haul: Benefit Real Cheeky Part Kit, Nars One Shocking Moment blush palette, Laura Mercier Blush & Glow Radiant Face trio, ColourPop Strobing II kit (My cheeks are overwhelmed!), Tom ford eye cream in Night Sky, Bite beauty lipstick in Kir Royale, Sunday Riley Flora oil (great for dry skin) and FAB ultra concentrated cream ( I like this. But, I’m having trouble figuring out how to get my sunscreen over it and under makeup. So, It may become a hand balm or get returned. I’ve ordered a Sulwasoo cream to try as I feel myself jumping on the K beauty wagon. My skin is already super dry and it’s not even winter! I think the medicine has to be effecting it. I pre-saled some of the Chanel and Tom Ford Holiday collections. So, I guess that should come next week.
Weekend Plans: I’m going to the Beauty trend event at Nordstrom later this afternoon. I have an appointment at MAC. I probably will be getting some of the new Holiday stuff! Tomorrow and Sun -cleaning and watching soccer games and I’m dying for a pedi/mani. So, I need to squeeze it in(after cleaning)!
My favorite autumn tradition: I think I like Halloween the best! It’s just fun!
Have a good weekend everyone!
Thank you again, Nicole!
Is the Sulwasoo cream your first foray into Asian beauty, Nicole? How is the scent on Sunday Riley’s Flora oil?
Not really. I’ve dabbled a little bit. I have been loyal with a few 3 or 4 products from Amore Pacific. I believe Sulwasoo and Amore Pacific are made by the same company? The Sephora locally started carrying AP a couple of years a go But, it’s not the full line. There is no Sulwasoo here so I just researched and with the help of Nordstrom, ordered it. My skin is so, so uncomfortably dry and I find it works best for me to layer oil and serums. When it’s not dry, I work on other issues with other serums, retinol, AHA/BHA. So, I think I was doing “K-beauty” style skin care before it was cool. It certainly interests me to try the products. I read a statement in the book that came with my Play! box from Sephora that basically said Korean skin care is usually cutting-edge because it’s s competitive there so the manufacturers are always looking to one-up one another. Makes sense to me.
The Flora is beautiful smelling… like roses. Not like cooking oil like Juno. Although I do think Juno is a good oil too. Flora certainly won’t get you kicked out of bed by your mate. I actually read a review on Sephora.com where the lady said her husband kicked her out of bed because of the smell, lol. I slather my face in that oil and honestly, it does smell like olive oil for about 5 minutes. But, it has some god stuff in it.
I had a tub of that FAB Ultra Repair Intense cream, and it’s pretty thick, so I was using as an overnight face mask and hand cream. It’s not bad, but I prefer my face creams a little lighter, I can see it being a challenge trying to wear under sunscreen and foundation. Can you let me know how you like the Sulwasoo cream? I’ve always been curious about that brand…
Absolutely Katherine! I also just ordered the cushion compact foundation from them. So, I’ll let you know about that too! I’m a bit worried on the shade as it only comes in 4 and I ordered the darkest. I have been wanting to try their stuff too! I ordered it from a store so the SA said she would include some samples of some of their other products. Pretty pricey- not ridiculous, but not cheap. But, I’ve seen nothing but positive reviews. Ingredients look good. Sometimes you just got to pay it. Well, you bought 2 Mac X Quo Pei quads so you get it. You get one face. I tried some La Mer samples.,still dry. But, what did help – the SA at MAC have me this tip. Last night , I stopped at Walgreens and got some Vitamin E capsules. I did my skincare as usual. When I put on that thick FAB stuff, I popped the vit E capule open with a pin and mixed it. Went to bed all greased up. Much better! So remember that in winter. As far as the FAB & makeup , it’s doable. But, I have to change my routine and shower earlier and it needs like 20 min to soak before I can add sunscreen!
LOL, yes I couldn’t stop thinking (obsessing) about Morning Light, and I don’t want any regrets in my makeup life, so I finally caved. I was afraid it was going to make me look jaundiced, but if I warm up my face a little with WNW Reserve Your Cabana and some peachy blush/lipstick, it looks great. I tried La Mer, and while it is ok, I don’t find it all that special or worth the price. I don’t know if this helps or not, but in the mornings, after a shower, I layer on a moisturizing sunscreen, get dressed, read Temptalia, put on foundation, then dry my hair with the dryer. The air from the dryer helps speed up the drying of the foundation. I have a T3 Featherweight Dryer and it doesn’t get very hot (by design), so it doesn’t dry up my face. Then I put face powder on top. That Vitamin E oil tip sounds great! Thanks for the tip, don’t know why I never thought of that. And it’s probably cheap too, will keep that in mind this coming winter!
Thanks for the tips Katherine! I’ve heard of the T3 products. I never thought of the benefit to the skin though! I may have to look into a dryer for my” Christmas to me” wish list. I have a pretty good dryer though. I’ll ask my stylist about it this week. He got it for me actually. He is an old high school friend of mine and gets me deals on that stuff as well as hair coloring/ cutting. I mostly wash my hair at night though to avoid drying it because I’m trying to grow it. I had to cut so much off for all of my surgeries! Vit E is super cheap! $25 for 300 capsules here. I personally find the FAB more mousturing than LaMer. That’s what I’m looking for right now.I feel like the LaMer is nice and if I used one thing on my face I would get it. I agree, not $170 special because I’m still dry at 4pm. Hope all is well with you! 🙂
If you look on Sephora, the T3 has very mixed reviews. Appears there are a lot of QC issues (dryer dies, doesn’t have hot air, falls apart), so if you buy, make sure you keep your receipts / packaging /warranty in case you need to return to Sephora or T3. And if you like lots of hot air, this dryer won’t be for you. The fan is suppose to spin faster so you don’t need the air to be so hot, and it’s suppose to dry hair faster. But I took a chance and bought it during Sephora sale and with additional discount. At first it took a while to get used to the cool/warm air, but I have to say, my hair doesn’t get as dried out as with regular dryers, it looks healthier, and I blow dry every day. But I also do half air-drying, and use a styling cream on my ends, so that probably helps too. But it is great for drying/setting foundation without drying out my face LOL
Will do Katherine! I was thinking the upcoming Sephora sale would be a good time to get that. I could use a flat iron too. Maybe they have a set of some sort. I’m not much into my hair. As long as it’s healthy so when it needs to look good, I’m fine. Lol. So,most days, my makeup looks good and my hair is just air dried and thrown up, lol. Maybe if I get some fancy hair stylin stuff , I’ll actually fix it. Ha! Thanks girl! I always enjoy chatting with ya! You have me thinking about Mac’s Night Sky quad with your “No regrets” quote! I always think of that look Christine did with it. My eyes about popped out of my head. Yeah, I got dupes. It may be sold out. I don’t need it. I’ve been buying too much stuff. We’ll see what the fates bring. 🙂
Haul: Isadora Twist Up Matt Lips in Dark Velvet! It’s the same shade as MAC Media, but the formula is much much better! And it’s vegan, cruelty free and budget friendly so I LOVE IT!
Weekend plans: Tomorrow I have a test for college/university applications, I think it’s like the SAT? And on Sunday my family is going to my grandmother and we’re staying there for the week 🙂
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: I don’t have any special autumn traditions I think.
Happy to hear that Isadora’s formula is better!
Haul: W3LL People Nudist Lipbalm in Poppy. Where did you find a Lavanila deodorant holiday set, Christine?
Weekend plans: No sure yet!
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: Halloween candy, LOL!
Sephora! 🙂
I got that Jack Black lipbalm set too — great deal! I’m using the Cherry flavor now, yum!
Yummy!! I have so many, but the sets are a little cheaper than buying individually… plus, flavors!
I reeeally need that Jack Black lip balm set! My lips are messed up just recently? It’s so weird!
Mellan, Guardian of Box Mountain.
Haul: Gosh, SO much this week, you got a minute? The best haul was probably the new L’Oreal Steampod though.
Weekend plans: Dinner and game night with friends tomorrow!
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: I don’t really have any autumn traditions. Is that weird?
Have fun with friends! 🙂
And not weird – you are not the only one who answered that way!
Haul: Laura Mercier’s holiday Caviar stick set. I got 10% off at Nordstroms and couldn’t resist! I have the full sized plum and black ones and really like them.
Weekend Plans: Maybe catch a movie with my daughter. I wouldn’t mind seeing a thriller or scary movie like Crimson Peak. I need to declutter for a upcoming move myself. Congratulations on your new home, love the wood floors! Hope Mellan adjusts well to his new digs too!
Favorite Autumn Tradition: Probably Halloween. Love seeing the kids costumes ,giving out and eating the candy . For the last couple years I’ve been enjoying Trader Joes Pumpkin Spice coffee.
Are you a big scary movie buff, Denise? I can’t watch them! I get so scared, LOL!
Yes love scary movies. I’m anxiously awaiting all of the Halloween scary movie marathons!!
Haul: It was going to be just my Glossybox, but I stumbled across an Aesop shop in Portland after a doc appointment and got their Parsley Seed Mask, which I’ve been wanting to try for a while. I didn’t even know there were Aesop stores in the US, let alone in a tiny city like Portland!
Weekend plans: Not much, just chilling out.
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: It used to be Thanksgiving because of the family I got to see that I don’t see often, but it’s been 4 years since I’ve been able to make it home for Thanksgiving so now I’m not sure. I’d then say pumpkin carving but I can’t physically do that anymore. It’s probably either mulled cider or just stalking the makeup counters for holiday releases.
Wow! How cool is it that you happened to go by it! How are you liking the mask?
I finally used it this morning and I really like it. It’s tightening without being too drying (though of course I put on serum/moisturizer/eye cream after) and was tingly at first which had me slightly worried but didn’t cause any skin irritation. It seems to have smoothed things out somewhat as well which is always good, and it didn’t activate my rosacea so it’s definitely good for sensitive skin. I’m already guessing it’s going to be one of my favorites, and I can see why it’s a cult classic.
Haul: Big Sephora haul: Tarte Holidaze palette and Celebrate blusher, Sephora lip glaze in Pomegranate Shimmer, Bite Beauty holiday lip crayon set, and Tatcha Dewy Mist. Very pleased! Also have NARS Fantascene cheek palette in Despair and Killer Heels mini lipstick set (love the cute sizes!), from NARS UK. I went to L’Occitaine this week and got a free 2-week sample of their Divine cream, as well as small samples of their Divine eye cream and facial oil. Then picked up some mud masks and Manuka Doctor blemish cream from Holland & Barrett.
Plans for weekend: I’m feeling low in energy due to needing a vitamin b12 jab (can’t absorb it thru food for medical reasons) so won’t be doing much but will be going to my FIL’s house for dinner tomorrow eve with my fiancé and little girl.
What I love about Autumn traditions? Halloween and Fireworks Night, got a pumpkin outfit for my little girl cos she’s our wee pumpkin! I love this time of year leading up to Xmas and Hogmanay, after that, winter is not so fun!
Very nice Sephora haul, Claire! What are your favorites so far?
I hope you can get some relaxation and rest in this weekend!
Haul: Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipsticks in Gothica, Piaf, and Magick, Morphe 35O palette (FINALLY), MAC pink holiday lip kit, Please Me in the LE packaging, Oh Darling (!!!), Shaft of Gold, and Evening Rendezvous lipstick. ColourPop Gel liners in Zulu, Prance, Get Paid, Dirty Talk, Exit, and Cry Baby, liquid lipstick in Tulle.
Weekend plans: RELAX, go to the gym, and work a little.
Favorite Autumn tradition: Going to the corn maze is really fun. When I was in college, our homecoming bonfire and parade were always around this time of year!
How is the Morphe palette, Estefania?
Have a lovely, relaxing weekend!
Haul: from Cargo, I bought The Essentials eyeshadow palette. I also picked up a Shiseido cream eyeshadow in a lovely brown shade (BR306) and some Etival facial cleansing wipes. Shiseido had a great GWP so I now have some great travel sizes and the cosmetician at SDM also gave me a gift pack from Clarins because I shop there a LOT so it was like getting LOTS of extra makeup/skincare goodies.
Weekend plans: a friend is coming to stay and we’re going out to celebrate my and my husband’s birthdays and then I’m taking her to brunch at a great place down the street.
Favourite fall tradition: The Rockton World’s Fair on Thanksgiving weekend and Thanksgiving in general. And I love switching back to fall type clothing – cozy sweaters, boots, long skirts and tights.
Birthdays! More birthdays. How exciting!
How is the Cargo palette? I have eyed reviewing it, but I’m holding off until I get through the current stack!
To be perfectly honest, I’m not crazy about it. Several of the lighter shades are basically all the same once applied (or there is very little difference among them all). I’ve only used it twice so really need to give it a bit more time but, based on their single shadows, I was hoping it would be better and more “exciting”. Two of the dark shades are really good, though. But, like I say, I need to work with it a bit more.
Oh, that sounds like a disappointment 🙁
Haul:
*Birthday — UD Urban Spectrum and Vice 4 (rec’d early 😉 ), Guerlain Merteorites Light Revealing 02 Clair Pearls of Power, and MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus II lipstick and lipglass; MUFE 15 Artist Shadow Palette. Also, the Sephora VIB Rouge NARS One Year Bolder birthday gift: Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien, Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, and Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto.
*Pacifica (used bday coupon code for $10 off) — solid perfumes in Mediterranean Fig, Tuscan Blood Orange, and Mexican Cocoa.
* E.l.f. — the four new Lip Kiss balms; Moisturizing Lipstick in Bordeaux Beauty and Razzle Dazzle Red; Lip Color Remover; Lip Exfoliator; Studio Blush in Merry Berry; Everyday Smoky palette; Shine Eraser blotting sheets; Studio Crease Brush; 32-pc Eyeshadow Palette (free bday gift).
Weekend plans: We’re watching our friends’ kids for a few days next week, while the parents get some alone time for dad’s birthday. So we’ll be readying the house and grocery shopping. The kids are 6, 9 and 13, I believe. They’re really great kids, and we’re excited to have some little ones in the house.
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: Having Thanksgiving and putting up the Christmas tree the next day.
Yay for birthday gifts 😀 We seem to have lots of October birthdays around here!
Love my spectrum palette, hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Ditto for Miley II, and the gloss is SO NICE! Hoping Sephora will keep that Nars birthday gift for one more month because I am turning 50 on November 1 and I want that one! Happy birthday, Rachel!
Hi, Tammy! I’m absolutely in love with the Spectrum palette. It’s soooo beautiful, and the shadow quality is amazing. I love the Miley II set. The lipstick is even brighter than I thought it would be, which I love. I think Sephora keeps the birthday gifts for the calendar year. Have a happy birthday!
Happy Birthday Rachel! Glad hubby got you the UD Spectrum palette before it disappeared into thin air. I grabbed mine and love it 🙂 And hope your tendon strain is getting better. If not, hey at least you’ll be looking spectacular with all that great makeup !
Thank you, Katherine! We got Spectrum as soon as the UD website put it up. I’m glad you were able to snag one, too! I keep waiting to hear they pull a Vice Ltd and “find some in a warehouse.”
It took a week to get crutches. The medical equipment place utterly screwed the order up, and didn’t really care (they lied to me, too). I had to call the specialist’s office and complain, but they found another place that had them in stock. So now, maybe I can keep the weight off the tendon. It’s not as painful as it was a couple weeks ago, so that’s something.
Haul: ColourPop gel liners and pencil liners, in plural! I am almost running out of my favorite liner from Clinique, and it’s no longer available on Sephora. Then the savior of the industry, ColourPop just dropped an email to me saying “they are here, the gel liners”. Of course I went all over it.
Weekend plans: One concert to go. Then I need to test my halloween makeup. You know, lasting power, comfort of wearing, blah blah.
What’s your favorite autumn tradition?: spicy pumpkin/apple-scented candle for the night, then read and chill under heavy blanket, with our famous rain in the PNW.
Keep me posted on how you like the ColourPop liners!
Haul, nothing makeup-y, a hand creme from Merumaya and an eye creme from Body Shop.
Weekend, right now I’d say sleep. 🙂 Nothing really.
I don’t have any autumn traditions 🙁 Now I want one!
Hope you have some good sleep 😉
Haul: Nothing yet but it’s my birthday tomorrow so who knows!
Weekend Plans: The plans I had for my birthday got dashed so now it’s a seat of the pants thing.
Favorite things about Autumn: My birthday, Fresh Apple Cider (hot preferred), Thanksgiving food ( only if me or my grandma cooking though) and the foliage!
Happy birthday, Erin!
Happy birthday! Hope you treat yourself to something(s) nice 🙂
Haul- Origins Vita zing (repurchase ), Nars dual intensity eyeshadow in Telesto, Clinique Cheek pop blushes in Heather pop and Nude pop, Bite Beauty lip set (sticks, not tubes), and Mac Oh darling extra dimension skin finish.
Weekend Plans- Today is my birthday so dinner with the family, brunch with friends tomorrow and I have a beauty event on Sunday!
Autumn Tradition- is it fair to say my b day lol, just kidding love hiking in the fall!
Cheek Pops!!
Happy birthday, Vanessa!
Oh Christine – I know what you are going through, having moved a few years ago. How is it going? Mellon looks angelic amongst those boxes – how is he settling n?
I know what you’ll be doing this weekend…..I love farmer’s markets myself. I hope it’s a good one.
The floorboards look beautiful in your home.
Haul – going to the Natio wharehouse this Sunday to pick up some ultra cheap goodies for Christmas presents. Usually really great sales and I make up my own collections for friends/family as birthday/Christmas presents. The best body and bath products around – plant based, cruelty free and suitable for sensitive skins. Their cosmetic range is coming along nicely too. Their new blush palette Sunkissed wears on me for 9/10 hours without fading – never had that before.
Weekend plans – housework, going to the Wharehouse and my family over for Sunday Dinner.
Autumn Tradition – my favourite season – Going up into the local hills, visiting gardens and a yummy afternoon tea in the many cafes up there.
We were unpacked as of last weekend! Our stuff was delivered on Friday, and we were done on Sunday. I don’t like boxes hanging around (I find that if I don’t get it done ASAP, things start to linger). Mellan is doing well so far! He is mostly normal, I’d say 😀
I have never heard of Natio before, Genevieve! Any specific recs?
Natio is a big brand in Australia and is Australian owned. I started using their bath and body products about a decade ago and haven’t had a problem with any product I have used. Their Spa cleanser body wash is sensational after a hot day. The Apple blossom body butter is glorious as are their scrubs. They bring out new products all the time. I have been using their mature age serum on my skin for the past 6 months and it is fantastic. They have really great deals and lots of gifts with purchase that are very generous. The sales are stunning. They are on the web – just enter in Natio and it will come up.
Box mountain, indeed! He’s been dwarfed by it! How has Mellan adjusted so far?
Haul: MUFE 15 Artist Shadows Palette, Bite Kir Royale 250 pt. set, Clinique High Impact Mascara pt. perk, a bunch of samples too! MAC Ascent Of Glamour and Tonight’s The Night Colordrenched Pigments which were already available at Scottsdale Fashion Square yesterday, but both face highlighter powders were sold out!
Weekend plans: doing my usual routine ; hair, nails, Sunday meeting. Going over to Ulta to return that Rimmel lipliner, it was much too creamy to make a precise, clean line. Getting Zoya Suri if it’s still available.
Favorite Autumn tradition: It was something we used to do back in NJ. Apple picking! The kids loved it because the orchard we went to had a lot of other fun things there to do. And I love hot apple cider, pumpkin pie and getting to wear fall clothing for several months!
Pretty good, I’d say! He’s definitely making the adjustment. There’s a walk-in closet in my office, and he kept going in there, so we had to close the door – and now he moves between his big bed and the chaise (which is different, because he never really went up on the chaise on his own accord before). Otherwise, he’s been pretty normal! Excited to eat, follows me everywhere (that’s normal, haha), ready to play.
Apple picking!! How fun is that.
Oh, that’s very good to hear that he’s done so well with it! I think dogs usually handle change better than cats, mine get very clingy for a good week in a new place. As for these walk-in closets that most places out here have, pets LOVE them! I have to keep my door shut, too, or else find 3 felines in it, LoL
Haul: I was in NYC last week for my honeymoon (it was amazing!!) and I bought some cool stuff like the Tom Ford Nude Dip Eye Palette from Saks Fifth Ave, I bought some Bite Beauty lipsticks from the Frozen Berries Collection (Juniper and Barberry) since I couldn’t get them in Canada! And I even got to make a few lipsticks at the Bite Beauty Lip Lab in Soho! It was awesome! I came out with a muted orange-y shade, and a mid-tone berry shade. I also got a New York mug from Starbucks – I have a similar one from Las Vegas – where we eloped in spring 🙂 I also bought a blazer from TopShop. And I received a Sephora order which included Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare (love!) and the Superliminal gloss.
Weekend plans: Going head first into some homework! And probably a run or two 🙂
What’s your favorite autumn tradition? Starting to hermit for the winter 😛
I also bought a Diptyque eau de parfum in Do Son!! It’s a beautiful soft floral fragrance it’s described as “top notes are african orange flower, rose and iris; middle notes are tuberose and pink pepper; base notes are benzoin and musk.” Which is way better than how I would put it! 😀 It’s gorgeous!
Aww! Sounds like you had a nice honeymoon, Meghan! 😀
You made quick work of unpacking and settling in, Christine. I bet that’s a relief!
Haul: Attended a beauty bash at a new Nordstrom and introduced to a number of new products. Most aren’t ‘seasonal’, so are noted for a sales event. I did buy my very first Tom Ford Lipstick in Flame. Yay! Also had a mini clothing haul. Locally, I tried on Bobbi Brown’s baked Sequin Eye Shadow in Constellation (brown & gold). When applied dry, the glitter fallout went all over my face. Application was much better with a wet brush but when I got home, my eyes and face were so irritated that I took it off and treated my skin. Will be returning the Sequin eye shadow. Bought a ‘dupe’ look at the CCO: Bobbi Brown sparkle cream shadow & liner in Sunlit Bronze and a Vanilla cream eye shadow stick.
Weekend: We had family visit this week, so doing the post-visit cleanup. We’re also having firewood delivered for the winter.
Autumn tradition: Definitely apple cider and applesauce (although I love warm applesauce all year round)!
It is! I hate having boxes around, lol!
Congrats on your first Tom Ford lipstick! Was it worth it? 😉
Haul: just ordered the Lorac unzipped palette set from Ulta with my 20% off coupon, along with a bunch of Pacifica wipes and lotions (their deodorant wipes are the BEST, I like them more than any natural deo I’ve tried) and Juice Beauty’s CC cream (it’s like half off before the 20% right now!). I don’t love Juice beauty’s skincare tho, so not sure how I’ll like it. Also made a big order on Mychelle.com – absolute favorite natural skincare, cannot recommend enough.
Weekend plans: my 5 year old son had to be taken to the emergency room this week, and we’re still at the hospital with him, 4 days later and counting. He was diagnosed with type one diabetes. It’s a very hard adjustment and time for our family. 🙁
Autumn traditions: going to pumpkin patches with our boys and Halloween of course. Although…now candy is kind of out, indefinitely.
YES! The Unzipped palette set! A great deal, especially an extra 20% off!
I’m really excited to get them!!! I didn’t own any of them and I’ve wanted the original unzipped and the cheek palette for a long time! And since the unzipped gold is basically free, that’s awesome and hey, I’ll take it! 😉
I forgot to ask, Christine, but I’ve been so curious – what made you guys move from CA to AZ? We had to move from OR back to NV just two months ago, and I’m so bummed to be back in the desert!
Cost of living 🙂
Understandable! It’s pretty much what brought us back to NV – jobs and cost of living. How do you like it so far?
