Haul: can you believe NOTHING (though I am going to Sephora this afternoon to do a bit of damage!)
Weekend plans: it’s all changed because our older son is able to make a short visit home on his way back to Edmonton so we’ve wiped the slate clean to spend time with him, except that I’m going shopping for saris on Sunday with a few friends – we’re all attending a wedding in India this February and need garments for the various events
Besides beauty, what are your major interests: my family, first of all – they matter most in the world to me; regular “interests” – sewing, cooking, travel, yoga/fitness

It was a slow buying week for me because today starts Tax Free weekend in Virginia and Sunday starts Tax Free Week in Maryland so I’m planning on shopping for clearance items and Fall goodies this weekend. I’m also saving up to purchase at least one of the Louboutin lipsticks in September and the Fall LE By Terry palette.

Besides beauty, what are your major interests?: I collect Russel Wright. I am into architecture and design; particularly American Modern. I am also interested in law and medicine (primarily what I read for leisure reading). I’m also borderline Crazy Cat Woman…I have 2 rescues in my home (3 yo male named Trouble and almost 1 yo female named Kat) and I support an outside feral cat community (and yes, they all have names too but I won’t go there and validate the Crazy Cat Woman status – LOL).

At last count it was about a dozen. My current two are actually abandoned kittens from their litters. Trouble is the son of Skinny (the sister of the litter Fuzzy and Skinny from Flash and Hobo “Grampa Hobo”) and Larry (one of the boys from Mama Cat’s litter of Larry, Mo, and Curly.) He was dropped at my door by Skinny and was sick, flea infested, and had gunky eyes. Kat is the daughter of Faux Mama (unknown father – the hussy!) She was also abandoned and was sick and had fleas and ear mites. They are both healthy now. The ferals are all spay/neutered now to the extent it was possible and also include Ash, Stormy, Smoke, Cinder (4 from a litter) and Pepe (black cat with white stripe down tail). Ahhhhh – see what happens when you get me talking cats! 🙂 (It should also be noted that this is where what would be my additional cosmetic money goes to!)

My mom always took care of feral cats till her health got really bad. She adopted 6 feral kittens she saved, fed them, captured as many as she could and got them spayed/neutered and into no-kill shelters. I had 5 cats (3 were feral kittens my mom rescued) till I had to move to a place where we couldn’t have them. I still miss having kitties. Right now we have a rescue bunny, a corn snake, and family of squirrels that think they’re pets (in the winter, they’ll actually knock on the back door when their feeder need filled). Plus we feed all the wild birdies.
Oh, I miss squirrels! I would love it if they knocked on my door! LOL
I grew up in Ohio and we had a family of squirrels in our neighborhood who would entertain us. My father used to sit on the front porch eating peanuts, and one brave little fellow would actually take peanuts from his hand.
By the way, our interests are remarkably similar… =)
Welcome to the club! I am a fellow “Crazy Cat Lady”, and I’m proud of it, nothing to be ashamed of! Own it! I have 3 of my own, indoors…but we have many stray and feral cats in our neighborhood, so yep!
Haul: Becca Velvet Touch in Malika and bronzer/highlighter duo in Serrana — d/c:d sadly but I wanted to try something of Becca before splurging on anything else! I also would have gotten the MUFE HD foundation but they had already run out of my shade in Helsinki.
Weekend plans: Picking some cloudberries for winter!
Besides beauty, what are your major interests?: I am heavily involved in local Saami politics and language revitalization efforts (which is what I do for a living rn) and somewhat involved in int’l indigenous issues. Between them, beauty and running as a hobby (currently training for a quarter marathon in Sept) I don’t have time to get bored. 🙂

Hehe, theres a lot (not my work though) but to keep it short: thanks to a bunch of resilient people one of my ancestral languages is no longer on the brink of extinction, and because there are programs now, I was able to learn it well enough to be fluent and be able to contribute further 🙂 first thing I did on my own was makeup vocabulary lol.
Go you! It’s incredible to learn another language, but it’s even more awesome when it is one that is meaningful to you!
Do you plan on reviewing Catrice products? Catrice is one of my favourite drugstore brands and I am interested to see what you think about it 🙂

After I get my BS, I’m going to pursue a career in medicine, with the possibility of med school. Maybe I should stop buying makeup and save for that!

Fingers crossed all your animals get along! My parents are hoping to adopt a new dog this weekend (theirs passed away a few months ago).
I think I fall inlove with this brush shampoo.easy to clean even my dirty week old foundation brushes and smell so good,not perfume-ly but just fresh smell.they can used with all hairs type but for me I think they work best with natural hairs,make my soft squirrel brushes even softer!

My father is dogsitting all weekend so that my boyfriend and I can paint the room we refer to as the Dog Den. I’m already missing my doglings, and they’ve only just left! But the house is so quiet now…

It is really weird when Mellan is gone (even though we just have the one dog). He had his teeth cleaned on Friday, and while he’s a very quiet and easy-going dog, the house feels colder without him lazing around.
Well, for some background, I live with my boyfriend and a mutual friend of ours. The three of us humans also share the house with one cat and two dogs — my half lab, half Rottweiler (the light of my life), and one frustrating but endearing half Sheltie, half terrier. Both dogs are black and tan with the Rottie colors, one large and short furred, one small and very fuzzy.
Anyway, the house is set up to where our roommate gets the downstairs basement area for himself, and then my boyfriend and I sorta get the main / upstairs areas to ourselves. There was one awkward room that fell under our domain that we kept going back on forth on how to use it. Guest bedroom? But we already have a guest futon area… computer room? Eh. We already have two recording studio rooms in the house, which have plenty of computer space. Buuuut then we decided it would be useful to have a room where we can shut the dogs, especially if my boyfriend or roomie have people over to record music who are allergic or scared of dogs.
We made the room all cozy for them and accidentally did such a good job that now we spend all our time in there. Thus — it’s the Dog Den! And I love it. I’ll love it even more when it’s muted pale blue and not gross *slightly* greenish tan brown. 🙂
*ps — This may make the house sound like a huge mansion; it’s not — we just configured it for music purposes very dedicatedly!

It’s called Caspian, from their Aquarium collection. It’s like a gold/pink duochrome! I want an eyeshadow the same shade… so unusual and pretty!

Haul: three Kevyn Aucoin creamy glow blushes. (I got one of his blushes and loved it so much, I got three more.) The quality is similar to Chanel and MUFE cream blushes. I’m considering getting one Buxom Bold Gel lipstick (Graphic Grape) but haven’t decided yet. Christine, did you happen to buy Graphic Grape?
Weekend Plan: None yet. Maybe do some gardening outdoors.
Interests: nonfictional reading (military history, health, recipe books, weird subjects, etc.), cooking, gardening, makeup, people watching and TV series like House of Cards, Game of Thrones, etc.

Haul: My Nars fall order finally come. I got VIP Red lipstick., Babydoll gloss, Tribulation highlighter, and both of the dual-intensity shadows. The SA was sweet and threw in a mini Priscilla gloss and Deep Throat blush. It must me Nars week for me because I used the VIB code with a Sephora order and received a cute little back pouch filled with a mini Nars primer for the face, a pro-prime for the eyes and orgasm blush. Urban Decay matte lipstick in Temper and Tilt and lip liners in 1993 and Bittersweet. Mac Heaux(amplified), Wet n Wild Reserve Your cabana highlighter, Tom ford 01 Moodlight illuminating duo. I can’t remember if I mentioned the Laure Gellar Blushes and Highlighter I ordered last week. They came scattered this week. I got; Gilded Honey, Plumberry, Guava,and Papaya. I am loving those! I picked up a Dipbrow in chocolate,. I keep going back and forth between the pomade and powder. I guess it’s nice to have options!:). Then , I just ordered a new face cream, a Beauty Blender, a clarisonic brush head and some shampoo and conditioner. It pushed me over the 1000 point mark. So, now I may have to drive myself nuts to try to score an “Epic reward” ! lol!
Weekend Plans: Back to school shopping for my daughter some more, laundry, and hopefully some time at the pool!
Other interests besides beauty: Between work, keeping up with my daughter,beauty, and a health condition-it’s been difficult to have other interests. Before I became sick, I was very athletic. I’m hoping to start exercising soon once I get cleared by surgeon( hopefully next week)!

I agree Christine. I actually started ordering more directly from the SAs out of frustration with the LE collections online. Particularly, Mac. But, I just feel easier knowing I can call a week or so ahead of time and I’m good. No beauty sleep lost anymore trying to grab LE stuff. If I’m just planning to get an item, I’ll do it online. But, if I’m looking to get more then a couple of things ,I call. At Nordstrom,they work on comission, so they totally appreciate the business. Plus,most times after if that SA keeps me in the loop, I’ll call them and say hey, can you send me this and that and they get comission for what I was going to buy anyhow. I feel like it’s good to help out one another any way we can.:)

Thanks for asking about my health. You are always so sweet. I have had a good deal of improvement overall. I rate it at 75-85% . But, I am left with a good deal of pain in the upper branch of the trigeminal nerve. I am seeing the surgeon this Tues.for my one month follow up. He has mentioned the possibility of some permanent nerve damage just because the nerve basically was injured for so long. So, I suppose we will discuss how to deal with that.I was hoping for 100% no pain after the surgery. So,dealing with that reality has not been swell .But, it’s much better and still like I said ..there are options to try. Sorry if that was tmi! 🙂

Out of all the NARS shades Bridgitte is the one sold out always in stores when I go. last time I asked for it, 3 others girls just after also asked for it while i was looking at the NARS products as well with no luck. I’m willing to splurge on it now because it’s managed to make it to my top pick from NARS as well, but it’s such a flattering rosy pink on most skin tones. lol

♥ Besides beauty, what are your major interests: Oh, this is tough! Makeup is probably 95% of my interest. The last 5% is a bevvy of stuff I like to teach myself. But that 5% is dominated by teaching myself to samba. Not ballroom samba, but samba no pé; like, Rio de Janeiro carnival samba. The cardio from that is intense, and your calves and thighs will thank you.

The Fashion Fair powder in Air is the winner, so far. It’s similar to Hourglass’ AL in Radiant Light, but just slightly better. The gold in Air is a touch more vibrant.

No, I’ve not tried the eyeshadows yet, but I have heard good things about them. I’ve only ever tried their stick foundations and the face powders I recently purchased. I say just buy one FF eyeshadow and give it a go. I hesitated with FF before, and then I became pleasantly surprised. Yeah, FF prices are a bit high, so I buy from online venues that offer coupon codes; or I go to eBay. Lol. I hope you give it a try. 🙂

Hi Tammy. I surf a lot of makeup blog sales and happened to come across it. I too had been looking for it for a year, and had constantly missed my chance to snag it from other blog sales. But this time, I truly was in the right place at the right time.
What is a blog sale?
It’s where people sell their (heavily or lightly) used or brand new makeup. The sales can be on the seller’s own blog site or at a specific makeup online community. A lot of the time it’s by regular people who’ve just collected a numerous amount of makeup, and once in a while, it’s professional makeup artists who want to downgrade their stash. It’s a great way to buy makeup at a discounted price.

Stone Fox! That shade looks sooo cool.
It is really, really cool. It’s similar to the Wicked Lippie in Chambourd, only it’s matte. It worked well for the really hot weather but still looked kind of edgy.

Btw, Whirl went BACK because it looked and felt so dry after only 3 hours, so I ordered Royally Riotous instead.

Then right there, a mini-step behind, is my family: my son, my daughter and two beautiful little grand-daughters! Also very into trying to obtain justice for victims of animal cruelty ( Tiger, Cecil) and victims of injustice that are human, as well. My 3 precious cats! Scunci, Pookie and Clarissa!

Hi Christine, I received Royally Riotous today at around 5 pm, with it being in the high 100’s outside today….and yeah, it came melted. MAC is sending a replacement free of charge. But still. I actually fault UPS because their site wasn’t letting me do it as a pick-up at their site. What a letdown. The color is perfect,too.

What interest do you feel like you spend the most time on?
Thanks! They’re giving me the good meds so it should go okay XD. Lately, probably social justice type things as I can do that via the internet even on my bad pain days. I’m involved in a lot of feminist stuff and the Black Lives Matter movement, and particularly involved in some intersectional feminist stuff (ie women of color, disabled women, LGBT women, transwomen, etc). When that gets too overwhelming/depressing I tend to stay up to date on current astronomy news as I grew up a space geek when my dad worked for NASA.

Haul: Very small haul week! Weirdly though, I still ran out of spending money. Where did it all go? Anyway, I got Wet n Wild Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana, based off of your review! I love it, both as a highlight and applied very subtly as a finishing powder. Totally worth the $4 (or actually $5.50 at Walgreens)! I also got the Bite Limited Lipstick for this month, which was a total impulse buy, but out of all the months so far, I’m so so glad I got this one! It’s totally my kind of shade, yet somehow I don’t have anything similar. Oh! And I also got a swimsuit for my upcoming vacation! It’s really hard to find pretty dress-style swimsuits, or other “modest” styles, but I found a super cute one from Lands End with a black and white floral print!
Weekend plans: I went to the dentist today… my teeth are remarkably healthy (as usual) with the exception of my first ever cavity! D: I’m so sad. I’m getting it filled the Monday after next. So I think I’m going to spend the weekend pouting about it, between going to work.
Other interests: Primarily science and mathematics, as I’m a geology major. I’m also more of an amateur mathematics enthusiast, because I understand advanced math concepts very well, and do well in class, but I get nervous and forgetful on math exams and don’t do well, for which I blame a very mean high school teacher! I also used to knit constantly, but I haven’t done it in a few years, so I have a ton of half finished projects laying around. I also used to read a lot, but again I stopped a few years ago. I had a bad bout of depression in high school, and I lost interest in a lot of things I loved to do, and am only now starting to get them back.

Does quantum mechanics sound intimidating? My interest in it has been driven by my need to know how and why things work, such as the internet and my computer. Also, the way that things that are completely undetectable form reality as we know it is somewhat mind-blowing. =)
I am slowly, like at a snail’s pace, getting this house in order. I did A LOT of home decorating in our last house. We did a major backyard renovation and remodeled the kitchen (I loved that kitchen!) to my specifications, and I we purchased all new furniture and window treatments for that house. I brought what I could with me when we moved and I’m still trying to make it work in this house.
I received most of my decorating/remodeling inspiration from Architectural Digest. The photos are so beautiful that I’ve kept almost all of the magazines as I can’t bare to throw them out!
Oh, yes it totally does (to me)! I greatly admire those with more science-based pursuits for knowledge 🙂
I don’t know if it’s a statement about my style or not, but I’m not so great at the home decor stuff, so I am always looking for tips! Sounds like I need to check out Architectural Digest!
Just think of home decorating the way you think about makeup, it can be changed if you don’t like it! You asked for tips and I didn’t give you any. Here are a few:
Accent your favorite part of a room, either with color (the way you use your teal eyeliner!), lighting, or fabrics. If there is no focal point in the room, bring one in and make it the star. (Like a unique piece of furniture or a piece of artwork.)
Don’t be afraid of color! Paint is temporary. Painting one wall or niches with a darker or more vibrant color can add a lot of character and depth to a room.
Think about the places you’ve visited and how they made you feel. Was there a romantic hotel room that you never wanted to leave? A grand and elegant lobby that made you want to linger? A beach resort that made you feel relaxed and comfortable? Recreate those places in your home!
Don’t be afraid to have different themes throughout your home. In our last house, I had a living room inspired by Italy, a French kitchen, the family room most definitely made you think of India, the guest room had a tropical feel, and our master bedroom was Moroccan. I was able to sneak a Victorian theme into the guest bathroom. =)
Finally, one of the most important things to keep in mind is the size of the room! If you’re buying new furniture, measure out and mark the space for it in your room. You’ll want to make sure the room won’t be overcrowded or that the piece isn’t too small, making it look like the Stonehenge monument in the movie Spinal Tap.
I know you’d do a great job with interior decorating! Just jump in and create something beautiful!

Beauty haul – Good news – Sephora is coming to Melbourne Australia this November – I am so excited. So I am saving up to do major damage then. As I have my birthday in November I think my birthday money will be spent there.
Interests: Reading, my grand daughter Olivia – the light of our lives – she is 17 months old and full of personality. We get to see her frequently because my son and daughter in law live within 10 minutes of our place. Her favourite colour is blue. She loves walking around our house with some of my old jewellery on, a scarf around her waist and trying on my shoes.
I love going to museums and socialising with my friends.
It’s so great that your son, daughter-in-law, and grand daughter are so close. That’s something really special that not everyone gets to have any more!
