- Do you have any summer traditions?: When I was younger, my family almost always went to Lake Tahoe for a week or so. Now, as an adult on my own, we haven’t established any real traditions. We try to go for more walks in the evenings, go swimming, and things like that locally.

Haul: Um…stuff for my new apartment? I got a bedding set from IKEA and I’m getting new sheets today from Home Goods. No makeup stuff, because unfortunately I can’t afford it right now.
Weekend plans: MOVING. And papers.
Summer traditions: Wildfire, a fire spinning convention/camping trip in Connecticut. I’m going in June and August.

Weekend plans: My mom is staying with us while she gets some electrical work done at her place and it’s been so fun! I think we’ll probably watch movies together tonight and have some pizza delivered!
Do you have any summer traditions?: I try to take a vacation every summer, but I haven’t the past 2 years! This summer, my fiance and I have a trip booked the 3rd week of May to Miramar Beach, FL for my birthday and I’m beyond excited!
What movies do you and your mom like to watch together?

Do you have any summer traditions? As a kid, my parents would always take me out of the country every summer. Now that I have my own family, that kinda stuck with me. And, I know my twins are also looking forward to it.

That picture of Mellan just made my day! So adorable!!! This week, I picked up skin care stuff- Cliniderm SPF 45 (my HG summer sun block) and Nuxe Reve de Miel moisturizer. Nothing in the realm of colour this week.

ღ Haul: finally received my NARS shipment from the Pierre Hardy collection. I haven’t had an opportunity to try out the nail polishes–I finally settled on just one set, the Vertebra– but have enjoyed wearing the LE Boys Don’t Cry blush. I was a bit worried the blush would be too intense for my complexion. As it turns out, the blush is super amazing and can be softened a lot with a yachiyo brush. This is a gorgeous shade of blush which I find difficult to describe, on me more of a reddy coral, and more nuanced and less in your face than I expected. So I’m really happy I went ahead and ordered..it’s a really flattering summery blush.

ღ Do you have any summer traditions?: For many years, the cottage was the summer weekend destination along with spending the necessary hours and hours in traffic to get there. In the province of Ontario, Canada, we have a number of extensive lake systems all within very reachable driving distance and going to the cottage/lake is an integral part of our culture.. Now that I run a farm, weekends are no different than weekdays other than we often have company and entertaining is on the agenda.
Sounds quite a bit like my summer traditions, only one province over in Manitoba! Long weekends are ALWAYS spent at the lake. Hopefully Canada warms up enough that i get to swim this year! lol

Bought some new lipsticks… Nars “Tolede”.. A Bite Beauty lipstick (never tried this brand before), a couple of Maybelline Color Whispers and a Neutrogena color stick to try out. I love lip products so this was a good week 🙂
My brother used to visit Lake Tahoe all the time and he loved it there. My family traditions though involved going up north (northern Michigan) to our cabin on a little lake. Very, very good times. Great memories.
Which do you think you’ll wear first, Jen?
Haul: L’Oreal Miracle Blur; I came upon a trial size tube, but I plan to pick up the full size! This stuff seriously works. It’s not 100%, but it diffuses my (large) pores better than any primer I’ve tried, and even helps with the minor redness I have.
Plans: Today, last minute packing for Disneyland on Sunday! Saturday, Sephora @Downtown Disney.
Traaditions: We don’t actually have any Summer traditions… My birthday is at the end of July, and my daughter’s is at the beginning of August, so when she gets a bit older, we may figure out something!
I’ll have to try that! Primers has been a slower category for drugstore brands to nail from what I’ve seen!
It’s not perfect, I’d say 75% improvement, but that’s compared to 40-50% with other brands. It’s not technically a primer, so I don’t know how it would work as far as helping foundation wear better, or on oily skin, but on my drier skin it holds up well. Of course, that may change as it gets hotter…
Good to hear! Will still look out for it. There are certain categories where they’ve made real strides to compete with higher end and then a couple that still are hard to find!

I basically started to go to conventions over the summer as a holiday weekends.

Definitely still Anime North after 10+ years of going to it. It’s a fan run convention and I help out with panels on it as well.

Yeah the first panel I did was kind of scary going tinto it (on cosplay makeup). But i found myself really comforetable doing it rather then public specking. lol
I’ve also run photo shoots for years which basically entails me yelling overcrowds the next pose and try to get a much into a 1hour time slot for a large group. lol

Haul: Nothing beauty related, but I’ve been hauling shoes like a crazy person. Mostly running shoes, but also some flats for summer.
Weekend plans: Get up really early tomorrow to run, do some grocery shopping, laundry and house cleaning. Just regular boring stuff, lol.
Do you have any summer traditions?: I always used to go on summer vacations with both my parents and my grandparents as a kid. Now that I’m older and live by myself I don’t have any traditions at all.

I just bought mint green flats last week that I loveeee.
Haul: Pieces from the new Illamasqua collection, some of the new summer stuff from L’Oreal and a couple items from MAC here and there (just stuff I was out of like an eyeshadow here and a moisturizer there…)
Weekend plans: I seem to have yet another head cold (though to be honest I can’t tell the difference lately between a head cold and allergies) :/ I just want that to be done and over with so I can feel better and get outside in the sunshine we’re having right now! 🙂
Do you have any summer traditions?: Outside, outside, outside. Our summer is only a few weeks long so I try to get outside as much as possible 🙂

Haul: Bliss Daily Detoxifying Facial Toner, theBalm Schwing Matte Liquid Eyeliner, Estee Lauder Blush in Lover’s Blush (I think I read about this on the blog), Estee Lauder County Mist Foundation (I bought this because I think it is discontinued and I liked the bottle, which is a totally dumb reason) Guerlain Parure De Lumiere Foundation (another blog suggestion I believe).
Weekend plans: Pack for a two week work conference, which will be lame but it is at a beautiful spot.
Do you have any summer traditions?: Just before every summer, these last few years, I promise myself that I will make the most of it. And every fall I wonder what happened to my big plans. This year is going to be different!!! (Which is what I say every year). So that’s a tradition I guess:)
Hopefully the foundation works out to be good, though 🙂

Do you have any summer traditions? Not really anymore. We used to go to Britany quite often when my sister and I were young, and I went there the past two summers. My stepmother has invited my sister and I to go to Portugal to visit her family with her and my dad, and her youngest son this summer! I don’t know yet if we’ll be able to make it, but it might become a new tradition, since, she and my dad went there last year too, for their first summer together!
I’m very lucky that he just likes to nibble at them and shake them but not destroy!

I think the only thing I bought this week (not counting shampoo) was the Guerlain Les Fumes quad which is so wonderful and it’s made even more wonderful by the fact that I got it for free with my SDM points.
Yikes – forgot to answer the other 2 questions (that’s how excited I am by my new eye shadow!)
Weekend plans: I hope we have time to do some work on the weeds that are threatening to take over the flower beds but beyond that, it’s just yoga and the gym and also a luncheon fundraiser (I’m taking my mother-in-law as well) on Sunday. The weather has been so glorious here that I also really want to find a nice outdoor patio place either for a drink or for dinner on Saturday evening.
Summer traditions: when I was little, it was up on the lake, fishing with my daddy. When my own kids were growing up, we would meet up with 3 other couples from university days and all the kids and all the dogs for a great “pot luck” picnic at one of the local Conservation Areas. It was also such fun. The kids are grown and the dogs have all passed on now but the adults still like to get together in somewhat less rugged surroundings for a bbq or dinner together.
Now you make me want it! I’m pretty sure I don’t have that one!

Summer traditions: When I was a kid we used to go down the shore (NJ phrasing for going to the beach) every year, but now I live across the country and we don’t have any summer traditions really.

Haul: I went to my local Chanel counter and they had the summer collection, so I splurged! I got one of the eyeshadow “pens” in Moon River, Azure nail polish and the deep blue mascara. I also got 2 glossimers in Mica and Amour. My favorite thing of the week arrived in the mail today as well – a Color Club polish in Harp On It. It is a silvery- rainbow color and is so beautiful.
Weekend Plans: I am heading to the zoo tomorrow (in the rain!) to see the sloth. Also, planning on seeing Iron Man.
Summer Traditions: Watching baseball and yelling at the television. If only the players could hear me – we’d have a few World Series wins! 🙂

Summer is purely for going with the flow! As a kid, I had the obligatory family trips South to the grandparents and extended family. My birthday is July 6 so I always have a pre birthday celebration on the 4th with family and friends. I splurge, indulge myself (and eat more cake) on my actual bday.

summer traditions-the only tradition I had (when I was a teenager )in my family were weekends of working ( in the garden, planting, or mowing grass ) I don’t wish to duplicate them- except for the vegetable planting-which I like, and the harvesting-which I love. I would rather have fun vacation time with my kids by spending at least part of the summer in a foreign country.

What vegetables do you usually plant? Shaun thought about tomatoes but we don’t have a very green thumb!

Most exciting day!!! Haul from the Grand opening of a Sephora store inside JCP!! This is the FIRST Sephora store in my state! The closest one before was 1 1/2 hours away. My daughter and I got in line an hour before the store opened. We got a Free goodie bag with samples and $5.00 gift card! I also had a 10% off VIB card. Bought myself a Mother’s day gift (perfume) an UD eyeliner in Whiskey and an eyeshadow pencil in Sin, Tarte lipstick in Bold and lip tint in Glisten. Plus it was triple VIB points if you purchased a fragrance (which I had on my list anyway!). I also bought some things for my daughter-tinted moisturizer and a Sephora natural eyeshadow kit.. Good thing we had the gift card and 10% off! I’m so thrilled to actually be able to go to a store and try out the make up before I buy it.

Haul: I broke my no-buy after only a few days to buy Illamasqua nail polish on sale for $4. I got Baptiste, Viridian, and Vice. Then I returned for a back-up of Viridian. It worked out because May is my birth month, and I got the Sephora gift too! This year it was deluxe samples of Benefit “Watts Up” and “They’re Real.” Pretty nice!
Plans: Well, I would LIKE to go to the May Day Parade, but I won’t if it’s SNOWED OUT! It was snowing this morning, people. In May. GRRRRR! At least next weekend I’ll be with family in Atlanta, where spring is awesome and full of flowers.
Summer traditions: Fun question! I love summer. I love summer fairs and street festivals, including the Minnesota State Fair and Renn Fest. I like putting together a picnic to eat with my friends while we wait for the fireworks on the 4th of July. Another sort of tradition is that when the weather warms up, I start keeping iced tea in the fridge.

Hauled a bunch of urban decay that was on sale. A bunch of palettes, deluxe eye shadows, and lip glosses. Some bare future birthday gifts and some are just a lil old me

Haul: Absolutely nothing. On the bright side, only one more week until my three month no-buy is over, and I can start buying non-basic cosmetics again. 😀 It was tough to swallow missing out on some of those LE products, but I’m glad to know I can still exhibit some form of discipline when necessary. 😛
Weekend Plans: Studying, working, call my sister and catch up with her regarding the move. Also, I need to spend some time with my mother. She’s still coming to terms with the fact that her youngest daughter is now 1000+ miles away from all of us. 🙁
Summer Traditions: The state I live in has only a few major urban areas, while the rest of it is very rural and mountainous. When I was very young (and gas was $0.98/gallon *sob*), my mother used to take us on long country drives where we would just drive around for hours and hours through the scenic areas. It always ended with us getting ice cream on the way back home. 🙂 Later in my youth, my parents separated, inflation increased, and that tradition became financially unfeasible. I’m thinking now that my sister’s in Floriday that a yearly visit is bound to become tradition, but it’s more likely we’ll go in the winter months, since the South is utterly miserable in the summer season.
LOL! You know, I actually made him stay still for like, five photos. I bury Mellan with all his toys sometimes. He is oddly… not bothered by it!

I spent ten years in Virginia as a child, so I have to say I got more than enough summer humidity while I was there. My sister’s attempts to lure me down by extoling virtues of the beach fails to inspire any great longing in me for the inevitable frizzy hair and sunburn to follow. 😛

Summer traditions: BBQ at a park or beach. Shopping at farmers markets. And attending the local fair.

Do you have any summer traditions?: Farmer’s Market is out in force. It becomes a weekend staple of the season. My father becomes a concert junkie and persistently seeks out ones that fall on days the gentleman has off (the men in my life are awesome). Way, way more time at the library and scouring all the shelves for new books.

OOOhh Christine! From age 3 to 18, my family went on a trip to Tahoe every summer, usually the South Shore! My sister got married on an isolated beach on the North Shore when I was 19. 😉 The last time we went all together, in 2004, it was SO CROWDED and I got Legionnaire’s Disease (it was more like an illness; I got better after about 2 weeks, LOL.) OH how I miss the old Harvey’s, especially Top o’ the Wheel with all the tikis; Zephyr Cove; Emerald Bay; the Roundhill Mall; Donner Summit; the FREEZING but pristinely clean lake, the Harvey’s AM buffet; the basement arcard in Harrah’s; driving the switchback all the way up to the summit, then driving down; the lush green of Emigrant Meadow right before you came through the final stretch; the quartz-filled rocks we used to smuggle home from “our” beach (they’re still in my parents’ backyard)….ALL of it! I’m trying to remember the name of the beach we went to every year in Zephyr Cove; it’s on the tip of my tongue but I just can’t do it. Lake Tahoe is STILL the most beautiful place I’ve seen on Earth. I’m starting to get all verklempt now, with the nostalgia! I hope you have a GREAT time, sweetie!

We always went to South Lake Tahoe, too! 🙂 We would always stay on the California side, too. It was a good alternative to Vegas when we were younger! We were ALLLL u in the arcades at Harvey’s and Harrahs.
We went three or four years ago, and Shaun came along – we did jet skiing and parasailing!

Weekend Plans: going to a Columbus Crew game with my brothers today, and then going for a run later. Planning on just relaxing tomorrow.
Summer Traditions: we usually always go to Montauk, NY and NYC every summer (its where my mom is originally from so it feels more like home than ohio haha). But we haven’t been in the past few years because of college end dates, new careers, and whatnot.
