Formula X Spectrum Nail Lacquer
Formula X Spectrum Nail Lacquer ($12.50 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “red + gold micro-glitter in sheer crimson.” It’s a cool-toned, medium pinky-red with flecks of gold sparkle. It was mostly opaque after two coats, and the consistency was a little thin but not enough to impact the application negatively. This has gold sparkle, as compared to the cooler-toned, pinky-white sparkle of Solar Flare, but they were still very close. Zoya Bobbi (P, $9.00) is more shimmery, more muted. L’Oreal The Queen’s Might (LE) is redder, warmer. China Glaze 108 Degrees (LE, $7.50) is darker, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.
Formula X Solar Flare Nail Lacquer ($12.50 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “pink micro-glitter in sheer strawberry.” It’s a vibrant, pink-shimmered, pinky-red with a pearly, metallic finish and a glossy shine. It was fully opaque after two coats, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin and covered smoothly and evenly. Zoya Bobbi (P, $9.00) is more shimmery, pinker. L’Oreal The Queen’s Might (LE) is less shimmery. China Glaze 108 Degrees (LE, $7.50) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.
Formula X Astrolady Nail Lacquer ($12.50 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “pink + gold textured glitter.” It’s a light-medium, cool-toned pink with warm, golden sparkle and glitter. The finish is mostly matte, textured, and glittery. It had opaque color coverage with two coats of polish, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin. It feels fairly bumpy/textured, so depending on your preference, you might want a couple of layers of top coat (which will also make it shiny). I don’t have anything like this in my stash that I can recall, due to that textured finish, so no dupes to recommend.

Astrolady would look really nice with one of the other two and an accent nail
I could see that working!
Spectrum looked so festive in the bottle, I’m not sure if I’m happy or disappointed.
LOL!
Spectrum looks lovely!
I know a lot people find them boring, but I love red nail polish. It’s a colour I love no matter what my mood or the time of year.
I love really sparkly reds 😀
These are all really nice! I love Astrolady!
Yay!
I love astrolady-so unique!
It is!
Spectrum and Solar Flare beautiful but are so close.
The 3rd one look looks liquid sand.
I tested a gradient nails with shimmery recentlly, and i adooOOOooore it!!!
I used Guerlain’s Stardust as base, then add Guerlain’s Jardin de bagatelle as gradient.
The resulte is amazing ! I looove it sooo much !!!
I toped it with the Dior’s gel coat.
But i’ll buy the Guerlain’s top coat next time to match with G’s nail polishes,
cause i feel there are not lasting as long à si expected, and it must be due to the Dior’s top.
The microshimmers are sooo beautiful. The gradiance effect of this 2 G nail polishes is just perfection !!!
Guess with those shimmery FX nail polishes you can also do some pretty gradiant nails!
Xoxo
Sounds very pretty, Ylona!
Spectrum and Solar Flare are really gorgeous! And I love the astrology theme 🙂
Me too! I loved the names.
Astrolady is so pretty!! I don’t typically go for shades like Solar Flare but I like that one too!
I loved Solar Flare!
I’m loving the look of Spectrum. So far, I only own one Formula X polish – Centigrade, a dark blue leaning a bit toward purple. They have so many tempting colors.
Right? The range is HUGE!
Spectrum and Solar Flare are pretty!
Agreed!
I love Astrolady! I definitely don’t have anything like it.
Always a plus 😉
Very nice colors for spring!
Very true 🙂
Aww, I was hoping Spectrum would look more like it does in the bottle. Ah well. Astrolady is a must-buy for me, though!
I was surprised at how much lighter it appeared on!
Spectrum would be beautiful on everyone! I like Astrolady too but I’m thinking it’ll be difficult to remove being a textured glitter polish. What do you say Christine?
I don’t have too much trouble with the textured glitter polishes! More work than a cream, but less work than some of the other glitters!
I like Spectrum the most!
Yay!
Astrolady!!! <3
It’s a fun shade!
So…pretty…
So…sparkly…
Want…more…sparkle…polishessss… *collapses* 😀
More lucidly: there might be a kind of a sort of a dupe in OPI Pussy Galore for Astrolady? I think the Pussy Galore polish is probably a bit more of a baby/powder pink, but it is shimmery/sparkly, light pink and textured… was LE though I guess… 🙁
Ooh, good to know. LE but better than nothing… Not sure how quickly OPI sells out, but I know for some other brands, LE polish sticks around.
Omg I love Spectrum! Such a shame the UK can’t get Formula X Sephora cant ship nail varnishes to the UK :(.
Boo postal regulations! 🙁
Wow.. These Formula X polishes are all looking amazing! I think I will need to start buying some!
They’re a new fave for me!
I’m loving Solar Flare!
I love how shiny it is!
Uuuuh Astrolady calls my name *o*/ uuuu i’m coming!!
Hope you love it ;D
