Estee Lauder Spring 2011 Collection: Wild Violet

Pure energy that pulsates sultry sophistication is the inspiration behind the new vision in color by Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux for Spring 2011. The Wild Violet Pure Color Makeup Collection is a dynamic collection of high-performance makeup and fragrance products to highlight the spring season with a burst of enthusiastic color.

In this intensely vivacious collection, lips delight in shades of electric orange, brazen cherry and violet plum, eyes are smoldering in muted neutrals with wisps of purple for maximum depth and attention while nails are rich and smokey in a modern charcoal. Adding to the collection, a vivid, lush fragrance that has a first impression of Genet Flower, Mandarin, Purple Freesia, Blue Jasmine and Wild Gardenia to create a lively experience and then Amberwood is blended in to complete scent with an energetic, multi-sensorial vibrancy.

Lipsticks could be cool, I love the one the model is wearing! But tbh Estee Lauder always turns me off, along with Bobbi Brown…their make up always seems matronly even if it’s in fun colours. I rather get a similiar shade from a brand that I can relate to, like NARS or Illamasqua. Is that weird? Do you choose your make up based on a brand’s image?

I agree, I’d much rather buy makeup from a brand whose image I feel applies to me. Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Clinique sometimes, Fashion Fair… all have a “mature” (and decidedly unhip) image

The model is gorgeous!! The colors look really pretty. The packaging is such a turn off for me. It just screams “grandma”. I would love it if EL gave their packaging a makeover!!

This is their NEW packaging! They just hired Tom Pecheaux (major fashion show and editorial makeup artist) to be the creative force behind their freshly redesigned makeup line. I AM SO TIRED OF PEOPLE SAYING ESTEE LAUDER IS “GRANDMA”! What does that really mean? It’s so hateful. If it’s not young then of course it can’t be hip and desirable? Be sure to pass that information along to Carmen and IMAN. Two of the most beautiful and not teenage woman I know. If Estee Lauder was so old fashioned then why did they buy MAC? The complete polar opposite of their namesake brand? I would say that was a company makeover. Why compete when you can just buy them out? That requires a lot of money which “Grandma” Estee has and something that is very helpful when it comes to being hip.

Am I the only person who noticed that EL, Chanel and Dior have all come up with nail polishes that are grey-toned for their Spring 2011 collection? I’m not complaining though, I loveee grey nail polishes. 🙂

OMG, a model that looks vaguely like I do! (Well, she’s about a hundred times more beautiful.) A look I can copy without having to adapt it to my eyes… be still, my heart! 😀 This makes me super happy.

estee lauder is amazing for quality & value. i’m betting most of the people who think of it as “old lady” haven’t seen much of the stuff put out in the past 3-4 yrs. gorgeous turquoise & purple liquid shadows every bit as bright as UD electric & ransom, huge selection of high colored lipsticks & glosses. they do fabulous blues, silvers, purples, a highlighter very similar to touche eclat, the whole doublewear line is now huge
