Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in Plum Fizz

Estee Lauder Plum Fizz Pure Color Crystal Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a plummy red which turns more red than plum on my lips. It’s semi-sheer and has a glossiness to its finish. It looks more like a lip stain than a lipstick, because it is thin but provides decent color.

my thoughts on the formula: Pure Color Crystal lipsticks have a semi-sheer coverage. They have a slight glossiness and are very lightweight. I get three to four hours of wear–about average–from this particular formula. Estee Lauder’s lipsticks are scented with a lightly sweetened fig but are taste-free to me.

  • Product: 27/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

final thoughts: This shade should complement most skin tones, because it is not too cool or warm, and it is light enough that it’s not vampy, but opaque enough to give significant color.

Sorry for the wonky face here… I was about to sneeze, and of course, THIS was the only photo of the three full face photos that turned out well.

I know you said it was a wonky face photo, but I would love to know what you are wearing (foundation, powder, blush). Your skin has a beautiful soft look to it in this photo. Very ‘naked face but better’ kind of look.

Whoa…. what a surprise…. looking at that lipstick in the tube i could have sworn it was going to be intensebut its really sheer. It looks good on you but i wouldnt buy it.

Hi Christine! I love the sheer lipstain effect this has. Do you know of any good sheer lipstains that won’t transfer? I’d looove to find something I can wear for color without my boyfriend complaining about stickiness LOL. Thanks.

Pretty! :3 I thought it would be opaque though!
But ARGH!! Estee Lauder lipsticks are much more expensive where I live in Sweden.
270 SEK, coinmill.com says that’s approximately $41.50 while my phone says it’s approximately $37.60 so I dunno what to believe…

I love, love, LOVE this lipstick, and just for the reasons you stated (not too intense, but gives great color, not too cool, not too warm). This was my ‘go to’ color when I worked for Lauder (that and ‘Hot Kiss’), and I love how you could manipulate the color w/ a lip liner. Want it a bit more berry toned? Use a cooler lip liner. Want to bring out the chocolate tones? Use a brown-based liner.

Oh wow on my desktop and laptop the colors look completely different. Probably because my desktop screen monitor is brighter? It looks like a tomato-y, corally red while Raisin is a brighter brown red with pink (Imperial looks virtually identical to Raisin). On my laptop Raisin is a deep brown red and Plum Fizz is very brown with a red undertone. Which is more accurate? lol 🙁

pretty color on you. makes me think of spring. much more pink on the lips than expected– looks so different than the tube or even swatch. Thought I had this one but not unless its drastically different on me. I usually love their plums and berries which tend to be more on the warm burgundy-wine tone. my absolute fav is rich currant. I wonder if this gets deeper or brighter if you layer it.

They seem to be revamping the whole Pure Color Crystal lipstick line, and Plum Fizz is not available at counters anywhere in Canada. I think this looks completely gorgeous on you, and others must have thought so, too, because it sold out online at EL a few days after you posted. Bought from an online discounter – hope it looks half as nice on me!
