Estee Lauder Insatiable Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Estee Lauder Insatiable Nail Lacquer
An Insatiable Purple for Spring
Estee Lauder Insatiable Nail Lacquer ($20.00 for 0.30 fl. oz.) is a muted, gray-purple with a cream finish. Zoya Lotus is warmer, pinker, and has shimmer. Cult Nails My Kind of Cool Aid is much, much lighter and has sparkle. Rescue Beauty Lounge Insouciant is lighter, less gray. None of these, however, were close enough to be considered dupes–I just wanted to walk you through the potentials I considered but nothing came close. (I heartily invite you to chime in if you know of a dupe!)
I always love it when I come across a shade that I don’t quite have (and that’s not to say there aren’t dupes in existence, merely that I don’t know of any and hopefully, that means it is at the very least not easily duped!). It’s a very stormy, cool-toned, rainy-day kind of purple, which is why it’s a bit different from other shades. It doesn’t have strong pink or red in its base, and when it comes to muted purples, the ones I’ve swatched have had more obvious pink/red underpinnings. Insatiable was opaque in two coats, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin. It applied evenly, fluidly, and didn’t bubble, streak, or pool along the edges. I typically get a full week out of Estee Lauder’s lacquer formula and only have very minor tip wear. I only wish the bottle contained more product–it seems large but the container itself is deceptively small.

Gorgeous! And even though you get a small amount, I love their bottle.
Gorgeous!
It’s so different in the container than it is on the nails! I love it!
Hi Christine,
This comment isn’t specific to this post… but is for all products that “Temptalia Recommends” with an A+. Is there a section of the blog I can go to and see all posts under the ‘Temptalia Recommends’ category?
Thanks!
Hi Nina!
Right now, we don’t have anything set-up for posts with it (and it’s fairly new, so there aren’t too many), but we’re working on it. It’s definitely not just for A+ products, though the majority will have higher grades. You can review all A+ reviews by clicking “Reviews by Rating” in the side bar! Thanks!
Great, thanks for letting me know!
Hi Christine, this is unreleated to makeup, but about your sleeping problem, I’ve been working out for 40 min to an hour everyday for the past 3 weeks, and I am sleeping a lot better, I fall asleep right away, and usually since I was a little girl, sleeping for me has been an issue. I hope this help, try it and you will feel how it works.
Thanks for the advice, Fabiola! I know when I was working out regularly (playing tennis for about 45-60 minutes six days a week) that my sleeping didn’t improve 🙁 I will admit that I’m not presently doing much in the way of working out at the moment, though, LOL!
If you can disregard the first comment, I accidentally hit submit before I was done typing!
I remember you don’t get along with melatonin, which can help me if I’m jazzed up.
But I have another idea that often works for me, as long as it wouldn’t bother Shaun–finding some sort of white noise to kind of lull you to sleep. For some people, this is literally white noise and they have machine for it. I’ve got an alarm clock that can be set to also lull you to sleep with nature sounds. What personally works for me is books on tape and/or podcasts. It’s actually bad, because for things I like, I have to listen to the same things over and over because I pass out partway through them! 🙂
Hey Quinctia!
My big problem is staying asleep – like I fall asleep in 10-20 minutes usually. I mean sure, there are times when it’s 30 minutes or hours, but usually, 10-20 minutes. I just wake up every couple of hours! I do fall back asleep fairly quickly (10 minutes), but I never feel rested and I think it’s because I am waking up too often. I have an instrumental sleep CD that I put on before I go to bed and it just repeats throughout the night right now 🙂
Thank you!
Have you ever been tested for sleep apnea? I know several people that didn’t think it was possible that they had it and found out that they did. Might be something to discuss with your doctor just in case…especially since you say you wake up often and don’t feel rested.
Hi Kesha,
I’ve talked with my doctor about it, but she did not think it was necessary to be tested for that. From what I read on it, I don’t think I suffer from that extreme level of tiredness/fatigue!
Oh oh oh I have to have this.
Gorgeous.
Hmmmm…the closest thing I have in my collection might be Butter London Scoundrel. It looks like a possible dupe when comparing it to your pics and glancing at Scoundrel currently on my toes lol
Gorgeous colour but to me it looks more like shade for autumn. Personally I’m ready for bright spring/summer colours.
I think it looks a LOT like Color Club’s Rad Nomad!
I love it!
Lovely! I agree it looks closest to RBL’s Insouciant, one of my all time faves, although darker and without Insouciant’s subtle blue shimmer.
Oh wow, I love LOVE this color. I must check and see if I have anything similar, because the price is just too high for me. Zoya Kelly has a similar feel, but I think it’s significantly more blue and less purple.
This has got to be THE most gorgeous dusty-purple I have EVER seen! I NEED this polish!!!
Oh wow, it looked so much lighter in the jar! Must be how the lighting hits it. Very pretty. I love dusky purples.
Oooh, what a great purple! /happy flails
Wow…this color looks amazing. The stormy tone makes it more chic. A nice departure from the usual spring fare. Love it.
Very pretty, but $20 for 0.30 fl. oz? Ouch. I would’ve expected the standard 0.50 for the price
This is gorgeous! Such a unique shade, and a little different for spring.
this looks pretty similar to zoya petra to me, has that dusty purple quality 🙂
WOW. Not what I was expecting at all!
That is beautiful – one of the prettiest shades of purple I’ve ever seen.
In europe we have a brand called “Essence” and they have a sort of duo nailpolish. One of them looks a lot like this one, maybe a slightly darker one! It’s called ‘boys are back in town’. See this website for swatches. http://www.beautyscene.nl/p/71595/nieuw_-_essence_nail_colour_3_swatches . Unfortunaly they’re on sale now and dont come back, too bad, the price was 3 euros! Bargain!
This looks just like my all-time fave polish Parlez-Vous OPI. It’s been discontinued for a few years and it goes for a least 3x retail on eBay. I’m definitely going to check this out, thanks for the great review Christine!
Oh wow from the first photo I thought it looked a lot like Zoya Marley but on nails is SO much darker. Hm… can’t think of anything either! 🙂
The color is beautiful, I think I will be purchasing this.
Beautiful grey-purple shade, I love purples
That’s a great color. When I purchased Essie’s Chinchilly I was looking for more of a purple shade; looks like I found it!
I really love this color but after looking at your swatches, I realized Zoya’s Caitlin may be a dupe!
