Dolce & Gabbana Desert Bronzing Powder Review, Photos, Swatches

Dolce & Gabbana Desert Bronzing Powder

Dolce & Gabbana Desert Bronzing Powder ($68.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a slightly muted, medium brown with warm, yellow undertones and a satin finish. Urban Decay Naked on the Run Bronzer (LE) is lighter. MAC Matte Bronze (LE, $70.00) is less yellow. Tarte Park Ave. Princess (P, $29.00) is darker. MAC Love, Rihanna (LE, $25.00) is warmer. Wet ‘n’ Wild Bikini Contest (P, $3.99) is darker. MAC Soft Sand (LE, $25.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The version pictured in the post is the Collector’s Edition, though the color itself is available year-round in the permanent collection (without the red lacquered case and design on the powder itself) for $51. I believe the permanent version has no shimmer overlay, as the Collector’s Edition had a ton of bronzy shimmer (which I did my best to remove prior to swatching) on about half to two-thirds of the surface of the powder. It’s not too yellow or orange, but it is likely a better fit for warmer skin tones. The texture is soft and finely-milled but somewhat powdery, and it tended to sheer out more readily as a result. It had buildable coverage, but I felt like you had to be careful not to blend it too much or else it would disappear. It lasted for six and a half hours, which is on the shorter side for face products on my normal skin.

Desert

PPermanent. $51.00.

I’m a Latin student and if make-up by Dolce & Gabbana was sold here in Austria, I just would have to buy this bronzer simply because the pattern on it looks like a Roman coin!
Carpe diem, Christine! 😀

The packaging is very pretty and elegant, love the Roman stamp design on it. But this color is better suited for warmer, medium skin tones than mine. It’s too bad about the formula and application. At this price point, it has to perform better

I thought it looks super promising, but I guess it’s not the best bronzer ever 😉 I do like how it looks on you, but I prefer a bronzer that I don’t have to blend like a maniac because it’s too dark nor carefully layer because it sheers out too much. Still, that pattern is nice to look at!

Thanks for the review. This is weird because I have the regular Desert version and it doesn’t have the yellow undertones. It’s described as medium tan with pink undertone, and I think it does have a pink undertone to it. This version looks way different. I may have to re-swatch mine to see if it has been lacking pink undertones all this time (and has yellow instead). I think I may have noticed but I haven’t used the Desert bronzer in months now.

Cute shirt! That neck line is perfect for you.

I don’t understand stuff like this. It’s so expensive for one product that doesn’t even perform well? Meh.

I am totally enamoured with the packaging but since I’m not one of those people who would buy products just to collect I don’t see the point if the buying it. It is still ever so pretty.
