Dolce & Gabbana and Monica Bellucci
Dolce & Gabbana and Monica Bellucci
A long time personal friend of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Monica is the symbol of the Italian beauty of our time, personifying passion, voluptuous sensuality and breathtaking beauty in films such as “The Matrix – Reloaded”, “The Passion of the Christ” and “Don’t Look Back”, as well as French language films such as “L’Appartement”, for which she was nominated to the César Awards.
As admirers of Monica’s beauty and carefree sensuality, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana found it only fitting to celebrate her remarkable magnetism with her very own limited edition Dolce & Gabbana Make Up collection, The Monica Lipstick Collection, launching in stores in May 12.
With her famed fulsome lips, impeccable complexion and daring, expressive eyes she exudes the irony, mystery and charm that comprises the very essence of the Dolce & Gabbana woman.
“We love Monica and have worked with her many times over the past 20 years. Her beauty is timeless,” says Domenico Dolce. “She expresses perfectly the Dolce & Gabbana woman,” adds Stefano Gabbana, “She is ravishing – a true Italian icon.”
“I’m delighted to be collaborating with Domenico and Stefano on Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up,” says Monica. “I have always adored the aesthetic of Dolce & Gabbana and it’s so exciting to be involved with their creative process.”
the model’s lipstick looks similar to Angelina Jolie’s at the award show a while back. Could it be?
i’m excited, she’s really ravishing!,.
she’s such a beautiful woman and the makeup is lovely but i am disheartened that even makeup ads are now resorting to “sex” to sell. i think if this were really a makeup ad, they should crop some of the bottom half of the picture away.
It’s interesting that, although this lovely picture is heavily photoshopped (but no more than any modern beauty ad), the one thing they didn’t photoshop aggressively was her lips. I’m so used to seeing seamless, smooth puffed-up lips with high reflectivity but no texture. Her lips seem very natural in this picture; well, natural for Monica Belluci, who happens to have full, luscious lips.
It’s a neat way of drawing the eye to the lipstick — by making her lips the “realest” thing in the picture. Well, that and putting them at the center of the photograph. I like this picture; I think it’s one of the more successful beauty ads I’ve seen in a while.
*Nitpicking alert: I hate the photoshopping on her nails: artificially extending the nailbed over the cuticle. It looks so ridiculously fake. Why do so many ads do this? What in heaven’s name is wrong with women having cuticles?! /end rant
Cannot wait….Dolce and Gabbana is my favorite lipstick at this moment…bought Tom Ford lipstick and it couldnt even compare…and Dolce and Gabanna’s lipstick is “affordable” when compared to some of the luxury brands. Just wish they could improve on the blushers and the eyeshadows and eyeliners.
This image is gorgeous! I wonder what else the make up artists used on her here… I would especially love to know what that nail polish is!
I really love that they use her in their ads, shes comes across as so effortlessly beautiful in many shots. Would prefer to see much less photoshop use because of this. Also love that she is a more mature woman, makes me want to look for this lipstick.
What happen to Monica Bellucci and Dior?
Ma quanto sei affascinante! Can’t wait for this one 🙂
She is stunning. That lipstick looks beautiful.
Christine! Hi! Hey I don’t have any idea if you read comments in older posts but I was wondering if you are going to post more information about this collection.
