i tan ridiculously easily even after slathering on the sunscreen. Leave me outside here in sunny SoCal for 20 minutes and I’ll already have flip flop tan lines on my feet and a sweet farmer’s tan started, LOL! On top of that my skin retains the color pretty well (no peeling or anything like that), so I generally don’t have a need for bronzer.

Mirna Avatar

Those are my same sentiments Christina. I am NC40 so I think my skin tone is prone to tan easily. I am actually just learning how to wear bronzer. I do like how bronzer can be used as a contouring agent.

Samantha Avatar

I hate bronzer! I never wear it; I like my porcelain skin and accentuate my paleness. There are tooooooo many orange girls who tan too much and will look leathery and disgusting when they’re older 😛

Although I do like the bronzed look; if done correctly. If a girl has olive toned skin she should accentuate that; but I would look stupid!

Musingonbeauty Avatar

Yes! In the Winter I use a very cold one as a contour color, in Summer I can go wild with warmer bronzers on top of my fake-tan (don’t worry, I’m not looking orange). My current favourite is Chanel Bronze Universel.

I wear them pretty much every day, but I only use subtle ones (TooFaced Snow Bunny or Hard Candy’s Tiki) since I’m pale. The combination of using a fair bronzer, a duo fibre brush and a light hand makes me look lightly sunkissed rather than bronzed so it looks good year round.

Ladybug Avatar

Yes, I wear bronzer to work everyday. Could not live without it. I kind of have a round-ish face and I need to use bronzer to contour my face. I use Nars Laguna….a definite must-have!

lina Avatar

yes, most of the time.
i really like dior’s bronzer because it’s not too shimmery…
i also like guerlain’s as well as mac’s shadester (more so for contouring purposes though) 🙂

Linda Avatar

Nope never, i’m very very pale and blessed with good skin (well i’ve some dryness and enlarged pores) so i like to keep my canvas as pale as possible as i think thats what looks best on me. Plus bronzers just look weird on me could never find a natural one and am always afraid to look like an oompa lumpa lol.

Carrie Avatar

I tend to only wear bronzer as a blush, too. Sometimes I’ll put it on my cheeks and then dust what’s left on the brush on my forehead, chin, etc. I love the ones Benefit makes, especially Dallas. It’s such a gorgeous color. I think it’s meant to be used as either a blush or bronzing powder and it gives you a pretty, sunkissed look.

Catherine Avatar

I used to wear bronzer everyday back before I was really into makeup and was wearing BE Warmth. Then I realized I was mildly allergic to it and spent a long time trying to find a new bronzer. During this time I got into blush. Now I’ve just recently found a new bronzer – tokidoki’s Diavolina (a tad lighter and a good bit less red than NARS Laguna, and more shimmery, but less sparkly and more soft-focus glow from normal viewing distance). Since it’s been a while since I’ve been wearing bronzer (… like 3 years!) I’m still not reaching for it everyday but I’ve been trying to wear it once or twice a week.

pakasa87 Avatar

i never used to wear any .. till i found the nars multiple in tuomota ! its the perfect matte golden tan colour for my light skin … never orange and never over done … i usually just use it to contour.

Melanie T Avatar

I love bronzing! Just because my current foundation is a shade too light for me ~! I use MAC’s Springshine Blush Ombre to counter the “fairness”, define the hollows of my cheekbones and just to frame my face. This will gradually allow the colour to blend into my neck, hence, making my foundation shine through, just like natural highlight~!

Rita Avatar

I think I’m like Christine when it comes to wearing a bronzer. But what exactly is a bronzer – a product named “bronzer” or any blush-like product in the right shade?

condesa Avatar

hi! yes I do! all year long, as I am super pale, I need to add a touch of glow to my face in winter. More in summer (i also opt for warmer shades in summer as I tan). My favourite bronzers are Lancome (love the Tropiques minerale line) and Chanel… I’m never without.

Ember Avatar

Christine, you’re so brave in the colours you wear. After reading some bronzer reviews here I bought the MAC bronzer in refinded golden to give it a try. I can see myself wearing this as a bronzer or as a blush, albeit with a careful application.

Jillian Avatar

Always. I”m very cool toned (and pale) so i sweep it very gently in the “3B” method just to give me a bit of color. I also use it to contour my non existent cheekbones!

My favorites are Benefit Hoola, NARS Laguna, and MAC Harmony

Anna Clara Avatar

I wear bronzer only on special ocasions, but it is a must for me, ’cause I use it to make highlights and shadow effects, what help’s A LOT on photos. When I wear it on normal days, it’s just as a blush, to vary from the pinks.

lexi Avatar

I agree with Christine – I tend to wear them as blush. Also, I am pale – NC20, but I have a bit of a ruddy undertone, so I have to be careful with which one I choose.

Emily Avatar

I’m super pale…NC15…so I don’t wear bronzer. I find if I want that bronzer-type-effect I can generally put on a blush with a bit of orange or gold somewhere in and that does the trick.

Hannah Avatar

I just recently bought the Benefit Legally Bronze set which comes with Hoola bronzer. Before this purchase, I have never owned a bronzer since I have very fair skin that tends to turn very red. Since I bought it, I’ve been trying to contour with Hoola, but I just can’t get the hang of it. I think it is because my skin has so many red undertones, that the bronzer just looks weird and muddy. Any tips?

Allison Avatar

I adore hoola– wear it every single day! Maybe you could use a fluffier brush for lighter apllication until you get used to seeing a little color. I use a smaller brush to contour my cheeck bones and a fluffier one to add warmth to the rest of my face where the sun would naturally hit.

denise Avatar

Yes! My staple for contouring is nars laguna then top with a blush. But if i want to use it also as a blusher, my absolute favorite is the Guerlain terracota light in brunette. Absolutely gorgeous!

Sharday Avatar

I typically wear bronzer during the summer months. I love having a glow to my face during the summer! I’m still trying to find my staple bronzer but I when I wear bronzer, it is either the IMAN bronzer or MAC.

Anitacska Avatar

Hardly ever. If I do, I mostly use it as a blush. Of course that doesn’t stop me from buying them, lol, I just had to order the new Guerlain Terracotta Blonde bronzer (the limited edition one with the 5 colours). 🙂

LNU Avatar

I never wear bronzer, lol! The closest I ever got is X-Rocks blush from Neo Sci-Fi which I use sometimes in the summer instead of my fave Mocha Blush.

ivette Avatar

I wear bronzer almost everyday, as a countour and to give some dimention to my face (I hate the flat look), but I use bronzer very lightly (I don’t want to look fake baked). My favourite bronzer so far is estee lauder bronze goddess matte

Leelee Avatar

I used to be completely intimidated by bronzer even for contouring, but the past few months I have completely loved it. I still need to find my holy grail bronzer though.

Hannah Avatar

Yes! Mostly in the summer though. I might put some on VERY lightly in the winter when I’m pale, just to give me a little color.

I don’t wear it every day though. My favorite bronzer is MAC’s Refined Golden. The color isn’t orangey or fake looking, and the gold shimmer is really pretty and not as noticable as you’d think.

scarlettholly Avatar

I’m on the hunt for a bronzer. I’m pretty pale and want to warm my skin up a little this summer, but most likely avoiding the actual sun!!! Right now I’m using Benefit Hoola but I’m not sold on it being perfect!!

Mariels Avatar

Hoola is quite dark and pigmented , it needs a really light hand on paler complexions. I heard that Too Faced Snow Bunny is good for lighter skin tones.

Mariels Avatar

Looove bronzer. I sometimes use it as a contour with blush and sometimes just by itself like blush. It doesn’t makes me look faked tanned or orange it just gives me the most amazing glow! My favorites are: Nars Laguna, Benefit’s Hoola, EL bronze goddess and Clinique’s true bronze. I really wanna try Guerlain’s Terracotta and Chanel’s Bronze Universel.

Brittney Avatar

I wear it almost everyday. It is a must for me only because I feel like I have puffy cheeks without it… I use it mainly for contour purposes more thinner/model-esq face. I am loving right now my sample i got of the tan se soleil (bronze universel). I may be purchasing it waiting for the to the beach mac collection to see if they have a cheaper similar one…But Favs: Nars Laquna, Benefit Hoola, Korres Monoi Oil Bronzer in 2 Sunglow Warm. 🙂

j e n Avatar

YES YES YESSS!!!!
Bronzer is definitely a must for me. I wear it every single time I wear makeup!!
My all time favorite is NARS’s Laguna bronzer!! <3

Rosanna Avatar

Yup.

I’m fair skin (leaning a little towards medium) and when my skin tone is all evened out, my face looks a little flat. Bronzer creates some natural shadows on my face and makes my round face thinner. I like to use Bare Escentuals “warmth” powder for natural matte bronzer.

christine Avatar

I just started brozing and love it for it gives a nice glow on my pale skin. I burn really easily so use this instead of tanning. Current favorite is Nars Laguna but am still wanting to try out others.

Brielle Avatar

I use bronzer as a blush! I sort of put it on the bottom of my apples, so it’s similar to sculpting. I love to use the NARS Laguna Bronzer. And if im wearing a lo-cut top, I put it on my chest and clavicle.

Kai Avatar

i do in the summer: i like to keep it simple with bronzer and lip gloss, i curl my lashes and im done.I tann very easily and i become this honey covered almond color if that makes sense. In winter i don’t… maybe i should start

Katie Avatar

I recently purchased NARS Laguna Bronzer after months of contemplation and I’m smitten! I have always loved the look of bronzed, sun-kissed skin though I burn easily and my cheeks get a lot of redness! The bronzer adds great colour and life to my skin whenever I want it!
