Depends on what I’m doing if it’s just something quick for work then one pallete. If I’m doing something more fun I’ll mix and match.
Depends on how much effort I want to put in. I usually only use one eyeshadow palette at a time. Lately I use a singular cream or powder eyeshadow for a look
One single palette. Personally I find it cumbersome and annoying to bring multiple palette, have them open and occupy space. And I never think about color associations for shades in different palettes. For me it has to be one and done.
I do all matte looks 70% of the time and rarely need more than one palette but when I do want a shimmer/metallic, I’ll usually reach for a single bc most palettes don’t have a cool toned shade that’s light enough for my liking. Lately I’ve preferred metallics in liquid or cream (Super Shock, stick, potted, squeeze tube) form but will occasionally use a powder single from SG, GMG, Devinah, Nars, MAC, or Kiko.
I am very much a “mix & match” type! And I have zero issues with moving around between two, even three, palettes in order to get the desired effect and resulting look. I think that this has something to do with my art school classes background? One moves between all the shades at their disposal, blending various pigments to get exactly the shades they need to bring everything to life.
For travel or when I’m in a hurry, I like being able to grab just one versatile palette or quad, but at other times, I will combine palettes or – GASP – reach for one really flattering “one and done” shadow.
Usually I’ll use one palette but I recently organized my makeup drawer so I could see and access all my palettes easily so every so often I plan a look using more than one (maybe two) if I’m feeling adventurous or want a specific look.
I am quite happy to use shades from different palettes to create the eye look I want – it depends on what I am wearing and the eye colours I have chosen to co-ordinate with it.
For neutral eye looks, I often want a pop of blue or olivie green/forest green and so I will get out another palette that has those shades in it.
I almost always use more than one palette. The only exception would be when travelling alone and I limit myself to one palette for space sake. Most palettes do not have a matte shade light enough for my brow bone and I also tend to use the very lightest matte as a base to set down my primer. Lately I have actually been using a white shade from a Korean palette. A lot of off-white shades are actually too dark for that purpose. I also like the creative process and would hate for makeup to turn into a chore that I do rather than a way to express myself. Playing with mixing, matching, layering and new placement is the fun part for me. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t but I learn what I like and what I don’t.
I use one palette at a time,
I usually mix and match, but sometimes I like to challenge myself by using just one (especially if it’s smaller) and see what I can come up with.
Definitely mix and match. Unless I have a specific palette in mind, I will often take out several palettes, including my big palette of singles, and choose shades from two different ones. Or I’m doing a look with one palette and reaching into another for a specific shade, like Natasha Denona Mini Nude for my inner corner highlight.
I rarely use just one palette, I often wish I could though. I need a light brow bone colour and few palettes have one light, and neutral enough to work. So at least I add a single, or I use Viseart Matte Neutrals, both the lightest colours in that palette are panned, actually I’m almost scraping the edges of them by now.
Not sure if you’re aware, but you can buy replacements for just those specific pans on the Viseart site
I didn’t know that.
I didn’t buy the palette from their site, I’m not sure I have even visited it.
Thank you!
Having the time and creativity to think of color stories across palettes is a luxury I seem to have very rarely nowadays, so I rely on one palette at a time and the curated colorstory. The only exceptions are when I pull out another palette for a light shade to help blend out another shade on my browbone; and when I use a liquid eyeshadow over the mobile lid and a powder shadow to help the transition and maybe deepen the outer corner.
I usually just use one palette, but I’m not opposed to using a couple or even three if I need to.
I do both, usually I mix two or three palettes, but lately I try to use only one (for quick looker looks)
