Do you read beauty/makeup books?
Do you read beauty/makeup books? Love ’em? Hate ’em?
.
When I have the time, I like reading them, but I more often just look at the photos!
Thanks to LunaTwinkle for this question!

I LOVE THEM! I have 2 Kevyn Aucoin books, an Eve Pearl book, and a Bobbi Brown book. i’m still trying to get my hands on the Francois Nars book.
Out of all the books i have, the Eve Pearl book is really the most helpful. Plastic surgery without surgery.
gotta catch em all!
noooooo i cant stand all the “RULES” thats not how makeup should be!
I love beauty books! For others, they might be waste! Dont get me wrong, but who cares? For me, they are ego-satisfying! I have Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual and Jemma Kidd Beauty Bible 🙂
I have, but I feel like it’s all just kind of repetitive… there’s no new information for me, and the pictures online are good enough for me. 🙂
Love the Kevyn Aucoin books for when I’m feeling uninspired! I will be checking out the other ones mentioned in this post so thank you, other posters 🙂
I find ones on history, periodic styles, etc. interesting. General beauty books? Not so much. I’d rather pick up a Vogue, and eyeball all the designer advertisements, or search online for make up artists portfolios.
I own a Bobbi Brown book, I looked through it when I bought it then put it away and haven’t looked at it again.
Don’t read them. Honestly when I have a beauty question or need a recommendation I log onto Temptalia. You give great advice and so do your many viewers. Thank you all.
Yippee! Another question by me! XD Thanks Christine!
Sometimes I’ll read beauty books. I tend to stay away from them because they can be dated, hence I never purchase them. But I do look through them for pictures and inspiration.
I wish I could buy any beauty book (I have my eye on Kevyn Acoin) but they are impossible to get in my country! 🙁
I love them!! I have the book, “Thalia: iBelleza!” (think I spelled that right.) It gave me soo much information that I actually used. I learned how to contour and highlight from this book. It gave different face types (heart, oval, round, square) and showed where to contour, highlight, and blush each type of face. =)
Yes! I love my Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual to DEATH!!!
Nars, Bobbi brown, Laura mercier, Thalia, Jemma Kidd, carmindy…. And some more….
The best one I have read is Jemma Kidds new one- although it is alot of the same info, the pictures and directions are very useful
I’ve browsed them but I’m more into reading blogs & magazines to keep with the latest stuff!
I do, and I own so many of them. I love Bobbi Brown makeup manual. So much useful info.. also loves Jolie Nadine beauty confidentials…. fun to read.
I own a makeup manual for asian faces
Not anymore. I might have like 4 or 5 books on beauty (My favorite is from the editor of Allure). Honestly I find myself going through the pictures and doing less reading, and I realized that I learn more from online blogs and youtube videos than from the books.
I recently discovered Make Up Store’s bi annual magazines and they’re fantastic. There’s no rules but lots of looks.
I absolutely love them! Yes, there are endless amounts of information on the internet, but sometimes you need that information with you, at that moment. I have way too many to name, & still collecting. I love Eve Pearls Plastic Surgery Without the Surgery & both bobbi brown books the most.
