Yes! Every Sunday I set up my glam tray for the week. It’s a time for me to shop my stash and/or purge.

I really should do this more often. I have a LOT of eyeshadow palettes and single shadows that rarely see the light of day because I don’t take the time to bring them out to have at hand to use. I really should do this on a more regular basis, even if it’s just to use for a day or two, or even a full week. It’s less an issue with lipsticks and blushes, since I tend to stay in the same 2 or 3 colour “families” but I’d get a lot more use from my eyeshadows if I would do this.

Not necessarily; I have a small makeup collection, with on item of each, so I am using most things every time I do my makeup. The only thing I rotate through are eyeshadows, blushes and lipsticks.
I track the opening and expirations dates of my products, so usually I take note of items that will expire soon. I don’t need to pull out specific eyeshadows or blushes, since all are in the same custom palette. But if I know a product expires in the next 1-2 months, I make sure I use it more often before tossing it out, to both get my use and help me better decide if it will be a repurchase or it’s something I’ll want to find a better substitute off.

Not really; it’s usually just what I’m feeling day to day. I do try to switch my palettes out seasonally. It’s nice to rotate them and then I can assess what I never reach for and declutter accordingly.

I decide on a specific e/s palette or a group of singles to use each month but then I vary eyeliner color and blush depending on the overall look that I want on a particular day.

Nope! If I’m going to put on my face, I’ll just pick out items that my mood or clothing goes with whatever I choose. I hope that makes sense!

Yes, I have to rotate stuff regularly, either weekly or fortnightly because otherwise the majority of my stash would never get touched and that’s just sad…

Plus my dresser is close to overloaded, so reshuffling things frequently takes some of the pressure off 🙂 I like to pull out several eyeshadow, blush and highlighter palettes and mix and match them over several days. I do have separate smaller set of drawers in the bathroom that holds all my current HG stuff so occasionally something will be rotated out but if I’m in a rush (like I was this morning, after sleeping in an extra 45 minutes) I just head directly to that…

I have new storage bins on my shopping list so the while kit and caboodle will be reorganised in the next month or so – and then I’ll start all over again!

I went through a stage, awhile ago now, where I would pick an eyeshadow palette to use for the week, but now I don’t bother – I just go with either what I fancy or what works with what I am wearing.

By the way, my On The Horizon Light palette arrived yesterday afternoon and OMG Christine – it is SO much more beautiful that the pictures on your blog show. The packaging is divine and the shades are stunning. I am currently wearing Magellan’s Light (I can see myself hitting pan on this one VERY quickly), Phoenix Awakens and Earthbound – so, so gorgeous.

Yes!! I pick 2 products in each category to use over 2 weeks so I can work through all of my collection. For eyeshadow, I pick 3-4 and lipstick I just use whatever shades I want but put them in another organizer so I can work through my full collection. This helps me use everything.

In an effort to shop my stash & give my products (especially palettes and lipsticks) equal love, I try to rotate those every few weeks so that I will see them and use them, choosing color stories I think are seasonally synchronous. Also, if I have not used something in a long time to help me use and decide if I want to keep it or not I try to put it in easy reach so I can incorporate it. Sometimes, I will pick a few products out in a seasonal color that has caught my eye and that I want to use more of so I will have them out in display to use. Also, if I have new products, I try to have those out so I can remember to test them. Sometimes this means shopping my stash to coordinate the look to be compatible with color of the test product. I use to put together a “look” with multiple products and gathered those in a cosmetic pouch or a box to use in combination but I have not done that for a long time. This is something I may like to try doing again though. This could be a fun way to rotate the stash and develop concepts to use the makeup products more purposefully. Also, when I do things like this, it helps me not buy as much because I see that I can already duplicate a look that I may be contemplating buying new products to replicate. But mainly it is a fun way to play with the products get creative ideas rather than just grab and go the same things I use on the daily.

I didn’t used to, but this last year, I did so more often because I wanted to use my stash and not buy new things. I failed wearing the makeup much, but I want to continue to pull stuff out and try to wear more.

Yup! It helps me to rotate through my collection. But just because I pick things out for the week it doesn’t mean that’s what I end up using. During the week there’s a good chance I’ll decide on an entirely different look or palette to use.
