Do you hesitate to use limited edition products?

Experience has taught me that I love a LOT of products, so I might as well use when I want to because it’s so, so rare that I’d finish it to begin with!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! I don’t buy makeup to just sit there. If I own it, I use it. And I rarely use up makeup unless it’s mascara, eyeliner, foundation, concealer or powder. Makeup deteriorates so there is no point in keeping something to just have it!

I do. I have a few favourites, most notably MAC Sweet Sentiment blush, that I worry about finishing. Sweet Sentiment is probably my most used blush (in conjunction with Dior Rosy Glow Awakening Blush) and it actually IS a product I could conceivably finish. And it really is my perfect blush and I hate the idea of finishing it. The few dupes that are still available aren’t available to me and the one listed dupe that I do have just doesn’t measure up. I guess this post has become an ode to Sweet Sentiment but I do have a few lipsticks that are kind of in the same boat (if I can mix my metaphors!) – MAC Red Dwarf and Red Necessity are 2 that come to mind.

I don’t have many limited edition products… maybe one or two in my collection and that’s it. A couple of years ago I might have hesitated to use them, with the mentality of “saving them for a special occasion”, which, what special occasion? ? I don’t hesitate to use any of my products anymore, because the likelihood of me finishing anything, ever, is minimal. And if I do finish something there is plenty more out there to try!

Not really, because
1) after a certain time products expires
2) the brands tend to re propone the same products, so it’s likely that I’m going to find something similar after 2 or 3 seasons
3) thanks to Temptalia I can find dozen of dupes to replace my LE.
4) I rarely finish any product except mascaras and eyeliner, and for these products I rarely choose LE

No, I don’t think so. If I love something, I’m going to use it whenever the mood strikes me. However, I did use to. I was so afraid that because I couldn’t replace them, I’d save them for either special occasion or something like that. I believe that turning 60 changed my perspective. Figured that much of my stash ought to last me till I get too old to rock a smokey eye, cat-eye wing and vampy lips, so live it up and use it up.

I buy makeup for current use and if that happens to be a limited edition product, I will use it without regard to whether I could buy it again if used up. The products I use up—-foundation, primer, mascara—-are never limited edition.

There is absolutely no hesitation at all, I just don’t use some LE products, LOL! There aren’t that many but all are being kept because of the embossing and they are all finishing powders. They also happen to be products I purchased from Toshiya at FudeJapan. Other LE products I don’t have any problem using. There is likely to be another similar shade or the company will re-release the LE product or add it to their permanent line.

I am careful to purchase a limited edition….bit if I really like it, I will immediately get a backup. For example, the ABH Sultry palette. I am happy to use them but not quite as much as, for example, the Born to Run palette.

Generally no, I don’t hesitate to use the products because I am so excited to get them. So I will use them like crazy for even a month or so….
However, it is true that certain favourite shades – whether they be a lipstick, a blush or an eyeshadow cannot always be easily duped – and then that’s truly sad when that product is finished.
For me it will be: the silvery blue shade of Les Gris from Guerlain (have already hit pan on it), Milani’s Cinnamon Spice lipstick and Lorac’s Amber eyeshadow.

Not really because I’m so slow at using color cosmetics that the likelihood of me running out of a product, even one that’s LE, is pretty low. I also try to practice an “eat off the nice dishes” outlook on certain things, so I try to enjoy the things I like even if they’ll disappear instead of keeping them locked away. It leaves me with good memories and open doors to discover future beloved things.
