I like to switch up my daytime shades a lot, though I do have a few go-tos that I wear more often than others. But for evenings out when I wear red lipstick, it’s almost always Chanel Pirate…though once in a blue moon I’ll let one of my other reds come out and play.

I love it! I wear it often to a restaurant where I eat greasy appetizers, and it holds up extremely well. It’s very lightweight and comfortable, and isn’t drying. Out of all my reds (including shades by MAC, Bite Beauty, Guerlain, Dior), it’s definitely my number one!

My real go to lipstick has to be MAC Craving. It flatters my face, flatters my colouring and it doesn’t matter if I’m wearing red near my face or purple or hot pink or burgundy – it doesn’t clash with any of those colours because it really is like my natural lip colour only better.

I adore Buxoms lip creme in ‘Hot Toddy’! it is the perfect nude-y peach for my skin and looks great with all the different eye looks I keep trying to copy from here! 😉

Yes I do have a signature lip shade and it is bronzey brown or russet shades. Examples are Colour Pop’s LA Lady, Tea Thyme and Gallop; Clarins Joli Rouge Spicy Cinnamon; Milani’s Cinnamon, Bronze Beauty, Candied Toffee and Tuscan Toast; EA’s Perfect Bronze, Bronze Cocoa and Cayenne Pearl.

I also like orangey/peach shades: EA Ginger, Colour Pop’s Foolish too.

My go to has been MAC Viva Glam VI for ages. I am trying to be more adventurous (or just putting on a color that requires thought), so hopefully when it runs out I will have fallen in love with another one since it was discontinued.

Rebel Vice is a beautiful color!

I envy people who feel comfortable and natural while wearing lipstick, I don’t know what’s wrong with me but every time I put it on I just feel like it looks wrong. I don’t mean the color looks like a bad choice, just that color on my lips looks wrong. I don’t know why I can’t get past that.

Historically the closest I get to a go-to lip color is that L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Eva’s Red (403, known as Matte-traction Red in the Colour Riche Matte line) is an easy, low-maintenance red when I want to wear red lipstick but don’t want to worry about upkeep. The shades I’ve been wearing a lot recently are Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips 2 Viva la Vergara and Amazing Amal.

Urban Decay Rebel lipstick…I keep hoping that Urban Decay will make it permanent, but I think I’m going to have to have it recreated at the lab in Canada….if its still providing that service. I’m not even sure of the lab name, though someone spoke about it here on Temptalia which is how I heard about it.

Estee Lauder Pink Parfait – This has been my MLBB shade since I was a teen in the 80s! It’s a moderately warm-toned, medium pink with a pearl finish. Yes, it looks neon-bright bubble gum color in the tube but goes on so subtler. Love EL’s lippy formula, balmy and non-drying yet wears for about 4 hrs then fading gracefully.

MAC Syrup or Lancome The New Pink or L’Oreal Saucy Mauve. They all hit the pinky-purple MLBB for me and my salt and pepper hair! My comfort spot!

I have been wearing Urban Decay Gash in every iteration it has appeared in. It is my go to red, in every season for almost every occasion. Don’t get me wrong, I love lip stick, and I wear many different shades from many different companies, but when I want to look polished, or I am making up for an occasion, Urban Decay Gash is my favorite, go to red. I have a guilty confession to make as well. When I learned it was going to be discontinued, I bought 6 back ups. I also would take it into Sephora, Ulta, and other stores to see if I could come up with a match. I found some close matches, but nothing identical. When I had one back up left, it was re-released, and neurotic me bought three as soon as I could in the even they stopped making it again. For awhile, you could only get it on urbandecay.com, but my heart sang when I spotted it at Sephora again. It is still my favorite. I just don’t know why I love it, but I do, and I hope I have a back up in the event they stop making it again, so I can send it to 3customcolor.com to have a perfect replica made.

I used to rely pretty heavily on Nars Dolce Vita as my go to and I still love that shade but my lipstick obsession kicked in to high gear and now I’m a color magpie. Still, if there’s a color that’s guaranteed to catch my eye it’s most likely in the darker magenta or berry shade ranges. Just about everything else is up for grabs.

I usually go for Ravenswood UD Vice Lipstick. It’s a pretty safe color, while still having a bit of edge. However, my all time favorite lip color would have to be a deep blood red, like UD Hex or Colourpop Poison.
