Do you get spa treatments?

Do you get spa treatments? What about salon treatments (manicures/pedicures)?  Worth the money?

From spas, I’ve only had one facial, but I do go in for massages (actually will have a post all about those soon!).  I very rarely get manicures/pedicures, though I have had a few in my lifetime.  I think massages are worth every penny!

Love, love, love to go to the resort spas in Phoenix and get a massage and spend the day in their robes and by their pools and using all their amenities! And, they have the most amazing therapists! Sometimes, with a BFF, sometimes with my hubby, sometimes, even, by myself! 🙂
Also, I get “gel” nails every 2-3 weeks at a salon “day spa” and a pedicure every 3-5 weeks…

Got my first mani & pedi a little over a month ago – gel nails, too. Definitely recommend the pedi as they do stuff to your feet you wouldn’t even dream of! My nails grow too fast so the gel nails are going to be removed…can’t keep up on gel fills every 2 weeks, too much maintenance & too expensive, tho they look lovely! No facials, etc as most spas are heavily scented & use scented products and I’m allergic/scent sensitive. For medical reasons I do deep tissue massage and find it helps a lot with my should & neck issues – but that’s probably different from spa massages lol

I work in a salon | spa so I get a pedicure quite regularly and I must say it’s worth it! Especially if you wear heels all day like myself, manicures I tend to do on my own but I love facials as well. I might be biased but I find people always feel 100 percent better after any treatment so I think they are all worth it (:

I’m lucky in that I’m in a family full of aestheticians and nail technicians!

My Mom and two other aunts have their own nail salons. We all deck out our nails and toes for special events like weddings or vacations! And I’ve got the family discount……free! XD

One aunt did a facial and microdermabrasion for me once. I might go in again because it really minimized my blackheads!

I’m a spa junkie and indulge at least once a month – i rotate between various types of massage treatments; mani + pedi; and the occasional facial.

You’re so lucky! I’ve never been able to go to a spa for a massage, but it is definitely on my to-do list. Sadly, I haven’t got the money for one yet, but I will be saving for sure! I’ve gone to a spa and gotten a facial before, but that was years ago. It’s just so expensive. Maybe I’ll start a “Jennifer’s Spa Fund” piggy bank 😉

YES. You name it I do it! Facials, back facials, massages, mani/pedi, waxing anything that has an errant hair on it, body wraps, whatever. Although I will say with the exception of pedicures (been getting them regularly since I was a wee tot of 14 or so) I only started to get the rest of them frequently when I started beauty school. Free spa treatments = THE BUSINESS.

I have gone for some facials and deep cleaning and did a manicure/pedicure a couple times. Never went for a massage though although I bought some for my boyfriend in the past – deep tissue massage and he loved it!

Hi Christine..since you have been to spas..do you know any good spa in particular that does massage therapy? I didn’t want to go to just any spas because it’s for my injured back..I live around Union City/Fremont area..thanks

I get a pedi once a month during sandal wearing season. I’ve only had a massage once and that was a couples massage with my hubby for our 10th anniversary.

Valerie Avatar

I get regular mani/pedis (and I now have AMAZING Bio Sculpture nails that I get filled every 2 1/2 wks). Once or twice a year I get a facial or a massage.

My daughter and I love to play “spa” at home and do Body Shop Blue Corn face masks!

Cindy Avatar

Getting regular facials from a reputable esthetician is completely worth it. They’ll treat you depending on your skin type and condition, and will really help you have the best skin that your genetics will allow. And, when your skin is happy and healthy, any makeup you do wear will look that much better. You have one face for a lifetime – it deserves the best you can give it.

Cassykins Avatar

Manicures are about my limit. I don’t like when people touch my feet (my one pedicure was NOT a relaxing experience) and I’m not up for stripping down for a massage.

ledonatela Avatar

Well, I work for a group of Spa/Salons, so yeah I get massages, pedi’s, fairly regularly. I wish I got facials more but I always tend to opt for massages instead. The only thing I don’t ever really get is mani’s.

Laura Avatar

I love getting mani and pedi. I feel like my hand and feet got a new haircut. I had my first massage on vday. It was amazing. I am waiting to use my gc to get another massage. I need it after a stressful summer school.

Claire m Avatar

I have a facial every couple of months, I go to elemis spas and have now switched to their skincare, it works wonders and feels very indulgant!!!

Melissa Avatar

I am a weird person. I don’t think I could ever bring myself to get a spa treatment. I tend to get embarrassed and don’t like people to be waiting on me. I suppose I will try it someday just so see what it is like. I’d like to gift my mom with a spa treatment since she is THE BEST.

Janet Avatar

Like you Christine I only go for massages. Even though they can be pricey I think a good massage every once in a while does wonders for the body and soul. I don’t get manicures or pedicures because I like to change colors often and would rather to it myself. I’m also concerned with how unsanitary salon tools can be. I don’t want to pick up a fungus or worse.

May Avatar

I’ve had spa treatments on special occasions ie vacations, day before my wedding. It’s heavenly and I wish I could get them on a regular basis. I use to get facials with my mom when I was younger but I was still living with my parents and it was her treat. Massages freak me out. I’m not as relax as I should be. I think it has something to do with being naked, laying face down and lack of control.

Joanna Avatar

Massages are a must because they actually have therapeutic value and prevent neck and shoulder pain from working on a computer all day.

I have only ever had two facials. They felt nice at the time, but I didn’t notice any long-term results.

I have never had a mani or pedi – I do them myself at home. However, I occasionally get gel nails done and I get my brows waxed on a regular basis.

Azaza Avatar

Yeah but I usually get massages. Its really nice that we have home service spas here. I havent had a facial or a body scrub for a long time now since I have a routine for my face that I got from my dermatologist and my face has been pretty good, that and my derma is the one who gives me facials

I usually just to a salon or call for home service for my mani/pedi

Jazz Avatar

I get a pedi from the little nail shop by my house…. never been to a real spa . Want to go though. I have had a quickie massage at my school though

Emily Avatar

Every one in a while I do….I LOVE massages! I’ll only get manicures and pedicures if I have money to waste, or if I’m really stressed out and need to chill. =) I’ve only gotten a professional facial once, but it was pretty great too.

Sally Avatar

Yeah… I regularly get manicures/pedicures and facials, but I usually only get massages when someone else gets them for me. Hahaha. So my birthday, Christmas, or when my mom and I just need a spa day :]

Dana Avatar

I get manis and pedis regularly. They are very cheap though in my area (Long Island, NY), usually $15-$20 for both depending on the salon. When I lived upstate nails were much more expensive so I rarely got them done.

MC Avatar

Massages are awesome! I’ve only had a couple in my lifetime but I agree with you, they are worth it every now and then. I occasionally get manicures before something special. I rarely get pedicures just because I feel like I’m pretty good at taking care of my own feet whereas with manicures I tend to mess up my nails.

I never get facials…the two times I have gotten a facial I’ve broken out in cystic acne. Just not for me!

Dani Avatar

I get facials a few times a year. I usually only get a pedi if I’m going on vacation in the winter months. I’ve only spent a lot of money at a spa once in Costa Rica and it was worth every penny!!

Sophie Avatar

I live in Brazil and here we usually get manicures once a week (average price 15 Reais – or USD 9)and pedicures twice a month (avg cost 20 Reais – or USD 12). Besides mani/pedi, I particularly get deep cleaning facial once a month and massages sometimes. Love the LOccitane spa.

Kirstie Avatar

I save the money for mani/pedis and do it myself with the salon quality brands, OPI, Essie, Zoya for example. I have never had a massage or facial. I would love to try out a BLISS spa one day!

Diega Avatar

So surprised at the comments and how rare people go to spas! I have my mani and pedi once every 2 weeks, a massage every month, and a wax whenever I feel I need it, which is around every month too. Guess labor’s cheap here in the Philippines.

Carrie Avatar

I’ve had a few manis and pedis and one facial treatment. I love manis and wish I’d get them more often; pedis I don’t really care for, I can just do it myself; and the facial was really uncomfortable. It was supposed to be an extra-special relaxing and thorough treatment (got it as a gift) and while it did make my skin look a little glowy, I was very uncomfortable and I definitely wouldn’t spend all that money on it myself. Not worth it to me at all, I think I can accomplish the same results with some steam and masks at home!

Ru Avatar

Just went in this weekened for a facial! I used to get facials sporadically but recently my face has been reacting horribly, and luckly I found the best specialist ever because after shes done with me, my face is clear for weeks!
I love getting massages, but I do it only when I feel tight/achy.
I don’t get mani/pedis at spas (they aren’t worth the price). I only get them at the salons in Queens, NY because its only $17 for both and they do a great job.

Connie Avatar

I get microdermabrations once a month. It really helps me and my clogged pores. I’m looking into getting the V Beam laser treatment to get rid of past acne scars. Costs $250 a treatment. If it works I feel it is worth it. Still researching though.
