Do you ever compliment strangers on their makeup?

Do you ever compliment strangers on their makeup? Yes, no, sometimes? Totally awkward?

When I see exceptionally good makeup, I do!

I will if the colors of eyeshadows blend in beautifully, or if the eye look matches with the lips. (:
I do know of people applying smokey eyes with bright red lips, where the colors clash. pretty tacky.

Not strangers, but people I know. However, I have been complimented by strangers a few times (mainly the ladies at make up counters) and it is nice. 🙂

Oh, of course… If I see anything I love on them, I compliment it. Whether it be shoes, a scarf, a shirt. I know my day brightens when someone compliments something I have on, and I love to brighten up peoples day! 🙂

I frequently compliment people if I like a shade they’re wearing or the way they’ve applied something! An unexpected compliment can brighten someone’s day and spread a little joy! 🙂

Yes, only if I’m interested in something I want. Like if I see a pretty eyeshadow I will compliment and ask what it is so I can get it for myself.

yes i do 😀 My work involves selling eyeglasses, so the eyes are kinda the focus, so if someone has great makeup, i’ll tell them 😀 i like to believe it brightens up their day a bit.

i was in Boots the other day and told the sales assistant how gorgeous her lashes were! 🙂 its like clothes. i’m happy to ask someone where they got their beautiful dress/shoes/bag and i’ll always be nosey about their make up choices too 🙂

I do mostly when they are near makeup. Like at a makeup counter or store. I never really seen anyone on the street that I would go out of my way to compliment.

I get complimented by strangers sometimes and it’s like “really?” I start blushing. The best compliment I have ever received was by a MAC makeup artist, that made my year!

No, I never compliment strangers even if they look amazing. I do admire them, and wonder about the products they used. The “do not talk to strangers” advise drilled into my head by mom still sticks – even if I’m already in my mid twenties. I know, its ridiculous.

Yes I do 🙂 I think we should compliment each other some more 🙂 I dont think we really understand how much it really means for people to get compliments 🙂
Hair, make-up, clothes whatever, I always compliment 🙂

Alright you HEATHENS! LOL! Proper etiquitte states that you never make unsolicited personal remarks about anyone you don’t know (that includes co-workers btw). Not negative, not positive and certainly not to strangers! It’s rude.

That being said, there are some situations that you can be a little more free-flowing with the remarks. Examples include: Make-up counters, performers, drag queens, people in costume, etc. Basically If someone is wearing very “out there” make-up for a reason (or in a position where they teach make-up application) a compliment is acceptable.

I dont know about you dusty but I dont have any proper etiquitte. Or proper grammer, social skills… the list goes on and on XD. Thats why I consider myself to be so much cooler then everyone else (=

It’s important to me to be a gentleman. It’s something you don’t see often. The ability to put yourself in another person’s shoes is something that I see getting lost these days and that makes me incredibly sad. Being a man of courteous conduct, understanding social graces and striving to make others around me comfortable are all part of what it means (to me) to be a gentleman (I actually call it “acting with common sense”). Trust me, it’s attractive to others and appreciated by those around you.

I do if its really good and I can’t figure out what the product might be that they used. In english class this girl was sitting next to me and had a flawless face and it was matte but not dry, cakey or powdery and I asked her at the end of class because I needed to know and she said it was maybelline age rewind liquid foundation and yes I asked her if she powdered afterwards and she said nope. I did feel awkward asking her but but she reassured me it was fine and if you gotta know, you gotta know=)xo

It depends. If they are wearing a neutral look, I won’t say anything – even if it looks amazing. If they are wearing obviously loud/bright/more artistic looking makeup, I will totally compliment. I think it is rude to complement on makeup that is supposed to look like a natural face because the wearer might not be looking for attention to be drawn to the fact that they are wearing makeup.

I think the only time I’ve ever complimented someone on their makeup was at a MAC counter. I loved it so much that instead of checking out the new collection that was out, I just bought whatever she used on her eye makeup :]

People constantly stop to ask what I am wearing on my eyes, lips, who cuts my hair and how I style it so yes, I always pay it forward and do the same for others. It makes you feel good and I want to do it for others. I have found some excellent products by doing so. Love and Lipgloss (lol) Jennifer
