Dior Mirror (621) Fusion Mono Long-Wear Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Dior Mirror (621) Fusion Mono Long-Wear Eyeshadow
Dior Mirror (621) Fusion Mono Long-Wear Eyeshadow ($31.00 for 0.22 oz.) is described as a “shimmering gold.” It’s a pale, muted light-medium gold with warm undertones and a sparkly, metallic finish. LORAC Cashmere (LE) is very similar. LORAC Sand (LE) is similar. LORAC Opal (LE) is lighter. Hello Kitty Bright (LE) is lighter. Dior Pied de Poule #2 (P) is lighter. Make Up For Ever D416 Crystalline Yellow (P, $21.00) is a touch lighter. Chanel Tisse Gabrielle #2 (P) is very similar. MAC Cool Companions #1 (LE) is more glittery. YSL Saharienne #2 (P) is lighter. Dior Pastel Fontanges #3 (LE) is similar. Tarina Tarantino Taurella (LE) is similar. Too Faced Snowflakes (LE, $16.00) is lighter. MAC Greenluxe #2 (P) is more sparkly. Disney by Sephora Charming (LE) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
When the formula first released, I really loved it (and I still love the original shades), but some of the limited edition releases have left me less impressed. I think Mirror works well as a sparkly wash of gold on the lid–if that’s the look you’re going for–but it doesn’t layer or build up to fully opaque color. It’s not as pigmented as the formula is normally, and this one had enough sparkle that there was a little fall out over time as well. I didn’t have any creasing until after nine hours of wear, and the texture of it is spongy, gel-cream like so it blends incredibly easily on the skin and looks smooth applied.
FYI… some confusion about whether this is limited edition or permanent exists as three counters I called and online retailers are listing it as limited edition, but Dior says it is new and permanent, so they’ve said that they can confirm at the very least Dior.com will have it permanently.

Christine, there’s conflicting information between this post and the launch info you posted before. Mirror is marked as LE in this post but specifically marked as permanent in the other. Do you know which one is true?
The information I have is conflicting, unfortunately, so I’m going with LE until I can get an updated answer.
Dior says new and permanent, but to be safe, they can confirm Dior.com will have it going forward as a permanent item.
Thank you! 😀
I bought 2 of these and wanted to love them so much but ended up returning them. I was looking for something I could wear without primer for when I’m in a rush and just looking for a quick wash of color, but by the 4 hour mark they looked like a cheap drug store shadow – all balled up in my crease and no color left anywhere else. I returned them. The only formula I have found that works without a primer and stays on for 10 hours are the Ardency Inn Modster shadows. Those are AMAZING. Nothing else comes close.
Oh, no, that is too bad! Which two did you try, Michelle?
Hi Michelle! For a quick wash of color, have you tried Becca’s Eye Tints? They come like their beach tints and I find them quite lovely! Vicuna is beautiful! I was hoping for more from this, too, but it isn’t nearly as good as others I’ve tried & not worth the price! I love all of Ardency Inn! Such great products! It’s nice to see them brought up! 🙂
I love this color! This would make such a pretty highlighter!
It would!
I was So underwhelmed when I tried this at the counter.
The Dior holiday edition looked so good at first glance and in the end I don’t want anyghing from it. It makes me disappointed and a bit sad that a brand like Dior didn’t do an edition that just made me go into WANT-mood.
Have you seen, of course you have, Charlotte Tilburys latest, the Supermodel edition. I’m sort of thinking about buying the whole edition and nothing else for the holidays, but it’s a substantial amount of money and it gives me a bit of anxiety as I can’t swatch. It’s only available online for me.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Haven’t tried it, so hard to say. Do you really want the video portion? Would you use all of the products? Since you CAN buy them all separately, you should love them all! 🙂
On her website there is an edition without the video, with all the products.
I really do think I’ll stand there after Christmas and New Years without anything from any holiday edition.
I think I had an -Oh I love attack, but it’s wearing off. LOL
I really rather have The Vintage Vamp, The Uptown Girl and The Glamour Muse.
Thanks Christine! You are the best!
No problem 🙂 I always think that sets are great if you love enough products where they are more $ than the set cost (and I don’t think you save much with CT’s sets, if any), otherwise making your own is usually better!
I’m one of those that uses this as a sparkling gold topper, and for that purpose it’s lovely. I dot it on the center of my lid and I love it.
Nice! Do you pat it on with your finger or a brush?
Mmm no, I don’t do ‘washes of color’, so I’ll skip this one.
Good call!
This is a pretty colour, but it’s a shame it isn’t more buildable. I am still looking forward to checking it out though, I think it would make a great base for a lot of shadows.
Let me know your thoughts, Jenn, once you try it!
I like this, but I have the electric cool eyeshadow by mac in Pure Flash! and I think that it would be a pretty good dupe..
There is some similarity!
Hm. It’s pretty I guess, but I seem to have amassed 127531784 ‘champagne/palepinkishgold’ eyeshadows in assorted palettes (OK, it’s only like 5, but for me that feels like a lot 😛 ), so I don’t think I’d go out of my way to get this one too…
It’s dupable – it’s nice if you’re someone who uses this kind of color often and prefers a cream formula, but it is easily found elsewhere!
Unfortunately, it has in fact been quite a time DIOR does not surprise me by these eyeshadows, in relation to the colors, as well as in respect of the performance.
Dior can do better!
This is the one thing I really wanted from this collection, so I’m really disappointed to read that it isn’t great. Wallet’s happy though. Thanks for the review, C.
My pleasure, Catherine!
I think this would be nice if you want a shimmery base or sheer wash. I have 2 of the original Dior colors (Millenium and Aventure) and love them, but agree that some of the more recent ones ( a white and a blue) aren’t that great. I swatched them in the store and ran away from the saleslady.
Love, love the original set – both Millenium and Aventure are in my basics bin – but this isn’t quite there.
Lovely highlighter shade, or as you said, a wash of color on the eyes. I love to do something like this from lashline to brow, then black eyeliner, and a super-bright lip.
It is very pretty on, so long as you like a lighter look 😀 Great call on pairing this kind of color with a bright lip!
It looked a lot pinker/rose in the container. I’m wishing it swatched that way.
Aww, bummer!
Beautiful shade though I think I have way too many similar ones to this!
I’m not surprised – it’s very dupable!
This looks beautiful. I wear a similar color to this that is also a cream, but I’ve noticed the brand I’ve been using dried up in the pot after only a few times of use (even though I put the lid back on tightly). What a disappointment. Have you had this one long enough to know if the formula dries up quickly?
I haven’t had this particular shade for long, but I have almost every shade they’ve released, and the original ones are still fine for me, which are from August 2013.
For 31$..Id probably pass on this one There are too many great products like this out there to be making a substandard one ( esp from big brands)!
Totally understand!
